Guest Reviews
- Davis (3/5): - Whatever they clean with burns my eyes and leaves terrible taste in my mouth, it’s that thick in the air.
- Don (10/5): - Clean and quiet, excellent staff too!!!
- Keiko (9/5): -
- Carroll (8/5): Great value for your money but the bathroom needed a little work. - Room looked recently updated. Great new floors. Clean. Great price. Bathroom wasn’t updated. Not enough water pressure. Towels were hard. Shower mat stained.
- Deivid (10/5): -
- Sara (5/5): - None was offered!
- Tyrone (8/5): -
- Chris (4/5): - Price and staff were nice Door had no seal so cold air came in. Hair on the pillows. Heard EVERTHING going on outside and in adjoining rooms. Because there was no seal and air was coming in even while I was laying in the bed furthest from the door I could still smell pot.
- thomas (8/5): -
- Kevin (3/5): - The price was good Black mold in the bath tub, drains for both the sink and bath tub were clogged, very slow draining
- Tiffany (8/5): - Clean room! Good location! The bed wasn't that comfortable and the pillows went flat. There was no hand towel to dry hands on, just bath towels.
- Jessica (8/5): -
- Joanna (9/5): Great little hotel - Conveniently located to Uwharrie National Forest
- Aemisegger (6/5): It was good -
- Jason (10/5): Great stay - Nice location very clean room and nice staff but hard to understand due to the language barrier but great stay overall Can't say there was anything bad for a smaller place in a very small town
- Donald (9/5): Always stay there -
- Jason (6/5): -
- Stacey (9/5): - Owners were very nice..Everything was great! No coffee... but we survived without it!
- Inocente (8/5): - Clean Room
- Rickie (10/5): - the outside is run down but inside is fairly nice and clean.
- Michelle (10/5): - Very clean and very well lit at night. There is honestly nothing that we didn't like.
- Raymond (2/5): - Bed Bugs and bites made me check out...
I had been there several days and complained about an overwhelming deodorizer smell each day which they denied .. but leaving my "do not disturb sign: on they had no reason to enter, but everyday I returned the smell was worse.
After several nights I changed rooms where the bed bugs bit me. I checked out that day.
I think the smell was an insecticide to kill the infestation..what a mistake on my part and hope I was not harmed...the smell was awful and I should have left the first night.
- Mike (10/5): - Nice place. Wish they had a chain lock on the door but it turned out to be quiet and clean. Air conditioning was not on when I arrived so it took a bit of time to cool down but was fine.
- Maddox (10/5): It was better than expected - Didn't get a breakfast
- susie (10/5): - Very nice
- Sarah (10/5): Super friendly and great location - Extremely friendly and welcoming! Perfect place to stay if you're adventuring in Uwharrie!
- May (8/5): - overall is ok, except the shower curtain is stink, either wash it regularly or replace it with a new one.
- Kathleen L (8/5): Pleasant stay - Staff was very kind & helpful Suggestion, additional towels + shampoo in.room for those staying a longer stay
- Quayshaun (10/5): -
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional - Great Stop
- CHRISTOPGER (10/5): - It was clean and quiet I like it .
- Coulthard (8/5): Goes to show, you can't judge a book by its cover - I honestly did not have high expectations for this property because of its age and dated appearance. As the only motel in the Troy area, I took a chance. Happily, my two 2-night stay turned out beautifully. The room was clean and comfortable. The WiFi worked great, too! Most of all, I was impressed by the staff, who cheerfully accommodated my two requests. Also, the location was perfect for my visit to the Uwharrie National Forest. I would happily stay here again. I had no issues at all.
- Rooster (8/5): Very good -
- Brandon (8/5): - Great stay. 4/5 the only reason its not a 5 is because the tv didn't work properly it stayed having s blue tint snd the wifi wasn't the best either. Otherwise great stay.
- Barbara (6/5): short stay - small and cheap off beaten path very dim
- Breanna (4/5): Disappointing -
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gomez (10/5): Very pleasant experience. - Very clean rooms. Friendly staff. The guy in the room next to us was loud. He stood outside and talked on his phone all hours of the night.
- Marcia (8/5): Good value - Very clean, friendly staff Wish there was a coffee maker in room
- Reanata (8/5): Very good -
- George (8/5): - Though the property is dated and could use some upgrades, the owners keep it very clean and do room freshen ups daily. The beds were comfortable and the linens were in good shape. Everything in the room worked (TV, clock, etc.) and there was a mini fridge and microwave. One thing missing though is a coffee maker in the room. We brought our own but that's an essential. I don't know if there was coffee in the lobby or not. I did not see any at check in. Overall, I'd stay there again, and bring my own coffee maker.
- Lee (2/5): - The property was beyond dated. I decided to stay somewhere else.
- Robert (6/5): - Good value for money; clean and mostly comfortable but beds are hard as rocks
- Jonathan (10/5): - Non
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional - They accommodated a very late checking poor guy was asleep... so grateful he woke up. Vending
- Mark (3/5): You get what you pay for. but when the reviews are telling you one thing then you see what you get and it’s a let down. - It was cheaper than the only other model near buy. Bed was hard and had something poking through the top. Pillows were only about an inch thick. Door only had one lock.
- Mike (9/5): Wonderful - Loved it
- Norma (7/5): Good -
- Sandy (10/5): - Price, room was a nice size
- Kevin (10/5): - Clean rooms, safe and quiet. The staff was very hospitable.
- Stuart (4/5): Disappointing - Nice chap on reception. Needs a deep clean. Stained sheets and dirty floors. Drain smells in room.
- William (8/5): I would stay here again - From the outside, the place didn't look like much. Inside it was a large room with a comfortable bed, TV/Microwave/Fridge and a couch. The couch was older, comfortable but harder to get up from.
No coffer maker and no additional locks on the door.
- William (8/5): Surprisingly cleaner than expected for the price. - It was surprisingly fresh. Most hotels/motels at that price point smell old and musty, this room smelled fresh and clean. It looks like a very shady area. We were concerned about our vehicle and anything in it, but we had no issues.
- Patrice (10/5): - Quiet and very clean
- Emily (4/5): - The walls are paper thin. No security chain, bathroom needed recaulking around toilet and shower walls. Sink was not clean. Bathroom light/fan both noisy and dim. Curtains not completely light proof and no privacy when open.
Pillows needed replacing. Sleep was difficult from tv noise in adjacent room.
- Sam (7/5): A surprisingly nice stay in rural North Carolina. - The room was pleasantly perfumed. The door had been painted in a very thick coat of paint which made it difficult to open and use the locks.
- Sarah (5/5): Passable -
- Caroline (4/5): Just for one night. - Location and the price.
Also the staff is good The air conditioning was noisy. The room need to be refresh, smell dust.
- Charmonie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great!!! Nothing.
- Anthony (10/5): - It was super quiet & relaxing. Just what we needed.
- Melissa (10/5): - Clean room
- BRENDA (8/5): - Very Clean rooms
- Rj (10/5): Exceptional - Good location and very clean room and bathroom. The motel stall was very helpful. no coffee maker in room
- Ron (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (4/5): - Bath tub had mildew the wall area in the bath was drty shower curtain was dirty the bed linen was clean no bed bugs thank goodness i was driving all day and wanted somewhere to lay my head for the night.
- Brandon (9/5): Stayed before; would stay again. Nice place. - Location near event attended.
Good value.
Cable TV.
Good size room with small fridge and microwave.
Fresh update since last year’s stay. No ‘do not disturb’ card to use.
- Joan (7/5): Good -
- Chad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iado (8/5): okay location and clean room nice staff - location was good and room was clean. Breakfast not offered and on my way in i got a call from the property as if my room was about to be given away or canceled if i didn’t show and i was driving over 2hr.
- Madonna (8/5): - Everything was good
- Chad (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome staff great price good location and well ran
- Chad (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff very easy to deal with
- Chad (9/5): Superb - They called to make sure of reservations. Also very friendly staff. Quit and plenty of parking
- Larry (9/5): Central location for hiking other outdoor recreation - The motel is located far back from roadway and buffers highway traffic. Lots of free parking and felt safe. Grocery and drug store within walking distance. Owner and staff were very friendly. Definitely stay here again. Need to drive for food other than snacks. Water pressure was a little low but nice hot water. Drafty door for room especially at bottom. No coffee maker in room.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Janine (8/5): Great value - Great value and location to Uwharrie. Room was clean. It was a little old but they tried to make it as clean as possible.
- David (4/5): Never again - Old motel type. Not a true Roadway Inn Beds were ready to break.
- Robert (5/5): Passable -
- Auvray (10/5): - Small family owned motel. Our room was very clean. You can tell they are working on getting things updated. Fridge and microwave in the room. No coffee pot (which was fine for us). I would recommend bringing your own toiletries.
- Haley (8/5): - Front desk was accommodating and helpful
- Jamie (10/5): - We loved the easy check in.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Well run, friendly staff. Good value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to Uwharrie NationalPark
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place is a rest stop for prostitues and drug addicts. Do not recommend. Very shady
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was fine except the toilet was loose..il stay again next trip
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good.. 2nd time coming. Would come again. Off the road, near foodlion and other restaurants
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice owners. Always very friendly. Close to Uwharrie.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The shower was filthy..one partial roll of toilet paper and not even put in the proper holder..no soap or shampoo..water on bathroom floor from leaking toilet and bad smell..good thing I brought my own air freshener
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Smelled like grandma’s cigarettes from the moment that I walked in.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was not bad for an inexpensive motel and the property felt safe. Unfortunately the rooms needed some updates, especially the bathrooms. The beds are full size not queen like advertised, the blankets where clean but looked like they have many years of use on them and about half the lights where working.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was set up like an apartment
It was very clean
The staff was very friendly
- Verified traveler (4/5): - First room had a strong sewer smell coming from the bathroom. Asked for a different room and told the clerk it smelled like a sewer. All he said was "I know". If he knew why did he rent the room?
Second room was a little better, no sewer smell but didn't smell clean. The mattress was lumpy and was past its useful life by years. Pillows were flat and had no support. Towels were extra thin and were past their useful life and along with the mattress and pillows should have been replaced long ago. I could comment on the general condition of the room but that would take a book, not well maintained and looking extremely worn.
Certainly not worth what I paid, I've seen better motels at half the price. Will avoid like the plague if I ever go to Troy, NC again preferring to stay in my car instead.
BTW The other reviews must have been written by the motel owners. No one could give it a good rating if they actually stayed there.
- Joe (6/5): - Great location to Uharrie, quite too.great staff..
- Linda (2/5): - this place is a dump..... no heat nasty stinky filthy
- Karen (8/5): - Convenient to Uwharrie National Forrest trailheads.
Only complaint is limited hot water.
- K (4/5): You get what you pay for - The gentleman who booked us in was very friendly. We had booked a non-smoking room. Our non-smoking room smelled like smoke and the couch had cigarette burns also the comforter had a cigarette burn. There was a Fresh coat of paint. the couch that was in the room was disgusting. large stains all over it. although there was a coffee pot there were two of us in the room and we only got one cup and nothing to stir with. if you want to dry your hair bring your own hair dryer because they don't have any in the room. Got a little pouch of shampoo but no conditioner or anything else. I realized for the price we would not be staying at the Ritz. however after seeing people's reviews and quite a few people had said it was clean and they would recommend it we decided to give it a try. You get what you pay for. Thankfully we booked on hotels.com because reservations.com wanted to charge us an extra $20 a night because we got the last room.
- Marquie (8/5): - What wonderful people! Truly such genuinlly nice people. They really went above and beyond to help us out while we escaped hurricane Florence. You can tell they are really putting alot of work into the place and it smelt soooo clean. Bed was comfortable. Very welcoming, I really canxt even tell you how wonderful these guys were! Thank you so very much!
- Lynne (10/5): - Quiet well maintained property. Quiet area with places to shop/eat just minutes away
- Branson (6/5): Convenient. Thanks. - Ok for the price.
