Guest Reviews
- Luke (10/5): - It’s beautiful! Right on the beach! So nice to have coffee sitting at their restaurant and looking out over the ocean.
- Dean (10/5): - Great property, beach front location and rooms are decent for the price. It’s my go to hotel when in Bohol.
- Allan (6/5): - They were doing construction on the beach in front of the hotel and you couldn’t see the beach and had a walk along way around the fenced off areas
- Thomas (10/5): Great beachfront stay - Had a lovely stay at this hotel. Location was perfect as it was right on the beach in the middle of lots of Bars and Restaurants. You will be spoiled for choice. There was a great deal of activities to do on the beach. And i liked that this was all within walking distance. Only two things i would criticise. First being that i didn’t understand the room cleaning policy during my stay. So my room wasn’t cleaned and towels wasn’t changed in the 5 days i stayed. (however, i did have 2 shower towels for a one person stay) and the second was that they have a big karaoke machine next to the restaurant and pool area. I found this to be randomly switched on during the afternoon and was extremely loud. Something to bear in mind if you want to relax by the pool or in the bar. I could hear this from inside my room. Over all staff was really friendly and accommodating and the hotel was a pleasant place to be.
- David (4/5): - Room (one of their higher priced rooms) is in a poor state and in need of repairs. Air conditioner needs to be cleaned.
- Roger (2/5): - Salt Water coming out of the shower and sink. The patio door wouldn't close and the room door wouldn't open all the way so we were forced to change rooms only to find another patio door wouldn't close in the second room. Floor is always covered in salt a dirt because of the salt in the tap water. Restaurant charging double what places next door charge and poor food quality.
- Paul (8/5): - I stay at this resort often. Great location, on the beach, good food and excellent staff .
- Andrew (8/5): - Staff was extraordinary, pleasant, very nice people
- Pablo (2/5): - Not so good, rooms aren’t nice anymore.
- Robert (4/5): Lost cause - The only good thing about this hotel was the location. The room was awful. Toilet so close to the facing wall, you had to tuck your knees behind your ears to take a dump. I booked the 'modern' standard room, which I think meant it came with electricity! Broken wardrobe, no kettle or tea/coffee, poor bar service, no room servicing, the list goes on.
If you plan to spend your days swimming, diving, drinking and eating out, and you just need a place to crash, this may fit the bill. But it's way overpriced for what you get. I'd look elsewhere if I were you.
- Eldibrano (8/5): - The beach is just few feet away from the resort.
- Philip (10/5): - Excellent staff!!!
- wayne (8/5): - Nice area and friendly area. A lot safer than I was lead to believe. If you like diving and water it is a great place
- Patti (8/5): - Great location and for price great hotel. A little dated but priced right. But absolutely perfect location on the ocean by all restaurants and bars. Front desk staff not overly helpful. Dive shop not affiliated with hotel and I would not recommend dive shop. I would recommend hotel
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very low quality, dirty, salt water in showers. Wouldn't refill water. Bad wifi.
- Edwin Matias (10/5): - view of the beach ...
1 min access to town road
- GeorgeCardenas (8/5): - Great place for a great price. It was next door to Alona Divers where I spent my mornings for 4 days.
- RMDofSeattle (10/5): - Proximity to the beach. Near the airport with free parking.
- GANPAT raj (6/5): Very good property poorly managed - This is located right at Anola Beach where you get all the boats for sea trips .There are many restaurants along the beach . Great location.
However rooms are very poorly maintained.
Bathroom doors not closing , water in bathroom was smelling. There were leakage of water.Basic items like napkin, disposable slippers, tissue papers were not provided. My room AC was not working. They were quick to change my room with good AC but then fan was making lot of noise.A very good property but needs good housekeeping and maintenance.
- Rudolf-Paul (8/5): Good Place - Wonderfull Place direktly on the beach
- Verified traveler (4/5): Would not return - We chose this "resort" due to its proximity to our dive shop and stayed for 6 nights. Despite setting my expectations given the not-so-great reviews, I was disappointed by the cleanliness and atmosphere. Cleaning service was never consistent day-to-day, and it seemed they did nothing else but straighten the bed (not even replacing towels some days). On a daily basis, we would find either cockroaches or ants (or both) in the bedroom and the bathroom. The walls are also paper-thin, and each morning we would be woken up by other tourists yelling down the hall or in the pool. The service is just mediocre. I would not return.
- Lina (6/5): - Beds are comfortable, decor a bit outdated. The food is a miss & hit depending on what you order. Nightly live music was great. Always flag down the restaurant worker when you’re ready to order.. else you’ll just sit there forever in waiting.
The water is really bad. I don’t know if it’s treated or what but it has a salty residue and taste. Had to buy bottled water for use to brush our teeth.
- Guest (4/5): - There were bugs in the room. The water pressure was super low. The air con and TV kept making all kinds of sounds. We couldn’t wait to checkout.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Toilet, shower, and safe inoperable. Roaches everywhere. Terrible.
- JAYNE (2/5): - DO NOT STAY HERE! The room is very dirty, floors are dusty, comfort room not clean! they even gave us a water heater with cockroaches' eggs. Not worth the money! Better pay more with other hotel!
- Tony (4/5): Mr Antoni - First room I got was filthy , Toilet full of (S___T smelly) replacement was little better
- Raquel (8/5): Kindness of Bohol - What makes our stay in Bohol truly special is indeed Bohol itself...real nice sea experience and kind people!
- Geraldin (8/5): - We enjoy our stay . We love tge taste of their food. Staffs are friendly and attentive. But the beach front is not that appealing. But then we enjoy went out and do other activities.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - In general, the condition of the facility is very poor. I chose this place because of the dive school at the facility. The diving school is great, but the facility is very old and not so well-managed.
- GIRISH KUMAR (2/5): - All the food was overpriced and the bbq guy was arragont not helpful plus the beers was overpriced some of the staff was very freindly some of them r not so- ordered beer and they didnt let me know the happy hour has finish isntrd they charge me too high .the food price was over priced when next door u could get half the price
- Princess Diana (10/5): - It was amazing except for the Drinking Filipinos who dont even bother drinking, singing, shouting and laughing from 11pm to 1am outside our hotel room near the pool. The other neighbors were shouting at them already bec they were too noisy. Unbelievable!
- Joel (6/5): Good place to stay on a budget. Great diving loco - Decent place to stay on a budget. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, but cleanliness of rooms was sub-par. If you're a diver this is a good option since the Dive shop was quality and top-notch
- Marylim
Mary (2/5): - I was given the smallest room.luggage can not be opened on the floor. No view from my window. Non-operating showe. I should have paid less.it was not tourist season till March 17.
- clifford (4/5): Not so good... - Dirty room. Floor dusty. Bathroom with rusty shower fixtures. Bed comfortable but sheets stained. Smelly, musty room. Great location, but not good for a family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Got the modern view room which overlooks the pool and beach with a private balcony. Very nice. Go for this option. Everything was clean an modern and worked. Perfectly located just down the beach from the main street in town. Staff was friendly but service lagged a bit.
- Kevin (4/5): Better choices for the money nearby. - Water didn’t work half the time, when it did it was salty. Breakfast was insulting. Construction going on the entire time. First room offered smelled strongly of mold.
- Charles (10/5): - Happy with my stay. Very nice people. I was delayed a day because of a typhoon. They extended my stay a day (free). I did call the day before but they didn't have to help me. I had a non refundable reservation. Kudos to them.
- A (8/5): - Hotel is located right on Alona Beach. It has everything you need, e.g. restaurant, tour services, pool. Friendly staff, comfortable and clean room (with air-con and fan)
- Kelvin (2/5): - I wouldn't stay here even if it was free. The room was full of mosquitoes. Shower water was salty. I usually don't complain but this has to be the worst place I've stay.
- R (2/5): Don’t book Lost Horizon Beach Resort - The food was inedible, haven’t experienced anything that bad before. Construction was happening 6 days a week from 8am - 5pm, which made relaxing impossible. Plenty of better places to book. Disappointed is an understatement.
- Alvin (10/5): Wonderful stay! - My kids love the place, the beach, the ambience, the night band, wonderful staff.
- Robert (8/5): Good hotel right on beach - The location is excellent, right on the beach, but my room was nothing special at all, but I think some rooms are better. The water supply is not good, only for showering. The food is sub par and the food service is slow. Having said that, it is a decent place and you can't beat the location since it is at the center of the action on Alona Beach.
- Peter (8/5): Sand and bar - Old but ok hotel right in the mittle of the Alona beach
- Craig (8/5): Relaxing vacation - Nice people and one of the nicer places on the beach
- Alistair (8/5): Alona Beach mid range - Good location at Alina Beach. Right beside sea and beautiful soft sand. Hotel is comfortable but a bit concretey. Staff nice and friendly. Restaurant ok and loads of good alternatives in immediate area.
- BJ (2/5): The worst hotel experience in 30 years! - Toilet blocked for five days!!!! No solution provided by hotel except a room boy using a plunger several times daily. We used the bathroom in the restaurant.
Breakfast was almost inedible.
Smoking allowed in restaurant and public areas forced us to use facilities of other hotels.
Very run down room and bathroom.
The king size bed confirmed at booking was actually two single beds made up as singles and pushed together.
Transfer to ferry wharf booked 24 hours ahead of our departure!
Construction next door for over 12 hours daily.
Beach chair on balcony, paint comes off the chair and sticks to your skin.
Curtains dirty, all fixtures worn
No spare pillows
Only two towels provided.
And this was a DELUXE room!!
There were other problems as well, this list is not exhaustive.
I now know why this was the only room available at Alona Beach when we booked ... nobody would stay here if they had a choice. Also they take your money when you book and it’s non-refundable ... of course it is! Who would ever stay for a second night willingly?
- Ian (8/5): Lazy days at Lost Horizon... - This was the second time I've started at this Resort, and I'll continue to come back...there were a few little hiccups but generally they were attended too fairly promptly.....it's a great location, smiling staff, great food, super cold San Mig lights...in fact this latest trip I extended an addional day.....the weather wasn't the best, but none of us can control that.....the dive shop attached to the resort is one of the best I've encountered in South East Asia...well done guys and gals.....
- Shaynne (4/5): Lost Horizon = Lost Items - Booked 2 rooms for my family. The hotel and the location was nice that's why we chose this hotel. Funny this is, my niece, mom and mom in law all lost some of their jewelry INSIDE both rooms when we just went down for breakfast. Management should do something about this coz there surely is one kleptomaniac in the house. Will never recommend checking in here to anyone. So disappointing.
- BRUCE T (8/5): Great stay.. Thanks Lost Horizon - Great location.. Good American breakfast... Fast, friendly staff... Room was good... Could use a little updating, but was very adequate.... Thanks Lost Horizon... Although it rained the entire weekend, it was not the Hotel's fault, and the stay was good...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - staff we're very rude not helpful, room was basic a lot of noise can hear rooms next door
- Ulf (4/5): Not very good - Bad smell from drainage from toilet, bedsheet old and worn out, food not very good, pool small and looked dirty... overall a poor lowbudget place.
- Stuart (8/5): Bohol - Good location on the beach
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good position - Resort was a bit tired but very convenient with its position. I did not eat at the restaurant
