- Lynda (7/5): Basic but clean. - Friendly land lady met us at the door as it was not clear where the entrance was. She directed us to another pub down the road for a meal. Good off-street parking. Enormous bed in an average sized room. Was on ground level, light, and not dingy. Entrance dark and messy, tiny shower room, pub didn't open till 6pm, if at all, no meals or breakfast available.

I arrived after walking all day to find it was on a day that the pub was closed, but Steph was kind enough to open up the kitchen and pour me a pint. Lovely spacious room, good value for the price and beautiful location. Was even given a lift into Hereford the next morning. Really lovely owners.

- Stephanie (6/5): Really just a bed as we were meeting up with friends. - We did not have breakfast. Room was big and pretty comfortable. Nothing really.
- Hannah (7/5): Good -
- John (3/5): Disappointing - I was of the impression that The Plough was a country pub with restaurant facilities. Apparently it is shut at the beginning of the week when we stayed. Major disappointment. Would not have booked if we had known.,
- Madeleine (9/5): Superb - Rural location. Pleasant landlord. No breakfast available at the begging of the week.
- Sparkes (8/5): Very good - The owner cooked us up tasty meals despite being on her own running the bar and kitchen. Nothing
- Kczirbesz (7/5): Good -
- Denis (8/5): Satisfactory but if I stayed again it would be Thursday to Monday - Location is very scenic, unfortunately because of the knock on effect of covid the pub wasn’t open until Thursday and we left on the Thursday so I can’t comment on food it was room only accommodation
- Jillian (9/5): Superb -
- Alec (5/5): Good value, friendly staff and nice small bar, but the twin room wasn't great. - We were a last minute booking so were glad of the accommodation, and the price we paid was good value. The staff we spoke to were friendly and welcoming. It's a small pub, a bit off the beaten track, and one that seemed popular with a couple of the locals. We enjoyed a drink in the bar area before bed. We stayed in a twin room which was ensuite. However, it was quite a squeeze in terms of space, everything was very compact. IT was okay for one night, but you'd struggle over several days with the space.
The walls were thin - we could hear the TV playing from the person next door.
Also we noticed a fair amount of dust around the room, and possibly a slight dampness. Perhaps it hadn't been stayed in for a while, and so whilst it was well made in terms of neatly folded bedding and cups etc, it felt as though the room hadn't been freshly prepared.
- Giles (9/5): Superb -
- Dave (10/5): Lovely landlady with a ralaxed comfortable traditional pub feeling. - Very friendly family run pub. Very accommodating and helpful. I would definitely stay there again if in the area. I couldn’t fault the property.

We will return soon
- Steven (8/5): Very good - Staff were excellent
Lovely wee pub
- Amanda (6/5): Pleasant - No frills but nice clean place pub was shut so that was a bit disappointing but comfortable bed All round to stay again
- Philip (1/5): Appalling. Never again! - The location was good and the shower was decent Total lack of cleanliness
Really rude manager when we pointed out the dirty room. We weren’t told we could always go somewhere else!!
We paid £170 for 2 nights bed only which was way too expensive for what we ended up with. Also the carpet in our bedroom wasn’t fitted and was a trip hazard as it was cut in front of the bathroom in the hallway section of the bedroom. There was ni wardrobe and you only had a coat rack on the wall. The entrance of the hotel section was messy and the carpet was dirty with a stained rug.
Really appalling experience .
- Stephen (9/5): A pleasurable way to break our journey ar this reasonably priced location. - It was historic and a good location for breaking our trip during our tour. The staff were extremely pleasant and willing to go the extra mile. Facilities were all we needed for a single night’s stay. We felt welcome in this homely Inn. Parking was plentiful and convenient. Nothing. All was as expected from the listing.
- Michelle (7/5): Good -
- Janette (5/5): Ok for what we needed. Wouldn’t stay again . - The size of the beds . They were comfortable. The green light that lit the bedroom up like day light. You had to ask for toiletries. Too expensive for what it was.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - The staff were friendly and helpful
The meal was good & value for money.
There was also no pressure to check out at the departure time Nothing
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good - Very good Every thing
- John (4/5): Disappointing - No food available no shower soaps on shampoo
- Hank (8/5): Very good - Lovely staff. Good value for money. Slightly dated rooms.
- Flatpack (5/5): Ok, but don’t book on a Monday - Bed was comfy Bed covers smelt foisty shower flooded the floor, only got told pub and no food available on a Monday after we booked and paid, didn’t see no staff at all
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant -
- Walden (9/5): Superb - Room and ensuite were very clean. Owner , staff and locals were so friendly , really enjoyed it. Food was excellent
- Shaun (10/5): Brilliant for an overnight stop. - Lovely little place to stay overnight. We were made to fell at home right away. The bar had a good beer and the food was great.
- Ellen (7/5): A comfortable room in a peaceful location with good parking and beautiful views - peaceful location with good parking. ground floor room with comfortable bed. cooked breakfast was freshly made and included a delicious egg from Steph's hens. bar food was limited but cooked to order and good quality. Steph and her staff were very friendly and helpful. A nice seating area to the front of the property so we were able to eat our meal outside in the sunshine. No check in information so when we arrived at 6pm the pub was shut - Steph greeted us and showed us to our room and advised the pub would open at 7pm and food served from 7.30pm. There were a couple of pets in the pub and guest area and we were advised to shut the window at night as the cat may climb into the room. Comfortable furniture in the bar area was limited so fortunately we had dry weather and we made use of the outside seating area. Breakfast was not included in the price and had to be booked the night before.
- Samantha (7/5): Friendly and clean - The people were very friendly and welcoming. It was a birthday treat and I was disappointed that there was no restaurant available, lookily there was a pizza van in the car park.
- Claire (10/5): A gem of a place with the most wonderful people. - Wonderful welcome N/A
- Joanne (8/5): Very good -
- Nelson (7/5): Good -
- Alison (9/5): We love the friendly staff who always try to accommodate any request to personalise the stay. - Always a good cooked breakfast available and staff happy to amend to meet needs along with toast + cereals.
They had a pizza truck visit one night that offered fresh hand made pizzas cooked on a wood burning stove - they were delicious Nothing
- Pat (1/5): Very disappointing - No breakfast included, but expected this would be available as an extra. It wasn't. Although it specified that the bar was closed Mon - Wed, it listed a restaurant separately. This was also closed. Towels - were thin and one had some kind of dirt stuck to it.
Sheet may have been clean, but was also marked.
Key to door didn't work from the outside.
- Justin (8/5): Very good -
- Rosemary (3/5): Poor -
- David (9/5): Nice cosy pub, comfortable rooms, good food and friendly staff - Lovely location, very friendly owner managed pub with great staff, good food and comfortable rooms.
Cycle touring and a great place to end the day. N/a
- Ionut (7/5): Good -
- David (8/5): Location was great for our visit, reasonable price, comfortable bed, quiet spot. - As it was out of season the pub itself was closed, so breakfast was unavailable, although we were offered drinks from the bar if required. We were visiting friends nearby so it wasn't an issue. The location is very peaceful with countryside views. Steph the host was very friendly. The only issue we had was that we couldn't get the TV to work but as we were only there for one night it wasn't a great problem.
- Dean (6/5): A nice hotel however bar and restaurant won’t open if not busy use google maps to find the place as booking.con postcode - Large spacious room very ideal with the dog aswell Very secluded it’s about 8 miles from Hereford not 6km
Not like booking.com says
- Anonymous (4/5): Disappointing - Friendly staff No lock on the bathroom door and a hole into the bathroom that you could see through. The rug in the bedroom looked like it needed cleaning & the Kettle was old and dirty inside. One of the bed blankets had marks on it and the bathroom was cold and in need of refurbishing. The shower went from cold to scalding in seconds and generally the room and bathroom weren’t very clean eg the air vent above the shower was thick with dust. The hallway and room look like they need painting and some maintenance.
- Joe (8/5): Rural peaceful friendly with a warm welcome. - Rural village setting. Classic old pub. Dog and child friendly. Peaceful location. Easy access to and from Hereford. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Menu choice is limited inevitably as it is a small low footfall country pub but more than adequate giving circumstances. Anyone with consideration will understand.
- Shelley (1/5): Disgusting accommodation - Nothing We arrived at 4pm left at 5pm . The pub was dirty with slug slime over carpet . A cat sat on a table in the bar . The pub did not match the profile that's advised on the website . We inquired about evening meal as the menu on website looked amazing but was told she hasn't got much it but could do us sausage egg and chips or gammon.. we went to our room where we discovered two rugs folded up at the patio door to stop the draft coming into the room . We left within a hour .never to return.
- Colin (8/5): Just what I needed somwere nice n quit -
- Oleksandr (10/5): Exceptional - Cozy and very clean
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Roberto (4/5): Disappointing - Nothing Everything
- Paul (10/5): excelent - excelent stay will book again nothing
- Paul (4/5): Location great … - The location was great , I found out on arrival that they didn’t do food on a Wednesday night so not that helpful for someone that’s been on the road all day , but I was pointed in the direction of another pub about a mile away down the hill , and so they accommodated a meal which was very nice . The room was okay and did have the addition of a chair so that made a change .. I stayed in Room 4 which was a room of 2 single beds .. one of the beds was broken beyond repair the base had collapsed so the mattress sat in a dip and the other bed the mattress was shot as well with the mattress dipping in the middle … this made for a very uncomfortable night , went away with a bad back … I did message the landlady who apologised , but this isn’t something that’s just happened those beds have been like that for some time . The fitted sheets didn’t fit the bed either…
- Loren (8/5): 25 minutes from Oldfield Forge, great location! - The location

- Cath (3/5): Mr M Evans. I hate writing unpleasant comments but can only write what is experienced. - We never had breakfast. See the comment below. We used The Plough as a base for fishing the Wye and this meant missing breakfast due to early starts. We asked if we could have packed lunches instead of the breakfast to which Steph agreed. When it came to pay the bill for the stay we were also charged for the lunches. That irked both of us. We were overcharged after the first nights meal and drinks. The lunches consisted of four cheese and pickle sandwiches and a piece of cake on the first day and just four more sandwiches of cheese and pickle the second day. Not really packed lunches in our opinion. Steph almost charged us again for the first nights evening meal and drinks due in part to a till not being used but bits of paper to write down the figures. Overall not too pleasant an experience
