Guest Reviews
- Lynette (8/5): Relaxed accommodation for larger families - It was a nice place to stay in town with easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The views are beautiful!
- Ryan (10/5): - Very friendly owner. Beautiful view. Will definitely stay here again. All was good.
- Patriza (10/5): -
- Maia (7/5): Very clean, nothing fancy - The place was extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable. Nice view of the water. Great location, within walking distance to the boardwalk, restaurants, and outdoor market. This place is very very very old. It is outdated and mis-matched, the floors are wobbly and uneven, the stairs are steep and narrow. This is a place to sleep, nothing more. Overpriced for what it has to offer.
- Bill (8/5): Digby stay - The property was lovely and the host came to meet us when we arrived. The place was clean and the appliances worked fine; it was a very pleasant overnight stay.
- Stadling (5/5): Passable - Big bedroom It had a really bad smell. It was like it had been closed up for years and just opened up for our visit without any cleaning or airing out. It could have been freshened up with candles or just a good cleaning. There were spider webs in almost every corner, and the floors felt gritty.
Also, it would have been a good idea to mow the grass. That would have made a big difference to the first impression of the place.
- Brenda (5/5): Passable -
- Jennifer (9/5): Would stay again. - location was great. Short walk to shops and restaurants. Took a few minutes to find the place as it was not very well marked. Great view. Needs ice bucket. A few more ice trays would be great. The BBQ is on its last legs, Only one of the igniters worked and was missing a few parts. We had a lighter so it was OK. The upstairs bedroom could use a skylight as it felt a little closed in.
- Abe (8/5): good stay was traveling on so stayed only one night - hard to find need some signage at the street very friendly service .................................................................................................................................... location signage..................................................................................................................................................................................................
- Carole (9/5): Quite delightful - Property is quite old, floors sloping but it was quirky and charming. Kitchen was well stocked with many thoughtful items, also the bathroom.
Loved the piano even though it badly needed tuning, still enjoyed playing it. Wonderful deck with perfect views of the bay and harbour. Wish l had time to stay more than one night. Appreciate that pets accepted. No screens in windows that opened to allow fresh air in and keep bugs out. Beds were comfortable but noisy when moving around on them.
Large couch facing window too low and not comfortable, not very useful.
Bathroom rather far from sleeping area but can’t be helped due to design of cottage.
- Day (9/5): Wonderful cottage! - Wonderful little cottage with breathtaking view!
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonina (6/5): Not recommended - The surrounding area was scary. Inside cabin was fine accept the step up into the living bedroom space was dangerous. Curtains were needed in the kitchen area. Accessiblity would be an issue for some. Really hard to contact owners and find the cabin. Would not recommend!!
- Ashish (8/5): - It was small but well maintained property.
Everything was there .
Except the main living room heating system was there but didn't worked .
- Sylvia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rosebar1 (3/5): Poor - The view from the room is amazing All the furniture are in bad condition. The mattresses are old, soft and the linens felt used. The bathroom door is in front of two big windows with no blinds! There was no one there when we arrived and the owner didn't answer the phone. We searched everywhere and found the keys hidden somewhere. After an hour he wrote us a message asking if we arrived and after 2 hours sent us the wifi password. If you need some comfort and privacy, don't go there.
- Singleton (1/5): Bad -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Sylvie (8/5): great place - The view is just awesome but sad we were not beside the water… Was sure we were beside water
Need little step to go up and down the living room bed for people who are not strong enough
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danine (4/5): Unit reeks of stale cigarette smoke. - The view is beautiful, the location is good and there is plenty of room. The host was very nice and seemed eager to please. The unit absolutely reeked of stale cigarette smoke. It just ruined the experience. You can't stop thinking about it because you were reminded of it with every breath you take, even when asleep.
Also, when I made the reservation, I got a fraud alert on my credit card for an unknown amount to "House of Wong Restaurant." Because I confirmed with my bank that I did not make this unrecognized payment, my bank cancelled my credit card -- which I had reserved all my hotel stays on for my entire vacation. This was UNBELIEVABLY inconvenient because as the vacation went on, all the hotels then contacted me as my stay approached, to tell my my card was declined, and I had to give all of them my alternate card number, while trying to enjoy myself on my vacation. It turns out the unrecognizable amount charged was 1/2 the cost of the stay (a deposit) at 78 Montague, which is why I didn't recognize it, and "House of Wong Restaurant" was the host's business, which I had no way of knowing BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WRITE THIS IN THE LISTING. All of this could have been avoided had they announced this in their advertisement on booking.com. When I told the host this, she said "All the AirBandB's do it." Uh, no, sorry, they don't, for a good reason: it confuses people and causes them to think the charge is fraud.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay anyplace else - This place was described incorrectly prompting me to write this review. It is a modified cottage and if you are over 6'2" you can not stand up straight in the older portion without hitting the ceiling. The bathroom had an unknown brown stain on floor and several air fresheners gave entire cottage an unpleasant smell. The shower stall is in the old/low ceiling portion of the building and is also the smallest shower possible. Showering was not a possiblity and I would not recommend this unless NOTHING else is available. Owner refused to refund rental fee despite the problem with ceiling height and overall codition. I may try and post pictures at another time.
- Diane (8/5): - Our stay was quite pleasant once we got everything settled with what room we actually booked! Good bang for our buck!
