Guest Reviews
- Misty (10/5): Beautiful property - Beautiful property directly next the campus, perfect for our visit with our son. The owners were kind enough to allow us to include him in our breakfast at the property, which was much appreciated.
- Rebeccah (10/5): - What a wonderful B&B! By far one of the best we've stayed at! Our room was beautiful, cozy, clean, and the bed was so comfortable. They left an amazing bottle of local wine, and fresh flowers in our room đź’— Our hosts were outstanding! So helpful, and sweet. Breakfast was incredible. Our favorite was the wild rice quiche! Beautiful home, gorgeous property. So many cozy places in the garden to sit. We loved the 4 season porch. 10 out of 10!
- Robert (8/5): - Jan was very friendly and pleasant to speak with. Breakfasts were exceptionally tasteful and well presented. Other guests were very friendly and pleasant Highly recommend a stay here!
- Herb (6/5): - Door lock for room was very unreliable
Door lock on building entrance didn't work at all
Instructions for controlling heat in the room were not clearly placed near the gas fireplace
No in person acknowledgement or instruction about room was provided
- Steve (10/5): - Our host was fantastic! Everything was clean and tidy upon arrival. Her daughter Grace made the most delicious breakfasts. A egg, spinich and cheese filled croissant with bacon for Saturday morning and french toast cubes with caramel and sausage for Sunday. OUTSTANDING!
- John (8/5): - Breakfast was good. Parking was a little tight.
- Michael (10/5): - Winona is a very nice city with lots to do, nice parks with walkng trails, beutiful area with the bluffs and water options - both river and lakes. The B&B is quant and very adequate with a great breakfast and friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful and quiet, close to everything. - Amazing and comfortable. A unique place, beautiful home, delicious breakfast. Walking distance to the gorgeous river and park.
- Diana (10/5): Just lovely! - Delicious breakfast, wonderful hosts, & a beautiful location
- Sarah (10/5): - We spent 2 nights here and it was wonderful! We stayed for our daughter’s college graduation from WSU, and the house is directly across the street from campus so it was very convenient! The room was very clean and comfortable and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in! Extremely comfortable sheets and bedding as well. Breakfast was delicious both mornings! The owners were very friendly and the main house is very quaint! We definitely plan to stay again! Winona is a wonderful town!
- Leslie (10/5): - Convenient to WSU. Quiet despite being in and among student housing. Jan and Grace are friendly and excellent hosts. Breakfast was outstanding and we enjoyed the social interaction with other guests. The room was just large enough for our 2- night stay with the use of the 4 season porch. We walked to dinner both evenings, 15 min each way along mostly residential blocks until arriving "downtown". The bed was comfortable although we don't like the slippery microfiber sheets, that is a preference, others may like them.
- Kathleen (10/5): Wonderful stay - Lovely hosts and an absolutely beautiful historic property. Quiet, clean, and comfortable in a great location.
- Victor (10/5): - Quaint and 15 minutes to walk to downtown shops and dining. Good side walks all the way to downtown.
Gourmet breakfast served right at 9:00 a.m. so don't be late.
Plenty of spaces with flowers and seating to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee from the Keurig you make in foyer.
Green door is the entrance for lodging behind the main house. And, in the morning you dine in the main house.
- john (10/5): - People were beyond great I'd rate them 20 out of 10

- Monica (10/5): - I absolutely loved the Carriage House! I stayed in the Toy Room - perfectly quaint! I was concerned that I would get cold at night because I did not see a thermostat or a way to control the heat but I was very comfortable during the night. I will stay here again.
- Amelie (10/5): - The owner and her family were very graciuos and engaging hosts!
Plus it is accrss the street from campus and walking distance to downtown restaurants and shops - so convenient!
- Sally (10/5): - Love staying at The Carriage House. Lots of charm, very comfortable and great breakfast !
- Joseph (10/5): - It was a wonderful stay. The staff was helpful and gracious. The double bed was “small” by comparison
- Harvey (10/5): - We had a very enjoyable experience. We stayed in the Toy Room, which is a little small, but we had all the room that was necessary, and it was very clean. The parking space for our car was a little tight, but it was manageable. Breakfast was different than at a hotel, but that too was a good thing. It was a very tasty and healthy sit down meal with time to get to know the people who also stayed there. All in all, it was a very nice experience.
- Joanna (10/5): - This place is just beautiful!
The ladies working there are great and so friendly.
We very much enjoyed the stay and recommend to anyone!
- Lynn (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay, it was very cozy. It was a cold night outside, we had a gas stove in our room that kept us very warm! Breakfast was delicious.
- dennis (10/5): - nnn
- Jessica (10/5): - Owners were the kindest people, the breakfast served was amazing, and it really just felt like a home away from home!
- Ron (10/5): Deluxe and delicious is an understatement! - This was the BEST b'n'b I've stayed at. The room was a fantastic suite (Friendship Room) with a large, queen bed, an oversized sleigh (twin) bed, two very comfortable sitting chairs, AND a power jet jacuzzi. The current owners just bought the place and are doing a fantastic job sliding right into the business. The breakfast- absolutely amazing! LOVED the caramel french toast! Had the fortune of staying here at the same time as a couple who have stayed there every year for their anniversary for 6+ years. They said that it has only gotten better over the years. I highly recommend staying here. I know we will when we visit Winona again!
- Zoe Ann (10/5): - We had a wonderful, memorable time at the Carriage House B&B! They exceeded our every expectation, and we will definitely be going back!

- Andrew (10/5): Great stay, AWESOME breakfast. - We had a cool room and an AWESOME breakfast. The owner chatted with us over breakfast (from a safe distance across the giant dining room table).
- Mark (8/5): Nice Stay - Nice place. Nice accommodations. Good getaway for a day or two. Next to Winona State University, if that is a consideration. Overall good experience.
- Mark (10/5): - Don and his daughter were very amicable. We enjoyed visiting with them and learning so much about Winona. Their map of the area was exceptional. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Old carriage house remodeled into an inn behind the main house. Tons of antique charm from floor to ceiling.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A wonderful architectural beauty of a place to stay. Also, such a nice connection with the owner who is very helpful about things to do places to see and leaving one alone to rest and relax!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - people and property location were really great
building was old and understandably hard to adequately and fully maintain in its entirety ....
- Verified traveler (10/5): - There was nothing we didn’t like. We were greeted by their elderly cat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent hosts. We're very helpful and knowledgeable in sharing information about places to visit, activities available and places eat in Winona. Asked for any dietary requests and we're super accommodating.
- Michael (10/5): Charming quiet home near Great Lakes Shakespeare - Kind and wonderful owners who went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. We took their recommendations for the Marine Art Museum ( a must see) and a scenic WI drive (including Buena Vista Park, pictured), and were not disappointed
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful property. Person's working at this B&B were authentic, warm and competent.
- Hoyt (10/5): It actually is in an old carriage house! - Nice B&B; it actually is in an old carriage house. Service, cleanliness and breakfast are all first rate. The bed was a little soft for our tastes and there is no TV in the rooms but one is in the common space down stairs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We enjoyed Don’s patient explanations of the history of the home and community. He also provided us with excellent recommendations for dinner and complimentary tickets to a surprisingly outstanding museum. It was snowing and in the morning Don cleaned off our car before breakfast so we were all set to go. We have no complaints about anything.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The coffee and breakfast were excellent.
Owners were great people.
