- Robert (10/5): Excellent stay - The hotel portal colonial is a very nice, family run hotel. The rooms are spacious with air conditioning and a free breakfast. The property is safe, secure and quiet with a pool. It is walking distance to many stores and restaurants. It is a great place to stay.

- sharon (10/5): Great budget place to stay - Great budget hotel in a really good location, easy walking distance to Avenida Escazu mall. The owner is lovely, and The free breakfast in the morning was great. Coffee, orange juice, fruit, and a choice of eggs or pancakes. The pancakes were excellent. Great shower. Bed comfy but slightly firmer than I like. The only negative was that the AC was a bit noisy. When I’m back in San Jose, I would definitely stay here again.

It is only a few blocks from fast food restaurants and some reasonably nice restaurants. Just in case you forgot anything with your trip it’s only a few blocks from Walmart and a nice mall. Lucrecia and her staff are extremely helpful with Anything you need, from getting you day trips around the area to Getting your laundry done or most anything else you need. They are always smiling and happy. You couldn’t ask for a better place or better people.

Curtains could be replaced with blackouts and ceiling could replace the floor fan which much too powerful for the size of this small room. No protector on the mattress or on the pillow.

Food in the area is excellent whether at Tippico (local food) or Italian or American. Close to highway, shopping mall and local shopping.
