- Shelby (3/5): Pretty but overall very unwelcoming. - The aesthetic was great but staffing was terrible. Called and asked for early check in and was told they can’t even see if possible without adding a fee. Told them I’d grab lunch and come back and still had to call and wait after 3pm to be checked in and the rules seemed a little over the top. For example, you need to wash your dishes if you use them and no towels to be used for wiping the floors and will be charged if stained. The towels were very cheap and already stained. The front office was a mess and the shower leaked. The heater didn’t work and the room was freezing. The hotel was very pretty but very uncomfortable to use anything will not stay again. The only think I didn't like upon checking in although staff was friendly the front office was very less to be desired..very old looking ; lots of junk and boxes laying around behind the front desk in the room behind the front desk for guest who are checking in to see. The front desk checking area was dumpy looking & made me nervous to see our room but luckily our room was fine. The checkin area in the front desk area needs to be cleaned up big time. It's a bit of an eyesore for sure. Other than that no other complaints.

- Brian (8/5): Cozy, clean and relaxing. - While my fiance and I had a short stay due to some time constraints, we did enjoy ourselves. The staff left us the key in the room since we ended up arriving very late and left the little fireplace on for us. The room was very clean and the jacuzzi tub was so nice to use. The bed was comfortable and the room itself was well equipped. I just wish we had more time to stay, and we will definitely be back! Maybe some waters in the fridge would be my only complaint.

That was a wasted upgrade in price. Kitchenette layout was not well done or very useable. Just used fridge, microwave and coffee pot, and had to rearrange to do that. Office hours were limited.

- Gerald (8/5): A last minute overnight that worked out great.not east to find a place for one night in Lake George - Pool, hot tub, staff was helpful, room was well appointed, clean, lots of kayaks, and a sandy beach that was easily accessible, close to everything in Lake George. Very tight parking, property was narrow and difficult to navigate. The bathroom door was a sliding barn door. Not much privacy.
- Jerelyn (10/5): Rustic charm and a cozy couple getaway - The property was clean and bright. The rooms were decorated rustic, charm, and comfort. Everything looked new and well kept. The pool was cleaned every day and the flowers were gorgeous. The garbage was picked up and the staff were very nice. Honestly liked everything about it. If I had to say one thing, I would say the beach area is a little small, but there is a grassy area as well that has additional chairs and the kayaks and paddle boats being free are such a nice touch. So with a huge lake and places to go, the smaller beach area is fine.

- Susan (10/5): - I have been traveling to Lake George for years as I love the beauty and activities of this area. Normally hotel stays are ok and nothing really wows me. Most need updating. I stayed at the Sundowner and was so pleased with everything! The rooms are updated and are decorated like adorable log cabins inside. The room was spotless and spacious! The staff were friendly and accommodating. We had a small issue with air conditioning and they sent someone right away to fix it. Kima at reception desk and Jay Jay in property management really impressed me with their friendly demeanor and seemed interested in making sure we had a great time. Kayaks and paddleboards were free and other hotels charge a few. Will definitely be back again!! Great job done by the Sundowner team.
- Balog-Sartario (8/5): - The view was great from our room. The rooms were beautiful and cozy. A short walk to town and lots of good food and activities close by. I thought the pool area left little to be desired. Concrete was broken in a few spots, and not many lounge chairs available - 4 to be exact. It would be nice to have tea and coffee in the reception area for guests like some of the other resorts have. The beach on the lake is very small, which was disappointing.

At check in we were told we needed to move to 3 different rooms (we only stayed 4 nights) we are a family of 5 and had to pack our stuff in our car each day. This was the worst inconvenience and ruined our vacation. Lisa the manager was very rude, not understanding and would not compensate us anything. She ignored my text, I couldn’t talk to anyone but her, this business really needs to think about who their manager is and how to treat costumes. The pool area was dirty and the parking was horrible. I’m not really sure how a business can be ran like this. I will be take this to the location news. Robert Gregor has not heard the last from me.

It was a good find. - We weren’t too sure when we pulled in on this wintry snowy afternoon… But our room was fantastic… Room 122 was like a two room set up… A living room with a very well stocked kitchenette, and then a step up through some barn doors into a large king size room. It was spotless and comfortable and a good location. I do wish there had been a TV in the bedroom, there was a rainy snowy day, and we would’ve watched movies in there instead of on the uncomfortable futon and the other room.

- David (10/5): Pleasurable, period. - I’ve stayed here before and now it’s completely renovated and absolutely beautiful. Great cabin feel. Could hear the neighbors next door through the wall a bit because they were goofing around but they were quiet after 8pm, so not a huge deal.

The tv was in a weird place that hurt your neck looking up on that angle. The couch could've been more comfortable.

Additionally, the room was clean and well-stocked with supplies, which enhanced the overall experience. The room was cozy, but a few improvements could enhance the experience. The sliding bathroom door was quite loud, which could be addressed for better privacy. Additionally, adding some comfortable seating options in the room would provide a more inviting atmosphere. Lastly, including additional surfaces in the bathroom for personal items would greatly enhance convenience and usability.

- Collins (3/5): Poor - King suite was gorgeous, location was good, price SEEMED reasonable when booked. It was absolutely freezing! Office closed an hour after we checked in Friday evening and was closed all weekend. We cranked the split heating unit and electric fireplace but even though unit said 86° it was still bitterly cold and we had to wear multiple layers and use blankets to stay warm. We used the towels provided on the baseboards to cut the draft and my husband ran to Walmart at 9:30 and bought a space heater. This helped some. Next day no staff found on site at all. We bought ANOTHER space heater for the living and kitchen area. This made it bearable. We had to move the bedroom heater to the bathroom to shower. It was obvious that there was NO INSULATION and these rooms were not intended to be used in winter.
- Brian (2/5): - My experience at the Sundowner Hotel in Lake George was incredibly frustrating. I booked a room through Expedia and paid in full. After a grueling five-hour drive through a snowstorm—our first family trip with our baby—we arrived exhausted, only to be told the hotel never received payment from Expedia. The hotel would not give us a room unless we paid in full for the same amount i paid Expedia. So we were stranded in a snowstorm with a 6 month old and no other option but to pay for the room again. The manager’s ‘solution’ for me to get a refund was to suggest I tell Expedia I wanted to cancel my stay because I couldn’t make it. But, I didn’t purchase trip insurance, so Expedia wouldn’t refund me after numerous attempts. This left us stranded, stressed, and out of pocket for a room I had already paid for. It’s a real shame because the hotel itself was beautiful. The rooms were clean, the view was stunning, and everything else was lovely. I would have loved to recommend this place. Unfortunately, due to the unprofessionalism of management and the lack of proper communication with Expedia, I just can’t. Travelers deserve better reliability and service. I have been visiting Lake George since i was a child and this was my worst experience on the lake. Shame on the management of this hotel! UPDATE: When we arrived home we explained everything to Expedia. They refunded me in full.

- Silvia (6/5): Checkout is at 10, not 11! - Beautiful room with cosy decor. Our booking confirmation clearly said checkout was at 11, but at 10:15 a very angry cleaner was banging on our door telling us we were supposed to be out by 10. I showed them our confirmation that said 11, and they said Booking.com has the wrong checkout time and we should have been told at reception to be out by 10. No one was at reception when we checked in - our key had been left in our room instead. This was clearly a huge inconvenience for the cleaning staff so we had to rush out early. The property should really update the checkout time to 10 to avoid this.

The cabin decor of the room was authentic and newly done. It was very clean. The walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors. Unfortunately we had very loud and obnoxious people next store on our first night which was frustrating not just for us but for the people below . They didn’t stop their partying until 3am, The next night they were gone and we all slept much better.

- Katrina (8/5): - The property is located near the local shops and restaurants and other fun activities such as boat rides and cruises. It is waterfront which why we booked the place.They have a small sand area that has lake access.Kayak and paddle board with life vests are free.Most of the cabin has small kitchen.They have heated outdoor pool and outdoor seats. My cabin has 2 queen sized bed and 1 full bath and the half bath is helpful as well.I have a small kitchen, refrigerator and microwave. I only put 2 stars for cleanliness because honestly my cabin is not clean.I even took pictures of the mouse droppings inside the drawers where they keep utensils and cooking wares. I did not use them and bought utensils at the store. Overall, the location is great and will give this experience a 5 out of 10. I may or may not come back to this place.

- Caren (9/5): Lakeside hotel with big beautiful rooms & nice extras! - Location was good, on the quieter end of the hotel strip & on the water. Room was large and loved the local furniture & decor. We used the kayak & hot tub was great. Glad to have the refrigerator, & real glasses and dishes were a plus. Room noise from next door was a problem 1 night. (Would help if beds were postioned differently). Coffee maker was there, but would have preferred a keurig.

- Teresa (10/5): Best place we stayed in 2 weeks. - Beautiful room, much more than we expected. Private beach, free use of kayaks, paddle boards. A few steps to the lake. Lots of cool chairs, loungers. Plus a pool and hot tub. We got a 2 bedroom suite although we booked a king suite. Everything one could want to cook dinner, which we did.
- Christine (9/5): Updated cabins, very clean, excellent location, hot tub. - Excellent location in walking distance to restaurants and shops. Kayaks and paddle boards were available to use in One hour increments at no additional cost. When booking, some rooms have private grills on their patio. Our room was nice and big but didn’t have a private grill. There were 3 grills available by the beach but that was inconvenient for me. Just be aware of your needs.

- Kathleen (9/5): Beautiful room on the lake. - The rooms are nicely renovated with beautiful furniture and a comfortable bed. If you are familiar with Lake George, some of the motel rooms are in need of an update. This is not the case here. The room is beautiful. There was nothing I didn’t like, but I have one suggestion and that is to include a comfortable chair in the room. Our room had a king size bed, kitchenette and a high table with wooden stools. A cushioned chair would be a welcomed addition because it gives another place to sit.

- kevin (10/5): - We had a great experience at the Sundowner in lake George. It was right on the lake and the beach, dock, Kayaks and fire pit with a huge plus. the room was nicely decorated as a log cabin feel. Would definitely return.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Thin walls, uncomfortable bed, nice decor - Very thin walls could hear other rooms clearly, WiFi was very slow. Pillows on the bed were SOOO lumpy. Rooms were well decorated but apart from that not a lot to recommend about this place.

- Shelley (10/5): - The room was fabulous! Everything we could need and more! It provided a “ cabin by the lake” feeling! The decor was perfect, the little fireplace was great and the kitchenette was well stocked and made it nice yo not have to fight breakfast crowds because we could shop the night before and have breakfast in our room!
- Sheri (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms are absolutely beautiful!!! Very impressed with the cabin feel and coziness of it all. The only thing we didn't like was the rock hard bed, very uncomfortable.
