- Gabor (10/5): The best romantic getaway from Lisbon you could wish for - This is probably the best hotel I ever stayed in. First of all, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly, they really go out of their way to help you with everything you may need. The property is gorgeous, the pool is refreshing and clean, the rooms and beds are comfortable, even the bath soap smells amazing. They really pay attention to all the details. Stay here, you won't regret! I stayed with my girlfriend and she loved it. We are already planning to be back :) Everything was perfect.

- Myrtha (9/5): Eine Traumadresse für Geniesser - Nach einer Portugal-Rundreise haben wir die letzten zwei Tage vor unserem Rückflug hier verbracht. Das war eine sehr gute Entscheidung! Wir wurden herzlich willkommen geheissen und fühlten uns gleich wohl. Das Hotel ist ein Juwel und die paradiesische Umgebung inmitten von Rebbergen ist ein Traum. Das Abendessen im hoteleigenen Restaurant war eine Überraschung auf Gourmet-Niveau. Sollten wir wieder einmal in der Nähe sein, dann würden wir auf jeden Fall wieder hier logieren. Alle Mitarbeitenden inkl. Hotelleitung verdienen ein grosses Lob. BRAVO!!!👏 Unsere Rücken hätten sich eine bessere Bettenqualitär gewünscht. Die Matratze war ziemlich hart und die Bettdecke sehr schwer.

Aufgrund der Nebensaison war verständlicherweise nicht der ganze Umschwumg im Schwung. So wirkte z. B. der Spa etwas vom Winter eingenommen von aussen.

The room had a slight smell of sewage about it. I wonder if the sewage system was working properly. It was pretty minor, but still noticeable.

- Glenys (8/5): Beautiful boutique hotel in lovely setting - The hotel is in a beautiful old family home set in a vineyard. The views are stunning. However, despite being told upon check in that our room had been upgraded it was very small. It was difficult to open our luggage and get things out. One of the nicest things was that on departure one of the staff thought to give us a carton of water each for our journey. More space in the room. Accommodation was very tight and the bed was not huge. The fine dining restaurant - being the only option, was pricey. Also, we were both delighted to see Caldo Verde on the menu, but we were disappointed that it was not made in the traditional way and therefore was not Caldo Verde as we knew it.

- William Richard (10/5): A short but incredibly wonderful anniversary visit! - Hotel Casa Palmela is a very special place, the location is amazing and you feel if you’re a thousand miles from everywhere. The property is full of Portuguese history having been a family home in the past,transformed into this wonderful hotel. We will definitely visit and stay again as the staff were so accommodating and caring, it was a distinct pleasure having a short stay at Casa Palmela!! We loved everything about Casa Palmela!

Off season (February) so very quiet but weather was sunny so could admire the views from our room patio. No extract fan in bathroom so very steamy after showering.

The breakfast was lovely and a wonderful way to start the day. Great wine selection to be enjoyed on the patio. Had a nice hike on the property.

We arrived at Sunset and watched it from the lawn over the beautiful view with welcome drinks. It was magical. The dinner is hugely overpriced. I like to come to a hotel where I can have dinner and go to bed after a long day. I was a little miffed that we were offered couvert which I generally agree to just because I don’t feel comfortable not doing so. Then I got the menu and realized I was paying eight euros per person for a bread roll and a bit of spread. I felt cheated. The dinner was ok, but again very overpriced.

- Hans Peter (9/5): Tolle Lage in den Weinbergen mit Free Parking - Die Unterkunft ist ausserhalb in den Weinbergen, sehr schön gelegen. Die Zimmer sind eher klein aber okay. Die Betten sind sehr gut. Das Personal an der Reception ist sehr freundlich. Das Frühstück ist gut. Das Personal beim Frühstück hat die Arbeit nicht erfunden. Sie können 5x vorbeilaufen ohne zu fragen, was man möchte ……

- Eduardo (8/5): - We loved the location, just outside of Setúbal. It is in the country side, like a villa. Great surrounding vineyard, a lush forest and lots of green areas. Our room was spacious but not very comfortable, it has a slanted ceiling and gives the impression of a tight space, and had a very small window. Bed comfort is standard, and nice bathroom. We also were greeted by a small gift of delicious cookies and almonds. I think this kind of hotels should excel in variety of the breakfast buffet, but it didn't. There is a coffee machine which is great, but my wife wanted tea and there wasn't any.

- Claire (8/5): Beautiful place for couples, not families with children. - Beautiful surroundings and pretty buildings. The staff are wonderful, helpful and welcoming. The property is very well kept and clean. Facilities were a bit limited for families (they only have 2 bikes to rent out and it’s €65 a day!) Pools are not heated and under 12’s can’t horse ride. So we were limited in October for activities. Restaurant was very expensive.

- Hélène (8/5): - Le site, l’architecture, la deco, le domaine, la chambre très spacieuse et très joliment décorée, c’est une très belle quinta. Le personnel est très gentil. Un service qui globalement n’est pas à la hauteur des étoiles et des prix pratiqués : c’est désagréable de se faire prendre une empreinte de CB en plus du règlement de la chambre d’avance, de payer 10€ le room service (pour le principe, pas pour le montant). C’est gentil de nous offrir une bouteille de vin dans la chambre, malheureusement d’une qualité très médiocre, ce sont des détails mais qui abîment l’expérience client.
- Joost (10/5): Fantastische locatie - De locatie is geweldig, heerlijke wijn met uitzicht over de vallei. Overal rondom het hotel zijn leuke zitplekjes. De prijzen voor het eten in het restaurant van het hotel vonden wij wat aan de hoge kant. Het eten was wel erg lekker.

- Ken (9/5): Excellent - Tranquility and comfort, but it is the location that really makes it set in lovely grounds surrounded by natural woodlands with lots of walking trails . Breakfast is really good and a wide variety of choices for other meals. Very little to complain about

- caroline (4/5): Casa Palmela is lovely but trades on its name - a service review is overdue - Casa Palmela is a lovely hotel in a lovely rural setting. The staff are all friendly and nice but overall the stay fell short of expectations. There seemed to be a lack of organisation - we were told when booking that the hotel was full the night before for a wedding and not to arrive before 1.00. We arrived at 3.00 and still had to wait for two hours for access to our room. There was only one other car in the car park indicating no great rush of arrivals and so the cleaning staff plainly had not been told to prioritise our room. There was no restaurant manager and so table service was sporadic and no staff member was appointed to oversee our table. We had two dinners and each lasted over two hours with different waiters coming and going every 5-10 minutes. In our room the large towels were both worn-out with holes in them, and rubbish had been left by previous visitors in the wardrobe drawer. We had said that our stay was a special occasion but this was simply ignored until we mentioned it and then when we came to leave we found our last meal had been discounted - no-one had said anything to us. During our visit nobody asked us if we were enjoying our stay or needed anything - which one would expect in a 5-star hotel. There were lots of smartly uniformed staff buzzing around doing things - but looking after guests was not a priority.

The immense vineyard fields and the nature surrounding it takes this place to another level of relaxation and getaway The pool, the restaurant and its view and of course the wine yards
- Rui (9/5): Excelente experiência - Foi, provavelmente, a melhor experiência que tivemos até hoje. Alia charme e elegância com um conceito familiar, fazendo com que nos sintamos em casa. Um verdadeiro refúgio de paz, onde podemos desfrutar do que a natureza tem de melhor, com uma vista lindíssima para a serra. O restaurante acrescenta ainda mais excelência à estadia, com uma carta completa e, sobretudo , um Chef que nos proporciona verdadeiros manjares dos deuses. Todo o staff foi sempre amável e prestável, não podendo deixar de destacar a noite na companhia de João Sousa, nortenho de raiz mas cidadão do mundo, que nos deliciou com as suas experiências e simpatia. Recomendamos vivamente, tendo uma óptima relação preço qualidade.

- Margot (10/5): Classic elegance paired with consummate hospitality - This hotel is absolutely wonderful — the property itself is one-of-a-kind stunning and peaceful, with a gorgeous view over the park and a historic home that has been updated incredibly tastefully to entail luxury hotel amenities. But what really sets Casa Palmela apart is the service — it is detail-oriented and elegant but also warm and welcoming, making a stay here actually feel as if one is being welcomed into someone’s home.

- Daniella (4/5): Não recomendo ficar nesse hotel se você tem bebê - Se você tem um bebê, não vá para esse hotel. Na primeira noite, minha bebê não dormiu nada e se mexia muito, sendo que ela dorme muito bem desde que nasceu. Quando fomos ver o berço, ele estava apenas com um cobertor, em cima dos ferros, sem colchão! Quando avisei a recepcionista Rita, ela veio com uma toalha de banho pra colocar no berço e achei um absurdo. Ai ela falou que o hotel estava cheio de crianças e havia acabado os colchões da propriedade. Falei que na reserva já havia solicitado o berço e que se não havia, não deveriam ter aceitado a nossa reserva. Ela disse que não tinha o que fazer. Depois de muita discussão, veio um funcionário e trouxe um colchão. Os funcionários, são mal treinados, brigam entre si na frente dos hóspedes. Os poucos animais do local, são mal cuidados, inclusive o mau cuidado já se vê na entrada, que tem uma fonte que não funciona e que está suja e com lodo, mal cuidada. Janela não fecha, entrando luminosidade no quarto. Ar condicionado forte com vento em cima da cama, não sendo confortável. Na primeira noite, não tinha cobertor, passamos frio. Na segunda noite, deram um cobertor com mau cheiro. Único ponto bom: local muito bonito com alguns poucos funcionários simpáticos, como o exemplar garçom Sr João, café da manhã bom.

Lo mejor es el personal, por su amabilidad, especialmente Joao, que cambió una cena que no había empezado bien en algo para recordar. Le falta personal en el restaurante.
