Guest Reviews
- MENGUS (4/5): - Cuisine barely clean
- WENDY (10/5): - Sis and I arrived a few hours prior to check-in time. Warmly greeted and offered coffee, juice and fresh native fruit. Delicious. Our rooms were ready and we were able to occupy them. No A/C, but leaving the doors open there was a nice breeze and sounds of the ocean waves. Early to rise with the local roosters; but refreshing sound compared to the city noise. Older accommodations; but clean. Enjoyable stay.
- Julie (4/5): - There wasn’t much privacy, room windows opens straight to walkways or public areas, no sound proofing, shared bathroom or room did not feel clean, backs right up to a neighbors yard with no screening, breakfast was bare minimum. Facility did not reflect promotional photos. Owners were helpful and readily available for questions.
- Clare (10/5): - A very friendly welcome, very clean room and surrounds . Delicious breakfast. Lovely peaceful garden and 7 minutes walk to the beach.
- dario (10/5): - Great location and value for money.
- Graciela (10/5): - This place is far from downtown. I needed a quiet place… it does advertise a Beach… it is by the sea… I did not see it as much of a Beach… it is in a very nice place by a beautiful Park… beautiful homes… and there is a very beautiful Restaurant by the same park … and these are wonderful places to spend relaxing times… there are public bathrooms… I liked it to wait for my flight. I left the downtown place at 10am and I wanted to have the relax. The place has a beautiful kitchen and lounging areas. Other than that the rooms are dormitory style very small… good for people with a car to go to other places. The Owner is wonderful… I felt a personal touch… I do recommend this Hostel.
- Arnold (10/5): - My wife and I loved EVERYTHING about this property and the two host, Frederick and Christel! We can’t say enough about the host and the accommodations! The property is perfectly located on the island near several beautiful beaches, restaurants, & markets, all within walking distance. The property itself is well maintained, very organized with plenty of room to socialize, or relax away from others, and provides everything you need for your stay. The host are lovely human beings who have the kindest hearts and most beautiful personalities we could have encountered. We highly recommend this Pension to all visitors traveling to Tahiti.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Host were very welcoming and friendly. Place was cleaned and well maintained. Thank you again
- Normand (10/5): - Hébergement familial et amical fort interessant.
- Richard (8/5): - A fun place nicely arranged with nice hostess.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was as advertised. Lovely owners super friendly. Good vibe. Could have used a few more touches - more dishes to use in kitchen, mirror in room more frequent linen refresh.
- marisa (8/5): - Great location with ample parking. Staff is very helpul. The private room I stayed in had a firm bed, which was perfect for me.
- Carin (10/5): - The hosts were so kind and accommodating to our family. Our flight schedules changed and they were easily flexible. They made arrangements for a rental car and offered advice about sightseeing. The pension serves visitors of all ages and is welcoming and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Super adresse !
- Anne-Marie Refsgaard (10/5): - Nice place to be, cozy atmosphere clean and tidy and very helpful hosts
- Nhu (10/5): - The host family is really nice and welcoming at both checking in and out time. They also help me find a good automatic car as most car rental rent manual on the island.
- Brian (8/5): - This is a hostel and not a hotel.....I saved money for a one night stay. Room was clean, Late check-in was good. I booked a room with two beds, but only got one. Not a concern. If you expect a hostel, you will not be dissapointed. If you expect a hotel, this is not the property for you. Location is near great snorkel spot. Owners were excellent and very friendly.
- Marie-lise (10/5): - .
- Brenda (8/5): - Lovely hosts/owners, so friendly, we had a good laugh with them.
Shared kitchen is so clean and very handy. The bathrooms are a bit old, although the outside one is soon to be replaced so hopefully the inside one will next. All very clean though.
The room was a good size, mattresses pretty comfy and fly screens on the windows was great to let some air in.
Less than 5mins to Mahina park/beach (good for sunset happy hour drinks) and about 10mins to the better beach a little further north.
Breakfast was baguette, fresh fruit and tea/coffee.
You can also do laundry for 1000pf for a load.
Compared to the price of other places in Tahiti this was good value.
- Lori (10/5): - Super friendly
- Peter (8/5): Good budget option near great public beaches - This is basic, serviceable accomodation at a basic price. Our double room was comfortable, with a shared bathroom right next door and a comfy common lounge area also. The shared kitchen had plenty of equipment and a bit of food odds and ends in case of need, and a generous-sized fridge for guests to share. A grocery store is just around the corner in one direction (500m) with a larger market a bit further the other direction.
The first beach is even closer, with very good snorkelling and it's as good or better a kilometre away, complete with a few French/English interpretation signs on the reef - underwater! The Pensione had a bit of basic snorkelling gear on hand - just enough to be useful for us, as Qantas had lost our baggage en route.
Good local restaurants, continental breakfast and friendly hosts complete the package.
There was the usual island-noise from dogs and roosters at all hours, but earplugs sort that.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- carmenza (6/5): - Like: close to the beach
Did not like: dorm was very small
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely owners with comfortable homr - The owners are so lovely and genuinely interested in making your stay more comfortable.
Breakfast was great with baguette and fresh fruit from their own garden.
The dorms are 4 bed with proper lockers, that's good. Bring some ear plugs as the roosters in the area start knocking off at 4am in the morning.
All in all, great stay! Highly recommended.
- Robert (10/5): - Staying at the Pension Te Miti was an amazing experience. I was traveling alone and the hosts, Kristen and Fred, were extremely helpful accommodating me. The breakfast of fresh coffee, baguette, and fresh fruit was amazing! It’s a quick 10 minute walk to the beach where there is some excellent snorkeling and swimming. There are some loaner snorkeling equipment at the pension that you can borrow as well. Fred even lent me a surf board to go surfing! They were so nice and generous! The room I stayed in was excellent. Really comfortable and cool. All the amenities worked there. Great showers and clean restrooms. I met some amazing people there as well. Great connections and friends that explored Tahiti with me and gave me rides around the island. People I will remember forever. That is the best part of staying at Pension Te Miti; the people you will meet while you are there. So whether you are in a dormitory or a private room, you are going to have a wonderful time and enjoy your stay in Tahiti. Merci!
- Leilani (6/5): - Was expecting a private bathroom for our use, not one to share.
- Shaun (10/5): - Good value for money, and host very accomodating. It is a fair way away from shops etc.
- Taylor (10/5): A++ - Great place, nice owners, good wifi, breakfast, shirt walk to the beach.
- Kelly (10/5): - We had an incredible time at Pension Te Miti. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with arranging our scooter rental. They had lots of tips about the island and we only regret we couldn’t stay longer. The nearby beach is easily accessible and has some of the best snorkeling I’ve seen just meters off shore. One note that is not specific to Pension Te Miti but rather to Tahiti as a whole- we recommend that travelers pack earplugs as the roosters start crowing very early every morning!
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Dan (10/5): - My stay was very pleasant the owners and other guests were friendly and accommodating. That were able to call and book various island excursions for me.
I recommend renting a scooter or car if you intend to stay here. The nearest beach is about 1km (0.6 miles). There is also a small restaurant and cafe within walking distance, but not much else.
- KENNETH (6/5): - super simple place no TV .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The arrival was expected by owner at 11:30 PM and room was quickly available. Help with confirming booking on Bora Bora was assisted as I do not carry a phone on International travel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - very friendly and helpful staff!! it was a very nice experience)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Frederick and Crystal made everyone feel at home the minute they landed which could have been at any time of the morning day or night.I landed myself at 7 in the morning and the first thing Frederick said was.....would you like some breakfast? and through out my stay they were very customer orientated. The pension itself was well located-5 minutes walk to the beach and to the ATM and shop. The breadfruit and mango trees really gave the pension a tropical feel with plenty of places to chill out with plenty of bird life. The kitchen had all you could want and breakfast was adequate. The use of the snorkeling gear was a god send as i traveled light and would have missed out on all those fish. The place was spotless and homely and the wi-fi was good. There was a nice mix of friendly guests there when i stayed. So thank you very much Frederick and crystal for making my once in a life time stay at your pension a nice one. Kensi G.(from Ireland).
- Warren (8/5): Very friendly host and good location - Host is super friendly and location is convenient. I found it difficult to find reasonably priced accommodations in Tahiti, so this hostel was one of the places with decent value. Shared bathrooms were very clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice place owned by lovely people! A bit far from the closest restaurant/snack
- Frederic (8/5): Great stay at Te Miti - Great stays at Te Miti (we stayed there twice), starting with a friendly welcome, clean rooms and facilities and nice continental breakfasts. The area is not central Papeete, but close to beaches and a good place to start a drive around the island of Tahiti. No AC in the rooms, but the fans in the rooms ensure a good night in most cases. For those of you that run in the morning, good uphill run in the valley and you can also run a few miles on the beach!
- michael (10/5): Met new friends; it all went well - The only problems there were the local noises and the lack of weekend and late night public transportation.
- Angel (10/5): A good place to meet fellow travelers. - We had a very good stay here. Fred was helpful answering questions and helping to book tours and a rental car. The room was comfy and had fans. Our area had a communal kitchen and two bathrooms. The included breakfast consisted of baguettes, jam, peanut butter, nutella, juice, fruits, cereal, coffee, and tea. It was good to talk to other travelers at breakfast, and later in the communal areas. We made friends and even rented a car together. Mahana park with its good snorkeling beach is around 5 minutes away as is a small store across from it. There is another beach about 5 minutes further down the road, and more shopping markets about 10 minutes in the other direction from the pension. For a sandy beach Papara with its black sand, river, nice views, and a small good restaurant with very good prices for Tahiti is my pick. My daughter loved the coconut ice cream and allowing the river current to give her a ride to the ocean. In conclusion, Pension Te Miti is well situated if you want to stay away from bustling Papeete. It is close to 2 beaches, and some small food markets. A rental car is recommended to travel the island (Papara, and Tahiti iti have nice spots), or be adventurous and try the bus (we did both). If looking for nightlife, stay in town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is clean and spacious. We had use of the kitchen and family area. Nice breakfast with coffee tea juice fruits and breads.2 bathrooms and the outside was actually nicer then inside bathroom.the room had a fan.the owners are very accommodating.
- Kate (10/5): Rural stay not too far from the airport - Friendly hosts, guests from all over the world.
Spacious bathroom, good breakfast.
Beware roosters in the morning ;)
- Guillermo (Tony (6/5): Nice view of the mountain from the hotel. - Hotel staff/owner were friendly and accommodating, airport pick up provided by the hotel was punctual.
- Lillia (8/5): A nice and clean place to stay - It was to enjoy the water and see another place
- Verified traveler (4/5): Lovely hosts but extremely basic accomodation - The hosts are extremely nice & friendly people, but the room was really disappointing. The bed was uncomfortable and the indoor shower was broken and the sink also blocked. The outdoor shower had no lock and the door was waist height, so I didn't feel comfortable using it without a bed sheet draped across it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overnight layover - We only stayed here for 6 hours overnight- got in late the night before and hopped on our domestic flight to Bora Bora early in the morning so can't expand much on the above. But we were picked up from the airport as promised, had a comfortable place to sleep and then back to the airport in the morning!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The owner is very nice and accommodating. The rooms are very simple. The hostel, is off the regular road. So expect some type of wildlife there aka bugs. Other than a simple place to stay the place was ok but the owner was excellent.
- Gosia (10/5): Great pension. - We stay there 4 night. Very friendly atmosphere. Clean room, fresh baguette for breakfast.
It is a little far from Papeete capitol of Tahiti. If you are going to rent a car, there is excellent place to.stay.
- Kaz (10/5): Stayed two weeks . - Nice place, people are the friendliest I ever encountered. Every one greets you with a smile.
Our live in roomies were respectful and friendly. Traffic rules are to be learned because it appears at first hat they do not exist. Night driving may be best to avoid.
You meet people at breakfast that been around the world and are on their second trip. Helps if you speak French but you can manage without. You soon will be learning to speak Tahitian.
- Adrian (10/5): A place to see - Amazing, Nice people nice place
- Karin (10/5): - Relaxed stay at the hostel. The closest beach was being upgraded. Great daily breakfast and good company. The owners were very accommodating and kind. We had a great time at the hostel.
The hostel is a distance from Papeete, a public bus comes by ca. every hour. The beaches close by are for casual swimming.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great choice for budget travelers - Why spend $200+ on your hotel stay in Tahiti when you can stay here for a fraction of the cost? The family that runs this Pension is very friendly. It feels more like a B&B than a hostel. A very nice beach is only a 20 minute walk.
