Guest Reviews
- Jill (4/5): - Nothing like a cold shower in a strange smelling room after a long drive. Thw water never warmed up after a long time running. The manager came to the property to ensure room was set up and responded to texts. Thanks.
- Cynthia (10/5): - This is a really nice place to stay. Rooms were clean and the area is very safe. We with definitely go back
- Richard (4/5): - No staff on site water was very dirty
- bill (10/5): Great Motel - Great little motel. Rooms are spacious, well organized with plugs in the right places for medical equipment and electronics. Ended up staying an extra night. Would definitely stay here again.
- bill (10/5): Happy at Heritage - Room was very spacious and comfortable. Usually I have to move furniture to get at electrical outlets, but Heritage had them in the right places, by the table for computer, by the bed for CPAP, etc. Ended up having to stay an extra night. Recommend.
- Nelson (10/5): - Loved the rustic appearance, but wished it had a coffee maker. Great time
- Adam (10/5): - Good deal
- Christopher (4/5): Don’t stay here! - Room itself is fine. Beds aren’t comfortable. Owner or whoever she is, is extremely rude. We showed up a half hour early to grab our room key and leave for the evening. She confronted me about being there. There’s no check in process, they just call and tell you the room is unlocked with the key inside. Complained because I turned the ac on in the room. Apparently they have a requirement that ac is to stay at 70. She then went into our room and turned it off, then the following day went back in (while we weren’t there) and turned it back to 70. IT WASN’T EVEN ON WHILE WE WERE GONE!!!! Lady is very unprofessional! I can only imagine what else they do in rooms while people are not present!!!
- Stephen (4/5): - I wouldn’t recommend this motel unless price is your only consideration.
- Richard (10/5): - Strange check-in. The owner called us early to tell us she left the keys in the room.
- Mike (2/5): - There’s no WiFi, no staff was present. I had to leave earlier than I anticipated in order to be able to work. There was no employee on site to communicate this to, I did shorten my stay. I understand maybe I took the booking availability up for another lucky soul. The property representative on the phone told me they were at max capacity. The guests must have all walked there. Including mine, There was a Max of 3 cars in the parking lot both days I was there. I ended up paying over 1100 for 2 nights and had to call over 6 times (they finally answered Sunday morning) ignored 3-4 voicemails. After complaining they reluctantly gave me a $250 refund. I still paid over 900 for 2 nights stayed. I complained on the phone that there is no WiFi. She said there is WiFi you just need the right “code”. There was a “code” hand written and stuck to the empty mini fridge, and it was an “incorrect password”. Possibly if someone was there to speak to, or answered the phone I could have gotten the correct code. Again, when Monday came I decided this was enough and checked out early. There was nobody at the desk to communicate this to and discuss these matters. I encourage Expedia to remove this property from its website. The lady on the phone hung up on me when I was asking for some sort of refund the following week. I urge you not to stay here. If your son is playing at dreams park, it’s about 20 minutes away. There are better options of places to stay, that are much closer.
- Edward (8/5): - The Heritage Inn is a no-frills mom-and-pop motel located in a hamlet about a 20-minute drive from Cooperstown. The hamlet itself is economically depressed, with several buildings visibly deteriorating and blighted. Other than the motel, hamlet’s only business appears to be a small convenience store and gas station. There are no dining establishments of any kind. The owner and proprietor is very friendly and eager to please. She was dealing with a well-water problem when we arrived. A couple other guests cancelled their stays when they heard about the water issue. However, we chose to stay and the problem was resolved a couple hours later. The area was very quiet, rural and relaxing. The owner provided coffee and doughnuts in the office every morning. Our room was rustic but clean, with comfortable beds and a relatively modern and functional bathroom. The drive to and from Cooperstown over country roads was pleasant. If you are not a sophisticate or an elitist and just want a simple pleasant place to stay that is not too far from Cooperstown, the Heritage Inn is a decent choice. We will definitely consider staying here when we return to Cooperstown next summer.
- Toni (8/5): Heritage Inn Stay - We had a very pleasant stay. It was a quiet country atmosphere.
- Zac (8/5): - Overall extremely nice host, and clean accommodations. Was lacking consistency with hot vs cold water in my experience of 6 days (very hit or miss). Not having internet the whole time I was there would have been nice to know beforehand. Based on what I was told, Spectrum was coming out to fix it. Other than that, very suitable for a short (1-2) day stay; some may consider themselves roughing it if they stay longer.
- mark (8/5): - Very nice and clean. Quiet not too far out of the way. Close to gas and convenience store with deli. Remember you are in rural upstate NY. But not far from town. For tge price its A+. Simple for a single person or two. Might be difficult for a family or a spouse that cannot handke simplicity
- Niklos (10/5): - Such a fun place to stay. Great rooms and perfect area to stay in.
- Clyde (6/5): Ok, but not again - Motel is aged but in a nice location. We had insects in our room, wi-fi would not connect to internet and this morning there was no hot water in the showere or sink.
- Jason (10/5): - ease of checking in and checking out. Nice quiet place to rest after enjoying the area. Price is great as well
- Charles (10/5): Heritage Inn makes the grade. - Initially i had a small problem, but the manager resolved it quickly. Clean, comfortable, quiet.
- David (6/5): - Booked a room here for a weekend in Cooperstown. Was looking for a no frills spot for a place to sleep for 2 nights, but this was a little too "no frills"
Check in was a phone call telling me what room I was assigned to and they left the door open with the key inside. There was no staff on site and the store in front was not open (this was at 4:30pm on a Friday afternoon). I tried calling the phone number listed on the website, but no luck. The internet was not working and in reading other reviews, it seems like this may have been the case for awhile.
The room itself was clean and comfortable and what I was expecting from the photos. But I would probably not stay here again unless there was some indication they were attending to their guests with more than just a phone call
- david (8/5): - Bathroom in need of repair. Tub seemed unstable and adjacent floor was likely rotted. That being said it was ok; price was in line with condition.
- Glen (6/5): - The room itself was nice and clean. Amenities were not as promised. TV didn’t work and there was no internet. There was a coffee pot but no coffee or hot cups. We were the only guests and there was no one available if help was needed. Fortunately, we were passing through and staying for only one night.
- Chantal (10/5): Peaceful - Note: We stayed during Cooperstown's off, off season.
Review: We were there for a conference at The Otsaga Hotel. We wanted something a little more cost effective. This lovely little hotel is rustic, but clean. We had hot water, heat, and THE ENTIRE PLACE to ourselves. Talk about peaceful! The proprietor was helpful, answered her phone, and this place is only a 14 minute drive to Cooperstown.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Budget-friendly but quaint - I'm glad that the listing no longer includes breakfast in the amenities list, because there is none. Owner did make some good restaurant recommendations when asked. A surprising lacking amenity was shampoo/conditioner, so take your own -- this is a budget hotel, quaint (decked out for the season) and sufficient. I think some posted store/office hours that are kept by owner or friend when she's busy would be a plus -- The photo shows the cute gift shop, one of the reasons I chose this location, but it was closed the whole time. Also some information about the near-by Richfield shopping and restaurant options would have been helpful, and the location of the microwave since our room only had a refrigerator (for which I was thankful). Better/easier locks on the door would also be a plus.
- Yoona (10/5): - Based on price this was a really great place to stay. I was looking for my husband and his friends for a boys weekend and it was perfect for their needs. We were able to afford 2 rooms and everyone got their own bed. It was a little further out from town but based on the price it was worth it. When they showed up there was no one there to greet them. When they called the number the person was very annoyed with them for calling and said they had left a voicemail for the person who the reservation was under, my husband, but he turns his phone on airplane mode when we're in the US. For future reference, it would be better to email people with instructions since many people buy esims when travelling to get data but keep their cell phones off.
- Laura (8/5): Cooperstown trip - Nice place to stay. Not sure if there is or isn’t tv service did not hear back. We couldn’t lock the deadbolt. Theres a bit of a mildew smell in the bathroom but the place was very clean.
- Bruce (8/5): - Check in was easy. Room is space is and love the pine wood decore. Need to have a railing for the steps
- Jason (8/5): - Stayed at the Heritage Inn for baseball Hall of Fame induction weekend. I would stay here again if in the area. Reasonably priced. Distance to HOF was also reasonable. Pretty drive. Quiet area. Cooperstown is approx 15 minutes south by car. In our opinion, motel property had country-charm. Easy access from the road. Simple furnishings but nice. Kinda a throwback to childhood--including missing some of the amenities one might expect today, make sure to bring-your-own shampoo and body wash, only soap was provided--but we liked the quaint coziness of the place. Yes there was an occasional fly and spider, it is the countryside. No problem, bring a shoe--does the trick. Owner seemed pleasant. Main highlight: The room was large and the beds were very comfortable. Main downside: Wifi is not good. We had to leave our room and sit in our car closer to the main building to stream anything...including MLB.TV. Son was highly dissatisfied with this one aspect and feels the property could do better by utilizing a few more routers and increasing internet speed.
Bottom-line: decent room for a decent price, needs better internet/wifi
- Eliott (8/5): - 👌
- Sawdatou (8/5): - Nothing fancy, but everything you need. My room was well sized, clean and had a microwave and mini-fridge. It was like my own mini cabin. Very cute and very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hostess was friendly and helpful with recommendations for dining options. Room was clean and suited to our needs. Thanks!
- Tim (8/5): - Quiet country location, great value compared to others close to Cooperstown
- Brian (8/5): - A very nice quiet area for tourists to stay. But after getting our confirmation for our stay we NEVER SAW A STAFF PERSON IN 5 DAYS! The office was open but never saw anyone. Tables for breakfast or snacks but lights were turned off and no life whatsoever. The bed was comfortable and the table and chairs were good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Heritage Inn Review - Convenient location to Cooperstown for HOF Induction weekend. Received phone call to be told assigned room number, but otherwise had no interaction with motel staff. Room condition was average, but no significant issues.
- kenny (10/5): - Very clean, quiet, and cozy. One of the cheaper places around during cooperstown dreams tourney so i was skeptical, but in the end i feel like i got a great deal. No coffee maker or freezer, just a fridge and microwave. Takes about 18 minutes to get to CDP, plenty of places to get coffee on the way. I would stay here again with my family.
- Scott (10/5): - Going to Cooperstown can be pricey. This was a choice based on price. Rustic is the word, BUT I would stay here again. Bed was super comfortable. I felt like I was home in my own bed. AC worked great. Showers did their job. That’s all I needed. If you want luxury, go somewhere else and pay a lot more. If you want a pleasant place to crash when your kid is playing playing in the local tournament, then this is for you. Staff is wonderful.
- john (4/5): - they said breakfast in Inn .. i asked clerk on front desk and told me that they are no longer to provide breakfast. i shall pick other hotel with breakfast. the place was blend boring. neat and cozy. no service at all.
- Marcus (10/5): - Excellent owner and cleanliness was amazing. Got anything we needed by asking. Would definitely recommend and would stay again anytime im in that area.
- Ira (4/5): Dont stay - The AC/Heat didn't work. The wifi was non-existent it showed up once and the password provided didn't work. Without Wifi there was no signal so could get a lot of online stuff about the area. There was now hot water. I would not stay here ever again.
- SUSAN (2/5): - Sign in the bathroom:
H is for Cold
C is for Hot
and the faucet in the shower was so loose it came off.
Cobwebs & spider in the bathroom.
No one on site for check in or check out.
- Jared (4/5): Sheets weren't clean! - I wasn't too happy with my recent stay here. First, the door was ajar when I arrived. I don't know how long the door was in this condition, but it allowed insects into the room that we had to deal with. Then, there were some VERY soft spots in the floor that made you wonder if you were going to fall through. Probably worst of all is that the bed linens weren't clean. When we pulled back the cover and sheet, it looked like there was salt or sand on the fitted sheet on one bed and something like small pieces of grass on the other. Needless to say, everyone slept on top of the top sheet with their clothes on. Definitely not an ideal stay.
- Angela (10/5): - Super easy checkin, owner is so kind. Great stop for the night after a trip to Cooperstown
- Maria (8/5): - The place is quaint and comfortable. It could use some updating but otherwise it lovely.
- Shelby (10/5): - This inn is very clean with a rustic cabin aesthetic. I was only here for one night for work so I didn’t experience much. But it was nice and cozy.
- MELISSA (8/5): - Quiet. Clean. A little stuff/slight odor from being closed up and not heated.
- Aaron (10/5): - Staff was super friendly and helpful. Everything seen on Expedia was exactly what you get. Kind of in the middle of nowhere but it was ok with us. A good choice of a place to stay for a night
- CRAIG (8/5): - The room was large and comfortable and accommodated my 3 day stay. The towels were very good. They were large and absorbent and better than the average hotel towels
- Suresh (2/5): - I don’t recommend to stay here
- Kellie (10/5): - ..
- Vaunice (8/5): - Beds were comfortable. Shower didn’t work properly and the water coming out was dirty.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Heritage Inn is a bit out of the way, but a great location if you are visitting the area. The nature surrounding it is really beautiful.
- Sandra (4/5): - Bed mattresses were saggy. Bathroom not as clean as im used to. Appeared to have splattets of toothpaste on wall. Water coming from hot water faucet was only luke warm at best.
- JAMES E (10/5): - It was a very unique and nostalgic motel - the gro
- Caroline (4/5): - It would have been lovely except that mattress worse than a jail mattress. Also, the site uses a well and the water is cloudy and the hot warer is a little erratic. Lovely property and quaint room. Too bad the bad out weighed the good.
- Nora (8/5): - It was a quaint little place the room was large the bed was not comfortable the TV was Tiny no one greeted me they left the key on the table and they advertised breakfast but there was no breakfast and there was no check out I just left the key on the table they had left my receipt there. very basic room no amenities.n9 human contact One old gas station on the corner. Nothing else
- Karen S (10/5): - Check in and check out was a breeze. The room was nice and comfy. The staff was friendly and very helpful and did their best to accommodate my requests. I would recommend staying here. It’s a nice country atmosphere.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place just Outside of Cooperstown. - Great place just outside the chaos of Cooperstown. Inexpensive. Comfortable beds. Large room. Beautiful view from back room. BBQs fire pit and chairs in bac were a nice addition. Went to Jerrys for a quick burger and ice cream
- peter (10/5): - We were worried that with our late arrival we would have trouble checking in but our room was listed and found the key and other info waiting for us. Room was what we expected and just what we were looking for for a quick stay while going to the Baseball Hall of Fame and colleges between here and Syracuse.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a lovely place. Very comfortable and cozy room, quiet and conveniently located.
- Travis (8/5): - Room was as described. Comfortable beds. Could have had more pillows. We had no problems during our stay.
- Jeff (10/5): - Had a great relaxing stay here. This little inn is charming, well maintained, and in a nice country setting. My room was spacious, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Pillows were a little flat, but that's the only thing I'd change. Really liked my room and the peaceful setting, not far from Cooperstown.
- Charles P. Currie (8/5): - Very secluded, quiet and relaxing. But no meal options anywhere near the hotel.
- Melissa (10/5): Great deal, super clean - Recently renovated, clean, responsive staff.
- Ruth (10/5): - Only Complaint was.. needs a bigger TV.
- Stephen (8/5): - Fairly basic but clean and comfortable.
- Andrew (10/5): Rustic, in a good wY - Quaint clean room and accommodating owner/manager.
- Michael (10/5): - Very country setting. Beautiful back yard loaded with fireflys in the evening
- T.J. (10/5): - Great place to stay!
- Jay (10/5): - Great place to stay!
- Patrick (10/5): - Overall experience
- Rodrigo (8/5): - Easy check in.
- Brandon (10/5): - Amazing rooms and a very sweet owner
- Edward (4/5): - Wi-Fi did not work at all. Walls are paper thin. The mattress was terrible.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Owner is very nice, the place was clean. Television which is far from the bed is much too small. I’m guessing 20”. There was no coffee on property and no coffee pots in room. Couldn’t begin to imagine how far it was to go buy coffee in the morning. The room was also big enough to fit a sitting chair or two which it did not have. It did have a small table with 2 chairs. Not something you would want to sit on for more than a meal. Place is good for a night, that’s it.
- Ralph (4/5): NY - There was no coffee provided in the room and when I left to go get coffee someone came into my room and it wasn’t for cleaning as my room wasn’t cleaned my whole stay. I unfortunately was given an electric car as my rental and I used the electricity in my room to try and charge it as it is a rural area and no plug ins near by. The hotel manager told me that I would have to pay a $50 charge for charging my car. Totally unacceptable.
- Joe (10/5): - Quiet
- dennis (2/5): - Advertised having free breakfast. There was none. The smell of mildew was so strong that I was considering sleeping in my car.The wifi password didn't work. There was no one on duty to address these issues.
- Patrick (10/5): - Very quaint , very clean very good service. Will definitely stay again.
- Amy (4/5): - Our room key was left for us with someone else’s receipt. The shower hot and cold were reversed so there was no hot water pressure. I couldn’t rinse the shampoo out of my hair with hot water. The room was covered in cobwebs. The beds squeezed all night from just turning over. The reservation said breakfast included. There was no breakfast or place to have eat it.
For $100 a night it’s not worth your money. there is no office or any staff on the premises. I never got a call back when I called to ask for my correct receipt.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - We enjoyed our short time there
- Verified traveler (6/5): Spacious room with rustic charm. - Spacious and clean room for my grandson and me, with eating/work area. Simple/efficient checkin/out. Rustic charm. There was no breakfast as indicated on Hotels.com. Proprietor apologized, indicating they have been trying to correct the listing. Main complaint is shower head … needed replacement. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Very much as advertised. Didn’t like extra charge for credit card! Who uses checks/cash anymore!
- John (6/5): - very old and in need of renovation
no breakfast, expedia error according to hotel
- Beth (8/5): - Very scenic location. So peaceful. Room was fine - some problem with the wifi but connected nearer to the breakfast room. No coffee available our 1st morning but we were heading out anyways. No shampoo in bathroom. Pedestal sink leaked but towel soaked up the water.
- Al (10/5): - Owner was there and very friendly
- Dena (6/5): - Property manager very nice. Extremely poor water pressure for showers. No amenities at all.
- John (10/5): - Very spacious. Great location for my purposes. Great price. Beautiful area and very peaceful.
- Elaine (10/5): - I like the way the rooms are I believe they are so cute. It is that country living.
- Elissa (6/5): - Was only there for about 12 hours. Was as expected. Quiet and we'll kept property. Rooms are a little run down, but good value for a night.
- stephen (8/5): - Very nice little cabins - clean, safe, and quiet. Convenient to Cooperstown and nearby dining/attractions. The website promised wi-fi, but the wi-fi service was almost non-existant - it appeared randomly and infrequently, was mostly unavailable.
- Michael (2/5): Spiderwebbed room - Room was disgusting. Spiderwebs in corners. Water was hard and for two of the days ice cold.
- Uri (2/5): Unusable water, bad wireless. - The good: It looked nice, the setting was great, it was clean.
The bad: the water smelled like sulfur. Could not drink it, give the kids a bath (or shower ourselves). We had to buy bottled water from the gas station for drinking and brushing our teeth. we didn't even try to find the free breakfast for fear it was prepared with the tap water.
The wireless signal was very weak and didn't work at all for extended periods. My cell phone was not able to connect to the wireless at all. As a result I was not able to get much of the work done that I needed to do.
The place was really deserted. Only saw one other occupant. If there's a front desk, I didn't see it. I didn't see the breakfast, either, though as I mentioned, I didn't go looking for it.
- Toni (10/5): - We liked the ease of checking in and the Mom and Pop type experience.
I was just what we needed for our weekend getaway.
- Brian (4/5): - For the price it should have had a phone in room, hot water, clock in room, and some sort of breakfast service.
- Michael (4/5): - This review is to confirm so others reviews and some other events that took place over a 2 night stay.
Our Stay:
Positives:
It was clean.
Negatives:
Dead Bolt Key didn't work
WiFi had no Service as indicated in other reviews
Wall are paper thin as indicated in other reviews
Sulfur smell is accurate as in other reviews
Manager / Owner has no way to manage expectations.
Manager/Owner:
Call to leave message the room # is unlocked and key is there. No mention about the property grounds or anything we should be aware of. After a full day of walking around and a little unsure of having our belongs in a room that you can't deadbolt. We return to a parking lot jammed full of people, pickup trucks with beer and Karaoke. We did know what the hell we were walking into. Did the locals just decide to take over, we the front building independently operated from the Inn and share the lot. It was disturbing. We went to freshen up and go out to dinner since unwinding in the room wasn't going to happen. And I wasn't going to confront a large group of beer swilling strangers. We get back at 9:30pm ... and they are still there. So I text asking what the hell is going on, no. The next morning comes and the manager approaches us as we are packing. Apologizing stating to the affect it was family and there was a funeral involved. Well, I can go a lot of ways from this point. Family doesn't respect her, aware of whats going on and doesn't give the patrons a heads up, etc etc.
- Kimberly (10/5): - The owner met us personally on arrival and she was very pleasant! Room was clean and neat! No issues or problems what so ever and the A/C worked wonderfully!!
- Rosemarie (8/5): - Had a wonderful 2 night stay. Had the opportunity to talk with the owner. What a wonderful person!! It was like we knew each other for a long time. Very personable. Will be staying again when in the Cooperstown area. The motel is out of the way of the hustle and bustle which I like. Less than a 15 minute drive into town.
- Melanie (6/5): - The back yard of the inn is wonderful and so peaceful. Fire pit, chairs, a couple of grills, volleyball net. However with no coffee pot in the room I hoped to buy coffee in the cafe, but it wasn't open.
- Angelo (10/5): - It was very clean and fire pits were great outside
- Felipe (4/5): - The water smelled horrible.
- james (8/5): - Quiet community convenient to all
