I got none of that, which was very disappointing and not okay. Owner said that unit was occupied full time and he was trying to straighten out a problem with the photos on Booking.com. He was very nice but I believe I am owed compensation for the bait and switch, no matter whose fault it was. It was not my fault that I didn’t get what I paid for.

• alexander (4/5): rough outing - this is a very rustic venue. think of a 1950's rooming house with a series of rooms upstairs from a bar and restaurant. Sort of like a bed and breakfast. Our room was small, old, moldy, and the AC was loud but if not turned on, the air was stagnant. The couple that appeared to be in charge were nice and very relaxed, but had we needed to stay more than one night we would have looked for alternative lodging.

The quirky bar and restaurant attached to the hotel is just awesome. in the morning there were families showing up on dirt bikes. In the night there were crowds of young camp counselors from nearby camps. Atmostphere lively and fun. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating. Comfort food was TERRIFIC. The room was super quiet and pretty big too! Bathroom was clean adn big. the live music was this guy who was just FANTASTIC playing covers of 70s and 80s folk rock (miss america pie and stuff like that) - lots of singing along and just pure joy. Great place. It's a bit shabby, nothing is new. It's not high-end. It's just a weird little much-loved local spot for local people. if you're a clean-freak or a snob, you won't like it. everything's a little rustic, a little old. I highly recommend having a few too many drinks while singing along with the musician by the fire and then falling into bed and waking up to a FANTASTIC hangover breakfast. (the breakfast is included and do not miss it - just straight-on good comfort food.)

• Lisa (10/5): Great post ski hotel - We really appreciated being able to eat dinner at the restaurant after a day of skiing and then go upstairs to sleep. The food was reasonably priced and plentiful. The suite was perfect. There were plenty of beds for everyone to sleep and enough space that we didn't feel like we were all on top of one another. Everyone was able to order breakfast off of a menu so even though it was included it felt like getting to eat another restaurant meal.

• Maley (9/5): A great little overnight getaway. - I liked the openness of the property behind the lodge, the access to the trail, the back deck & patio area, the breakfast was delicious, the staff was friendly and everything was clean. It had an overall nice feel to the property & I would definitely recommend it to someone I knew traveling that way. Access to rooms could have been a little better, I didn’t really like having to walk around outside the lodge to get to my room. Traveling alone as a woman, i would have felt more comfortable.. Even if there was a gravel path to avoid walking around the side of the lodge through the grass or close to the road. The outside patio area was really nice, my only suggestion would be making the fire pit area with chairs more inviting & better maintained for guest use. None of these would keep me from returning, just a suggestion for how to improve a bit.

• Milda (7/5): Leave your city judgements and think flannel and jeans and you'll be fine. - The breakfast was fantastic. The entire inn was sort of run-down but homey and charming. We hadn't anticipated a local band playing until 10pm but we decided to stay up and go downstairs to the bar and be locals and we had a wonderful time - really, everyone was so nice and so okay this inn has been there since the dawn of time--get over yourself and your judgement of the decor. The bathroom was newly renovated and no one was snobby -- everything was functional and clean. The view of the mountains from the toilet was spectacular! Haha! it really was great. You could feel the economic hardship that the pandemic wrought on the place - they need more customers to infuse cash so they can do renovations. It must be hard to run an inn this way - but it was close to our kid's camp and really the breakfast was generous and great -- the only real downside was that it took 40 minutes to make a couple of eggs. If they could be a little faster in the kitchen, it would be totally fine. Loved the new waitress (I think she was the kid of the owner-- such an enthusiastic and lovely young woman.)

• John (6/5): Interrupted sleep - The check in process was a joke. We were sent to a room and at 2am someone tried to enter the for about 20 minutes. Come to find out we were sent to the wrong room bc there wad no real check in which means that myself and this other family did not get the rooms we had paid for and were inconvenienced at 2am because of a lack of the most basic practices of running a hotel.
• Harris (10/5): - We booked our room for one night, only a day or so in advance, owing to a change in plans - it was available. The property is older, and not "plush", but is VERY CLEAN and well-maintained. In our room, the a/c was a window unit, which we did not need, since it was a cooler night, but the other two windows both worked, and were properly screened, so we enjoyed the "country air." The staff and owner (we met him over breakfast) are very friendly -- not "trained" friendly, but rather honestly friendly. The included breakfast was simple, but plentiful, and EXCELLENT, (the owner is culinarily trained, and it showed.) Coffee (regular and decaf) were both top-notch. There is a small bar -- we did not have time for a drink, but the bartender and patrons seemed friendly. NOTE: There are stairs, and not sure if any rooms are on the ground floor. Last thing - we left behind a pair of bluetooth earphones, and when we called back after two days, they had found them, and we were able to pick them up since we were still in the area. We would definitely return again in the future!

We were upgraded to an apartment at no charge because we asked for a rollaway and it would've been tight, so even before we got there we were impressed. Then we got there and every single person was super nice. Oh, and the food is pretty good. I would recommend this place to anyone who had to stay in the area (we were visiting camps and didn't want to leave so early in the morning so we left night before). Made the weekend so much better than it otherwise would've been! Thank you to everyone there!

We have pets and apparently there’s a different area of rooms for pets but when we checked in we weren’t told that. They put us in a room at the top of stairs. We were there for a wedding. We left our dogs in the room with a manual air conditioner on. When we came back air conditioner was off and curtains were clamped shut. That’s not how we left the room. We told them someone came in our room and the first thing owner says is we would be charged a pet fee because we weren’t in the right room! I’m sorry, the customer doesn’t know where the rooms are or your policies. And if I’m informing you that someone was in my room all I hear is you don’t care and on top of that you want to charge me for something that when I checked in should have been discussed. Bad customer service.

• Verified traveler (2/5): - I have to say how disappointed I am. The pictures do not reflect what the property even looks like. First of all, you have to go through this run down bar, and ask for a staff member. I already started feeling unsafe. We got our keys and head to the room. You have to park on side of road. And walk to room. We had to clear our spider webs in front of our door. Walked into the room, smelled like crap. Sheets looked like they have not been washed in years. And no security lock on the door. I will be disputing the charge with American Express. Hope someone reaches out to me to rectify.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - The location was good, as it was nearby the camp we were visiting. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The facilities are somewhat run-down.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Certainly rustic but staff were super friendly. Restaurant has decent bar type food for dinner, but breakfast was the highlight for me. Great home fires, and the freshly cooked breakfast sandwich was awesome.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant enough, but... - It's been a week since our weekend visit to Lakewood Lodge and I can say that we're all well. We arrived last Friday night for a two night stay in order to ski at Elk Mountain which is 20 minutes away. Jim was there to greet us, with a mask, and showed us to our nice and comfortable room. Although it was nothing fancy, we're used to basic accommodations in this part of the Poconos. In addition to the double queen room, we were able to take advantage of the free breakfast and had dinner here two nights as well. Both meals were adequately served without any complaints on quality. The only negative for us was the fact that none of the waitresses wore masks to wait on tables. We're coming from an area of Pennsylvania where mask-wearing is accepted as part of the fight against COVID, in order to help ensure going out to restaurants is a safe experience. Not so here. While many of the patrons would wear their masks to their tables, not all thought this was worthwhile. I get that in this part of the world they have different priorities and beliefs. Hopefully future visitors will enjoy the same good fortune we experienced.

• Vinnie (6/5): - We had a similar arrival experience to other reviews. When we saw the place at first, we wondered if we made a mistake. It took longer than normal to get a key to our room, but that wasn't really a big deal and we got our key by the bar. The woman who helped me get the key and showed us the room was very nice. Positives: The food and beer selection at the bar was pretty good. Breakfast was made by the owner, who was a nice guy. It was also good and we ate outside on the deck, which was probably the highlight of the stay. We would come back for food, if passing through the area again. Negatives: We stayed in room C. We both weren't sold that the sheets were changed since the last people stayed. That really grosses me out, especially during the pandemic. The bed was truly the stiffest mattress we've ever slept on. We almost went back outside to grab out camping air pads to put on top of the mattress. We should have. We slept terribly and the very loud AC woke us up every time it clicked on. My girlfriend would roll over and say, "not worth $120" and try to go back to sleep. We turned off the AC at some point. Overall, neither of us would stay there again and we didn't feel it was worth $110 for a night (about 120 with tax), but the food was good.
• Paul (10/5): Friendly place - A wonderful place to stay after bicycling 60 miles. This is my 2nd time staying here and I hope to return. The room was clean,the bed comfortable, and the restaurant has great food. Breakfast with coffee is provided in the morning to get you going. Perfect.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall, a fun and quirky place if you're looking for an experience off the beaten track. The rooms have been recently updated. They are comfy, cozy, clean, and the room C has an incredible view. There's not reception desk, we got our key at the bar. The staff was very nice, and we had a couple awesome conversations with the owner and others. The owner made us a stellar breakfast in the morning. The bar is a fun hangout in the evening if you're up for chatting with the locals. The pool table is a nice amenity, but really needs a cleaning. Really. When you first walk in to this place, you'll wonder if you made the right choice. But as you leave, you'll be glad you took a chance.
• Karen (8/5): - Everyone was very nice, it was very clean, but I didn't realize the bathroom was shared with everyone on the hallway. I expected a private bathroom. I was uncomfortable with this set-up. Even though the price was lower than other places, I probably would have chosen to pay a little more and have a bathroom, had I known. Also, this photo is taken from behind the building. When you drive up this is definitely not what you see. However, overall, it served the purpose, a low price for a clean, friendly place to spend the night.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff of this facility were very friendly & accommodating. I traveled with my dog & it was nice to be able to sit & eat on the patio area as well. The room does not come with any amenities as is, but they were able to accommodate a mini fridge upon request. The bathroom was also a bit small, but it was nice that it included soaps & a hair dryer for your use. The bed was also very comfortable. I would not listen to complaints, it was a nice place to stay.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - i made my reservation at the last minute and was picking up my daughter from a nearby camp. given some of the past reviews,I was expecting the worst. however, i was pleasantly surprised at the very nice room, decent bedding, and nice view out to the mountains. the woman who checked me in was very friendly and helpful. only very disappointing thing was that the wifi did not work and i had expected to do significant work before meeting my daughter at camp.
• lmajor (6/5): - Our stay at Lakewood Lodge was ok. The first night we stayed there some other guests came in very noisy after midnight, and talked very loud for at least an hour and a half. A breakfast was included, and was very good. Our room could have been a little cleaner. Overall not bad. Would stay there again.

• Lorne (8/5): Quick overnight - Attention Anglers - I needed a place to stay just for the night prior to attending an event the next day. I checked hotels.com website and Lakewood was showing about 15 min, 6 miles from my event, I booked it on the fly. The complimentary breakfast was very good. I plan to return next month. - fishing lakes and Delaware River close by. Crosscurrents Guide Service and Whitetail Fly Shop 15 minutes away.
• Verified traveler (2/5): - The pictures of the rooms of this place are all fake. From the pictures you assume you will be in a separate lodge where in fact you get a room above their restaurant. We were on the third floor in a very small and smelly room with water-stains all over the walls, an uncomfortable bed where you could feel the springs, the window that didn't open, no outlet for the small fridge and a shared bathroom that was gross. The worst place I have EVER stayed at.
• Jen (6/5): - Good breakfast! And nice staff. Very old bed frame. Building rather old and dingy.
• Tee (2/5): - The outside looks ok. The inside is totally horrible. Nothing like a motel. It’s scary and doesn’t feel safe the locks on the door is weak and could have easily been very men with just a nudge. The bathroom had a latch on it that separate the other room. The bed was super old the springs was sticking in my back. No comforter. The sheet was super thin. Never been to a motel or hotel where the towel was brown. The tub had scum ringings in it the shows sign of not being washed. Didn’t get any sleep cause I didn’t feel safe but had no choice but to stay cause I checked late and had to take my daughter to camp and I was far awAy from home. I would never ever check it this place again. At $92 I didn’t expect it to be so bad. Doing blind reservation is something I will never do. Even in a desperate situation.
