• Birch (10/5): - The ocean view at the resturant is amazing and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious and clean, we enjoyed everything about our stay and would happily come again.
• Jean (10/5): - Older rooms but everything needed was provided including extra bedding, heating and fan and very clean and comfortable. Fridge made noises but turning it off was all it needed. The walls could be sound proofed. The man next door snored all night! Breakfast was very good. Wine had a big mark up price. Take your own! Receptionist was friendly and helpful.
• Suzette (8/5): - The location was centrally located on Brier Island. The check-in staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was as advertised. We had dinner on the property. My husband's meal was not the proper temperature. The server walked to the kitchen and then returned the plate to the table. The food had not been heated. When the plate was returned the 2nd time, it was extremely hot. The breakfast server and meal were great.

• Janet (10/5): - The property location is wonderful: on a hill in the small remote Village of Westport on Briar Island. The facilities are basic, clean and comfortable. The food is very good and staff is very helpful and friendly. The location is incredible, with scenic beauty!

Our room on the other hand was disappointing, considering it was one of the most expensive places we stayed at in Nova Scotia. No clock radio or TV or even a box of Kleenex. Very basic. It would have been nice to have a few chairs to sit on outside our unit. Another thing that bothered us is when we paid for the room there was a tip option on the card reader. Never had that before! A $50 tip on a room that was below par. Come on!

• Merrie (10/5): - The location and views are outstanding! The rooms have a separate seating area and an outdoor patio facing the bay. The restaurant was fabulous and they are well informed about celiac disease and food allergies.
• Sean (10/5): Island sunsets - This was my second stay here, 16 years apart. The lodge is up above the town, easy to get to from the ferry if you're driving (or in my case bicycling). Room was basic, but clean and it was very nice to be able to open the second door leading directly outside for catching the breeze. Onsite restaurant was tasty and even without reservations, the hostess was able to seat me. Hoping it won't be another 16 years before my next visit.

• Christopher (8/5): - Decent rooms, convenient location, very nice staff. Not all rooms have TVs, some have A/C others have fans provided. Have stayed twice and both times haven’t been dissatisfied. Only thing I’d warn you about is the breakfast at the on site restaurant is not great and it’s a bit expensive for what it is. It’s the only breakfast option on the island so be prepared.
• Q9291YUkathleenr (4/5): Average. WAY over priced. - WAYYYYYYYYYYY overpriced! I guess they can do this as they are really the only motel on the island. Had to pay for the 'apartment' as that the only thing left (my fault didn't think ahead that it was memorial day weekend) But the front desk gal was snippy and the apt was just OK. For the price i paid it should have been spectacular.

• Noella (4/5): - No phone, no tv, shower with either cold or scalding water-had to keep turning it off and on. Had to run tub for kids so they wouldn’t burn themselves in shower. Beds only passable-lumpy. Common rooms good and restaurant was ok. Shortage of staff it seemed.
• Paul (10/5): - Needed a place to crash for a music festival. This fit the bill. Log panelling but no tv. Why would you want to watch tv when whales are frequently seen in the channel offshore? The lodge is positioned up on a hill overlooking the channel and the bays of Fundy and St Mary’s beyond. The restaurant has great food. Be aware that Briar Island has fog more often than not.

• Heather (6/5): - The Lodge has obviously been newly upgraded and looks good. The bathroom door didn't close properly and there was only one roll of toilet paper. Luckily we didn't need more! The tap in the sink was dirty, only the handle had been wiped. There were no cups/mugs for the coffee/tea that was available in the room, and no creamers had we been able to make some. The restaurant was nice, the service was very good too.

• Rachel (10/5): - Our stay was wonderful! We chose Brier Island Lodge for our stay as we had an early whale watching tour (which was phenomenal) and the lodge exceeded our expectations. Staff were friendly and accommodating, dining on site is a bonus and the rooms were clean and quaint. We were able to leave the island with a sense of peace and a desire to go back.

• 216lauriet (10/5): Above and beyond our expectations! - Well, I have been procrastinating as usual and not getting word out there of an amazing experience we had while on the Islands for Brody's Graduation. We are from the islands but are not able to use our house as it's not wheelchair friendly. I started looking for accommodations for a two night stay while home back in April. My hubby is a C6 quadriplegic and is in a power chair. There are VERY limited options for accommodations in this province, let alone on the Island. So, I made a few phone calls and sent messages to many different places, in hopes to find something close. I spoke many times with Tiffany about the possibility of staying at the lodge. I gave her a needs list and she went at it. She was amazing! It was determined that one room they had in particular would work for us so I booked it. Thank gosh! Anyway, fast forward to the day before graduation. Once we arrived at the Lodge, George ( who was absolutely amazing btw) showed us to our room, which I went and scouted out to make absolutely sure it would work before unloading and getting Matt out of the van. We immediately ran into an issue with the bed. While there was 6 inches clearance, it had a box frame under it and the lift would only go under less than a foot. He reassured me that he would figure it out and ran and got Virginia, who both went looking for a different frame. Thankfully they found one that would accommodate us and we went to work changing it out. I CANNOT even begin to express my thanks for what they did for us! And not only that, when I went to pay for the room, it had been taken care of! What the heck!! So, me being me, I burst into tears and thanked Tiffany and Crystal profusely. To say I was shocked was an understatement!! So THANK you to Brier Island Lodge for being Amazing hosts! I honestly thought I was going to have to make the trip back to Dartmouth and come back down the next day. What a relief!! AND, not only did the lodge do that, but Grandview on Brier, not only offered to bring our breakfast to the room, but provided it for free! Thank you so much to Katherine and Marcus! We appreciated that so much!! And huge shout out, the breakfast was amazing!! It was really the only meal I wound up eating the whole time we were home. (I didn't get the chance to eat what I had gotten from the Cafe in Tiverton because well, you know, ferries and time. Lol) 🤪 So THANK YOU to Tiffany , Virginia, George, Katherine and Marcus and Crystal for EVERYTHING you all did for us! You are all amazing!! You made our trip one I will never forget and one I will forever be grateful for! You can't beat the hospitality of the Islands!! Thank you from the bottom of our 💕 Matt & Laurie

• Derek Scott (10/5): - This place has stunning views, beautiful trails to walk, great location. It's quiet, staff are wonderful, restaurant is great. An amazing place to get lost in nature and still have luxury and ability to stay connected with people back home. This is not a crazy, busy tourist place. If you want to feel like you have beaches and seals all to yourself, but still want a comfy bed, Brier Island and Brier Island lodge is the place to be! The restaurant closes fairly early, but we were able to request a meal ahead of time on an evening we were returning after closing time. The restaurant will have your meal ready and waiting for you at the front desk. Bring warmer clothes than you normally would in the summer as the Island can be cool and foggy at times. Pick up a few groceries before going to the island. Overall, this is our favourite get-away spot to date.

• Tjitske (8/5): - Brier Island Lodge is a great place to stay on Brier island. Especially if you are doing an early morning whale watching tour, I highly recommend to stay at the island. Our room was very spacious and clean, we had access to the front with a small patio, but we could not move the chairs from the patio to adapt to the sun. The room was well equipped with a coffee maker, microwave and a fridge. The beds were good, and we had a sitting area as well. The views were amazing.

We booked a room with a-kitchenette for an extra cost.throughly recommended it was housed in a separate area and so when door closed you couldn’t hear the frig or air con. Our room was in the second block, very clean and looked as though it had had a make over. View over the river and the lighthouse lovely , balcony meant we could sit outside and have breakfast and drinks in the evening. Lovely island for peace and tranquillity.
