Guest Reviews
- kyra (8/5): -
- David (7/5): Friendly and accommodating management - Friendly owners, reasonably clean and in good condition
- Swenson-Lutes (8/5): - Location was great and the people were great. Did not like the bed or pillows. The bed was to tall and soft and the pillow was to hard.
- Heard (8/5): Ok - Another person staying at the facility parked so that I couldn't park close to my door - the only complaint See above
- Pietro (10/5): -
- Lynne (4/5): Never again - Price and location Dirty.
- Paul (8/5): - As is often the case, this inexpensive motel seems a bit shabby from the parking lot: peeling paint on the balconies etc.
However, I give the place a very good rating because inside the room where it counts, it was clean, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless, the bed comfortable, and everything worked properly. Wifi was excellent. The exterior is in need of some work.
- Bobbie (10/5): -
- Stephen (5/5): - The bed was comfortable
The shower was good The light fixture in the toilet area was out.
The toilet was loose and clogged
- David (8/5): -
- Janet (3/5): - Room needed to be cleaned and some updates would make it more comfortable
- Sharon (1/5): -
- David (6/5): - Great staff very friendly. Cute property but older. Clean.
- Susan (10/5): - Kind, friendly, quiet, close to the historic part of town.
- Willow (8/5): - Good location, comfortable bed, nice blankets
- Keonan (8/5): It's our favorite in Silver City. Staff is very nice. - The motel is typical of the original motels on Route 66.
It is upgraded but still has the charm. The restaurant had to close during Covid and never reopened. It was great.
- Dorothy (8/5): The owners make this motel very special - The owners were wonderful and so helpful and friendly. We were in a queen suite which was spacious and comfortable. And the owners even brought us a table and chairs so we could work on our computers. We were there for a whole week visiting our granddaughter. We were not used to staying in a motel so that was a little uncomfortable for us. But it was okay. Also the laundry area was not open in the evenings or the early mornings.
- DeShawn (8/5): Worth the cost - Great place Quiet can sleep 😴
- Stephen (8/5): -
- Jerry (6/5): - Like that it was pet and smoke free. The little couple that own/manage the place were so cute and very pleasant.
The room only had 1 working outlet which was ridiculous! It does look like they are trying to upgrade in some areas. There were a bunch of very large trucks in the parking lot that made it difficult to drive around. Exterior needs work as well. Probably would not stay there again.
- Alfred (2/5): - Sadly, this motel has seen better days. It's in a rather frightful state of disrepair. Managers are nice people, but this just isn't up to even the lowest standards. Needs fundamental repairs and a refresh badly.
- Janine (6/5): Good except for poor AC - Handy location, felt safe. Manager friendly. Comfortable king bed (but TINY room!). AC was unacceptable, barely cooled to 70 degrees overnight!
- Anastasia Naryshkina (1/5): Bed bugs! Had to run from the place in the middle of the night to another hotel! No compensation - Looked decent on the pictures here for this medium priced hotel. I would give a "minus" rating if I could! The room was not very clean and very smelly, definitely someone smoked in it before, the floor was very dirty. But the real and the worst problem were the bed bugs!!! When we went to bed all of us got bitten including my daughter. Had to run out of this place at midnight and find a new hotel room for the night! The lobby was already closed at that time so we couldn't talk to anyone so the next morning I wrote them a message.
The hotel didn't respond to my message and I had no compensation at all. Same with Booking app service, they opened the dispute case but I still had no compensation or even a simple apology from them!
Stay away from this hotel and be aware that Booking will not be helpful in such situations.
- Kenneth (8/5): Great stay. - Lee was great and was very helpful. Na
- Douglas (10/5): This is the perfect place to stay if you are just traveling through Anita need a place to sleep. If you plan on staying - Probably one of the cleanest and most well-maintained places I have stayed. The room was extremely small with no closet or place to put clothes. For our purposes, however, all we needed was a place to sleep, and it was fantastic.
- Jane (10/5): Clean, comfortable and inexpensive. - It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The person at the front desk was concerned about my hair color (pink) staying the shower curtain. She was very nice about asking me to be careful but….awkward and no necessary since I hadn’t planned on washing my hair for the one night I was there.
- Shawn (8/5): Very good - There was no breakfast
- Castillo (4/5): Disappointing -
- Corry (7/5): Good -
- Joan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cathy (4/5): - Property is old and dingy. We should have gone to motel 6. That would have been a better choice.
- Don (10/5): Exceptional -
- olga (8/5): - This hotel was very nice and was very friendly accommodated us with anything we needed. It does need an upgrade, but it was otherwise it was right for us.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice people running it.
No working ice machine available.
- Anthony (8/5): Convenient and loves the owner couple.they even washed our motorcycle towels for us daily - Classic feel. A bit dated but cool place. N/A
- Melissa (1/5): Bad - Nothing it was the worst place we have ever stayed Walking from the bed to the bathroom, our feet turned black.
- GraceR11112 (2/5): Disgusting place and staff - This place is DISGUSTING. Staff is just as disgusting with their attitude. Rooms are dirty and the place is noisy as it's infront of the highway.
They house people here too.
Don't know how this place is in business and how it hasn't been inspected.
- Verified traveler (2/5): SKIP FOR SURE. NOT WORTH THE MONEY - Dirty. Found old food on the floor next to the table. We also found cockroaches. We were too tired to ask for another room. The room had an OVERWHELMING smell of freshner. This motel is soooooo NOT worth the money.
- Eric (10/5): - The only issue was lack of parking.
- Arvind (2/5): - I was taking shower and the water went, which was terrible.
- Benedikte (3/5): No water pressure - Very clean and close to the city No water pressure so basically impossible to take a shower. And very expensive.
- Gord (5/5): Passable -
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Linda (3/5): Poor - I skipped breakfast. No convenient place to grab coffee. The place is seedy and quarters tight. No ice machine.
- Sarah (10/5): - Very friendly front desk staff. Clean rooms. Quiet area.
- Connie (8/5): - The motel is very old so could use a face lift. But it has everything you need and feels safe. Perfectly fine for a one nighter.
- Ruben (8/5): - Clean room, AC worked and across from Dennys
- Panzlau (8/5): Very good -
- Sanchez (7/5): Weekend Trip - Friendly couple working the desk. Room was clean. Beds/sheets were clean but bed was a bit uncomfortable. Shower felt a bit claustrophobic. They need the shower rod that’s curved to feel a bit more spacious as you shower. Overall not a bad experience.
- Bobbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Teresa (3/5): Poor - The owner of the property was extremely rude and made me feel uncomfortable
- Barris (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (9/5): A good experience, would definitely stay again. - Our room was clean and we had what we needed. The owners have put money into updating the rooms—tile floors, nice furniture, tiled bathroom. Would definitely stay here again. Took the dog for a walk around the back of the motel. Not the best neighborhood—lots of empty vodka bottles on the street behind but that’s not the motel’s fault. There’s just not really anywhere to walk your dog.
- Knechtel (10/5): Will book at the Drifter in the future no matter what. They're kind, professional and accommodatin. - I had come into town for a wedding. I booked with a different hotel to save a few bucks and it did not work out. They were able to get us into our room the following morning so we could shower and get ready for the day. I usually stay here and will continue to do so. It's worth the extra $30.00. Lesson learned! The only thing I didn't like was how tiny the bathroom was, but other than that, it had everything we needed.
- Joel (10/5): - Friendly staff and a clean comfortable room. A nice place to say.
- Laura (10/5): - The manager was friendly and hospitable. Gave us bottled water after we signed in and a few snacks.
Hotel was within reasonable driving distance to down town.
Will stay there again.
- Brenda (10/5): I enjoyed this place. I would stay again. - owner was real friendly and very helpful.
- Alicia (9/5): Enjoyable stay! - The folks in the office were very nice. It's a bummer that the restaurant was closed, but it's okay. I get it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Exactly what it looks like - ‘Vintage’ without trying too hard.
No frills. Simple sleep and lodging.
Loved the eclectic room furnishings and decor.
This place is exactly what it looks like from the outside.
A portal back to simpler times. Enjoy your stay.
- Jafari (8/5): Very good -
- Kristin (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (10/5): - Spartan but clean. Very comfortable bed. Best price in town
- Paul (10/5): - It looks a little rough on the outside, but the room is really comfortable. The bed is awesome, much better than you expect from a motel. Wifi works great. And the couple who run it are very sweet.
- Alien (9/5): Superb -
- Kathleen (8/5): Very good -
- Martha (10/5): - I was very satisfied with stay. The room & especially the bathroom were upgraded and very nice. Owner very friendly and helpful. Close to historic area of town.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Gonzales (8/5): Very good -
- Ruth (8/5): Very good -
- Katherine (8/5): - Friendly staff, felt welcomed on checkin. Room was dominated by a king sized bed which, while comfortable with new, clean bedding, left very little space to move around let alone do yoga. New tiles in bathroom but the floor and lower walls throughout were horribly dirty. Door had a broken security lock. Other hotel guests/residents were noisy. There was a lot of coming and going in the night as well as highway noise and sirens. Property has rather unkempt exterior surroundings and though the sign loudly proclaims Restaurant it is disappointingly closed. Bananas and water were available in the office at checkin to off set this.
- Charles (10/5): - Clean, affordable
- Joy (6/5): Decent budget Motel - The room was small, but very clean. The outside property is a little run down with weeds and not well kept up. We had a dog and had to go behind the motel to find an area for our dog to relieve himself. Also the pictures that our shown our old and need to be updated.
- David (8/5): - Nothing special just a good place to stay, I been staying there every time I go to Silver City.
- Lana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (6/5): Pleasant - Clean room friendly owner. Right near old downtown areas and shops. On busy road but you didn't hear the traffic. I paid a high price, normally I'd look around for a more budget friendly room, but most were sold out. $100 ( with tax) was a bit steep, $60 or $70 would of been worth it.
- anthony (4/5): - After our first day, there was no cleaning or re-stocking the items we used.
- Michelle (8/5): I would not stay there again - Convenience. Room was very outdated. Curtains was just two pieces of material. Could not reach the shower head to adjust it. The entire complex is outdated and needs a lot of work.
The air conditioner barely worked and blew the air down instead of into the room.
- Marie (5/5): Deceptive - Our room was nicely remodeled. I'll give them that. German cockroach 🪳 we're found in our room. We never got room accommodations for trash, clean towels or bed and the bathtub had an extremely slow drain. NEVER AGAIN!
- Bob (3/5): Would not choose Drifter again - Tv Canceled ahead —BUT NO REFUNDS !
- Ted (5/5): It was satifactory for we were there two nites - Clean, Comfortable, Beds King, with walking distance .5-1 mile away from Historic part of town. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Pillows were a little hard for me, Room was tight with the king bed.
- Lorenzo (9/5): Superb -
- Adelina (4/5): Disappointing - Price was cheap you get what you pay for. No change of towels unless you pay extra. All of the hotels I've stayed in always changed your towels added toilet paper etc. Here none of that. We bought toilet paper we were there 4 nights. Very small room and bathroom so small you could barely move plus no fan in bathroom. No one took out trash in room. Somewhat clean.. toilet was still dirty from bottom of side and back. We will not stay there again. The fact that you shouldn't have to ask for clean towels or toilet paper. And trash wasn't taken out. Too small of a room I kept bumping my knee at the end of the bed too crowded. Ok for passing thru for a night to stay but that's about it.
- Miles (4/5): - Cleanliness was good, but the toilet was not anchored to the floor very well, water pressure was poor in the shower and hot water was almost non existent.
- Oquinn (9/5): Superb -
- Theodore (9/5): Superb - The rooms were clean and comfortable.
- Bobbie (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, have stayed many times. This time, it was a remodeled room with updated items. No complaints.
- Robin (7/5): Not fancy but comfortable and met our needs. - The location fit our needs and was easy to find. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The AC worked well, there was a desk for working, free wifi, a good tv and the shower worked well. No frills. A little musty smell but overall a good value. The exterior looks a little run down but it appears that the management is doing its best to update it.
- Gonzalez (3/5): Part apartment complex - It had comfortable beds. The AC didn't work well. It is also an apartment complex, and he people that live there are rude.
- Micheal (10/5): Exceptional - The owners who greeted me in the office were so kind!!
- Roy (10/5): Solid moderately-priced property in Silver City - Reasonable rates, great location in a fascinating and historic small city.
Compact but clean room with all modern features.
Ample parking and plenty of shopping and dining options nearby.
Friendly, professional and efficient desk staff. Property and upkeep are above criticism, but the property is a bit older, a quality I appreciate. Nevertheless, those who prefer gloss, gleam, and extremely spacious guest rooms might be more suitably accommodated elsewhere.
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Jason (10/5): - Too hot for camping, so this place was like a friendly oasis.
- Larry (6/5): It was ok but I won't stay there again. - I've stayed here before and like the location. There's a Denny's across the street which was convenient. Had a problem with the AC unit. Only way it would run is with the light switch turned on. Was a warm evening.
- Miranda (9/5): Superb -
- Barbara (7/5): Good - Updated bathroom. Friendly staff and tentative.
- Andrea (8/5): Very clean. Owner was super nice. -
- Brian (8/5): - Staff was friendly, parking was good, mattress was comfortable (Not firm)
- Douglas (8/5): - Quaint
- Yesenia (5/5): Good location, but dirty. - Location, bathroom was well- stocked, enough sheets/blankets It was dirty. No deep cleaning done in ANY area. It needs upgrades. Felt muggy in the bedroom.
- Anthony (6/5): - Our stay here was average. The room shown on the web is nothing like the room we stayed in. The walls could use a coat of paint. Thinks where pretty run down.
