Guest Reviews
- Abraham Francisco (9/5): Buen valor y locacion - Buena locación, precio y tranquilo.
- C (5/5): Great roon bad services by management - Hello, loved the location and how spacious the room was and cleanliness. The guest services dest gentleman was very nice and helpful. However, the general manager or owner was not at ALL friendly. My mother came to town and needed to use my room to jist change before I checked out. Literally 15 min. ( i had also paid for 2 ppl but my boyfriend could not make it to Oaxaca with me) and shexdid notcallpw that at all. My mom is a 65 year old lady and she was NOT gonna stay!!! This place has a huge problem with evaluating a situation and doing whats good for your guests. I will Never stay here again and its a shame because the location was perfect.
- Gomez Sanchez (10/5): - Ubicacion
- Enrique (10/5): - Beautiful inner courtyard with a pleasant colonial atmosphere. Short walk to the zocalo and next to all important historical and cultural sites, yet in a quiet setting.

- Joanne (8/5): -
- Claudia (8/5): - Room ok. Location excellent. Room was a bit dark. Roof terrace was quiet and under used.

- Debbie (9/5): Overall great stay, nice hotel in ideal location. - Perfect location - close to everything but not too busy. Beautiful view from the restaurant Our suite was close to the restaurant so there were lights and music until late each night, but it was the holidays and I didn't really have high expectations. Not enough towels - but I like to have extra for my hair or if I want to shower before dinner etc. It would be nice to have bigger floor mats for the bathroom. .
- Sandra (8/5): This hotel has a good location to stay - Good location Clean
- Bryan (8/5): Better than expected - Location location location
Great value Nothing to complain
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Ginna (9/5): I would definitely stay here again! - The room was lovely and spacious. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom functioned well; hot showers and a magnifying mirror by the sink. Staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. The restaurant needs more options for a vegan like me. Especially breakfast. Options like rice and beans, waffles, avocado toast with fresh sourdough bread would be a good idea.

- Gerardo (6/5): We stayed here for a week, very pleasant and perfect location to El Centro. Room was clean. - Location, very close to everything downtown (centro). Also, the terrace was nice to get a bite to eat or drink.
- Millsey (6/5): Caution - Location location location. Excellent location. Pleasant courtyard. Restaurant food not good. Nowhere comfortable to sit anywhere. I am 73 and I had to leave 3 nights early due to a medical issue. I couldn't breathe. Every room in Oaxaca city was sold out and I'm sure they sold the room. They refused my request for 3 nights back. They actually sent us to the bus station over an hour early so they could clean the room and turn it over. I've never said this before however Not Recommended.
- didem (6/5): I wouldn’t book it over the weekend or for a long book at least not my room!! - The receptionist were so lovely and very helpful. The stuff very friendly, kind and warm, the dog was the cutest and I felt safe there, and the location was really good.. The room was dark, if I open the curtain people were there mostly, the rooms smelled very humid, ow specially inside the wardrobe!! the water was nice in the shower but the shower head was making it very difficult to enjoy the shower. After the shower it was all water around the toilet, I had to put the towel there after the shower to be able to go to toilet in the middle of the night and they took my towel.. The window frames were about to break.. there was a club just in the opposite street, the walls were shaking literally I could feel the bass in my bed which made it difficult to sleep.
- Tamara (10/5): - Consistently wonderful staff, a classic Oaxacan provincial hotel that is quiet and perfectly located.
- Chris (9/5): -
- Capital 21 (8/5): -
- Omar (8/5): It’s a good Hotel - It’s a good place, good location, my room was very spacious, the guy that attended in the check in was helpful; they have a rooftop that is very nice The guy of check out was not friendly at all
- Judith (10/5): - This hotel is located in the main part of the city. It’s close to shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. Staff were always very friendly and helpful. Definitely staying here when I visit the city again. The hotel also has a roof top restaurant with a view perfect for a late night drink. Highly recommend this hotel.
- Kristen (8/5): Very good -
- Ingrid (1/5): Don’t get fool by the price spend more and get service somewhere else - No service I booked the hotel for my two grandmas 70 & 82 years old - No hot water - even after let the tap running for 33min ( which is something totally indecent to do but after a 10hrs bus trip in a freezing bus you do need a shower to warm you ) - same thing the next morning no hot water . No help from the team. Also breakfast 40min wait to get their breakfast no prep been done in advance and they were the only guests in the breakfast area … decided to spend more and move them to a far better hotel Los Amantes where they had the service they deserved.
- Lauren (10/5): Walkable location, cozy vibes, quiet space - Location was PERFECT, a close walk to the garden, museum, and other sites. Room was beautiful and clean! Will be booking again here!
- Manu (8/5): Very good -
- Consuelo (10/5): - It felt safe and homey! It was beautiful and clean, everyone was ! The location was perfect, within walking distance to most things. Thank you Parador Monte Carmelo staff❤️
Hope to visit again.
- Sabine (5/5): Absolutely adequate for one night before heading to the airport. - Great location. Our room didn't have much light. But it was completely adequate for one night.
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Niall (7/5): Good - Not included.
In house restaurant good. Noise at night time and mornings.
- Mike (8/5): Very good -
- Jack (7/5): Good - Location was good, rooms were cleaned every day, friendly staff. The first picture - the terrace with the sunbeds is outdated and misleading, that space is a restaurant with tables and chairs - not somewhere for guests to relax
- Tania (8/5): Very good - Great location and nice rooms I reserved a room with 2 queen beds for 2 adults but they made me paid an extra adult, as the said the reservation said one adult only.. Then they only gave one ticket for breakfast (despite I paid the "extra" adult). Also, when filling the check in form I noticed you can't write the price you are paying, something dodgy going on.
- Paul (8/5): great stay for the price everyone was helpful and honest and quited area - location was within walking distance of everything no laundry service was inconvenient
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional - Very helpful staff. Comfortable room. Quiet location close to historic center.
- m (10/5): - The staff were very accommodating. The room were clean. The restaurant 'Raices' was able to accommodate a small request. The food and presentation was outstanding. This is a very quiet street that feeds into Zócalo about 10 minutes walk away.
- Ana (8/5): Very good -
- Olaf (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (7/5): Good - Great location, beautiful building. No information provided in the room about the hotel (such as what time breakfast was, where etc.)
There was no where in the room or hotel to chill drinks or get ice. 2 x 500ml of room temp water were provided daily though.
Neither of the windows in my room securely locked.
- Carlos (8/5): The staff, room, location and food was great. My complaint was the wifi and reception was so bad - Breakfast was good, location was great! Wifi was terrible
- Jose (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pamela (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (7/5): Good, safe & quiet neighborhood, relatively central, friendly staff. - Breakfast was Ok. The free breakfast was a bit limited in range and oportunity. There are LOTS of restaurants within a few hundred feet. There are several good grocery stores one block away to stock up on snacks and cold drinks. The room was very small. Big enough for one person, definately too small for two. The $35 I paid extra per night for breakfast, a refrigerator and coffeemaker was too much. I thought I was going to get a larger room as well.
- Luis A (6/5): - This hotel is located in a great area, it’s safe and quiet, very close to restaurants and cathedrals.
The staff for the most part was good, except at check in, where the receptionist was a little bit rude to find my reservation.
The room I had is good, except for the bathroom. The toilet and sink have very very low pressure, and that can be annoying. I hope they can fix this issue, but overall for the price and location the hotel is ok.
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- ANA LAURA (10/5): - Hospedaje centrico y tranquilo
- Patricia (8/5): - Clean , safe , friendly staff and close to el centro.
- Jaime (6/5): Pleasant -
- Julian (6/5): - Our stay could be better if the room had air conditioning. The head of the bed was not attached and it moves. The fan was not enough to cool off due to humidity. The bathroom window was toward the patio it did had a not clear pattern paper but still visible.
- Carina (8/5): - Sparce but comfortable for our first night in Oaxaca. The rooftop restaurant wasn’t open but it was a Monday when we stayed. Very walkable and friendly staff. Hot water was welcome in the shower.
- anselmo (6/5): - mi credit card numbers where stolen when they charged for my stay. had to call my credit card and cancel. further charges
- Paul (8/5): A perfect place to recharge and relax in the heart of Oaxaca. - The building is beautiful and perfectly located close to the Centro action, but quiet. The room with two king beds is enormous, with very comfortable firm beds, ac, and a little fridge. There is nothing wrong with property at all. A little bit of color in the courtyard would make it more inviting. Also I wish roof terrace had been open in the evening to relax over the street.
- Beth (6/5): Clean, close to town, staff not most helpful - Did the job and was close to the town We had to pay 400 pesos to check in a few hours early even though the room was ready, which I have never ever encountered in my life. And even though we were leaving the next day at 4am for our flight so we were barely there.
- Lorraine (9/5): Superb -
- Ramon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Magdalena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fred (9/5): Superb - The location is excellent, very close to Santo Domingo, the Cultural Museum, Botanical Garden, loads of galleries, restaurants and El Rito (for those who like chocolate). The staff were friendly and helpful, the beds were on the firm side, which for us were perfect, and the room was very quiet at night. The breakfast on the terrace was great.
- Sebastian (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (8/5): Wonderful location, beautiful rooftop, great value! - The breakfast and rooftop space was absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and met our needs. The electronic credit card machine was not working so we had to pay in cash.
- Melissa (9/5): Great location. Clean, comfortable hotel. - Location was great. And it was clean and comfortable. Staff were attentive. But I did get a little worried when I arrived on Fri. From Fri to sun, the credit card machine wasn’t working. By Sunday night they asked if I could do a transfer or draw money from an ATM. Thankfully on Monday it was sorted and I could pay with my card.
I would hv been quite unhappy if I had to draw from an ATM / do bank transfer. All these have extra cost and poses a real inconvenience.
- Doris (8/5): - It is a nice place, but it needs a bit of TLC. The bedroom was big, so was the bathroom but it needs tables or stands for personal items, not enough lights in the room either.
- Richard (10/5): A great historical type traditional residence. If we return, it will be our first choice of hotel. - The hotel was close to all the must see spots in town. eg. the main square, the markets and all the best local eateries.
The hotel staff went over the top to make sure our stay would be wonderful. Daniel on the front desk took care of booking our day tours and obtaining our transportation to the airport . The room was spotless and had everything we needed. The front desk could have some local street maps to guide us to the must see sites in town. We did find a tourist info booth. They give them out .
- Patricia (8/5): Secure spot. Good breakfast great helpful staff with good English at desk - Location and staff Wi-Fi in one of our reserved rooms had poor WiFi
- Nancy (9/5): The staff was pleasant and flexible. The facilities clean and the hotel is close to everything. - The building is beautiful and the size of the smaller rooms are great. The bedroom with the large king size bed is the most comfortable. The pillows were not very comfortable. The smaller rooms have very limited space in the bathroom, specially the toilet being so close to the shower.
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margot (8/5): Very good - Great location
Quiet All we as good
- Alejandra (8/5): - The hotel is nice but I found it expensive for what it is and breakfast was not included. The restaurant had just opened, so the NYE party was very disorganized and expensive. We listened to Christmas songs even though I requested to change the music. The playlist repeated at least 4 times.
- Daniel (9/5): Nice sttay at a good price - The location and the staff The water on the shower takes time to warmup
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Wes (8/5): Nice hotel: construction during Dia de Los muertos - We had a nice stay at the hotel however there was a complete demolition of the front areas where the reception was and a restaurant was. The construction started around 8:45am until 6:30pm daily, making it difficult to sleep in, rest during the day, while on our vacation and do some remote work. We were very surprised this was not mentioned at the time of booking, nor prior to our arrival or at check in. We were also very surprised there was any construction even allowed during this week…dia de Los muertos is an 8 days celebration in Oaxaca that we were specifically there for and of course the hotel prices reflected that too. We mentioned our disappointment and questioned the reasoning mid-stay to the hotel manager and the. submitted a complaint directly to hotels.com. Only hotels.com actually did something for us, the hotel never responded to us or offered any compensation or refund. The hotel still has not responded to Hotels.com requests. We are disappointed the construction happened the first 5 days we were there…including both Saturday and Sunday. Other than the construction, everything else about this hotel was good, especially the location.
- Veronica (1/5): No one deserves to be treated this way, the way staff dismissed my safety concerns was appalling! - If actual MANAGER or OWNER wants to reach out to clarify incident, I'm happy to talk to them and only them. Looking forward to watching recording 4:45 - 6:30 pm (and hope time-stamp on recording is accurate with actual time), to prove to me no one entered my room yesterday evening, as the lady in charge stated, despite not having seen "proof" herself, she even said she would upload on this site. She outright suggested I was lying and disregarded my safety concerns. I feared who ever went in could come back in the middle of the night to take the remaining $3000+ dlls. I paid for 2 nights, stayed 1, and ended up paying another night at different hotel. I believe that because I didn't report in the morning, they thought I hadn't noticed the money missing, when they saw me go out without backpack, they went back for more. My guess is they didn't take all the money the first time, because I would've reported it immediately and asked for cameras to be checked right away, with only a few bills missing, they thought I wouldn't notice.
If you stay here, make sure to not leave anything valuable in room, I went through great lengths to hide backpack and money and they still found it. An incident, I was missing $300 dlls while I was out for a couple of hrs, didn't bring for fear of loosing it, it was a large sum but left it hidden in backpack . When I noticed, decided not to report because I had doubts of the amount I had and wanted to verify withdrawal and receipts. I went out for coffee later in the evening, but decided to leave a few clues in my belongings, even took pictures of how my stuff was arranged. To my surprise, they went back for more while I was gone, though this time they didn't take anything. This time I did report it, the staff was extremely rude, was told they would call the tech person to review recordings (that I would need to pay for) to prove to me that no one went in my room. Explained that I didn't feel safe, I was alone, my privacy had been violated and my room was at the back of the hotel, was dark, and no one was staying in the rooms near mine. The lady was condescending, started telling me a story of how in the past a guest made up story of stuff being stolen and how the hotel could file charges against him for defamation, told her didn't care about money, it was safety concerns I had. Asked her to come to my room so I could show her privately how I was sure someone had been in my room, she said she wasn't going to put herself in that position and that we needed to wait for cameras to show something, she said they couldn't check recordings themselves. Later I decided to checkout, found her checking the recordings because tech guy could come until next day, (thought it couldn't be done), she seemed shocked I was leaving, her dimeanor had changed, told her I didn't appreciate how she handled the situation, told her I had every reason to feel unsafe. She claimed she wasn't the manager but was the person "in charge", there was another men working with her that was very quiet.
