Guest Reviews
- Chris (10/5): - Great place
- Stacey (10/5): Perfect for an extended stay - The room is newly finished with a complete kitchen. Perfect for long work trips. Not would stay again, will stay again for sure!
- Aaron (10/5): Nice night - Instead of Car camping in 35° heat this hotel was a nice place to spend the night
- Marinus (8/5): - Smaller room but very comfortable
- John (10/5): Smithers - As I was meeting with relatives I was only in my room for sleeping. It was located close to where I was going and the access was convenient.
- Nathan (10/5): - Great service
- Danielle (2/5): - Booking on, Expedia was very difficult as the phone number to the motel was wrong and only would let somebody communicate about a new book
The room was very small. It did not have a table or anywhere to sit down and have a cup of coffee.
There were bees everywhere
And the bed felt like it was made out of cement
- Stephen (4/5): - The room was clean but the bed was smaller than the queen size advertised. The is no place to hang clothing. The stove and cooking equipment in the Expedia ad are not present but there is a shelf on the wall to use as a table plus two chairs.
- Taneesha (10/5): - Very appreciative of the help from front desk.
- Alice (6/5): - The step into the room was not good. Way too high. It was under repair. Very small room.
- Stacey (10/5): Great spot - Great space to stay while I worked. Kitchen was great and well stocked for an extended stay. Everything thing was clean and like new. Highly recommendwill stay here again.
- Dale (10/5): - Guys therebweee helpful friendly
- Stacey (10/5): Great stay great price - I rented the room with a kitchenette for a month long stay and I brought a dog. The staff were very accommodating to my shift work schedule with cleanings. The room was newly renovated and immaculate. The motel was very quiet and I had no issues with sleeping weird hours.it was a truely great stay. Will be staying here again!
- Ingeborg (10/5): - Very clean, new, good bed
- Kerry (8/5): - This is my go to when travelling through Smithers. Friendly staff, clean rooms, park in front of your room.
- Christy (10/5): Great little motel - Great little hotel. It was cute and cozy and had a lot packed into a small room. It looked like it had been recently renovated or just really well kept. I appreciated the vinyl floors as they weren't cold on bare feet, lol!
- Dylan (10/5): - It looked like it was recently done, very quiet and clea , i enjoyed it alot
- Khyna-lee (10/5): - I liked it.
- Christopher (4/5): - A very uncomfortable bed and the room was small and dark with only one window that could not be opened to allow fresh air into the room. While clean I think this property is over priced for what you receive.
- Fiona (10/5): Perfect overnight stay! - The room was clean, I was happy with the quality of the mattress and the check in was seamless and the front desk clerk was very nice. Being pet friendly is an even bigger bonus! I'd absolutely stay there again.
- Paul (10/5): - Nothing
- Jackie (10/5): - Nice little motel, comfortable bed.
- Hind (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean room, good and nice motel
- sgholdings2017 (4/5): Not great to stay - Got to hotel checked in went to room last person who stayed in room never fully checked out I went to the office and they said they never did a full checkcout I stayed there 2 weeks and they only half hazardly ckeaned the room 3 times one day i asked for maid service 2 days in a row and got asked exactly what did i want I told them I just wanted them to make the bed and give room a quick tidy the manager just rolled his eyes definitely won't stay there again.
- Jeff (10/5): - Clean, convenient, friendly helpful staff.
- Trish (10/5): - This property is fantastic!! Clean, the bed was very comfortable, the deep tub and rain head shower were awesome. It was SUPER QUIET. it’s right on the highway and I heard nothing. The fellow who checked me in waited because I was quite late arriving and he was really friendly. I will absolutely stay here again.
- Kelsey (6/5): - The Florence is a comfortable enough stay, but it feels very basic when you stay here. This would be totally fine pre LNG when the prices weren't $139 /night.
The bed is comfortable, and the rooms are sparsely furnished. Toiletries are limited to bar soap ONLY, but that doesn't seem to matter as there is frequently no hot water on site.
I checked out at 7am and found there was nobody on staff, and no hot, luke warm, or even tepid water. It was a less than desirable way to start my day.
Front desk staff at night is great.
- janet (8/5): - Close to highway and restaurants.
- Catriona (6/5): - Lots of shift workers stay here ... Cars and slamming doors at 1 am ,3 am , 5 am :-(
- Michelle (10/5): - Ruben was polite and very friendly as always. This was our second stay. There was some confusion prior to our stay as it appeared Expedia overbooked. Ruben went out of his way to find us another hotel in a very busy weekend. False alarm, our reservation was booked twice. I enjoy this property and it looks like they are expanding. We will visit here again next time we return this way.
- Michelle (10/5): - Pleasant staff. The hotel is usually booked with long term area workers, pipeline and forestry. They treat it as their home, quiet and respectful. You are close to fast food restaurant and just off the highway.
- Laura (4/5): - Room was clean - but NO PLUG for the tub-
The bed was horrible - metal frame with a thin mattress!
-the phone cable would not attach to the phone, and a car was parked in our room spot!
Didn’t like having the truck 4 spots down from our room!
Will not stop there again-
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, quiet friendly staff lots of businesses near by
Had a really good night
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small comfortable rooms. A bit noisy due to the late comings and early goings but seems to be largely industry workers. Could smell cigarette smoke in my room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a very good stay thank you. We meet some cute puppy and just had a great nights sleep.
- Shawn (6/5): - Very run down property. The bed was slightly more comfortable than it looked.
- Ken (6/5): - I knew it wasnt top of the line but was not even close to many reviews. Very old and run down at least my room. So tiny I told the wife it is a 1 bed for work camp. Tiny cheap desk and small tv but that is all there was room for. Saying that if you can stand that part the place was nice and quiet, bed was real comfy and actually texted the wife later than usual in the morning because I slept in. On an 11 day road trip and has been the lowest quality so far and I am almost done. Guy at front desk was awesome as well and made the start much better. Tough call on ratings on this one. I think a little fixing and this could be a hidden gem for those quick overnite stops. Would I take my wife here not a chance but I dont regret the stay as I was well rested the next day.
- Leona (8/5): Comfy and cozy - We arrived and requested an upgrade. The front desk graciously upgraded to a kitchenette. A very nice, cozy stay. Would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quiet location, nice bathroom, staff were very pleasant.
- Catrabbit1980 (6/5): Okay for a one night stay. - We stayed one night in this typical motel during our road trip to Alaska. The gentleman at the desk was very friendly. The room was okay for just one night (even though it was a little pricey). We had some doubts about the cleanliness of the sheets and towels because they were beige (probably on purpose !). We weren't bothered by the noise despite the motel being right off the road. The coffee machine and fridge were very much appreciated.
- Aude (6/5): Okay for a one night stay. - We stayed one night in this typical motel during our road trip to Alaska. The gentleman at the desk was very friendly. The room was okay for just one night (although a little pricey). We had some doubts about the cleanliness of the sheets and towels because they were beige (probably on purpose !). We weren't bothered by the noise despite the motel being right off the road. The coffee machine and fridge were very much appreciated.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Convenient but not great for price.
Old facility, very basic, clean but small and dated
- Jeff (6/5): - A very simple motel. The TV did not work but otherwise the room clean and simple.
- Terrie (2/5): Disgusting - This place was so smelly that we cancelled our booking after checking out the condition of the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Assigned parking outside your door. Small but clean. Perfect as an overnight stop while traveling.
- Steven (8/5): - Basic amenities, clean, comfortable at a good value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Simple and cheap exactly what I needed. Only problem was the smell from the towels or bathroom after my shower that took over the room. Went away by morning
- Jed (8/5): - The motel was fairly priced for the accommodations. Although they don't have ac, everything was clean, tastefully decorated with super comfortable beds.
- gn400xt (6/5): Nice quiet and clean kitchenette - We spent two nights here as a 'base camp' for a quick trip up the Stuart-Cassier highway. Our room had two rooms, one bed in each room, with a clean little kitchenette and a large clean bathroom. It was within walking distance to a nice restaurant/pub, a DQ and an A&W. I'd book rooms here again in the future. The room was - I felt - expensive ($105 + tax) for what you got, however it was no more expensive than any of the other places we looked at in Smithers, so I have to say that the price was reasonable within the location.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No air conditioning in the room motel shows its age
- Verified traveler (6/5): Motel appearance needs improvement - The outside flower and grass need improvement. I judge a hotel to a certain degree by first impressions. Muddy and sandy parking lots, weeds in gardens, cars that have windows down and a flat tire make me wish I had not made a reservation.
- Shelley (8/5): Florence Motel - The staff was friendly and helpful. Nice homey felling
- denisr302 (4/5): First place i hit in town. - $108 canadian for two double (not queen) beds. The good. Quiet Room available with more or less adequate parking for my 51’ truck/boat n trailer combo. It is parked in a gravel median between hotel parking and a street. Will see if it survives the night w all the liquored up hotel patrons coming n going. Lots of hot water. Good wifi. Monday nite football. Coffee maker w coffee. Microwave and refer that appear to work. The needs improve. Really old and stained carpet. (Wear slippers or something on your feet.) Super bad grease/oil stains on pillow cases. I used my shirt as a slip cover. Makes ya question whether bedding is clean. No heat. Room smells like cat urine. Super bad stains on all three chair seat covers. Recommend not sitting on them! 😬 Velour bath towels do not absorb water. Basically just smear it around. Had to use a hand towel to get dry after showering. Finally, it sucks not havin inet while transiting canada. So that is on me and my mobile carrier. I could not review places ahead of arrival. I had hoped to stay in a nice little place in new hazelton but it was no vac.
- DaQi (6/5): Average accomodations near the highway - Had a long drive down the Cassiar highway and was looking for somewhere to crash. After driving through town this low key hotel caught our eye. We ended up with the last room and it suited us just fine. The manager pulled out an extra mattress so one of the kids didn't have to share with her sister which worked out well. The internet was okay but not bad. The room was quite hot and the window air conditioner was noisy and only covered one the main room and not the second bedroom. Despite all that we slept well. There was a kitchenette but other than the fridge we didn't use it. The room was clean but a bit run down. Not a lot of options in Smithers close to the highway. Not sure I would stay here again but it suited our needs.
- 311brianh311 (8/5): Clean, neat and very tidy - A great little motel to stay - nice and close to the main street in Smithers. The room I was in had a very nice little kitchenette. The bed was very comfortable, everything was neat and tidy and very clean.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Condition of room was less than expected, peeling flooring, no screens on windows. Wasp next under our door, management was notified and the wasp nest was not dealt with during our stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Typical old motel. Grungy smelling rooms and no air conditioning
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Make sure to check for clean towels etc before you try to take a shower.
The towels we had in the room had blondish grey hair all over them.
I was lucky enough my son was able to run to grab clean towels from house keeping.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Nice, clean, and simple - Fast, easy check-in, with wifi password. The room had everything I needed. It had solid, moppable-floors, so I felt the floors were CLEAN. The room had 3 chairs, for a room accomodating a maximum of 2 people, so that was more than adequate - and appreciated! Bed was very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Warm quiet place. - Older motel, but clean and quiet. Smithers is a beautiful place
- Sott (10/5): Quiet, within walking distance of everything - All around nice stay- within walking distance of everything important. Nice large wall mounted TV!!!
- James (8/5): Pleasant stay - Clean room, very comfortable bed. Starting to show its age, but enjoyed our stay. Convenient to find and other than some noisy guests, very quiet.
- Tim (6/5): Nice place to stop when traveling - The Hotel was fine and it worked well for my trip.
I would stay there again when I am in Smithers.
- kristenbW5699HZ (10/5): OMG, what a great hotel - This motel looks deceiving from the outside, but OMG the rooms are well renovated and up to date. A must stay in Smithers. The gentleman who checked us in was very knowledgeable and friendly. Well located to other retail stores.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Meh - It was ok. The room was pricier than I expected but the front desk gave a small refund. I'm happy they did. The room was freezing when I checked in and took forever to warm up and I had to leave the thermostat turned all the up. The floor stayed cold. The room was a good size and clean.
- Rick (6/5): Stopped here while passing through town - This is an older property. It is clean and well kept but it needs updating to get a higher rating. Parking is tight and I could hear voices and the TV from the adjoining rooms. The staff is very friendly and service oriented. I had no problems but would look for something more modern next time I am traveling through Smithers.
- Jen Collier (8/5): Nice clean Place for a great price - Perfect place to
Stay and it looks like our room had new flooring, nice tv, clean bathroom
Will deffinately stay here again as the price was low
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room was cold and smelled of cigarettes. For a non-smoker this was difficult to bear. Room was very basic and bed comfort can be improved.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Basic place to sleep - It was clean but small. Good value. What you would expect for the price.
- U6303HUjuliam (8/5): Exactly what I was looking for! - I booked into this Motel because I wanted a kitchenette and I wanted to park in front of my door and avoid a long walk down a smelly hallway. The Motel was even better than I expected; I haven't seen a kitchen this well equipped in a long time. It has a regular stove with an oven and a full fridge with a freezer. It was clean and quiet with all of the rooms located on one floor so there wasn't anyone stomping around above me. They had an inexpensive single rate without a kitchen but like cooking my own food and avoiding the cost of restaurants. It was still only $85. I would recommend this motel to anyone.
- Derek (8/5): Quiet room even though the Highway is close - Check in lady was most helpful. I had made a mistake on my reservation. She was most patient with me and the issue was resolved and I was very happy!
- SBTimeTraveler (2/5): Unscrupulous Business Practices - I made a reservation early that day to ensure I had a place to stay that night, as in many small towns there had been no vacancies this week.Their advertisement was for an economical kitchette. (Should have been my first clue). I spoke with the owner. He told me that he had no one bed kitchenettes open, but he had a two bedroom open. I took it.
When I arrived and spoke with the person at the desk, and she looked quizically at me as to why I as a single guest would have a two room kitchenette. I told her that the owner had said their were no one bed rooms. The flash of her eyes betrayed the fact that their were, but she merely said, "Oh, I was wondering a single person wanted two rooms."
Following my payment, which was NOT "economical" by any stretch of the imagination, I was informed that there was bacteria in the water in the town, and there were "boil restrictions" in place. She said I could take a shower, but that I should brush my teeth with bottled water, which they were SELLING! As a nurse, a myriad of things stmt through my head like bacteria can get through mucous membranes, your eyes, your mouth, cuts, dry skin...And all people typically come to a motel for is to sleep and to shower.
As I fell through the door because of an awkwardly fixed up step, I was so disappointed to see that one of the blind pieces was missing from the window covering, and that you could see right in my stifling hot room. Worse, the bed was right under this window, so people could obstensively watch you sleep! Good thing I had that extra back bedroom with with an open window....Also, the fan in was broken, so it remained stifling hot...
To top it all off, the run down place had been piece mealed together, and there were cords running awkwardly all over using up the sockets I might have needed to charge anything. One particularly bad one was actually the phone cord, which was stretched across the room on one side of the bed about six inches from the floor like a trio wire.
All in all, this place was a horrible experience, it was not safe, and although I cannot prove it in totality, the owner has unscrupulous business practices, and it really needs to be looked into.
DON'T GO HERE! RUN!
- guidobra (2/5): Too expansive for what you have - Really a old structure, similar to what you find on the road for 69 CAD, for three person we payed 129 CAD.
Enough clean but really low profile.
We are travelling all around West Canada and usually you pay what you have...
- Jimbo999186402 (10/5): Great Budget Motel, Great Staff - Bog standard, budget motel that is exactly what it says it is.
No airs and graces but it was clean, tidy, quiet and in a great location.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location to explore a gem of a town.
- fayo400 (8/5): Great for an overnight stay - Clean, quiet good value for the cost. Well equipped kitchenette. Staff friendly and happy to help. 5-10 minute walk into the town centre- you have to cross the busy highway although it's traffic ligh and cross walk protected.
- F9063XLfranks (4/5): I was lied to. - I received a reply to my email stating that only one room was available at the $95.00 rate for the date that we passing through, so I made a reservation. When we checked in at 5PM there were only 4 vehicles at the motel. When we returned after dinner, there was now 5 vehicles. Checking out the following morning, there was still only 5. No way were they fully booked. Now strangely, we were given a room with a kitchen, not at the $105.00 but at $75.00. When I made my reservation I asked for a confirmation number. This was followed by 2 more requests for confirmation. Finally I had to telephone, at this time I was told " we don't have confirmation numbers". I think that some sort of an acknowledgement would have been good. The room was clean but it was in need of repair. I would not stay there again.
- Via_girl (4/5): There’s better value in town - Not only is this place tired, it is noisy. There appears to be a family with children that have moved into one of the units. There’s no air conditioning and no bedside clock. After checking around town, we found 2 newer places with comparable prices that appear to be of better value. We will try these next time. Will not stay here again.
- I7286SOalisonm (2/5): Too expensive - I checked in for the advertised single rate but none available. Room was clean. Very very basic and dated. Bathroom was falling apart. Way too expensive compared to other, better appointed and renovated motel units in Prince Rupert and Clinton. Would not stay there again.
- 822EllenM (6/5): Kitchenette rooms are nice. - I've stayed here several times. It's clean, generally quiet and has a friendly staff. We usually stayed in a room w/kitchenette. These are spacious and have a well equipped kitchen.
Our most recent visit we stayed in a room w/queen sized bed and a door to the adjoining room. It was small, which was okay, but it was NOT QUIET. Amorous neighbors next door woke us several times. Do yourself a favor and get the kitchenette instead.
- Via_girl (2/5): Barely the basics - Convenient location, price is right but room was tired and carpet was dirty. Décor is dated. The first hotel I’ve ever stayed at where there were no toiletries supplied (shampoo, etc.). It does look like there is a newer part but that is not where we stayed.
- judadams7 (6/5): Florence Motel, BC - They advertise $69 for a single, I don't believe that exist. The place is central right next to the DQ and a school behind, which is nice to let the dogs out for a bit of a run. I saw locals utilizing it for they're pets so assumed it was ok. It was a comfortable room with laminate flooring. The walls are paper thin, fortunately the people on both sides were quiet and respectful, otherwise it could have been completely miserable. Wifi included. $5.00 fee per pet. There are lots of other places to stay in town, would check around bf. So far I'm very umimpressed with lodging choices in BC for the price. A good tip as your traveling along the AL-CAN. Call ahead for a room bc if you come in late you might not find a place to stay.
- vjtiff (8/5): Super simple but super clean - Conveniently located right on the highway and next to the Dairy Queen! Ha ha.The cleanest hotel room I think I have ever seen. Very basic room but good wi-fi and cable package. Coffee maker and mini fridge. Very friendly staff who go above and beyond to make you happy.
