Guest Reviews
- Jeff (8/5): Great Place! Lots of fun hiking trails and the cabins were comfortable. - Great Place! Very comfortable! Limited cell service, but not a big huge deal.
- Ronald (10/5): -
- William (10/5): - Quiet, secluded, and well maintained gem. We will be back!
- Barbara (10/5): - The cabin was great. We don't have pets.
- Benjamin (10/5): - Loved being away from it all. Great rails for hiking.
- Whitney (10/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): Fantastic! Highly recommend. - This place is amazing! It feels very remote, yet it is only 3 miles off I-90. Beautiful and peaceful setting! We stopped here en route to my daughter’s wedding in the Grand Tetons, but I wish we knew about Homestake Lodge when looking for a place for a wedding. Would be a fantastic spot for a small wedding.
- Max (10/5): - Our stay was amazing. Lauren started talking to us early in the day to ensure they were ready for our arrival. She sent us directions and communicated with us all the way to the cabins. Nona the dog met us with one of the teen boys to ensure we were okay. They had a wagon for us so we had an easy time with luggage. We had a great walk on the property and truly enjoyed the outdoors. This is a much better value than a hotel. Stay here if you want to be close to Butte, Bozeman, or the Lewis and Clark Caverns.
- Kelly (10/5): - Has a remote feel while still being a 20 min drive from amenities. Lots of trails and hikes for the family. We have loved all of our visits here! The people hosting are friendly and helpful. It was a great experience besides all the ticks! Which I guess is expected at a cabin in the middle of the montana mountains.
- John (10/5): - Wonderful peaceful cabin experience!
- Sara (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay! I would recommend them replacing the twin bed mattress on main floor, it was awful! I would also recommend them adding extra poles between the big gaps on the spiral stair case, as my big 3 year old could fit easily through them and get seriously hurt or worse if he feel through them.
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hung (9/5): Love our stay here. -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (10/5): - Amazing property and hospitality!
- Gretchen (10/5): - After several days on the road with mediocre lodging, we were happy to arrive at Smith cabin. Clean, comfortable and perfect for our family of 6. My kids enjoyed playing in the outdoors and we had a good nights rest.
- Jean (8/5): - The listing needs to be more forthcoming about the spiral staircase you need to use to get to the beds (we barely were able to get up and down) just saying there is no elevator is not adequate as anyone using the Orbitz site wouldn't know that you needed to get upstairs to use the beds. Also, the wifi in public spaces in not quite accurate, it's only available in one space that can be used for work and not close to the cabin and you have to bother the hosts to access it. There should also be mention that phone service is practically unavailable.
- Bekka (10/5): Neat place, worth staying a couple of nights! - We were disappointed we were late arriving to Homestake Lodge. The area was remote, quiet and would have loved to explore more. My whole family wished we were staying another night! Communication was great and helpful. No complaints at all!
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Winter storm warning was issued on the day of our arrival. Homestake was in touch via text on current road conditions and what we might expect when we arrived. This extra service was really appreciated. As it turned out, they just got a dusting, but it made for good pictures in the morning. When we couldn't figure out how the oven worked in our cabin they were there in a minute with a smile and a quick lesson.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gregory (9/5): Superb -
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeffrey (10/5): Peaceful retreat - Everything! Our host, Lauren, was responsive and informative. The cabin comfortably furnished and perfect for the two of us. We took a leisurely walk around the property, enjoying the peace and quiet. While the cabin provided all of the needs to make meals, including a grill, we opted to go to town for dinner, which was just about 15-20 minutes away. We would definitely stay again if in the area. n/a
- Rebecca (10/5): An amazing property, in an amazing location. The cabin we stayed in was so cozy and comfortable. I could live there! - Location was awesome, clean, comfortable, and they were very accommodating for our very late arrival.
- Charla (10/5): Peaceful stay close to Butte - Beautiful stay near main roads but appears off the grid. Peace and quiet. Comfortable bed. Great little kitchen, Nothing. It was great
- Tiffany (10/5): Gorgeous mountain cabin setting. Went for a sunrise hike in the woods right from the front door! - Beautiful natural setting. Loved the log cabin Nothing
- Matthew (10/5): - The owners were very communicative. Great location to “ get away”. Sitting on front porch and listening to thunder while it rained was wonderful . Not far from town but it feels middle of nowhere
- Barbeth (10/5): It was great, we would definitely stay again! - Great location and beautiful property. Very clean and well taken care of. Would like to have coffee first thing in the morning. There was a coffeemaker, grinder and filters but no coffee.
- Kenneth (10/5): Moving from Arizona to Indiana - Extremely relaxing. Very quiet. Mark and Lauren were very kind. Loved everything about it! It was our first time in Montana. It was worth the trip!
- Curtis (10/5): Exceptional - The yurt is a great place to stay
- Patrick (2/5): - This was the absolute worst experience. I booked the cabin in March for July 27. I was traveling from out of state for a music festival. Midday of the 27th I received a call from the property stating that my cabin would not be available. No explanation, just unavailable. This caused a serious inconvenience and forced me to find lodging at a much higher rate than the Homestake property. I would not recommend this property
- Katherine (10/5): Amazing!!! This was our favorite overnight stay during our 2 week trek through the area. - Location, views, owners were incredibly responsive and helpful with directions to the cabin, as it is a bit off the beaten path- but easy to get to. It didn’t present a problem for us, but the distance from the parking area to the cabin is gravel and a bit of an incline. For travelers with large bags or disabilities it could be an issue.
- Benjamin (9/5): Superb - Beautiful remote location. Well maintained cabin. Uncomfortable and noisy bed. No cell service or WiFi. I was also overcharged $2 by the property with no explanation.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): Peaceful chance to unplug - The hosts were beyond helpful and kind. It was easy to find. Off the beaten path and peaceful but not too far out of the way. The small cabin we stayed in was perfect and clean. Fresh clean Montana air. My son already asked to return with an ATV for all the trails and a fishing pole. Really the only semi negative thing was our cabin didn't have wifi which was actually nice to unplug but I was traveling alone with kids and needed to touch base with home to let them know where we were. A quick walk up to a bench fixed that problem.
- George (10/5): A great adventure location for the off the highway traveler. - Beautiful setting on the Continental Divide. the cabin was beautiful and well appointed. It is an adventure in this setting and the terrain reminds you that you are immersed in nature.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Holly (10/5): - Beautiful property
- Ozgur (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donald (10/5): Perfect even with the snow. - So beautiful. The cabin was simple but perfect for the environment.
- Love (10/5): Absolutely love this place! - Cabin in the woods - literally!!! quiet, peaceful...beautiful yet a short drive to Butte! no microwave
- Patricia (8/5): awesome getaway, great ski trails - could bring my dog
fantastic cleanliness
fantastic staff
not fancy but all things functional in cabin nothing
- B (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Hernandez (10/5): Great scenery and an all around great place to stay. - everything was clean and all the essentials were provided.
- Brendakp (9/5): Cute mountain cabin - Cute little cabin in the trees. We heard coyotes the 2nd morning there which was cool. Lauren and her husband were helpful, friendly, and easy to work with. We will stay again!
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronley (10/5): - The cabins were nice & clean, the setting beautiful and peaceful. kitchen had full refrigerator and gas stove, beds comfortable. Bathroom/Shower was good--plenty of hot water. The owners were friendly, responsive and flexible. It was a good value for a cabin right at the continental divide!
- Craig (10/5): Great place to stay. Excellent customer service. Lovely cabin. Very secluded. -
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (10/5): Phenomenal cabin in a perfect location with comfortable and clean accommodations - gorgeous setting and beautiful cabin nothing
- Thomas (10/5): Very comfortable cabin, amazing location and friendly owner. - We were made to feel really welcome on arrival. The location is breathtaking and the trails from the cabin are absolutely lovely.
- Susan (10/5): We stayed one night while traveling from Yellowstone to Glacier National Park. We loved our stay! - The lodge was clean and our host was extremely accommodating! Wish we could have stayed longer!
- Matthew (10/5): Awesome place. Would definitely go back. - Beautiful property and very peaceful. Owners were awesome and easy to work with. They made us feel very welcome and comfortable.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is one of the coolest places we’ve ever stayed. The hosts were amazing and full of information and tips. The view was 100 times better than the pictures showed. I highly recommend this property!
- Jacob (10/5): Awesome! - A truly beautiful place, amazing views. My kids loved climbing on the rocks nearby, and hiking anywhere in the area is quite easy as the woods are not overgrown nearby. It’s a quick 18 minute run into Butte if you need anything at all, but I’d suggest bringing all you need because you won’t want to leave! The owners were very accommodating, and the place was very comfortable. I really hope to stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My family and I will definitely be staying at Homestake Lodge again! It was such a beautiful cabin and such a friendly host. Lauren texted and called us before we arrived to make sure we had no problem finding the place.
- Catherine (10/5): Remote and beautiful - This is a remote lodge in a beautiful setting! The cabin was very nice, clean and comfortable. The owners were fantastic and communication was great. There is no access to food here, but they owners made that clear so I knew to bring my own. It was peaceful and has great hiking, it was exactly what I was looking for.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Tranquility in a true Montana setting. Cross country trails were wonderful hiking trails during summertime. Would definitely go back for a visit.
- Justin (10/5): So beautiful, relaxing and quiet. - Our family loved staying here. We played games and went on hikes. The cabin was cute and comfortable. I slept great! Perfect place to get quality family time. Owners were so nice and great. I really can’t say enough good things. If you are wanting a different experience than your typical hotel then this is your place. Just beautiful.
- Joshua (10/5): Getaway from it all... - From the moment we pulled up we were extremely happy with our choice of stay. The grounds are well-kept and the cabins are very comfortable. If you’re looking for a true getaway, this is the place for you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice secluded property set in very scenic area of Montana. Cabin i stayed in was very nice with memory foam mattresses. I highly recomend them, really set up best for multiple night stays so you can really experience the lodge ammenities.
- Raymond (10/5): Spring Break Family Time - We stayed the night with our grand daughters and had an amazing family time. The cabin was awesome. I would recommend to anyone who wants quality family time.
- Suzan (8/5): Remote but SO worth it! - What a fun place to stay!! We were expecting a cabin... but nothing like this! We did not realize how 'remote' this place was or that we should have been better prepared with food options BUT it was an amazing place to stay! So georgeous... beautiful trails and views. Lauren was so communicative and easy to work with!
We loved the cabin and the arrangements. If we had been better prepared, we would give this a 12 out 10!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The cabin was private, clean, nicely decorated. The surrounding area and trails were beautiful.
