- GARY (7/5): I found the only thing I liked about my stay was the shower and the staff. - I did not have breakfast. I don’t think breakfast was included but I checked out early. The shower was the best part of the room. Also the staff were great. I didn’t like the floors in the room, which were hard on the feet if not wearing shoes. I didn’t like the hard desk chair, which was very uncomfortable. I didn’t like that they only had shampoo and body wash in the shower in containers and not individually sealed packages. The bed was low and hard to get out of the bed because too low for me.

Also, if you ask for it, sometimes staff forget so you'll come home to a filthy room and then have to wait another hour or so for things to be mended...

- J-LL (4/5): - Location is sort of central and accessible. The reception staff was warm and welcoming. I booked a "suite" room, with no window and a broken air conditioning. They tried to fix it but woke up to a muggy room, which was humid and smelly. I was awakened by a loud conflab of four staff yapping through the morning in the common area in a windowless corridor. Thankfully I only booked for a night, but never again. Before the tiny elevator, you need a few steps up from the street and the tiny reception area; so if you have heavy suitcases, skip this hotel.

- Kasha-may (5/5): Passable - We stayed on two separate occasions, both just for around 7 hours so we could shower and catch up on sleep. The two rooms we stayed in were perfect, clean, spacious and amazing showers showers compared to other hotels we stayed at in Philippines. The hotel location is central and close to good restaurants but it is a kind of dodgy red light district? So if you’re a family I would stay somewhere else as we were only there for not long and not overnight it wasn’t an issue. Both times we encountered one member of reception staff who was quite passive aggressive and very unhelpful, in any questions or queries we had. I also messaged about possibly arranging a late check out as we weren’t arriving until 3 am and this request was completely ignored which is fine but then the next day we had some transport issues and we needed to arrange a taxi to Batangas but the staff said it would be too expensive and weren’t helpful. It’s a shame as the hotel itself is lovely.

The only downside was that we booked breakfast and was told that it was fully booked. The receptionist gave us a generous refund and we just popped to the Starbucks round the corner instead.
- Kris (6/5): Probably a good stay if not in room 101 - The hotel itself looks very nice from the outside and lobby. Room 101 is no too amazing because there is no sound barrier from the room to reception, you can hear people opening the door to and from reception and to the lobby and also hear people talking very easily. There is also no window in the room so it feel like a cave but the room was very clean and comfy beyond those issues.

Superb Staff - What can I say, this sits right in the heart of Poblacion, which is one of the most thriving and lively area in Makati, where all the actions are. About the place, it's pretty decent, staff are phenomenal, and goes above and beyond. Quenie and Mica are amazing. Also the rates are very affordable, no breakfast tho, but not a problem since it's surrounded by restaurants in all price levels.

The hotel is modern and stylish, the staff welcoming and helpfull. Lobby is relaxing and modern design, with a outside terrace with high table and small tables for waiting and relaxing. Rooms are nice and cosy, good bed and a couch, also safety deposit box in good quality. The bathroom was clean, stylish and good equipment. Toilet has build in bedet like the japanese style version. I can recommend this hotel, price was good on hotels.com.

Sadly I won't be back. - Loved the ground staff as usual however managerial staff did nothing to address an obvious overpayment which would have been easily resolved instead of costing the customer an extra US260 As a long times user of the Durban Hotel standards have dropped. The ‘Deluxe’ room was probably the worst room in the hotel, the shower and toilet being barely able to be accessed. Faults to ongoing water issues with the toilet were addressed but not resolved. Complimentary coffee and tea do not exist. The so called ‘restaurant’ chooses its own hours, we found much better service from the surrounding competition.

No dining in the facility itself but surrounded with lots of good restaurants around it. Room cold, water pressure is excellent. Very clean. Looks newly renovated. Very cheap. Money changers are great down stairs. Will come back.

- level30k (8/5): Nice and clean , solid budget option in Poblacion area of Makati - Hotel Durban is in the heart of Poblacion area in Makati in a side street near all bars , clubs and reastaurants. Standard rooms are basic with adequate size and basic amenities , bed is comfortable , air on is working well , safe is big enough for laptops and all your valuables , there’s a fridge and the TV has a surprising choice of international and local channels (all with good definition , this is not always the case in other more expensive hotels in this area). Some other traveler commented that WiFi wasn’t stable but we never experienced any issue during our 2 days stay. Most rooms are windowless , this is an advantage as you can’t hear anything from Poblacion’s busy street life, on the other side the room does are thin so if there are noisy people on the corridors you can notice them easily (also because otherwise the ambient is really peaceful). Bathroom is ok with basic amenities (a dispenser for shampoo and one for shower gel) , but has small shower cabins with doors opening inwards which make it difficult for normal people to close the door once inside , so we had to shower with open shower cabin which is ok. All the staff from reception , housekeeping, up to hotel manager is very nice , helpful , and always in a good mood. Just as a recap , hotel is nice , absolutely clean , no frill but with all important amenities and services. Definitely the best budget option in this area!
