Guest Reviews
- Kathryn (10/5): - Facility is old and a bit quirky, but we have stayed there several times and the rooms are immaculate and the beds comfortable.
- Don (4/5): Didn’t get accessible room access requested - Booked nearly month ago on Hotels.com. Noting: “ Requesting Handicapped or close access room near entrance on first floor, I walk with a cane.”
Got call from hotel on road 4 hours before arrival noting “ I'm calling about your reservation you have with us you requesting a room downstairs and we do not have anything available downstairs we have a lot of workers in pretty much call our hotel along all our rooms and the only thing we have is upstairs and so we need to cancel this you can find a room that go for you one of the other properties that are in town please call me back at 559-9816441‘
I called back with manager noting Hotels.com never forwarded request until morning of stay and I had prepaid and while driving was unable to research other options, forcing me to stay.
Bad breakdown of communication somewhen forced my disabled 70 year old body to climb stairs, gratefully with great assistance from desk staff member. Am booked to stay at same hotel on my return trip in 6 days and asked for assurance of being on ground floor.
- Jay (10/5): - Kind of a sketchy neighborhood
- Roy (8/5): - Nothing to dislike in particular and nothing particular to rave about. The location is fine. The neighborhood was quiet. The hotel staff was courteous.
- catawbakat58 (2/5): Not a place you'd want to stay - If you're familiar with the Bates Motel from the movie Psycho, then you have a perfect idea of what you'll be driving up to.
- Allen (4/5): What is the deal with updated laundry scheme - Eco frienly...does that mean doing laundry every three days, or every three stays.
- Randy (4/5): Poor Grounds - The room was fine but the walkways and stairs were not in good shape. Matter of fact they were dangerous. I tripped over the walk making the north walkway dangerous.
- Randy (4/5): - The room was fine but the walkways and stairs were not in good shape. Matter of fact they were dangerous. I tripped over the walk.
- fayk888 (4/5): Will see seek other accommodations - I decided to book a two-night stay at this Travelodge, based on good reviews, however, our experience did not align with those reviews.
We requested an upper floor, and it appeared she heard me, however, when we got to the keys, it was on the first floor, next to the breakfast room. Okay, as long as I don't deal with noisy, loud people, I'll make it work. When I peruse the room, the first thing I saw, was the lack of amenities, one measly sliver of soap, no shampoo/conditioner, no tissue box and one measly plastic cup. I had to go back and ask for tissues. When the room was cleaned the next day, no extra cups were provided or replaced, just the one that was used previously, so had to go back to get cups (she didn't appear too happy, when I asked for a box of tissue and cups). In addition, no breakfasts were served, (breakfast room was lock), not even a cup a coffee, which was all I wanted, since there was no coffee machine in the room (and photos clearly showed coffee machines in the rooms).
I guess early check out (6:30 AM) is not an option either, since the office was locked, and according to person who responded in the ringtone instructions, just leave the keys in the room when we leave. Ok then.
As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to give this place a try, based on good reviews, however, the next time I come to Evanston, I will see seek other accommodations.
- shanse697107 (6/5): Wyoming weekend - Went to Wyoming downs for weekend with family and friends and needed a place to shower and sleep. Didn't get alof sleep, but shower was good.
- wyogoldens (2/5): NEVER, EVER ATTEMPT TO STAY HERE - Even though an e-mail stating reservation information, including the name of the person for whom the reservation was made, was shown to the desk attendant, my husband was not allowed to check-in. On the plus side, the customer service representative did immediately reinstate the points used to secure the reservation.
- Isabelle (6/5): - Pas d'eau chaude pour prendre notre douche après le souper. On a dû attendre à 21h30 pour avoir de l'eau tiède. Le matin on arrive au déjeuner, plus de café et personne à l'office.
- Kathleen (6/5): Old old property- needs a remodel - Gentleman checking me in was efficient and courteous. Property is run down and old. I am surprised Wyndham is associated with the property. Area of Evanston WY very run down. There seems to be a concern over meth, weed and cigarettes along with cooking in the rooms.
- Steven B (8/5): - OK property for the price.
- John (10/5): - Paid a few extra bucks for a deluxe room. Place was clean and comfy. TV was excellent with your choice of DirecTV or Roku. Guy at the front desk was friendly and a good restaurant critic. Reasonably priced. Stay here!
- Mildred (10/5): - Spacious room, simple and clean
- Allen (10/5): - Clean but old..the desk clerk is an amazing person that took care of us.
- James (10/5): - Nice facilities. Close to the Interstate.
- Angelica (10/5): - Excelent!!
- Sarah (10/5): - Such nice people that work here! A lovely, clean, no frills spot great for a road trip overnight
- AngelaHansen84116 (6/5): Friendly Owners - Room was average, about what you would expect for 59 a night. Bed was lumpy. Wifi Excellant. Clean, no bugs, etc. Bedding and towels were worn, but clean. Heating unit worked great in this 15 degree winter days. Owners were wonderful and responsive. Asked for an extra blanket, received promptly, and very friendly. I come into this area 3 times a year and have spent time in several hotels. While this one is a lot older than some, and a little more worn down I will stay here again because of the owners. If you just need a spot to get a night or two rest while out on your travels I would recommend here. No frills, not luxury but completely adequate for a day or two.
- rpoqui537466 (10/5): Safe and fast internet - Place was quiet, safe and internet was fast. Location is not far from restaurants and diners. Room could use an air freshener and AC is noisy when running. Customer service (Cat) is awesome, very helpful and accommodating to our needs.
- Edward (10/5): - Great place to stay in a small town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For an older motel it was clean & comfortable & quiet . It would have been nice to hear the tv & or better instructions, I tried everything I knew to do short of going to the office late late. I would probably go there again ! Rate was excellent for older seniors.
- Carmen (8/5): - Staff was friendly and informative at check in room was comfortable and the bed was comfortable. An older hotel but clean without that smell from cleaning stuff. Great price for a one night stay
- Sam (8/5): - Good people here!
- Chad (10/5): - The room was very comfortable and clean, enjoyed my stay.
- Larry (10/5): - Conveient, fair price
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Close to where i need to be
- Joseph (8/5): - Manager/owner was very friendly but gave us keys to an occupied room. Oops! The room was clean, but the bathroom needs updating. The exterior of the motel is in bad shape with crumbling concrete decking and steps. We were referred to the restaurant next door and had an excellent meal. Interstate road noise may be an issue for some.
- naturaldetails (8/5): Good place to stay - The room was very clean and comfortable. Some of the room needs updating, but that's not a problem. The location was convenient and the owner was happy to make recommendations for restaurants.
It's a good place to stay.
- francis (10/5): - the motel staff was very helpful, said the resturant next door had very good mexician food(and it was),clean ,quite, easy to interstate, all good)
- Ali (2/5): - I was told there was no room available despite booking. They said Expedia was supposed to email me. Extremely disappointing since I had to find a different place. And I am not going thru Expedia
- chad (2/5): - property in poor condition. there were over 30 moths in my room, had to move I guess you get what you pay for.
- Lona (2/5): - Trash, broken down cars, cigarette butts everywhere, building a bad shape. The worst place we ever stayed. Never again!
- Charmaine (2/5): - There was no “closet”. Only a hanging rack like what you would use to hang wet clothes to dry. The tv did not work. There were extension cords all over the place- too many to be safe. The microwave was on top of the very small refrigerator and the coffee maker was standing on top of the microwave. There was a large mud pile outside the room that had to be stepped in to get I the room that was slippery almost causing a fall. The person at the front desk tried to say I didn’t have a reservation although I had a printed copy. After several minutes he “found” it. This place deserves ZERO stars and I encourage Expedia to remove their association with this property. If I could get my money back, I most DEFINITELY WOULD! I have stayed in better properties in third world countries!!!!!!!!
- Julie (8/5): -
We had to park in the restaurant parking lot next door.
- Bonita (8/5): - We had a upper level room, and the stairs there were broken cement and the walk way also. the railing going upstairs was lose. The gentleman that checked us in was very nice to us.
- Christopher R (10/5): - Friendliness
- Edward (10/5): - Excellent service.
- bonita (2/5): The worst - I made this reservation for my cousin and he's disabled they gave him my room upstairs everything was so bad including the front desk people. That he left that night at 10:00 p.m. never go back they would not work with him on getting a room downstairs
- George (4/5): - The building is falling apart with crumbling concrete stairs. No security lock on door.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Okay stay - Okay motel for the price. Room kind of dusty so I have to take out my spray & paper towel to wipe off.
Owner was friendly. Took time to chat with us.
- Crispin (10/5): - well clean room
- kevin (6/5): - Expedia messed up( again), tried to book at Days inn Evanston, on Harrison Ave., not here, did not stay at any travel Lodge, but days inn didn't have a reservation either, so my sister found a hotel, no Expedia used.have now deleted app from my phone..Expedia booked a hotel that had been closed for over a year..and cannot be trusted. Ever, didn't book my Lincoln Nebraska stay the next day( Tuesday
4/18/23) either,, so long Expedia..booked both stays on 4/17, at 4:15 am. You didn't book them., Hotels never heard of me..Days inn, in Evanston,,motel 6 in Lincoln neb.
- Chrissy (4/5): - The check in was ok but the internet was down so it was like a half hour check in. the man was very nice and talkative though. Got to the room and it was freezing in there. had to turn heat to 80 but still never got really warm. heater ran all night to try to warm it and it was pretty loud. guess you get what you pay for
- I5155JRkarlal (10/5): Highly recommend - This hotel exceeded my expectations. It’s not a fancy hotel but the room was not expensive, the room was very clean, and the owners are one of the nicest people I have ever met. Thank you for a good experience
- Nina (8/5): Nice stay - Clean, quiet, laundry on-site & close to services in town. Older facility. Could use some electrical upgrades.
- Jeannie (10/5): - Great stay ! Great staff! Staying extra nights here.
- Julian (6/5): - People party late into evening smelled like smoke, work moved me and was told couldn't cancel on one night so even though I wasn't there still had to pay
- Karen (6/5): - The floors were not too clean. There was sunflower seeds by the bed from the person before and dirt and dust behind the bathroom door and along the base boards. The people were very nice and the beds were good. I don't think they have ever swept off the sidewalks out front.
- rdsm77 (6/5): Great staff - Upon getting to the hotel, it looked pretty dumpy and may have permanent sketchy residents. But the people behind the front desk were really nice and that made me more comfortable staying there. Also appeared to be cameras outside the hotel. Assuming they work and not just providing a false sense of security.
My room was on the first floor. I was pleasantly surprised to find the staff left a tray of snacks and drinks on the bed. What a really nice touch and perfect for travelers.
The room wasn’t fancy but quite suitable for my needs. The room was pretty big. It could fit two beds, but was set up more like a suite with one bed and a couple chairs and a coffee table. Against the wall there was a really long table/dresser where the tv was sitting and also a bench to put the suitcase plus a separate desk. The plug situation was weird, but my laptop cord was able to reach. Even though it was the first floor, the floor creaked a lot which was weird.
The shower was one of the best I ever had. Great water pressure. I could reach the shower head and adjust it. Good temp. The fridge had a freezer. Always a plus to refreeze my ice packs for my coolers. They left an interesting brand of shampoo that I took home. The tv was HUGE. Took a while to figure out how to turn it on but there were lots of channels. No problem with the wi-fi.
Still an issue with the rest of the people staying there which is why I didn't give a higher rating, but no one messed with my car. Could hear people talking loudly next door and upstairs late at night. No barking dogs which was a plus, but I heard a lot of strange noises. Despite that, I still slept well.
- Scott (10/5): - Friendly owner or manager, good stay for the $
- Yvonne (10/5): - A comfortable room that was clean. Light breakfast provided.
- Corinne (6/5): Not accommodating for Disabled. - When I booked the room I requested a bottom floor room as we have a teenager in a wheelchair. When we arrived to check in we were put in a 2nd floor room no elevator and when I mentioned that we needed a bottom floor because of the wheelchair the lady said, sorry we are full. I had to carry my son up 16 steep stairs. The cement on the sidewalk and balcony was crumbling and not safe.
- Svetlana (10/5): - The front desk was very nice and heplful, had very good insite about the area and very friendly!
- Lora (6/5): Clean, decent beds - It's an old building. The wall heating unit is really noisy. Couldn't check out on Sunday because no one was in the office. Very clean, and comfortable beds. We were only there to sleep, so it was adequate.
- OnAir29953856274 (2/5): Dirty, dingy, deferred maintenance - RUDE Manager! Find another hotel!! - Reading previous reviews, I have to wonder if some rooms have been refurbished and others remain a knock-off of the Bates Hotel!
Caught here by blizzard conditions and closed roads, literally looking for a respite from the storm, and this was the only hotel with rooms available.
Called ahead, speaking with manager, “Cat”; who was very curt and not forthcoming with information.
Upon arrival, provided with upstairs room. Snow and ice were packed on stairs. It appeared no shoveling or ice melt had been utilized.
Door to room was difficult to open, as snow had built up INSIDE the room! It was VERY cold in the room. Noisy heater ran all night, trying to keep up.
Doors and light switches are covered with black fingerprints, doorknob malfunctions, requiring brute strength to open and close door, hinges rusty. Phone does not work (potential emergency risk?), sink faucet leaks and sink is chipped/rusty, missing tile around shower. Bed is propped up on wooden blocks. Electrical outlets are overloaded, with extension cords pulled across the top of heater. (potential electrical malfunction?)
No blanket on the bed - only a sheet and thin bedspread. When I went downstairs to ask for a blanket, the manager rudely informed me that a blanket “should be in one of the drawers of the credenza”. I asked for ice. “someone” had unplugged the ice machine. “Come back in 30 minutes.”
The icing on the cake was when the Manager informed me I could “go to Motel 6. They’ll take ANYONE there!”
Save yourself money, frustration and be safe. DON’T stay at the Travelodge!!
- 412cherih (10/5): AMAZING STAY - OMG what amazing owners.. I was stranded because of big storm coming thru and when i pulled in i pulled in on the wrong side and the snow was covering the curb and i was stuck and they all came out to help and they finally got me backed out... They gave me a room at the end downstairs and omg !!!! i usually stay at motel 6 and this hotel beats them by a long shot... AMAZING room with a bed with a nice mattress... I would recommend this hotel if your needing a room while traveling.. very nice clean, comfortable and safe place AND ran by a very wonderful family.. i would give more stars if i could.....
- alana (6/5): A little ran down - It was ok for a couple hours of sleep
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This was rated a 7 out of 10
I don’t think so, maybe a 5 the bedding was comfortable and nice. Owners very friendly
Door looked like it had kicked in Shower faucet backwards hot was cold. Fridge had kid stickers on it
Furniture was stained. See pics for more
- Susie (8/5): - We got there late at night and left real early. I didn’t get to see the property but it looked good.
- Carol (8/5): - Couch and TV area
- 763melindak (6/5): Overnight - The man at the desk was kind and accommodating. The room was clean which is the most important thing to me. They were actively cleaning carpets and doing their best to give a comfortable stay. The price is right for a clean hotel. It is not the newest hotel but remodeled and freshly painted and matching color scheme.
Plus in an area that's hard to find a clean room and accommodations in this area I recommend you stop and enjoy a good night sleep. They had new TV and coffee maker worked. And good AC and heater! Nice hot shower.
- Clinton (10/5): - Clean rooms, conveniently located not far from town and interstate, reasonably priced!
- Charles (10/5): Nice stay - It is older but clean, the carpet is nice. The bed was good too.The towels were good too We will definitely stay here again
- Edward (10/5): Nice Inside - The inside of the room was very nice
- John (10/5): Great Budget Stay - A great Budget stay. $60 for a single King, very comfortable clean room. Older facility but maintained.
Lots of commercisl and railqY workers stay here.
Not affected by railroad noise as are many motels in Evanston.
Great Mexican restaurant a block down the street.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Evanston diamond in the rough - Perfectly nice stay. Older property and some peeling paint in the room but the linens and nathroom were clean and i did not worry about bugs or security. Very fair price for our overnight rest. Exterior is older but clean enough. Very nice owner gave dinner recs and was helpful. Highly recommend for a casual overnight in the area!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - reserved 3 rooms, only got 2 and was charged for the 3rd.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The exterior of the building needs a LOT of work. However the room was surprising clean and well maintained.
The bed was comfortable and the amenities were fine. We were unable to get ice in the morning as the ice machine is in the office and it was locked. There are no outside vending machines. They are also in the office.
The BIG problem with this room was the ‘freshener’ being used. Upon entering the room it wasn’t too bad and I assumed it would dissipate. I knew that the manager had just recently cleaned the room so it wasn’t surprising.
However, as the evening wore on the smell became oppressive. I searched the room throughly looking for the source so I could toss it out and it turned out to be saturated in the carpet. I kept the fan on the A/C unit running all night which helped a little.
This stuff was so intense, it caused a seriously nasty headache, stuffed up sinuses and nausea.
It is now almost 24 hours later and I still have a pounding headache.
A clean room has NO smell and having these types of odor cover ups can be really cause a lot of problems for people.
Just be aware before booking if you are in any degree sensitive to chemical air fresheners.
- lizzyl866 (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE ( even if your desperate) - My friend and I needed a cheap place to stay while traveling but as soon as we got here we saw a creepy dude with long grey hair who looked straight out of the state penitentiary. This should have been an immediate red flag but we were optimistic. Thankfully as we entered our room, we were greeted by a dark aura and immediately felt the need to check the bed for bugs and the room for CAMERAS. This place is 100% no doubt a front for sex trafficking. Please stay safe and save your money.
I wish I could rate this a ZERO. place f**kin sucks.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The place was fine except for there being NO hot water coming out of the shower. It was ice cold.
- 821almag (2/5): Dirty with no shame - The room had garbage under the bed and night stand along with dirty socks. There was an insense on a bar of soap as a stand under the bed to block out the smell. The comforters and sheets had several urine stains. They had different color face towels in flower pot decor that were torn and looked like cleaning rags. We notified the front desk and they did give us fresh blankets but that was it. We stayed because every hotel was booked.
- Kaye (10/5): Thumbs up! - The people in the reception area is very accommodating, peaceful area. Clean room
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convenient stopping spot and a good night's sleep. The nearby Piedmont ghost town was awesome!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Price was right, it is a older place that needs some upgrades but we just wanted a room that was clean. We didn't need to be a new place for twice the money.
- John (10/5): Adequate. - Fastest check-in ever! Room was adequate and everything was in good condition except for the faucet that sprayed everywhere. It was everything we needed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - room was dirty stained furniture hair on bed and pillows not worth the price i had to pay
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property was outdated and badly in need of improvements: cosmetics, maintenance, parking lot, updated furniture and bedding and beds, fixtures, etc...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great for me and my family to rest on our road trip to South Dakota. No issues. We are easy to please. No bugs or weird smells. Great staff in office was friendly. Nice restaurant next door.
- Trisha (2/5): - Room was dirty. Bathroom towel had a dirty handprint on it (not ours), beds low and uncomfortable, and air conditioning was not working well.
- Haley (10/5): Cozy - Great room and service. It was a nice and quiet place to stay the night after a long journey on the road.
- Kevin (4/5): So bad too much to list - Not sure where to begin. There was blood on the batroom door. The toilet had feces under the lip of the toilet. The light on the night stand didnt work. The TV didn't work.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was a basically vanilla motel.
The staff were nice and helpful.
The A worked nicely.
- Patricia (4/5): - No directv, the guy gave me wifi password- didn’t work. Shower was absolutely the worst ever, about two streams of water. Horrible room 28.
- amazonwoman0366 (10/5): Reasonable and nice. - On a 9 day road trip. Affordable older hotel, but staff very friendly and helpful. Had a 1st floor room and liked that the room was accessed from outside so didn't need to take everything through lobby. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Place was quiet too and 1st place on our trip that had a full hot breakfast. Would definitely stay again!
- Pieter (10/5): Gem in the wild - Oh my gish what a little gem in the middle of the wilderness. You just have to stay here. At least once. And fall in love.
- 392cindyf (10/5): Great place, even better people - The outside isn't much to look at. The rooms are just a little older, but clean is what I look for, and clean is what I found! Sheets, towels, bathroom, tub, sink fridge, microwave. Everything spotless!!
Wonderful people run this motel. They were so very helpful. Even loaned me a phone cord and cube so I wouldn't have to run and buy one at night.
I recommend this motel and the hosts. We had a great stay!
- Jameswood197436 (10/5): Affordable Luxury - Catarino Puentes and his wife are an amazing team when it comes to cleaning and having a friendly and welcoming demeanor. Exceptional service in EVERY way!!!!! Thank You for the awesome stay. I will ALWAYS stay at the Travelodge when I'm in Evanston Wyoming!
- James (2/5): Terrible location to stay - Don't even try. Just terrible. The A/C was broken, the toilet barely flushed, no seals around the outside door to keep the outside environment from getting inside, one tray of ice per room before a 50 cent charge for each bag after, the carpet had sharp grass seeds stuck in it, the beds were rock hard, the curtains didnt block out the light from the street, the shower handles were so stiff they had to be turned with a glove on for grip.
I cannot believe Wyndham allows this type of facility to be in operation.
I want a refund!!!!!!!!!!
I left after 35 minutes and went to the Holiday Inn Express. Wow! Well worth the few extra dollars.
- Morgan (2/5): - The room was dirty
- jeanette (6/5): clean - No phone to office no internet or was clean though
- Dawn (8/5): Older Motel - This hotel is old and in desperate need of an upgrade. The paint, carpeting and bathrooms could use a remodel. That being said, it was also very clean and comfortable. The motel manager was extremely nice, welcoming, and engaging. We needed a clean place to spend the night and grab a shower while on a cross country vacation. This place met those needs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient in and out for the weary traveler. The local Jalisco restaurant, recommended by staff was excellent
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice and clean place. Useful as a pit stop between ski resorts in Salt Lake City and Jackson Hole.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the big rooms, the queen beds, having a microwave and mini fridge. I didn't like the sheet of ice that was hanging over the roof. I was scared that it might fall on my car if it came loose. Clean rooms and friendly staff. I would stay again, maybe not during winter though.
- CheyBill (8/5): Older hotel with renovations - I selected this motel on a tourist trip from Arizona to the Blackhills because of the location and price. It is Evanston, not expecting much, I was pleasantly surprised that the room in an older hotel had been nicely remodeled. Breakfast was fairly standard of Wyndham qualcity. But Kat and the staff were above expectation, so much so that I stayed here a week later on the return trip.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ok for 1 night - - So - the room was quite which is nice since my husband is a light sleeper - the lock on the door needs to be replaced - which it looks like they are updating the rooms. We didn't stay for breakfast - no elevator so had to drag luggage up the stairs - we had a free night with Wyndham which we booked for Evenston - and for some reason booked us in Evensville, WY - which we didn't notice until Thursday morning - so it was a mess.
- cbtengranger (6/5): Travelodge Evanston Wyoming - Travelodge Evanston Wyoming has the most helpful and friendly staff I’ve come across. This is an older motel but the rooms are kept clean and beds are of good quality. The price was best in Evanston Wyoming.
