Guest Reviews
- Nathalie (10/5): - Paradise! We stayed twice for 3 days each time (we rebooked after our first stay).
We had an ocean view bungalow for each stay - we even had whale sightings on a couple of occasions!! The bungalow was perfectly rustic in tropical conditions - those expecting bug free, A/C perfectly clean rooms beware.
The bungalow was very comfortable with a ceiling fan - that with the open door/windows with ocean breeze we slept well! Location is remote/residential so we felt safe. Bedding and bed was comfortable. Friendly dogs at the property but at night they and the neighbourhood dogs could start their barking concerts - but we found that everywhere in FP with so many dogs. But no roosters around crowing in AM at least!
There was a small fridge in the bungalow, everything else kitchen related was in a communal kitchen. We made our coffee and cooked meals there (small place so we never had to wait).
There was a nice stony beach in front we explored - water shoes would have been safer than our flip flops! There is a sheltered spot in front for swimming/snorkeling. It was small but there was some nice fish and some coral - even an octopus!
Beautiful sunset and sunrise views!
- Oceane (2/5): LISEZ BIEN LE COMMENTAIRE !
- Joanne (10/5): - Our room is right on the beach, great bed with bug net over it. Rustic charm with ants and lizards inside so bring repellent
No coffee/ milk etc so bring all your own provisions -communal kitchen available .
- Cynthia (8/5): - Coming from the US just needed locks on windows. Property is beautiful. I enjoyed myself. The area is beautiful!
- John (4/5): - It’s a bit run down. Not super clean, no soaps etc provided. The beach was great as is the property itself. Just hasn’t had much up keep in years. If they invested a bit it could be really nice.
- ian (8/5): - The bungalow was very nice. The grounds are very nice. A separate communal fully equipped kitchen and dining area but nothing provided. Lovely swimming pool. There is a fridge, but no tea making facilities in unit. The best pizza just down the road we have ever tasted. Pity we did not have more days. This is a great place to chill out and relax.
- Mark (10/5): Private, beach front, simply amazing - Simply amazing, we had an Ocean View Bungalow for just the one night (if we had the time we would have loved to have stayed longer).
Private beach, swimming pool, comfortable bed and so private, we felt like we had the entire place to ourselves.
Highly recommend for couples or people like us who have spent weeks at sea and instead of staying overnight in Papeete on our Cruise Ship opted to rent a car and see the the real Tahiti. Loved it.
- NARDELLI (2/5): - Vraiment mal entre tenu
Ventilateur crasseux
Pas de lumière extérieure
Oreilles literie sale
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The grounds look amazing and well kept, but the rooms look nothing like the pictures. The sheets are piling and mismatched/thin, the ceiling has mold, the fans are broken. Staff not friendly. Best part: coconuts
- Todd (10/5): - I spent 8 nights at Punatea Village and I greatly enjoyed my stay. The owner was very kind and accommodating. He upgraded me to a bungalow for 6 of my 8 nights at no extra cost. The kitchen is very clean and comes with all the utensils you need for cooking. It has a communal refrigerator. The lounge eating area is covered. The grounds is well maintained , with numerous beautiful tropical plants and trees. There is a nice swimming area which is protected from the surf by a wall of boulders. There is a small, well-maintained swimming pool. The rooms are pleasant, without refrigerators, and with a well -maintained shared bathroom. The bungalows are very nice equipped with a refrigerator, ceiling fan, and a mosquito net, which you really don’t need. There are very few mosquitoes!
- Diana (10/5): Hidden gem - Husband and wife couple chose this place because we were winging it without confirmed plans. Yikes. However this place was one of the only affordable places left and we booked it.
We were so happy with the little resort. It's rustic, cozy, relaxed, Beach side, free onsite water toys like kayaks. A real easy experience. The host was super chill and helpful. Free communical kitchen for wine openers, morning coffee, appliances worked, decor was very local. If you like small hidden gems, this is it!
We would certainly book it again.
- Chip (10/5): - The property is right on the beach, 100m away from a Magasin (dairy) and only 4km away from the small town of Taravao. Kitchen facilities and complimentary tea and coffee are great. Very clean and the fan in my room was great for keeping the temperature down. Hands down the best value for money on my ten day trip.
Note:- The welcoming dog is a bit loud but he's on a chain and it is completely safe. He calms down after a few times walking past.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Punatea Village is nicely located at the ocean. Unfortunately the bungalows are very outdated and in need of repair. The bungalows only have a fridge but no kitchen. There is a communal kitchen which makes the whole place feel like a hostel. We were very unlucky with torrential rain for the full two days that we stayed here in late April 2019. The owner is very friendly and speaks a little English.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is remote which is nice if you like that kind of thing. Very pleasant stay and low key. It is a distance from the airport and not much to eat around. If staying longer, they have a nice kitchen to prepare meals, which I would have done if staying longer The property does show some wear and tear, but the overall atmosphere and experience were very enjoyable. You can't beat the location right on the shore with windows open to hear the surf.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Buetiful location - Could be improoved with Air Conditioning & TV
- Verified traveler (8/5): great hotel for a privacy getaway - My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Punatea Village. Our cabin was close to the beach, so we had the sound of the surf to put us to sleep at night. The hotel is on the windward side of Tahiti iti, which gave us active surf and a cool breeze all day and evening. The best part of our stay was that it is far from the expense and crush of the "tourist" destinations. The only major drawback was the lack of restaurants in the area, so we made do cooking ourselves
The people are friendly and helpful, but it helps to speak a little French, though we managed without it. If you wish to be pampered, this it not a location you would like, but if you are coming to mingle with the locals and enjoy quiet and relaxation, Punatea Village is a good place to spend a week or two. You can always drive back to Papeete if you want a more active (expensive) experience, but know that the traffic on Tahiti is a challenge.
- Veronica (4/5): Totally misleading - Booking was deceiving because it claimed "airport shuttle" and did not mention it wasn't free. Upon pickup I was shocked to discover "a surcharge" and they were so rude about it and would not negotiate splitting the HIDDEN fee. Since I had nowhere else to go, I bit my tongue and covered the charge but also reported it to my bank for a full refund. While the property IS beautiful and authentic Tahitian, and the room comfortable, it was SHABBY and the staff could not be more discourteous and the website also neglected to mention that the BATHROOM IS SHARED with everyone pretty much. Ugh.
- vince (8/5): Nice hotel, simple furniture, very quiet.. - Good to be alone, no noise, no shops nearby, very far from the capital, but it served my intention.
- Tom (2/5): Isolated and hard to find - Rented car at airport.,at 1145pm. no one ever heard of the place, so got lost.Had a flat tire. Returned rental car.Hired taxi at 120.00 one way. Taxi had hard time finding.Stayed several hours, but was so miserable ,owner arranged for a shuttle back to airport at 70.00. Ended up costing me an additional 295.00 just to find and get the heck out of Punatea Village. and at that point I had no place to stay for my week vacation.
