Guest Reviews
- Jayvion (2/5): - Roaches and homeless people everywhere
- Johnathon (2/5): - There was crackheads everywhere and the whole property was dirty and it's an inconvenient location cuz there's no restaurants around
- James (2/5): - This has been one of the worst motels I have booked through Expedia. We get to the motel to check in and we can't because the room wasn't clean. We had to check in at 3:30 instead of 3:00. After getting to our room we find cockroaches throughout the night and a rusty razor blade on the window seal, mindful that we have kids so that was alerting. After getting our kids ready to take a bath, there was only scolding hot water and no cold water. So our kids couldn't bathe without being scolded by water so we refrained from that. A hotel guest was playing loud music till the early morning hours and we had the worst sleep ever. In the morning we tried to do laundry but someone came into the laundry room and stopped our dryer by opening the door. So we had to use extra money to finish the drying process.
- Ron (10/5): - Suprr friendly, convenient and affordable!
- Kristi (2/5): - Nastiest place I have ever book.
- Christopher (2/5): - Bad
- Barry S (2/5): - Unsecured windows and doors . No resolution. Left
- Baltazar (6/5): - It's ok
- Alma (2/5): - It is a very old property, there are bed bugs and when I got into the room there were some flies around. The only good thing about it, is the front desk lady, she is very nice.
- Katie (10/5): - Sraff is friendly, they have a fridge whichbis a must however they have cutely tucked away behind a drawe, theres a sitting area, and a desk which is of upmost importance to an university student, also its clean.
- Brandon (8/5): - The office at this place does close at 10 pm and anytime after that is a no go you cannot book from 10pm to 3pm of you need a room between 10pm and 3pm you wont be able to get a room.
- Cynthia (8/5): - Privacy
- Diana (10/5): - Everything
- Andrew (4/5): 2 star review - Advertised as newly remodeled, not even close.
- Ian (6/5): - Not even comforting at all to see there.
- jennifer (2/5): - I was there for four days. Nobody come in clean my room. I had to go down and get my own towels. It was completely unsafe people everywhere at night especially outside
- Ruben (2/5): - The heater did not work in our room at all and it was cold as hell in the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good prices
- Mallee2022764 (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE!! - I got ripped off so badly, with no retribution. I had to throw out tons of new stuff due to bed bugs. 2 rooms had bedbugs. It was a nightmare. Had to change rooms 3 times. One room had sheets so filthy it looked like every excretion was left on the bed. Blood, pee stains, dead skin. Smoky room so bad, I've had a nagging cough for weeks. The general or regional(?) manager is an Indian guy with no respect for women, or people in general. Housekeeper stole a ton of brand new clothes & items I have to replace. No one there is held accountable. Convicts and drug dealers live there. Cops show up at the motel every other day to arrest someone. Roaches the size of a mouse.
- Matthew (2/5): - Terrible service. Nobody was in the office to check us in so I had to call maintenance and they couldn’t give me the rooms I paid for (2 non-smoking 2-bed rooms) and instead have me smoking 1-bed rooms. Incredibly unhelpful. 0/10
- Firoz (4/5): - The parking was pretty much easy and the place was quite enough, those are the cool things. The room amenities specifically the room heater and I could say room insulation was terrible. We entered into the room and immediately turned on the heater, but after 3 to 4 hours later the room was still cold. The outdoor temperature was around -1 to 0 degree centigrade and room heater was not working.Jesus! It was freezing cold inside and I didn’t even sleep for a second. Then early in the morning I went to manager office and she gave me another room. The second room was okay and finally I slept for 2-3 hours and drove back to home. Overall, it was a terrible night, however the the manager was good.
- Deveron (2/5): - Room 226: no lighting in stairwell (which was open to side street) urine smell (dirty floor), door lock issue, TV & phone didn’t work, heater not working, microwave filthy, no place to hang coats/clothes, no wastebaskets in room, toilet not anchored to floor, no outlet in bathroom, middle of the night noise disturbances from other clients, missing furniture from room based on Expedia photos. Requested to leave a day early due to these issues. Would like a refund for that day.
- Sarah (10/5): - Always a comfortable stay. Just wish they would fix the laundry room
- Paul (8/5): - just met need
- Alexis (2/5): - We weren’t even able to check in they closed and never answered or calls or the doors!
- Jeffrey (8/5): A gem in the rough. - The motel was nothing to rave about. We were in town to visit family and needed a place to stay overnight. This motel handled that role admirably. We did have one little mantainance issue when we first arrived, but we informed the front desk and it was taken care of -- no problem.
The people we encountered were friendly, the place was, by and large, quiet, and at the price it turned out to be a great value.
- Michael (2/5): Worst hotel ever - Save your money, it would be better sleeping in your car or stay anywhere else
- Verified traveler (8/5): - El Patio Inn was a decent place to stay. There were some mosquitoes, and what looked to be some baby bugs, but honestly it wasn’t bad. Bathroom was small, and I wasn’t surrounded by as much as I thought I would be, but the staff was so nice, and I didn’t have any issues while here!
- JEFFREY (6/5): Not for families. - This would be an okay economic long term stay for someone doing construction work or something. One of our beds didn't have sheets. The receptionist was sitting outside with her friends and wasn't available at all times. Tv was old with not many channels. If it's cheap enough it's okay but not really for families.
- Juan (2/5): - Didn’t even stay. Wouldn’t let my dog spend the night there
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Its ok
- Annette (8/5): Once finished it will be a good stay - Loved the patio area. So comfy. Just too much traffic during late hours.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rate was super wallet-friendly and the room was clean and well-kept the only negative was a poorly vented bathroom and shower drain odor.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like the spacious parking lot, the room is clean.
I Don’t like the old TV
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The parking was good. The service and the room was bad . i reserved a nonsmoking room 2 wks ahead on the ground floor. Got there and was given a smoking stinky room on the second floor
- Verified traveler (4/5): VPID AT ALL COST! - Pro
-the lady at the front desk is very nice
Cons
-the maintenance man kept starting at me & so finally I asked if he wanted something & informed the front desk that he is making me uncomfortable
-there was a domestic fight that resulted in the gentleman staying at the hotel running barefoot around the motel & his Hd/wife/whoever was yelling & screaming at him to give her car keys. Other people came out of the room looking to see what happened
-btw, some ppl live at the motel for days, months & even YEARS.....yes YEARS!!
-the room besides me had a dispute that lead to the gf/wife/whoever she was to slam the door so hard that I could feel the door slam on my bed & even the gentleman staying adjacent to the room peeled out to see what happened
-the doors are so dirty
-the noise of the road didn’t let me see & I’m not a light sleeper
-on the whole, sboid this place!!! It’s scary!! The only reason I decided to stay was coz it was close by to the venue I needed to go to the next morning
- DANIEL (8/5): Good value for travelers on a budget! - I've stayed here before and things seem a little less tidy than before. Bathroom was clean and updated, but the shower had barely enough water pressure to make it out of the nozzle. Floors were clean but under the desk and bed frame had not been swept. Right next to the mattress there was obvious dust on the wooden bed frame. Room mirror was not clean. On the plus side, nice to have windows that open.
- Sarah (4/5): Horrible management - Office staff was very nice. The room was clean. But the owner's wife was very rude. She also kicked me out because I have a service animal. She gave me 1 hour to get out or she was calling the cops.
- itzelnc9 (2/5): Hotel room dirty, - Motel was old, room was dirty, bed spread was stained. Although serv was friendly I would not recommend this place old, trash in the stairwell bed spread was stained. The service staff were friendly but the motel was definitely low rent. The price was cheap but I would not stay there again.
- Kristina (2/5): Beware!! Beg Bugs - Beware!!! The room appeared clean until the second night when we found bed bugs. The bed was horribly uncomfortable and the room wasn’t cleaned in between the first and second night. Instead a note was left informing us they’d clean it the next day, after we left, gee thanks! When we went to complain about the bed bugs the office was closed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not comfortable - The beds are extremely hard. The rooms have a weard chemical smell and everything in it is super old fashion including the tv. The worst part is that there is no handy blow dryer in the restrooms and you only get one roll of toilet paper.
- Larry (6/5): Ripped off room - No light bulbs in lamps, no batteries in tv remote, no extension cord to plug tv into outlet in 125. Someone had ripped room off. Moved to 125, and it was satisfactory.
- Jason (4/5): Thanks Capt obvious - Captain obvious failed to know that the hotel was in a sketchy area
- Diana (6/5): - this place is good for the price
- yes.notsure (8/5): - Tv outdated. Having technical problems with tv. Until I was able to get it to work. Over all happy.
- janices531 (10/5): Business Meeting - We were a little unsure about staying here because the price was so low but what a pleasant surprise. The room was huge, the bathroom was recently updated, the beds were comfortable and the hotel was very quiet. There were no extra amenities (like Kleenex, extra soaps or shampoos) but who cares. We would definitely stay here again. Nice pool area.
- Dina (10/5): - This is a great, affordable place to stay in San Angelo.
- Morgan (6/5): Good enough for what we needed - We just needed a cheap place to sleep after a gig. This did the trick. It was $47 and right down the road from the gig. Wasn't terrible but I wouldn't stay here for a vacation.
Pros - we couldn't check in until after midnight and the security guard was right there to help us get checked in. The room was plenty big enough. The AC/Heat unit had a remote. There was a full size fridge in the room which would be nice if you were having an extended stay. The lady at the front desk was super nice at checkout.
Cons - Not the cleanest place I've ever stayed. The comforter had some burn holes in it. I chose to skip my shower until I got home due to the state of the bathroom. There was a weird dirty Q-tip jammed into the window and I wasn't sure if it was there to keep it shut or what, but I left it alone... kinda gross though. Water damage on the ceiling. The towels were well worn. The bathroom door wouldn't shut because it was falling off the top hinge. The TV had lines constantly on the screen. There was a good ole boy fixing his VERY loud truck at 7:30 AM (not the hotel's fault).
Again... I wouldn't stay here for more than one night, but it was pretty much what we expected and the little service we required was great.
- Dina (10/5): - Great staff and great prices!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very lumpy matress, no coffee, dirty shower, terrible wifi and tv.
They do have an overnight security guard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Reservation wasn’t in the system. Still got me a room. Outdated, but clean and well kept. As satisfying as expected.
- Brittany (10/5): Quiet and Comfortable - The staff was very friendly and informative. We arrived early and our room wasn't going to be ready for another hour. The gentleman at the front desk suggested some things we could do close by to pass the time while waiting. As a result we drove over to the river walk area and we able to enjoy something we might not have known about. The room was comfortable and clean. If I had to complain about anything it was that we weren't able to get some extra pillows because we were told they were fully booked for the night and none were available. Nothing major and we made out fine with what we had. So it's not really a complaint as an observation of sorts. For a no thrills place that we were only staying for one night it fit the bill. It was very quiet as well which was a little surprising for being full on a Friday night. Overall very pleasant stay.
- BigBs (4/5): - Raul at the front desk went above an beyond to accommodate my stay. I was very appreciative of him. He was about the only good thing about the hotel. They better keep him on staff for sure.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bed bugs - This place has bed bugs!!!
- Travis (8/5): Not a dream vacation. A Great place to sleep! - I believe the stay was well worth the money. It was a small motel hotel room. I expected that for the price I did not expect the Ritz!
I hope you consider this place it is not the best place but it by far it’s not the worst place they are trying to improve it! I would hope you’d get a chance if you have a place to stay this cheap and you’re not expecting to stay there all day if you’re just going to sleep it’s a nice place to sleep!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the historical character of the facility. It appears to be up in years, but it has maintained a rustic yet appealing and welcoming attractiveness.
I requested non-smoking room. First room offered had a strong smoke smell to it, and was rather hidden, which may cause safety concerns for some. I requested a change.
I was offered a fresh smelling room which was clean and had amenities which resulted in a very pleasant stay for me.
Thanks to Monica for making the necessary adjustments resulting in a very pleasant stay. Thank You.
- 59danal (4/5): Greatly Disappointed - I was looking forward to my stay at the El Patio Inn. After three weeks there, having been promised a "weekly" cleaning because I am renting monthly on business here with Shannon Medical Center, the room cleaning has yet to occur. I paid $775 for a room, and right across the street at The Lodge is the exact same room for $725, owned by the same people. My room has not even been swept for three weeks. I cleaned my toilet this morning myself. I have called and asked and emailed with the Mgr Grace, who was very apologetic, still when I got to my room yesterday, nothing was done. So, me and the other RN traveler at these hotels are moving. The way I was spoken to over the phone by Raul was just utterly unacceptable. It amazes me that hotels like this do not cater to the business travelers because word spreads and they could grow amazing businesses here especially with all of the medical travelers who work at Shannon Hospital. Up until yesterday, I felt like I could have worked through any issue that came forward but their staff's responses to me were caustic lacking any empathy at all that we are far from home. At least honor what you advertise and promise to your customers, and don't price gouge just because a company has handed you their credit card. They take that rent out of our checks.
- tmaxwell2018 (6/5): Extended Stay: 5 Weeks - I stayed at this motel in San Angelo, TX due to finding employment in Angelo and just needing something temporary until I could find an apartment. To start off the customer service at this place is great usually but sometimes they won’t listen to your complaints/concerns at all, (I’ll explain later). One of the best parts of this motel is the shower it is fully tiled and is a walk-in shower and the water pressure is phenomenal. The mattress is pretty firm but gives enough to get a goodnight’s rest. The TV package is pretty expansive and the Micro/Mini-Fridge unit worked great as well. The A/C unit did it’s job too, it cooled the room and keeps it cold the entire time you have it on. This motel is located literally across the street from a neighborhood Wal-Mart so that’s nice if you ever need something really quick. Really my only biggest complaint at this motel is the internet never ONCE worked for my phone. I literally complained daily for about a week and they kept saying someone was coming to fix it and no one ever did. So if I ever needed to use the internet I had to run across the street to the Wal-Mart that had free wifi. All in all, if you staying here for an extended stay it will definitely get the job done.
- kelliw270 (2/5): Will not return - Unpleasant experience! There were ants on the wall. The bathroom window would not lock. The room was hot and did not cool down. The towels were stained and the comforter had burn holes. We attempted to contact the manager Grace by telephone for about a week as we left the room after being there less than 2 hours. She has yet to return our calls. Front office staff (Matt) was very friendly and apologetic.
- deniseg708 (10/5): Cozy affordable rooms - The room was exactly as pictured & described. Very clean & comfortable. TNo pool but not a problem for us. Very welcoming. When in San Angelo again this will be our place to stay. Rooms very close to nice attractions & restaurants.
- PMSUMMER (6/5): A cheap and clean place to sleep. - I love old motels and motor courts. A quick trip to San Angelo provided the opportunity to try El Patio. It's cheap. It's clean. It has long-term residents. It has a security guard overnight. It has no amenities (other than free wi-fi). The people were very nice.
- N5666YOkellyw (8/5): over coming a bad reputation - Years ago the El Patio was one of the nicer motels in San Angelo. But a few years ago drugies and drug dealers began to hang out there. A new owner is turning that around. The rates are reasonable. The staff is very helpful. The room we stayed in had recently been redone and was nice enough. At night, our room was quiet, except for the traffic on Beauregard.
I would stay at the El Patio again and would recommend it to friends.
- X6485XJricharda (10/5): Might as well be my new home :) - Have been staying here the last few months and will be here a while longer. I have 0 complaints. The staff is outright amazing. Polite, efficient, dang good folks. The rooms are clean and comfy, have yet to have a sleepless night. Is my recommendation to anyone 🖖🏻
- 820joshi (8/5): What a VALUE! - I have traveled extensively and have never found such great rooms at this price! The hotel is close by the downtown area which offers great night life. The hotel staff is all very accommodating, from the time I checked in to the time I checked out. I actually met the owner and he was great as well. Thanks El Patio for a great stay and when I return I will stay again.
- laleelew (8/5): Remodeled Gem - This historic motor inn has a drive in center parking lot so your vehicle is close and accessible. The newly remodeled rooms have very nice furnishings and tile floors. Located conveniently in the center of town with lots of nearby amenities such as the civic theatre and a nice new grocery store. The location is close to the university, shopping and many restaurant options as well. There's a nicely landscaped lawn area in the center of the parking lot with bbq grills and picnic tables available to guest. The rooms are affordably priced and the staff is super friendly!!
