Guest Reviews
- Gavin (10/5): - A lovely host with a lovely bar. Great selection of drinks and sorted any questions we had promptly
- Andrew (4/5): - Decent. Shower and toilet made a very loud noise when used tho.
Room was ridiculously hot and no air con.
Friendly staff, nice decor.
- Sarah (8/5): - Great entertainment in the bar downstairs
- thomas (10/5): COMFORTABLE - Nice room , yes I could hear some noise from pub below, during a cup final match, but it was not a problem and did not stop sleeping and watching tv.I will stay again which says it all really .
- Sam (10/5): - Lovely
- terry (8/5): - I stopped for the weekend there is a bus stop 20 meters from the door so anywhere is reachable
- Gilliane (8/5): Emergency booking - very comfortable stay. - Host was very welcoming. Despite running a busy pub, she happily answered any requests.
- James (10/5): - Really good stay, comfortable and a good location, pub downstairs is very welcoming
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid unless you’re deaf. - Racket from over-amplified pub singers with backing tracks and shouted conversations booming up from the bar directly below my room made it impossible to sleep, watch TV, read or anything else before 1am when the last drinkers leave. I paid for 7 nights. I left after 4 very broken, tortured nights. Shame because the bed was comfortable and the decor nice enough. Bar staff very nice but powerless to do anything about the noise. The accommodation simply doesn’t work.
- Pamela (10/5): perfect stay with my man - really good service and attention to detail, room clean and all needed in house .
- Cameron (2/5): Loudest room in the World!!! - As the room was above the pub there was a bit of noise expected. What we didn't expect was karaoke that was so loud it was shaking the bed. This continued until midnight and even though the TV was at its loudest it couldn't drown out the cacophony of noise. Other than this the room was not the cleanest. But really would never stay again and also caution any who do that they should stay out until after midnight!!
- Kevin (8/5): Another potential gem, with some rough edges... - It has all the ingredients to be a fancy boutique hotel, but small snagging issues abound. Location looks iffy on Google maps, but only a 10 minute walk to Lee Station, and then half an hour to Charing Cross. Radiator was lovely and hot, but can't be turned down or off, so had to sleep with the window open. The "power shower" is pathetic. No shower gel. Random bit of tissue was found. The macerator toilet setup is no good, and appears to be plumbed into the shower waste. Towels were fluffy, but too small, and not absorbant. It really just needs the owner of the hotel to spend a night in one of their rooms to sort these things. Too many cushions. No bin in toilet.
- Gareth (10/5): - This property was fantastic, not what you expect for a room above a pub. The room was spacious, warm and the bed was unbelievably comfortable! Overall the space was great.
Will definitely be back for a weekend getaway or something.
- Lyris (10/5): - Only stayed one night but room was clean and comfortable and staff were friendly and helpful. Didn’t get a chance to eat or drink in the pub but will do next time we stay.
- Ai Ling (8/5): - Good for short stay in Lee
- Terry (10/5): Warm and tastefully decorated room above a friendl - Warm and tastefully decorated room above a friendly pub in South East London. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Good shower. Lovely staff (and great beer) in the pub. Excellent cafe for breakfast and lunch a couple of doors away. I will stay again.
- Wayne (10/5): - All perfect
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice room - Lovely pub to stay in, room nicely decorated and a good size. Only problem was there was no shower gel and shampoo in the dispenser (luckily I had a small bottle in my bag) and there was no milk with the tea and coffee. But I would still recommend as it was a nice room to stay in.
- Catherine (10/5): - A very comfortable nights sleep in a lovely room!
- Sarah (8/5): - Friendly staff, made to feel welcomed.Clean spacious room.
- Prince (10/5): - It was clean and nice thank you for the hospitality
- Oluwatosin (10/5): - Comfortably suitable for my needs.
- James (2/5): nothing like the images at all! - We booked this break in January as an extra few days away after a family wedding. As we had our vehicle we needed something with parking and outside the city centre.
This hotel does NOT have free onsite parking, the only parking is on the road.
The room we stayed in was nothing like the images at all!!! It was so bad we were offered a full refund which hasn't arrived.a.week after promised!
There was a kitchen with no cutlery or crockery other than 2 tea spoons and 2 odd mugs. The fridge froze anything that was placed in ther and there was no milk or brew making items other than a few tea bags. So we had to buy milk etc.
The sheet did not fit the bed and we both woke up on the bare mattress!
There was tape over the old light fittings in the ceiling, the windows were extremely old, cracked and had bits of tissue paper stuffed in the corners.
The boiler and water tank for the whole building was in our room and there was a delightful balcony with what I assume was some sort of large ventilation system, all of these were extremely noisy and kept us awake!
Half a toilet roll to last 3 days which isn't great as a woman especially when you have your period! No shower gel or hand soap either, no floor mat in the bathroom and a toilet seat that was broken.
The public transport takes over 40 minutes to get to tower bridge London and an Uber/taxi is about 30.
We do NOT recommend this hotel at all
- Tamara (6/5): - Few issues they need to sort out, broken window, hair in plug hole, flickering light. Very noisy on the Saturday night with music playing in the pub till at least 12:30/1am! Couldn’t sleep.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful - The room looked nothing like the picture shown, the bed was a double not kingsize as stated. Bits of tiles in bathroom chipped. I had to pick up some rubbish off the bathroom floor. No toilet roll. Full size fridge in the room was a bit random, it was dirty inside. Sheets on the bed were dirty. (we slept on the top of the bed).Ceiling fan made alot of noise and you couldn't have it in without the light on. No one about when we checked out. The parking was on the street outside some houses, so we had to park right at the bottom of the road.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very good hotel! - Bed was a little small and shower took a while to drain but apart from that it was all good. Staff were really nice and location was brilliant
- Chris (6/5): Thought it would be better - The accommodation is tired and poor. Paintwork chipped, shower leaked. T.V could not work. Very limited food menu. The people that worked in the bar were super though. Thanks Nicki.
- Deborah (4/5): Not what is advertised - First impressions good nice welcome got into the room no towels no loo roll and a half drank juice and a pizza in the fridge
Cooking facility dirty pans but no utensils
Towels and loo rolls rectified
We went out till late when got back we pulled the duvet back no bottom sheet on the bed ?
No contact numbers no one around
Did not look like the pics on Hotels. Com
Came back in the evening to a fire door jammed open removed what was stopping it shutting
But it was back there again the next morning
Milk to make a drink already OFF
And let’s finish with the trip wire on the way out
Please see pics attached and make up your own mind. such a shame ☹️ lack care
- Verified traveler (2/5): No onsite parking - Booked due to claim on onsite parking due to accessibility needs. There was NO onsite parking
- Nicola (2/5): Worst b an b ever stayed in should not be allowed. - Very shocked to see the state of the room when from outside looked ok first thing noticed was holes in the door and frame and bent lock wardrobe doors wouldnt open or close as hanging off the tracks so couldnt use them electic sockets were hanging off the walls and could be moved and wires were exposed holes in walls bathroom door didnt shut but had over 20 rusty nails hanging out totally thick dust wrote my name in it the walls were all mucky and dusty and fire saftety was disgusting shocking sprinkler rammed with toilet roll so wouldnt pick up any fire till too late.
- Chris (8/5): - Slightly odd stay as previous reviews put me on guard as the rooms aren’t managed by the pub who just give you the keys and tell you how to access the rooms above via stairs out back.
Pub staff were friendly and welcoming - offered to put the pizza oven on specially then said that they only had enough dough for a small pizza but I was welcome to pop out and bring something back - they’d provide a plate. Really nice people.
The downside were the two regulars sitting with the staff who were clearly very pally and seemed to have the run of the place. They weren’t nasty in any way but when every other word is ‘f*ck’ and it’s used as a punctuation point it just gets really weary. A family left halfway through their drinks presumably because these regular punters didn’t care. Sad really.
Otherwise I’d recommend it - room was fine, a good price, plenty of outlets and a curry house close by and not far from the station.
Just curb the shitemouths
- Bill (8/5): Nice place - Good place to stay with good travel connections
- Karen (10/5): - Fantastic host. Easy check in and out. Lovely friendly landlady and locals! Easy to get in and out of London. Free parking outside pub. Lots of great restaurants nearby. Great for O2 or exploring London. Walking distance to Blackheath
- sunday (8/5): Good enough - Very good
Only that the double bed is quite small
- Aromeo (4/5): - There wasn’t any shower gels or shampoo in our room, and the room was very dusty, while the noise from downstairs was a little bit too loud. We was shown our room and had to via the pub and was not shown how to get in or out without going through the pub. We didn’t stay the night we left and find somewhere else to stay Sadly.
- Spencer (2/5): - Terrible service
- Mike (2/5): Don’t go - Unfortunately the stay was cancelled when my partner turned up to the hotel (I had booked it as he was working away) The person in charge told him that the money would be refunded and still hasn’t been paid back. Tried several times and then the woman we were dealing with has now left the company. She did find another hotel but he had to pay another £100 to stay in that one.
Wouldn’t recommend.
- Melanie (10/5): Definite thumbs up, great place to stay :-) - What a fantastic place to stay! Easy to find, extremely welcoming and friendly staff, lovely room with little touches (different types of pillows, firm, soft, feather), comfortable bed, beautifully clean and pride from the staff that they work there :-) (whoever is responsible for the hanging baskets outside deserve credit too! I have petunia envy!!)
It is located on a main road and the rooms are above a pub so if you’re an early to bed person then it’s probably not for you, however my friend and I loved the welcome we received from local residents and as 2 women travelling together felt completely safe joining them all in the great pub downstairs.
We feel we’ve found a great base for future trips to London as there’s a bus stop outside with a frequent service to a mainline station that gets you to Waterloo in 20 minutes. A fantastic cafe that has a vast menu, reasonable prices and great coffee just outside (turn left) meant breakfast was pretty much on the doorstep too.
All in all I’m glad we looked outside the centre of London for our weekend away, and are already planning on returning:-)
- Verified traveler (8/5): london trip - clean and tidy , no frills .
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible experience, waste of time and money - I did not even check in successfully. The hotels.com shows check in time is 2pm. But I arrived at the pub at noon, and waited till 5pm. Still no body showed up to help check in.
I have to cancel it and find another place at 5pm, in last minute. It was desperate.
Meanwhile, hotels.com is not helpful to solve the problem, such as reimbursing the paid fees. Because hotels.com staff could not find the owner either. The staff emailed me to call the summerfield pub and boutique rooms myself to sort reimbursement out. Are you joking?
- Patrick (2/5): Summerfield became Winterfield disaster - The advertised Parking was only in a congested road nearby. The accomodation was well below par with a broken toilet seat, paintwork was poor, heati NJ G was not noticeable, the noise from the pub went on till 12.30 am!
The smell of smoke in this non smoking area at the foot of the stairs was obvious. The whole experience wasfeay below the standard Hotel group displayed. I honestly believe the information was not sought after by Hotel group. The food advertised was only available in Pizza form!!
I would have sought some be explanation of the hotel's claims but my wife could no ot wait to leave!
I would not advise anyone to use this below par establishment.
I would appreciate a refund on my outlay as it was certainly no pleasure to stay there.
- Adam (6/5): - The Hotel is in need of repair the only heating is provided by electric radiators which are not energy efficient. The room was not very clean and there was a ceiling fan that particularly needed attention. The Hotel was booked as it said there was parking available however this turned out to be on the street outside!
- Alexander (8/5): Great service, noisy pub though - A comfortable inn with cozy rooms above a pub. Unfortunately the pub was quite noisy below but it didn’t really bother my partner and I.
Service was excellent and definitely made our stay better.
- David (2/5): Room booking not honoured. - Arrived at hotel only to find our room had been given to someone else with a long term booking, apparently. The receptionist said Hotels.com had been informed and should have contacted me. They hadn't nor have I any reason to believe the story. Unable to contact Hotels.com Customer Service. so had to book another room at another hotel. Conatcted customer service by Twitter and the matter remaains unresolved.
- Martin (10/5): Nice - Ideal stopover for work
- Martin (10/5): Nice place - Perfect when working locally
- Verified traveler (10/5): Dexent - Decent stay. Ticked all the boxes
- R P (6/5): Standards slipping - I will put this trip down to Covid.
I have stayed in this pub a number of times over the years as I come to the area for business. I have never had a problem there.
This time it felt like I wasn't even expected. My room wasn't made up and I was given a room with two single beds, despite booking a double. The (helpful) girl couldn't remake the bed into a double because the housekeeping cupboard was locked and there was no key...
- paul (10/5): - Very clean and helpful staff
- SueR (10/5): - Fab hotel, very clean and staff were really friendly and helpful. We will definitely be staying again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The bathroom was fine ,but otherwise we wouldn't recommend this place at all .the description said a king size bed ,but it was only a double and little room in the bedroom .extremely noisy ,but that's to be expected .noisy guests in other rooms too ,so certainly not a place to stay if you want to sleep .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It’s a pub with rooms. Bit lively, but none the less friendly and uninhibiting. The room we nicely decorated, spacious and clean. The en-suite was a cupboard with shower and loo - not the en-suite with bath as stated in my booking. The towels were clean and soft. The bed was a queen size, soft mattress with feather duvet, nice none feather pillows. Check out involved just leaving the room. All in all above average - but nothing fantastic. Great for a night. Free street parking - always a plus.
- Christopher (2/5): Never stay at this dirty place called a boutique! - I don't write many reviews, but felt this required one!
This has to be one of the worst hotels i have stayed in.
The room was dirty, tired and old which requires total modernization. The sliding sash window rattled (albeit due to high winds) until I wedged a place-mat in the frame.
Although the bedding appeared to be clean, there was blood stains on 1 of the pillows, not what you expect in any hotel!!!
The only thing that was OK was the friendly person serving behind the bar who checked me in.
The image portrayed on the website is nothing like the room i stayed in!!!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Generally clean. No Kingsize bed, no bath, uncovered boiler in room, draughty, and shabby finished rooms.
Does for a place to sleep, not exactly much else.
Advised of 10:30am checkout not 11am as advertised.
- Stanley (6/5): - THE BED BROKE DUE TO AN INSUFFICENT REPAIR IN THE PAST... THE TOILET DID NOT FLUSH
- Peter (10/5): Not to be missed ! - Not the first time I’ve stayed here absolutely perfect from the price to facilities and most of all cleanliness, highly recommend this accommodation
