Guest Reviews
- Christopher (8/5): Charmin - The Check in was very difficult as you had to drive far to pick up the keys. However, the place is clean and very charming. Best part was the shower pressure just amazing!
- Xxxxxx (10/5): - Very private queit but in a comfortable setting no one asking if everything is fine
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I like the location it was near a kayaking access point.
- Yana (8/5): Low key nice accommodations - The room is spacious and kitchenette well equipped. The room could use a little table inside... Bedding is very old and looks like only sheets and pillow cases were washed, not shams nor blankets between guests... Also, there is no room service for the duration of stay. We only stayed 3 nights so we managed but I Probably wouldn’t choose this location for a longer stay.
The shelf in the bathroom made it impossible to wash face and brush teeth.
Overall, it’s a motor lodge, not a hotel and not even a motel. I’d stay again...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Just for one night stay. Bed not so comfortable. Place is worn and dated and cob webs and spiders on the corner of the walls.
- Brain (2/5): - It was a horrible bed. I couldn't sleep all night long. I saw a few bugs in bathroom. Cabins are 30 feet from major rd so it is very loud in the room (costum motorcycles pass constantly).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean room. Bed was comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful.
- Michelle (8/5): - We were welcomed with a smile, very nice and informative. I liked the country setting and deco in the room as well as the amenities.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to Weirs Beach attraction, mini-golf and food options.
Basic motel with beds, small bathroom and kitchenette.
Despite there being a coffeemaker, there was no coffee packets - wish I had known I needed to bring some. Worked well for us to use as a base for daily outtings.
- Lindsey (10/5): - Absolutely adorable 5 stars from me
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nights stay with the bears!! - Very comfortable..slept great!! Clean.... Cute bear items....Great location for overnight stay...close to attractions...
- Sherry (10/5): Can't wait to go back!! - We love staying at all 3 locations. Always friendly service, great locations, clean comfortable room and a quiet relaxing stay.
- Thomas (2/5): BEWARE!!! DRIVE 3 MILES JUST FOR THE KEY, - Place was called a sattelite location. Beware!!! You have to drive 3 miles just to pick up the key, then drive the 3 miles back. Outside was dirty, and weeded, and looked unkept. There was a phone on the outside of the building, to call them-with their number, but it didn't work. There is nobody around if you would need something, they are 3 miles away at another motel. We decided not to stay, and lost our money for the night, but it was not the place we felt comforable at. .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Basic room with kitchenette designed for long-term residency. Not a "tourist" destination.
- Spanky (2/5): - It was a shack the pillows and sheets smelled the blankets were so old it was like a red neck trailer in
- Lennie (8/5): - Nice, quiet motel. never saw the staff so we cannot rate them. Had everything we needed except coffee for the coffee pot.
- Sandy (8/5): - Pleasantly surprised! Very clean with a nice set up. Love all the bear accessories in the room. Great location.
- Kathleen (10/5): Kathleen from coventry - Close proximity to our venue, large rooms, clean, all the extras, wonderful staff...can't ask for more. Even gave us discount coupons to great restaurants.
- Barbara M (6/5): - Arrived at 7 pm after a long day driving. There was no one at the office and we had to drive to the main office to check in. We shoulld have been told ahead of time. The shower head was broken.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No frills, but cozy, did the trick
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The motel was clean, aliitle outdated and the beds weren't that comfortable, but again, it was very clean. I would stay here again for a few nights. It did have a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot and kitchen area, which was convenient.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Check in was easy, Person at the desk was helpful and friendly. Location was quiet, room was simple, rustic, very clean and just what we needed for one night.
- Bob (2/5): No staff on site - The hotel has a for sale sign on it, no staff on site. There was a phone to call but it didn't work. The actual management was 5 miles away. They call it a satellite location. When pressed they gave us another deal about 8 miles away for the same price. All this should be on the add for the site!!!
- diane (10/5): very clean very quiet great price - very clean very quiet. fully equipped kitchenette to boot
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pleasure, service was great, employees helpful. Location was great between Meredith and Laconia. Lots to do nearby.
- Carol (8/5): Surprising - We got to the Bear Tree to find no one there. This being the middle of nothing season, that was a not totally surprising. There's a phone next to the office but it wasn't working so I called them on my cell. Turns out there are 3 affiliated and we had to drive up to the Lazy E Motel to check in which we did. They "upgraded" us to a King Suite which what the heck, we were the only ones there. The outside is old motel wood (the bear theme is a little overwhelming) with a mud parking lot but the inside was surprisingly nice. The King Suite has a kitchen, a futon and bed with trundle in the living room as well as a separate bedroom with the king bed and bathroom. Everything was clean and tidy and we even had a sliding glass door looking out to a decrepit picnic table and the woods. As it happens it was pouring rain so the outdoors wasn't too enticing. There's a tv in the living room and in the bedroom. We would go again.
- MARIE PIERRE (10/5): Surprising place - It was strange to be so alone.
The room is far from all ! But inside it was ok.
Good idea the phone at place.
Just some red stains on towel.
It would be marvelous in summer but in november it was a little scary !
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was clean and as expected. Did not know until reservation confirmation that key had to be picked up at another location. There was only a key lock on the door. NO inside bolt or lock which made us feel a little bit insecure. Heard people walking outside of the room at 1 and 3 am and only one other unit was occupied so that was a little bit unsettling. The motel is in a convenient location and sufficient for what we needed. The isolation and lack of inside lock were what took away from a pleasant stay.
- Bill (4/5): Quaint atmosphere, could have been good... - My key was left on the door in an envelope for me, as I arrived after 9 pm. Room was quaint, bears everywhere. About what I expected based on the name and location. Not new, or fancy, holes in some bedding. A/C unit was extremely loud, so much so that my family all asked what the noise was when I called to say good night to them. I turned it off, in order to hear them on the phone, and then could not get it to function properly again. Of course, it was a hot night, so it was most uncomfortable not having it working properly.
- aimee (8/5): Needed a room quickly - The Bear Tree Lodge was a comfortable, clean place to stay. I appreciated that it was one of the only places I could afford left for the holiday weekend, and that it was close to the Meadowbrook concert venue.
- Clifford (6/5): Ok place to stay. - Bathroom window would not open, leaving the parking lot, my car kept scraping the pacement of the road. Otherwises it was an ok place. Location is nice.
- David (8/5): Good - Was there for funeral
- Denice (6/5): - The AC was pumping out musty smelling air. The shower was too small. The mattress was uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent little place and affordable!
- tonisinnh (8/5): Cute and quaint - I needed a room for the night and I found this motel to be perfect for the price. It was very cute and quaint and the perfect size. The heat had instructions so I could set the room temp how I would like it. There was a smell when I first opened the door....but it smelled as if it was closed up for a long time and just opened but it was gone within 5 minutes. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and more than helpful than the big chain hotels. I enjoyed the cute bear statues and decorations.
- Laura (10/5): All the Comforts of home! - Very friendly and accommodating staff.... the room was comfortable and had all the basics... I would definitely stay here again
- samuel (2/5): Bates motel - Had to plunge the shower to drain.....luckily there was a toilet plunger ( I guess this was not a surprise. No hotel staff on site we had to travel 3 miles to get the key to check in. Finally 3AM the only other guests made a very loud and prolonged entrance with very loud car engine running for 15 minutes......not quite sure but drug deals were my first thought.
- jeff (6/5): - office is not onsite, arrived at 8PM only to find out from another guest that you have drive to the office five miles away. totally sucks. opened the door to my room and it smelled like it was closed for 6 months- musky and like a damp basement. the decor is over the top juvenile. enough with the bear accessories, sometimes more is more.
- sandy (4/5): Inexpensive, close to Meredith - The motel was close to our event, inexpensive and okay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic, clean, well-appointed, bear decor. - This small motel is plain and super-basic on the outside, and pleasant, quite clean, and well-appointed with kichenette on the inside. It was quiet. For people who like cute bear/forrest motif, it was decorated. For a low cost place, it was just fine. It is odd that there was no on-site office (a phone box was provided). We arrived and could not get a key. The phone directed us to go several miles away to another office, where we rec'd a key, some coupons, and very courteous attention. Expedia was apparently supposed to let us know that there was an off-site key location, but we did not receive that info.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Bare necessities in Bear Tree Lodge - I didn't find the reception staff as helpful as I would have expected. They weren't forthcoming with information that I requested with regards to local amenities.
The room was clean, reasonably well maintained and provided microwave and drink making facilities. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom and furnishings were clean.
I'd struggle to recommend Bear Tree Lodge as a place to stay, as there appeared to be much better options in the area.
- Julie (6/5): Not worth the money - The person in the office was very accommodating. I feel the room was overpriced compared to the other rooms we stayed in during our two week trip. We spent three days at this lodge. For the price, there were few amenities. I slept on a twin bed with about a four inch mattress that had no box spring. The mattress was on a wooden platform. We returned to our rooms after the first day and housekeeping changed the towels but never made the beds. Unbelievable. We couldn't get the thermostat to move and were cold. While the room was clean, the carpet had huge stains. We took our shoes off at the door to keep the floor clean but it made our socks black on the bottom. Our next room was at a Hilton with a spa and indoor and outdoor pool for the same price as Bear Tree Lodge.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Mediocre motel. - It was adequate but lacking is some amenities. No continental breakfast. Several miles between check and the rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): good value - The room was very clean and in good condition. there was not any information on local stores or restaurants. the first night the noise from the road was very loud, and also you have to check in at a second location which was never mentioned during the whole booking process.
- Richard (10/5): Great Place - I needed a place to stay for one night for my nephew's wedding. The Bear Tree Lodge was the only place I could find in Meredith that fit the bill. I was pleasantly surprised by the room's spaciousness and comfort. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would recommend Bear Tree Lodge without hesitation.
