Guest Reviews
- Stéphane (9/5): Un endroit plein de charme and so British ! - Une chambre spacieuse et au charme fou, et un peu personnel au petit soin. Chambre un peu bruyante
- Bob (8/5): I would happily stay here again. - Breakfast was good quality, hot and cooked to order. Limited variety, but what there was, was good quality. Staff were most polite and efficient. Bed was a little tired, but the rest of the Inn was functional and homely.
- David (10/5): We had a superb stay (and I don't say that very often!) - From the warm welcome, to the excellent meal (with great ales & house wine) to the superb room and good breakfast we were very happy with every element of our stay. We read the good reviews of the Oakhill Inn, but sometimes reality can be a little less convincing, but in this case the opposite was true, the Oakhill was better than we'd expected and made for a really enjoyable stay. Overall the quality of everything was great - and it was fairly priced making it good value too.
- Mark (9/5): -
- Leonille (10/5): - Lovely stay. Staff very helpful
- Jochen (8/5): -
- John (7/5): Adequate for an overnight stay. - Breakfast was good. Stayed for one night and ate at the inn. Very busy for a Sunday and they could have done with more staff as service was abysmal.
- Lindsey (10/5): A perfect place to stay if you are visiting the area! - The owner was friendly and welcoming on our arrival and he showed us to our room. The lunch and breakfast we had were delicious and the newly renovated courtyard garden was a gorgeous spot to sit in. The room was well decorated and the bed was comfortable. Very handy to have its own parking as well. Nothing
- Vanessa (8/5): OVERALL VERY GOOD - VERY COMFORTABLE BED AND PILLOWS - JUST THE BATHROOM LET IT DOWN - FOOD WAS EXCELLENT THE BATHROOM NEEDED DECORATING AS IT WAS NOT GREAT, PEALING WALLS, WATER DAMAGE TO WOODWORK .
- AILSA (10/5): Great stay and lovely breakfast. - Great stay and lovely breakfast.
On recommande !!

- simon (10/5): Lovely one night stay, even had time for a soak in the freestanding bath - Loved the friendly staff, the evening meal was great, and the room was really comfy.
Florentines in a box waiting for us was a nice touch too.
Nice Breakfast
- Anderson (9/5): - Really friendly staff and fabulous food
- Peter (8/5): -
- Casey (9/5): - The manager is so welcoming, friendly and personable. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was sensational with lots of delicious options, and the chef was so helpful and friendly despite being all on his own for the breakfast service. The rooms feel classy and cosy, and the bed was so comfy! The whole area is beautiful. Some of the staff aren't as knowledgeable as others when it comes to queries
- Janet (10/5): -
- Guest (9/5): Perfect location for antique market at South of England showground. - The welcome and service from the staff. The food evening meal and breakfast. Comfortable room and good beer.
- Johnston (9/5): Cheery atmosphere and excellent dining. - Comfortable room with view of the churchyard, friendly staff and excellent food.
- Mian (9/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): I would return to the Oakhill Inn if I needed to stay in the arean again - I wasn't able to have breakfast as I wsa having an operation at the hospital so cannot rate that, although it did sound very nice. Gill checked me in - she was very welcoming and helpful and arranged a taxi for me for the following morning. Melissa, my waitress at dinner was also excellent. The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was small but adequate however there were no shelves to use for one's own toilertries. toothbrush etc and it would have benefitted enormously from a small shelf in the showre and also one above the sink. It would have been nice to be able to check in between 3 - 5pm. Also it would have been much better to have somewhere to put toiletrires in the bathroom.
- David (9/5): Great pub, delicious food, comfy bed and helpful staff. What more could you ask for - Liked everything about this place. Brilliant location for us as visiting family near by. Rooms were really comfortable, we had a great nights sleep and a delicious breakfast. Staff were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night and food was very good. Nothing at all, loved everything about the place.

- nigel (7/5): Nice enough - Nice enough, huge bathroom. lady at breakfast was lovely and it was an excellent breakfast to be fair. It was quiet and we had a good sleep the chipped paint on the skirting and marks on the carpets, it’s quite dated. The car park is an issue it’s small and parking on the street is a challenge. We eventually parked a fair walk away and moved our car to the car park when there was room later in the evening
- Maria (9/5): - Excellent Should have asked for a bath as saw in pics and thought we had one
- Keith (10/5): Lovely find will definitely be back if in that area - The staff were very friendly and so were the locals. The room was great value and the breakfast was very good ! And it was dog friendly Wouldn’t say we didn’t like it but parking is not on site , but only a few yards away but worked out fine 🙂
- Colin (10/5): Excellent - Convenient and comfortable Nothing of note
- Phillip (10/5): -
- Tracy (7/5): Enjoyed our stay a little pricy for simple rooms not luxurious for the price - Authentic old quirky and situated very near the Somerset railway we were visiting
Friendly staff
Good food Shower door in my parents room fell off and in our room peeling paint work in the bathroom
- Amalina (10/5): High recommend! - The staff were honestly amazing. The manager is one of the best I’ve ever met, he was really kind and attentive. Breakfast was also delicious and a lovely lady served me too.
- Sandra (10/5): Highly recommended. - Super helpful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent food, both dinner and breakfast. Even though they were so busy with Christmas diners we were very well attended to. Lovely clean room with super comfy bed. We will be staying again. Highly recommended. Having to go home!
- Elisabeth Jayne (9/5): Good value and location - Really clean room and ensuite, friendly staff, great breakfast, plentiful parking.
- Anderson (9/5): High standards with a very relaxed and welcoming ambiance. I will definitely return. - Fabulous little inn. Really friendly, welcoming and relaxed. All the staff were so happy, thoughtful and nice.
The food is fantastic. Breakfast was the best and tailored to each individual. Evening meal excellent too. Nothing at all. The only problem was that I wasn’t staying longer because of work!
- Jenn (10/5): Would come back - It’s an old building. Not double glazing and it is right on the main road The staff were so lovely.
Bit of a funky smell in the dining room. Problems with drains I think
- Nicholas (8/5): Comfortable well placed bed and breakfast - Massive room
Comfy bed
Good breakfast Furniture tired (picky)
- Jo Corben (9/5): The locale was perfect for our needs. The staff were MORE than welcoming (wonderful)! The food - A1 - Perfect location. Country roads noisy at 6am...obviously!! Farming/ rural industry - has to be tolerated. Best bit - ROARING LOG FIRE!!....happy days!
Food was excellent, can definitely recommend the pizza.

- Christopher Paul (9/5): Lovely stay, friendly and homely with great food. - Great room - spacious and well decorated with a fab bathroom.
The food in the pub was also very good. I can thoroughly recommend the Guinea Fowl. Very nice.
Landlord was very nice as were all the staff!!
- michelle (10/5): Couples getaway - 2 night stay, wonderful bedroom, spotlessly clean. Food especially breakfast was amazing. Owner Wayne is a 🌟. Loved our stay Nothing to dislike, can't recommend oakhill inn enough.
- Ana (10/5): -
- Giles (7/5): It was ok, no real complaints but likely wouldn’t use again due the noise in the restaurant. - Traditionally English pub. Warm and cosy. Difficult to park, the restaurant was very noisy so difficult to hear each other. Service at the bar was slow for drinks and seemed to favour the locals before the customer rather than take orders in order
- HOWARD (10/5): - Great hosts, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and car parking.
- Colin (9/5): - Wayne and his team were super friendly and helpful. Food was excellent.
- Steven (10/5): Great as always - Have stayed here several times before as does one of the other engineers from my company and will continue to do so as it is a friendly place to stay and the food is great. Found nothing yet to dislike
- Wilfried (10/5): - Vriendelijke bediening. Lekker eten. Niets
- Patricia (8/5): Overall an enjoyable stay with excellent meals, evening and breakfast. Excellent location. - Excellent meals. Friendly welcome. Nice size bedroom with a very good sized bathroom with a bath 😊. Car park was not easy to find especially when arriving in the dark, it could do a sign on the bottom side of the entrance.

- Juliette (10/5): Fabulous - I’m going back! - Lovely old pub, welcoming from the moment I opened the door. Blazing wood stoves, happy and helpful staff. Big comfy room with roll top bath in en suite. Delicious dinner - far better than pub grub. Breakfast also great with best coffee I’ve had for years

Big room and en-suite
Warm
Bed very comfy
Tasty breakfast Lack of privacy with curtains/blinds open
- Christine (10/5): Very enjoyable stay. Would stay again & would recommend - Staff were very friendly. Room was comfortable & clean though bathroom was a little small. Food was excellent & general atmosphere was good & the pub was cosy at night Parking was awkward but this was mainly due to work being done in the carpark
- MIKE (9/5): Comfortable, quiet and friendly - The breakfast was okay excellent - well cooked and presented The room and the corridor outside the room needed a bit of tlc
- Heather (9/5): -
- Judy (8/5): -
- Pamela (9/5): A very enjoyable stay and would be happy to visit again. - The warm and friendly welcome The ensuite bathroom was very small and rather tight to use hand basin.
- Herwig Oberhuber (9/5): - Old coach inn located in the picturesque village of Oakhill with pleasant restaurant and pub. Excellent parking possibilities around the corner. Modernized rooms, somewhat cramped, but with comfortable beds and OK bathrooms. Good dog walking possibilities in the nearby recreation area. Rooms do not get serviced if you stay more than one night.
- Valerie (9/5): I really enjoyed my stay looking around the village I spent my school summer holidays as a child. - Lovely breakfast and plenty of choice there was nothing thatI didnt like
- Isabelle (8/5): - We came to the area for a wedding. Nice room, loved the bath. We had dinner when we arrived which was decent. The eggs royale breakfast on the second morning was much smaller, had ordered it the night before so should be enough time to stock up on ingredients.
- Jenny (8/5): Perfect for what we were looking for - Very friendly staff
Very good evening meal Not great lighting
- Mark (9/5): Good old fashioned great service and very good value for money. - Cosy pub atmosphere. Very welcoming, Landlady. Breakfast chef very professional and food was great, and beautifully presented.
- Laura (10/5): Great! - Very comfortable room, friendly staff, great food, nice pub. Couldn't really fault much! Shower pressure could maybe be slightly better.
Us lazies would appreciate a slightly later breakfast time option (maybe until 10?) and 11am checkout time.
- Julie (8/5): -
- Maria Sofia (8/5): Charming inn with great food, friendly staff, and a few quirks that come with its historic character - We really enjoyed our stay :) The staff were super friendly and helpful, which made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was excellent, and the location is perfect if you’re exploring Somerset and the Cotswolds by car – there’s also comfortable parking on site. We also loved the pub food and drinks – definitely worth trying if you’re staying here. A few small downsides: the pillows were quite soft for our taste, and the room was a bit humid (though that might just be typical for the UK). Since the building is old, the floors are quite creaky and uneven, which added to the charm but might bother light sleepers. The room itself was also quite small, with limited space to open a suitcase anywhere but the bed.
Overall, a charming stay with great service and good food – we’d happily come back!
- Neil (8/5): Quick overnight stay as attending the Pilon Paryy - Friendly staff , hot shower and nice breakfast

Food was delicious and served with a smile. Parking was an issue when I arrived but finally found a spot nearby. Was assured the car park would empty by 9 but I wasn’t going back out!
