The area directly outside is busy with bus stop and metro just along the street but for all that no real noise inside at night. Could do better with the floor cleaning was quite dusty and gritty.

The room itself has a few quirks—mugs and plates are chipped, and the main area feels dim due to the lack of a central light. The toilet and shower are oddly separated, with one positioned near the entrance and the other tucked inside the room, which may feel unconventional.

There was a smell to the bedsheets and water. There are barely any amenities. I found it inconvenient that there were no public transportation options to the Marseille-St Charles station.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Pretty perfect - Everything was great, the staff is amazing, so helpful and caring, they offer to keep your luggage before you ask (which is then stored in a secured room, for free). Kitchen in the room has every utensil you might need (I was really impressed). If needed you can work in the lobby, there are regular and USB plugs. Hotel is well located. Only thing to be aware if you're a light sleeper is that the vents on the windows cannot be closed so you do hear street noises as if the windows were slightly open (this is due to French legislation and not the hotel's fault. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Marseille.
- Jason (8/5): - The property was in a good location and had amenities that were helpful such as a laundry room. They also provided lemon water in the lobby each day which was a nice touch. Our room had a nice little outdoor balcony had we decided to use it more. Bed was OK but a little firm. Front desk staff were nice and helpful to a degree. It was also nice to have real plates, glasses, and cutlery in a hotel for some of those excellent leftovers. What was not so great was the smell in the front bathroom/kitchen area, the lack of more regular cleaning, and we had a very noisy neighbor at the end who had no inside voice. It was also unclear about some of the requirements such as using the dishwasher at the end of a stay (or if we had to do dishes at the end of the stay... i just hand washed and put everything back since it was not clear what the expectations were)? Or instructions on the microwave/oven? Maybe we are dumb, but it was hard to figure out (the microwave) and we don't know exactly how we got it to work the two times we did. Not exactly their fault but a sign or instruction sheet for that type of microwave would have been super helpful (I have used dozens and dozens of microwaves throughout my life, but never one so unclear as this). Also no ice machine or easy to get a bucket of ice from the front desk is not ideal. I know the French don't use ice like we do, but the other hotels that have it available feel so much nicer and we used that option every night where/when we could!

- Karen (10/5): Best sleep ever! - Our stay was amazing! This was a stop through my month long Europe trip and my partner and I both slept the absolute best at StayOkay. I slept so well I did not want to leave the room! Convenient location, very walkable and close to many public transportation stops. I was concerned about safety reading some reviews but honestly felt very safe and just stayed aware of my surroundings. Very comfortable stay and would highly recommend.

Our view was of a decrepit apartment with laundry drying outside and also a hanging place for people. I did not feel safe at night. Also, our room had a very foul smell coming from our bathroom. There was likely something wrong with the plumbing system so it seemed to be a much larger pipe issue. It was not pleasant at all. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again.

But our room looked over the tram station entryway and there was a lot of noise coming from there. The area seemed a little sketchy but we never felt unsafe. There are many shops and restaurants within walking distance, the marina too. Staff was friendly and spoke English well.

- Sule (4/5): - I booked two nights for my family and stayed only one, burning the 2-room fee for one night. I would have completely avoided it once I was on the property but it was late, we had driven for hours and we could not look for another hotel and move there at that time. Let me say that this is the last time I trust expedia reviews. The hotel is in one of the worst areas of the city. It’s littered with trash everywhere, broken glass, spread out items that have clearly fallen out of trash bags can be seen until you get to the nicer part of town. The rooms clearly have been renovated recently. However they smell, at least of cigarettes, and god knows what else. Both rooms that we had had horrible smell. I wasn’t the only one, other guests were complaining too. I notified the hotel staff. They didn’t seem to care. Our room looked into some courtyard that seems to be the hangout spot for idle youth. They were out and about making noise till 2am. I was on thrle 1st floor and was concerned about safety. We couldn’t leave soon enough.

- Dan (8/5): Overall good - Hotel room was nice and comfortable. The staff were polite and helpful. The room itself was clean and well-maintained, but the shower room had a bit of a smell to it that radiated into the bedroom a bit. The hotel is in a convenient spot close to the train station, as well as the notable Marseille neighborhoods. The immediate area around the hotel is a bit sketchy, but relatively safe.
- Ben (10/5): Great value in good location - Lovely front desk staff, hotel is clean and comfortable, offers limited breakfast in the lobby. Location is easy walk to Old Port. Paid parking is next door.
- LINDA (10/5): - Great accommodations. Super clean and above average staff. English speaking staff, very helpful. Easy walk down to the port. Metro a few steps away. Some issues with litter around the area but not a big deal. We were 2 retired women and felt very safe at all times.
- Francois-Xavier (8/5): - The staff cleaned our room and refreshed our towels only once during our 9-night stay. We had to ask for some toilet paper rolls every few days. Our room and bed were large and we even had a small kitchenette which was nice. The staff is friendly and helpful.
- NITIN (10/5): Fantastic Stay at StayCity - Great Location, Easy to walk from Saint Charles. Staff were very friendly. Everything was nearby. Walking distance to the Old Port. All safe neighbourhood. Local fruits and veg market nearby. Apartment has everything you need. Kitchen and as fully equipped. Definitely recommended.
- Bryan (2/5): - Area felt unsafe. We left immediately. It could have been the zombie like person standing on the corner of the street or the amount of people that looked to be homeless or sketchy.
- Timothy (8/5): - The property itself was OK, but the area around it was a little rough. As for our room, it was spacious and clean with many amenities for a studio. Only complaint is that there was not enough lites in the room.

- Lunise (8/5): - I just wish knowing the reservation was for 3 the sofa bed was ready and towels were made available in an easier way than going to the front desk. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
- JODI-ANNE (6/5): - The hotel itself was fine, especially the staff, but we did not like the location. Neighbourhood was rundown, streets were not clean. View from the room was unsightly. Despite this, the Staycity brand of hotels is good with great value for money.

- Marty (2/5): - Hotel staff was very nice and spoke English. We were on the 6th floor with no view of anything spectacular. Its Mid November and it was 35C (95F) in our room and they wouldnt unlock the AC control. We opened the balcony door to let the cool air in, but ended up having to close it due to the bugs and getting bug bites. Could of been bug bites but pretty sure it was mosquitoes. Smart TV but not hooked up properly. Food was okay. If you are starving its okay. But walk 10 minutes and get something good.

- SAMIR (6/5): - The property is in a great location, easy to get to with the metro and bus routes on its doorstep. The apartment that we stayed in was large, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped with a fridge, coffee machine, kettle, milk, microwave, the works. The internet connection was also great in the rooms so it's great place for WFH. What we didn't like was the limited lighting in the apartment, it was really dark even with the lamp(s). Unfortunately for us one wall light wasn't in working condition and one lamp was flickering which isn't comfortable to the eye. The bathroom that we received was great for accessible needs but otherwise after showering leaning against the wall, still came out to a very wet floor. Overall I would still stay here but would ask for extra lighting and a better apartment.
- Sadia (10/5): Great Stay and close to many restaurants (Halal) - Enjoy my stay here for.5 days, walking distance to the Shopping Malls & restaurants, the staff were very helpful especially Thomas who went out his way to make sure our stay was good 👍
- Dorothy (10/5): - Reception was extremely helpful when we arrived rather early. The M1 Colbert station is practically right out of the front door. Le Panier is very close as are the Vestiges.
- Carolyn (10/5): Great location to explore Marseille - This hotel was perfect for our one night stay at a reasonable price. The reception staff were very friendly and the bed was really comfortable too!
- Bashar (6/5): - Very good property other than the sewage smell that filled the room. We tried to change the room but told hotel was full due to the Rugby World Cup. If it wasn’t for the foul odour, I would have given it a full mark on condition. The area around the hotel is not great but during the day and early evening hours easily walkable to the old port.
- Melinda (10/5): - Hotel is within walking distance of the metro and the Vieux Port. The hotel staff was excellent. We only stayed one night. There were some sketchy streets though especially walking back to the hotel from the Vieux Port.

- Rebecca (10/5): Highly Recommend Central Location, Excellent Time. - Loved staying here, central location, cleanliness, front desk and security staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Their English was really good and communication was clear. Highly recommend.
- Lucia (8/5): - 2min walk to metro station, great checkin experience, super clean room with full kitchen, however area around the property not the most pleasant to walk around at any time, especially at night.
- Stephanie (8/5): A pleasant stay - The room was spacious and well appointed, especially the little kitchen. The room was a little hot, even with the air con. The location was good in terms of walking to the train station or town centre, however didn't feel particularly safe getting there at night (the hotel safety was good, doors locked at night and guests come in with their key card).
