- Barbara (8/5): Ideal for a short stay. Great staff - Perfect for what we were looking for. The lady in the bar was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. She suggested places to eat and where to get breakfast.
- Francis (8/5): Good value for money and a great location - Warm welcome, comfortable bed and great location on the main street. Good wifi, plenty of places to eat nearby. Excellent value for money. The room was quieter than we expected and we had a good nights sleep. A bit boisterous in the bar because of Saturday afternoon football on tv. It didn't bother us but might have been an issue for some visitors.
Room was slightly dated, but it didnt detract from a great stay. Such a friendly place.

- Rachel (9/5): Got exactly what we paid for and what we expected. No complaints - Location was great, we were at a wedding at Runa farm which was 5 mins drive away. Staff were polite, welcoming and friendly. Showed us around the room and the pub and how to gain access after hours. Was a comfortable room, clean and fresh. Bed was comfortable and just what we expected. Good value for money. Good location. There was nothing that we didn't like during our stay at The Cricketers arms.
- Ken (8/5): Charming room above charming pub - Cosy and charming room stylishly done out on top of a lovely looking pub.
- Phil (9/5): Friendly & helpful staff - well located - Convenient to everything including bowes museum
- Charlotte (2/5): Don’t book it you want a restful stay. Pay the extra money for a high end hotel that will be quiet - The bar staff that welcomes us was extremely friendly and gave recommendations for nice food for later. The location was also ideal for the wedding we were attending. We booked this room to have a comfortable stay before a wedding we were a huge part of and had been planned for two years. We did not sleep at all the night before due to the loud pub beneath our room. There was noise until 3.30am and we even had white noise on to block this out. Then after 3.30 the couple next door to us have forgotten the instructions we were advised about how to access the properly after closing time. They hammered on the front door for a little while before using the garage entry that we had been given a key for. Some of the plugs also did not work so when getting ready for the wedding this became challenging as we had to share areas to get ready if we both needs the hairdryer or to charge our phones. The biggest thing was the no sleep. If we had known the pub had lock ins and the potential of ruing our experience we would never have booked this hotel. We were not well rested in the slightest which is a huge shame. Yes it was 80 pounds but to be kept up all night isn’t really on.
- Scott (10/5): - Stayed here after a wedding down the road, staff and locals were lovely, even came back after the wedding and played pool and darts with a few local lads, very nice👌🏼

- carowat (5/5): Not for the fainthearted - The location was great. The shower was clean and a good size. There was only 1 member of staff available to check us in. The bedroom had a very damp wall on one side and there was no seat for the dressing table. Only 2 hangers were provided to hang clothes and the bed linen had seen better days. In the morning a cleaner entered our room without knocking using their own key. This was 2 hours before the stated check out time of 11am. The only way to exit the property in the morning, was down a steep fire escape and through the garage.

Clean, nicely decorated and comfortable room The entrance and exit outside of the pub hours was through the side garage, it worked but felt a bit odd.
- Mary (9/5): -
- Carol (10/5): Relaxed, easy with a very comfortable bed! - The staff there were friendly and very helpful.
The room I stayed in was lovely. Clean and very nicely decorated and cozy.
The bed was so comfy!
The room was above the pub but it was really quiet and because the window was double glazed I didn't hear the traffic either.
I'd asked for the quietest room and they were right!
The location was great, as it was just up from the busy part of Barnard Castle High Street but everything is still on your door step.
Overall I enjoyed my stay, I slept well and I'd definitely go back again to The Cricketers Arms. I can't actually think of anything!

- Dodds (9/5): very good - did not have time to have a breakfast as my friends had get back hoome
- Neil (5/5): It served a purpose but would not stay again if I visit this area again. - Location was good in respect of where we were going and in the vicinity of the town centre. After hours, access to the room is a bit of a trek through a garage and up fire escape stairs. No breakfast is available.
- Stephen (8/5): Really Convenient, Really Historical. - No breakfast, just the room. A nice 'locals' pub, but there was no noise after 10. The pub is directly opposite the house where C. Northcote Parkinson grew up. He was the author of the famous Parkinson's Law. That's unique! There is a lot of history in the town, and the locals were very chatty. No Complaints whatsoever.

- Lynn (8/5): Barnard Castle Accommodation - We very much enjoyed staying at The Cricketers Arms. Our room was well laid out with a very comfortable bed and spacious en-suite bathroom. Our welcoming host helped carry our bags to our room. Despite overlooking the fairly busy road, there was no traffic noise. There were nice little touches in the room such as a fan should it get too warm and a small heater should the temperature drop. We didn't need either but it was nice to see that they'd been provided.
Parking the car was also easy as we got a (free) place in the street right outside. There is no food at the pub but we found a great fish and chip shop just down the road that fitted the bill!
Barnard Castle is an interesting town with some lovely little shops. The nearby Bowes Museum is fascinating and well worth a visit. There was nothing we didn't like.
