The highlight was the staff who were super friendly and went out of their way to help us with both sightseeing in Kathmandu and in preparation for our trekking. The courtyard for dining was beautiful and food/breakfast was great. Would highly recommend for a budget friendly and safe option for Kathmandu.
• martina (10/5): The Perfect Kathmandu Retreat Before and After Every Trek - I stayed at Hotel Taleju twice within less than two weeks — before and after my trek — and I can honestly say it confirmed all the reasons why I keep choosing this place whenever I return to Kathmandu. For trekkers, this hotel is simply perfect. They safely stored my luggage while I was away in the mountains for many days, and coming back here afterwards felt incredibly comforting. The atmosphere is warm, peaceful and genuinely welcoming. The location in Thamel is excellent: central, convenient and close to everything, but the hotel itself still feels calm and relaxing. The rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable, with great beds and everything needed to properly rest after long travel days or trekking adventures. One of my favorite moments every morning was breakfast in the garden courtyard. Sitting there with coffee while hearing birds singing in the background is such a beautiful and unexpected experience in Kathmandu. The staff deserves a special mention because they are truly kind and attentive. They helped with everything, always smiling, and made me feel cared for during both stays. I also tried the spa treatments after trekking and they were wonderful — exactly what your body needs after days in the Himalayas. Considering the quality of the rooms, the service, the restaurant, the airport pick-up and the overall experience, the value for money is exceptional. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kathmandu, especially fellow trekking lovers. Nothing, everything super good!

• martina (10/5): My Home in Kathmandu — The Perfect Base for Every Nepal Adventure - I think this must be my third or fourth time staying at Hotel Taleju in Thamel, and every single time I come back to Kathmandu, I honestly don’t even consider other options anymore. I’m completely Nepal-addicted, I love trekking, and Hotel Taleju has become my home away from home in Kathmandu. The location is absolutely perfect: right in the heart of Thamel, close to everything, yet peaceful enough to relax after long trekking days. The staff is one of the biggest reasons why I keep returning — they are genuinely warm, welcoming and caring, and every time they make me feel like family rather than just a guest. The breakfast is lovely, but what makes it truly special is having it in their beautiful inner garden while listening to the birds singing. It’s pure magic and such a peaceful way to start the day in chaotic Kathmandu. The restaurant food is also very good, and the overall value for money here is honestly incredible. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, very clean and exactly what you need before and after trekking adventures. I also tried the spa twice and was genuinely impressed — absolutely up to standard and perfect for recovering after long hikes in the mountains. One of the things I appreciate the most is how helpful they are with trekkers: they safely store your luggage while you disappear into the Himalayas for 10–12 days, and they always welcome you back with a smile when you return exhausted and dusty from the trails. They often even include airport pick-up service, which makes arriving in Kathmandu so much easier and stress-free. I truly cannot recommend Hotel Taleju enough. For me, Kathmandu means Hotel Taleju. Nothing, I will come back ♥️

• Thierry (8/5): - The location is great for just everything from good local cuisine restaurants to shoppings and convenience. The rooms and facility is clean and quiet. We were on the courtyard side. It is easy to arrange tours with kind and highly knowledgeable guide like Mr. Hari or multiple day activities up to Anapourna base camp by HL through the desk mgr, Januka. Great menu choices and breakfast is available at convenient hours. The bathroom was not so great for the shower stands by the toilet seat and sink. While a sliding curtain helps the bathroom get flooded and it can be slippery if you are not careful. Faucets knobs are reversed both sink and shower fixture. There is no appropriate bath towel holders. Bus ride to Pokhara took 8 hours while booked in a comfortable bus. There are plenty of road works half way through which cause heavy slowdown or just being stuck up to 35 minutes.

• David (10/5): Taleju Boutique is a peaceful landing spot if you’re visiting Kathmandu. - The location is tucked away in the Tamel neighborhood of Kathmandu. It is very clean. The rooms are basic and clean. The staff was very attentive. The food at the restaurant was very good. Considering the noise and chaos that’s going on outside, the hotel is peaceful and quiet. The patio was beautiful, and our room, being on the 4th floor, had access to a delightful rooftop patio. Really wonderful. Oh, and the security guy out front was very friendly and a pleasure to work with. The rooms are very basic, but we expected that. There was a private bathroom connected to our room and was adequate. Not fancy, but adequate.

• Regine (10/5): - Très bien situé. Joli, style newar, personnel très aimable, repas très bon, beau jardin, belle décoration. Les chambres sont très bien aussi. Vous pouvez obtenir une suite pour qlqs euros de plus. Je recommande vivement cet hotel.

• quazi shakil (9/5): A small oasis in Thamel - The staff were very helpful. The lady manager was very helpful to change our room since my wife had a health condition for which she couldn't climb stairs. She even gave two options to choose from. The room size is very nice and especially the rooms in the front building. Hot water was not at all a problem throughout our stay and the bathroom was spacious too. The staff at the restaurant were also very helpful

• Melanie (10/5): Super - Tolles Frühstück, super Wachdienst Die Türen lassen sich ein bisschen schwer schließen. Abends ist man dadurch unfreiwillig ein bisschen lauter, das sorgt für ein unangenehmes Gefühl gegenüber anderen Gästen. Andererseits ist das ja dann auch wieder "einheitlich".

• Ekkehard (10/5): Ein Empfehlung für den Aufenthalt in Kathmandu, genau die richtige Mischung. - Ein Hotel wie man sich es in Kathmandu wünscht. Besonders zu erwähnen ist die perfekte Lage, ein paar Meter nur bis ins quirlige Thamel, aber doch ruhig. Der Garten ist ein Traum und das Personal ist äusserst hilfsbereit und liebeswürdig. Sehr entgegenkommend war das Management bei Flughafen-Transfer und beim Aufbewahren von Gepäck. Leckeres Essen im Restaurant!

• Sarah (10/5): Best Place to Stay in Thamel - The Taleju had everything I needed after a trek. The room has a hot water kettle for tea; the bath had shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbush, etc and plenty of hot water for a long shower. There is a spa for a massage and same day laundry service. It was quiet and in a great location. It is reasonably priced. A face pillow on the massage table would have been nice and more cleansing for my facial.

• Evyatar (8/5): - It was quiet, the staff are nice and helpful. They have free filtered water, both in bottles in the room and a place to fill your bottles for going out. They let us store the luggage. When we returned after trek we were even upgraded for free to a bigger room. They also picked us up from the airport, and communication was very easy. It is on the edge of the Thamel, which has some benefits but of you are looking to be as central as possible to the thamel you should be aware of that (it is walking distance from everywhere). The shower doesn't have a stall inside the bathroom (only curtains) so it makes the whole room wet (like almost all places in Nepal).
