- Swapnil (10/5): -
- Wai Ling (7/5): Delicious dinner - Nice place, close to centre, only 4 minutes drive No lift, we have to carry luggage upstairs from reception to upper floor ourselves

- Margaret (10/5): I would definitely go back! - We loved being in the countryside. We rented bikes from the property to go into town. It’s a bit nerve racking biking in town but I’m pretty good on a bike. I didn’t like the repeating music. They really need to do better on that score!
- Takashi (8/5): -
- Laurie (8/5): - Very genuine Japanese experience for us Americans! Enjoyed it. Staff were lovely. Food was plentiful and beautifully presented. I’m unaccustomed to Japanese cuisine,so I was intrigued by all the many little dishes filled with food I’d never tried before. Highly recommended!
- Renos (5/5): -
- ATSUSHI (6/5): -
- Jody (9/5): Good food, nice outdoor bath, but a little too far from town. - We had a tatami room with outside tub which was very relaxing. Nice dinner and breakfast. We came by train, so it was not too convenient for town. We did walk to and from each day and it was a pleasant walk, just a little far. The meals are a little confusing and dinner needs to be ordered one day prior.

- Shinsuke (5/5): -
- Bronwyn (9/5): - The food was exceptional. I really enjoyed all meals. The staff were also very helpful. The location is slightly out of town in a very pleasant rural environment. The facilities are slightly aging but still very comfortable.
- Charles (7/5): Pottery traveller - The cleanliness, the location and the staff. The food.
- ayumi (6/5): -
- Caroline (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing place to stay in an incredible pottery town! - Amazing place to stay! Gorgeously prepared breakfast and dinner courses, with very kind staff. Highly recommend Mashikokan. We booked a room with a private open air bath and that was one of our favorite parts! Everything was wonderful!
- Priska (8/5): alles war gut. - alles
- Richard Winfield (10/5): Exceptional in every way, easy, friendly accommodating faultless - Wonderful staff, room and facilities Nothing
- Ian (10/5): -
- James (9/5): - This place is the first stop on a cycling tour and is always a big hit with my members as it is their first experience with staying at a ryokan and bathing at an onsen. Wonderful food, nice rooms and a relaxing onsen. We will be back!
- Kazue (10/5): -
- Chris (10/5): -
- Arie (8/5): -
- Stacy (10/5): Kind and helpful staff, delicious traditional meals if you book for them - best location to stay for Mashiko ceramics hu - If you’re pilgrimaging to Mashiko for the ceramics and ceramic history- this is the place to stay. The Japanese meals were also incredible and the staff in the dining hall (be sure to make reservations- be aware that the few restaurants in town a mile away close early and taxi service apps don’t work in Mashiko) - the front desk staff was also extremely patient and helpful. There is very little English speaking in the countryside, but the people try hard to help, learn a few words of Japanese and use translation apps! The other inns are n the far side of town, but Mashikokan is walkable to the main roadif you’re in good shape and don’t walk after dark - advice: rent their bicycles for the day to see the sights - really lovely farmlands and wildlife spotting - bring mosquito repellent! Would have been nice to have snack options in the lobby shop - and sad that the waterfall at the onsen was turned off (yes, it looks like a very real and beautiful waterfall but its flow is controlled by the facilities, we witnessed it turned on briefly for a visiting group, but then immediately shut off again- plenty of rainfall happened so not sure why it was off) also really wish the outside mineral hotspring bath didn’t have chlorine in it - but it’s a peaceful and beautiful soak early in the morning and after dark when the frogs are croaking!
- Shigeko (5/5): Passable -
- Stuart (8/5): Very good -
- Sim (7/5): Good - None No bathroom in the room to shower if u booked tatami type.
- Shannon (9/5): Superb - Stunning private tubs
- Takako (7/5): Good -
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Pamela (8/5): - Please note that this from the perspective of a westerner (Canada) — This was a very traditional Japanese resort. The baths and hot tub were great. Breakfast was a set menu and traditional Japanese fare — while it was an interesting experience, it was also very non-traditional for us. Best to have a vehicle when visiting here as town and restaurants are a 2 km walk or a $12-18 taxi ride. The staff were great and we communicated through a translation app, as most spoke no English and our Japanese is no better. This provided a truly immersive Japanese experience.
Atendimento excelente. Localização bem afastado da cidade. Bem perto da natureza.
- Kaneyoshi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (3/5): The experience was a disappointment and far below the online description. - Staff behavior was odd, to say the least. The decor was a complete mishmash and the online photos did not represent reality. I had to ask for a different room because the first offered was dark and dingy.
- Amanda (8/5): Very good - The staff went above and beyond to be helpful despite the language difference. The young lady on the front desk could not have been more helpful. It was a short taxi ride out of town, but very manageable. Accomodation was dated but clean & quiet
- Wayne (8/5): Ok - We were able to book online Layout of stairs and locations of onset and breakfast
- Stephen (8/5): Very presentable , great staff and a true Japanese experience - The ONSEN Distance from town
- Victor (8/5): Very good - Dinner and breakfast are exceptionally good Property is quite rundown
- James (8/5): Great facility for my group of touring cyclists. I hope to return next year. - As a group of touring cyclists, the staff were helpful upon our arrival with suggesting where to store our bikes and assisting with check-in. The breakfast and dinner were delicious and the serving staff were very polite and helpful.
- Gratten (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolyn (8/5): Mashiko is lovely and this accommodation was overall comfortable and welcoming - Great hot spring bath. Big room and lovely outlook of hills and forest. We were given lovely robes to wear and the staff tried very hard to help us with our poor language skills. It did feel a bit like a Wes Anderson movie. 1960/70s styling was actually charming, but it will need a refresh. The western style beds were a bit hard.
- Carole (10/5): - Wecloved the onsen baths. The people very helpful. The room lovely, the food delicious. The robes and the shop. We will come again. Thank you particularly to Yuki who was very kind to us.
- Cheng-fu (2/5): Very poor -
- Robin (4/5): Disappointing - Friendly receptionist No restaurant, no food for dinner or breakfast. Miles away from town. Failed to respond to any request sent via booking.com in English or Japanese. Incredibly dated, insane reception design (does a band ever play?!?), air con doesn't cool the room within 12 hours of running. Strong avoid.
- Akio (9/5): Superb -
- Yuri (9/5): Superb - Stunning onsen baths.
Great rural location.
Friendly and helpful staff. N/A
- Lau (7/5): Good -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Sio (8/5): It was a great experience to visit this ceramic town. - The hot spring is good, hotel surroundings is nice and quiet. It needs a escalator between first and second floor.
- Philip (9/5): A pleasant Japanese experience near a delightful and amazing pottery town. - A quiet, peaceful, rural location. Staff were helpful and friendly. A good authentic Japanese experience.
