Guest Reviews
- R8081WXadamk (10/5): Gone out of my way to stop here - Had a great stay again. I went out of my way to stay here. The room was clean and tidy. Booked a room to look over the car park to view my van. Staff were friendly and polite
- scochar (6/5): Needs a good clean - Friendly staff but room was not clean, dirty bedding, spills of liquid down walls, dust everywhere, dirt down walls in the shower. Noise from room above, dogs barking running around above room. Some rooms downstairs looked messy from outside(curtains)
- Gingertraveler84 (10/5): parkrun touring - A quick overnight stay at this travelodge. It's very central but most importantly a 15/20 minute walk to the local parkun for those tourists looking for the I. This is something that the manager has clearly got on board with and has a photo sign and gives guest a little goodie bag. Honestly it's the first time I've seen this in a hotel and definitely a selling point. The staff chat about it and seem genuinely interested.
The room itself was a good size and clean. What more can you want?
Would I go back? If I'm in the area again at parkrun then most definitely, I'll also recommend the hotel to others attending that event.
- E5100PYjuliej (10/5): Amazing stay credit to the staff - Stayed here on 14 February over night me and my husband and as soon as we walked in such a warm friendly atmosphere staff were so welcoming the room was spotless lovely hot shower staff couldn’t do enough thank you for are lovely stay will be back in April
- tobygriff21 (10/5): Clean with Friendly Staff - Ok, it's a Travelodge, it's on a retail park. BUT! We booked in for one night as my wife had a hospital appointment early the next mornig. Booking in, we were greeted by the Hotel Manager Duncan Keenan, who was extremely welcoming and very friendly and chatty. As this lodge does not have a bar/restaurant, Duncan quickly recommended some eateries in the town of Stafford within walking distance. However, if you merely want fast food, the place is surrounded by all the big names. This lodge was very smart, very tidy and very clean. The room was equally so. Comfortable, clean, tastefully decorated, and the window opened! A very quiet and peaceful night was had. That's it really, but the purpose of this review was to mention Duncan and his staff, who all gave hospitality a good name, and they are a credit to this chain. 5*
- neosave (10/5): Great experience - A really lovely (newly refurbished) hotel. The staff were fantastic, so helpful and welcoming. It is central with shops and places to eat nearby. About a 20min walk from train station. Such good value. I would highly recommend.
- Charliewf21 (10/5): Great stay - Wonderful staff on desk who are very helpful and polite, Alison was very kind and helpful and assisted us with the parking machines when we struggled. Room was lovely and clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again
- adamkG9631TA (10/5): Just love stopping here! - Had another great stopover! Nothing is ever to much trouble for staff. Kindly organised a taxi to town for us and recommended a lovely place to eat. We will be back soon
- courtneymH7669HA (6/5): Jasmine was amazing however management duncan and alison discriminate. Do not stay here if your disabled. - Duncan and alison both discriminated against myself but I carnt go into details on here about that at the minute as the case is currently with solicitors to sue this travel lodge however if you are disabled & autistic then you are much better to stay clear of this hotel because of duncan and alison. They had a severe impact on my mental health and also my situation/life as a whole.
The location is great rooms were an ok size but not much storage in them. I was placed here by the Council due to being homeless so the storage would be ok for someone staying a short stay. I stayed from the end of december up until the middle of jan. I am a disabled young women with multiple health issues.
The downside to this hotel is there is no laudrette nearby within walking distance but there is a taco bell, kfc, burger king also home bargains on the same retail park.
There is a vending machine in the reception which is expensive but does drinks and chocolate.
The room when I first arrived was clean and bedding was clean.
Their isnt an actual plug socket next to the bed but is usb ports so you can still charge your phone/laptop however it charges extremely slow so you are better of taking an extention lead with you about a 4m length to be able to charge your phone or laptop if you want to use it at the same time as it charging.
Jasmine the lady on reception was kind caring helpful and all round a credit to travelodge. Nothing was to much trouble for her and I had spoken to her alot. She was so supportive and understanding. I stayed with my cat penny who loved jasmine too. I had spent hours just chatting to her and she really did make my situation 100x better. She didnt have to spend the time she did with me as shes a receptionist at the hotel but she did. There was times where I would of quite easily ended up in an even worse state mentally had it not have been for jasmine's support. I am autistic too which makes things difficult and jasmine did seem to understand my autism and troubles with my physical health too. Honestly I really hope she moves onto a company who actually cares for its customers/staff as she really deserves a better company than the travel lodge Central stafford if that is what she wants to go. She will go far in life with her attitude care and attention that she provides to the people staying at the travel lodge.
Charlie on reception i didnt really speak to much (mainly on nights) however he was pleasant and polite whenever I did speak to him and if I needed anything he would always help no matter what time of night it was.
YanLi I didnt really speak to much but she seemed to be pleasant and polite and again was helpful whenever I needed something.
Mark I found ok polite and helpful at first however his attitude changed a few weeks into my stay despite me not doing anything wrong and he made me feel extremely uncomfortable with how his attitude changed.
Zayne I thought was helpful and polite however there was an issue at the end of my stay where he breached my gdpr in relation to a very serious matter that happened at the hotel so a complaint has gone in relation to this gdpr and also a complaint will be made to the ico because If I was to report this issue to the police then this could of impacted a police investigation ontop of that this left me even more vunerable whilst I stayed at the hotel for the last few nights of my stay.
Ruby who is a supervisor at travel lodge in tretham did some shifts whilst I was there. She is so lovely polite and helpful and so chatty which really does make a difference.
There was a strong smell of weed in the corridor from a council staying guest which management didnt really seem to be doing anything about apart from to tell staff to spray air freshner to mask the smell.
This hotel accepts pets including dogs and cats.
- 559emmanj (10/5): Great little find for a family stay! - Passing through the countryside and stayed for one night. Hotel was renovated in Aug 2025 and it’s excellent value for money. Reasonable paid parking too. Area has excellent dining options, lovely town, friendly people. Shopping options too. A bit sad we never stayed more than one night. Best Travelodge we have come across, for cleanliness, quietness and value!
- Welshcop (10/5): Always a great stay at this particular Travelodge - This was our 5th stay at this particular Travelodge and it was good to see many of the same staff, always a good sign for me as if the staff stay they tend to take care in the job and clearly like working there.
The manager Duncan greeted us and recognised us as previous customers straight away welcoming us back.
He ensured we understood the parking system and gav dispute room keys. We had had a great room on the second floor and as always nothing was too much trouble.
This will not be our last stay in fact we are back again this weekend.
This Travelodge has had a refit recently with all the rooms fresh and uncluttered.
For those new to staying here there is plenty of eateries in walking distance as well as a Starbucks for those that need a strong coffee first thing in the morning.
If only there was type 2 electric charging for my car it would be absolutely perfect.
- ProfessorSn (10/5): Christmas visit - family and friends - Base for post-christmas visit to Stafford family and friends. Much better than previous visit 3 years ago. New management and staff who amazing. We were welcomed around 8pm by YanLi who had just started her overnight shift. She was so welcoming and friendly and talked us through the hotel facilities and surrounding area. Our dog loved her as she gave her a complimentary pack of treats! Hotel was clean, quiet, comfortable and functional. We chose this particular Travelodge because it has a lift as didn't want to carry our dog up and down stairs. As it turned out we were on the ground floor anyway, but I'm glad we gave this hotel another chance. We were delighted with the experience. We checked out and had an equally lovely chat with Duncan, the new manager. It's clear he has made a big difference to the hotel and staff. Well done Duncan, and keep up your great attitude YanLi
- jacquid2017 (2/5): Smelly and dirty - We stayed there last night and a spoon as we arrived we noticed a strong smell of weed. Our room wasn't very clean, there was a pill on one of the chairs and hairs in the shower. The kettle was smelly and the cups weren't clean enough. We've stayed there before, but it's never been this bad - it's put me off. I would have spoken to the staff on the desk, but there was nobody around at the time.
- DayTrip65888241845 (10/5): Wonderful stay - I've stayed here before and I'll stay again. The staff are so helpful, Alison and Duncan couldn't do enough to make our stay as great as possible. The new look rooms are great and really modernised the rooms especially bathrooms. Thanks for another great stay
- Freedom64503762738 (2/5): Our experience during our first visit to Stafford - I slept but kept tossing and turning and waking up due to feeling uncomfortable being here I had a bad feeling , the smell of cannabis in the corridor and strong smells of what I can only assume was alcohol , the other big complaint of mine would also be FALSE ADVERTISING !!! when we booked the size of the TV was an ok size but on arrival found the TV to be a lot smaller , when we asked receptionist the reason to this she had told us that the rooms in hotel have different size TVs but why wasn't this stated on booking.com , and then when we asked to be moved to another room it was almost like they didn't have a clue about what they were doing and when we did move room the TV was dinky.
we had booked for two nights I would never stay here again , I also don't like travel lodge due to the fact that you only get a certain amount of free WiFi then you have to pay aswell as the fact that the breakfast option is in my eyes very basic , at least all hotels should do a buffet style breakfast offering cereals croissants fruit yogurts up to full English with free WiFi , we were moved to the accessible room which had what looked to a blood stain on the carpet , an accessible bathroom which reminded me of hospital , the carpets were old , if hotel was refurbished then why weren't the carpets replaced and tvs all the same size aswell as the little welcoming touches that make a world of difference.
yes this is a budget hotel but there should be certain standards and the hotel should still be well maintained , we are not staying the second night despite paying for two nights so this says a lot , my advice is find a better hotel if looking to stay over in Stafford , we paid £140 for two nights we wouldn't pay this again well not to stay here anyway , when I looked on booking .com to compare prices with other hotels there are hotels out there with swimming pools and half board or with breakfast included the same price or roughly a little bit more I would rather have paid a little bit extra to stay in one of those hotels however they weren't available on dates we had chosen.
the only good thing about the hotel was the curtain pole and the Christmas tree , it was good that there was lifts but I find it strange how given the fact with the smell of alcohol and cannabis on the premises there wasn't any CCTV cameras in the corridors outside rooms well we didn't see any any way and staff didn't seem to care that much about the smell of cannabis other then saying they sprayed around which isn't good enough especially for other people staying over who have to smell that , this is probably the worst hotel we've stayed at , it was bad for us especially because of our mental health autism and also the bed made my fibro flare up even more, mattress felt firm and very uncomfortable,
with basic rooms like this if you don't offer a full breakfast you should at least provide small food hampers in each room rather then charging customers extra for a small breakfast to go for £6
little touches like that can make a lot of difference , no I'm not a hotel critic but I should be , and also if there are professional cleaners they should be sacked as this place isn't the cleanest,
my husband had to clean the plug hole of the walk in shower due to it being dirty and poorly maintained , this should be done before or after each person's stay , it shouldn't just be left to get worse , the water wasn't going down properly so my husband cleaned it out as best as he could ,
there was no air conditioning , room was roasting like a sauna fair enough I understand that it's cold outside but not everyone does well in a warm environment and this also needs to be taken into consideration, even after my husband turned the heating off and having the window open all night it still didn't help which would probably explain why when we first walked in here there was a horrible dampish smell which is off putting to say the least ,
they should offer fans and other items like an hairdryer IN THE ROOM , oh there was a bottle opener , we both have autism and sensory issues aswell as anxiety and depression , I also have fibromyalgia and my husband also has asthma so being in a hot stuffy hotel room defitnately didn't help , we came here because I had to see my kids and Also for us a bit of a break away however we would have had more of a break killing ourselves walking to the moon and back (LAUGHING OUT LOUD)
please take heed of these comments as reading this and making simple improvements goes a long way you may find that if you do that you'll have a better rating and more people will want to stay , you'll even have a better turn over.
Oh and just one more thing the biscuits where are they a simple touch can make the smallest difference just a thought !!!!!!herbal teas also as not everyone drinks tea or coffee and even hot chocolate especially in the colder months
- Viksta1982 (10/5): Great Hotel, Great Staff, Great location - Stayed last night , lovely new refurbished room with a comfy bed . Manager was a welcoming and friendly .
ideal for Stafford , 10 min walk into town.
- KeithBny (10/5): Great Travelodge - Our stay at Stafford Travelodge was great. The manager (Duncan) and his team could not have been more helpful and considerate. This Travelodge is well managed with a lot of care and thought going into maintaining a clean and friendly environment as well as those all important little extras such as welcome bags for children and dogs.
- IanScott1866 (10/5): Looks good after refurbishment - Stayed for two nights. Clean and comfy after refushbishment. Friendly and helpful staff on arrival. Quiet room on the back of the hotel.
- D8721JXericw (10/5): Good service from Travelodge. - Everything went to plan - staff were welcoming and talkative.
Hotel was clean and restful.
Had the mis-fortune of leaving some bits in the room when I left.
Phone call to hotel was answered by Duncan who handled it well and sent my bits by post to my home address.
- 718beings (10/5): Lost incident handled with extreme care and professionalism - Almost 24hrs after the checkout, I found out that I had lost my Garmin watch and hoped I must have left it back at the hotel. Went back to enquire, the staff diligently asked about the item description to confirm the ownership and yes it had been found earlier and left at the reception with honesty. I was relieved - extremely appreciative and delighted at such a kind helpfulness of the hotel/staff. Thank you so much, will definitely stay again in the future.
Rooms were spacious enough for a family of 3. Located at a walking diatance from a nice little town centre - enjoyed the riverside walk to the Park and had a delicious breakfast in the town!
- adamkG9631TA (10/5): Fantastic stop over - Overnight stop over whilst in the area. My van was securely parked. Staff friendly. Easy access from motorway. Will return for sure!
- R5777DCjacko (10/5): Great stay and great customer service from Harry - Great experience, Harry was very good and informative, and showed great customer service. And the room was in amazing clean condition.
- 191mubaraks (10/5): Great Experience - Thanks to Yanli for her welcoming and hospitality.
My experience is as per my high expectations whenever l visit Travelodge.
- 692merielf (10/5): Stafford road trip - Convenient for Stafford show ground. Very dog friendly, I was given little treat bags. Staff (Mark & Duncan) were very welcoming and helpful, I will be back in December.
- Ajay279x (4/5): Sniff a Whiff Hotel - Cheesy, stinky feet smell in room 2 hits the nose and makes your eyes water when you walk. Not going to lie - I dry heaved a few times. Sprayed perfume, body spray and even considered retrieving car air freshener. That said, room looks clean, location good and reception was welcoming. For the price paid £51 - it's not to be sniffed at - literally don't sniff.
- carolannm768 (10/5): Amazing place to stay. - This was our second visit here. The room was spotless and very comfortable. It was the friendly staff that made the visit extra special, giving us great advice on places to visit and where to eat. A great team lead by Duncan. We are already planning our next trip.
- Dream20333009279 (10/5): Kindness of staff when I was taken ill - I showed up unannounced and asked for a room on Sunday afternoon (19 October 2025) after feeling unwell on a train journey home. The staff were efficient and kept an eye on me when things took a turn for the worse and paramedics had to be called out. It took my husband a few hours to reach me and the hotel staff were unfailingly kind and professional until he arrived. I appreciated it very much and it speaks well of the quality of staff that you recruit. Please pass on my heartfelt thanks.
- I6767FDcarls (10/5): Travelodgical - Great place to stay staff are all helpful.
Easy to find all local amenities and a great price.
When I need a room this is always my go to place
- bessiebairstow (8/5): Stafford Classic bike show - Clean and comfortable stay with helpful friendly staff, paying for a day's parking when I was out all day not to happy with, all in all good value
- 686clydec (10/5): Helpful staff and excellent service - I’ve booked it wrong dates by mistake and we realised it when arrive the hotel. HARRY who is in charge in reception was very helpful and kind. He sorted it out quickly and he gave our rooms keys. The hotel is very clean and enjoyed it.
- amied409 (10/5): Yanli is an asset - On arrival at the hotel, our first point of contact was Yanli who I rate as above excellent. She is an asset to the business as a first point of contact, speaking as an owner of businesses myself. She went above and beyond the call of duty for us and even sorted out the car parking for us! To which I will add that next time we are in the area we will be using the hotel again thanks to Yanli. Tony room 202 04/10/2025
- V4567KPjanem (10/5): Short Stay - This hotel is very central to the town centre, it is clean and tidy. The reception staff were very helpful. The manager was really helpful as we didn't read the signs correctly in the car park and received a parking fine. He very kindly sorted out the issue with Horizon parking for us. I would recommend this hotel.
- YMCumbria (10/5): Excellent Travelodge - Had a very comfortable stay at Travelodge Stafford Central.Well located and room very comfortable.Slept well-room quiet and bed comfortable. What sets this Travelodge apart is the staff.Yan li who checked us in was so warm and welcoming, yet still professional and informative.Duncan, the manager was also very friendly and helpful.
- MichaelH2396 (8/5): Good value for money - As a budget hotel, it did not disappoint. It was comfortable, clean and was ‘no frills’ good value for money
- denise032 (10/5): An overnight stay - An overnight stay whilst visiting friends!
The receptionist was pleasant and we were given a quiet room at the rear of the hotel. Our room was spotlessly clean and quiet.
- workd186 (2/5): Loud cleaners - Check out is at 12pm. On multiple occasions the cleaners have knocked on my door earlier than check out time i did say it’s not check out yet as it was still not 12pm it was around 11:15am however the cleaner was rude and ignored me and knocked again then decided to wait outside my door until I got out making me feel very uncomfortable I felt like my privacy was invaded and felt like I was rushed to leave even tho I still had time left to be stay in my room that I paid for. It’s also very loud in the corridors due to house keepers yelling to one another I don’t think they are mindful enough to understand people are trying to sleep. Toilets are not cleaned properly. The shower had hair which made me want to avoid using it. There is a lot of dust on the table seems like it was not wiped down.
- J3617OGkarens (10/5): Fantastic stay, thank you. - Wow what a lovely welcome we had, the children were given a packet of sweets by Harry (receptionist). Beautiful rooms, we had 1 family room for 2 adults 2 children and 1 accessible room for 1 adult. When we got to the hotel, we found out we were on different floors. Normally we wouldn’t mind but Nan is poorly so I decided to sleep in her room with her, however my daughter decided she wanted to sleep in there too with me. I went to reception where I was greeted by Harry,
He couldn’t be more helpful, I asked if we could have an extra bed for nans room and he went to check if they had anymore. Which there wasn’t. I asked if I could bring the bed down from our family room and he said absolutely, with that he helped us bring the bed and bedding down. He is an asset to the hotel. He deserves some recognition from Travelodge for making our stay amazing. Thank you 🙂
- jch872025 (10/5): Perfect stay for Alton Towers visit - Good value for money, perfect for if visiting Alton Towers. Plenty of food choices close to hotel. Room was clean and smelt like it had been recently painted and had new carpets
- K2284SWsashab (10/5): Stay at Travelodge Stafford for DTI Christian Youth Conference - The staff who worked in reception Alison and Duncan were very friendly, welcoming and attentive to my needs on arrival. I asked if I could leave my luggage at reception, as I would be checking in later that evening. I had arrived early and there were no problems with this request.
You could tell by how they interacted with each other and guests arriving and leaving the hotel that they worked well as a team. They were knowledgeable with advice regarding local places to visit and provided me with a telephone number for a trusted local taxi service.
My stay was peaceful and my room was clean and I received fresh towels when requested.
Alison and Duncan had a lovely sense of humour and I would recommend a stay at the Stafford Central Travelodge. Thank you
- bethwyn23 (8/5): wonderful staff but disturbed sleep - Very friendly staff and welcoming, hotel was clean and had all that was needed. Only negative was the early wake up from lorries outside the hotel in the early hours.
- laurajgreaves (10/5): Great for Parkrun visitors! - A great location for anyone visiting Isabel Trail Parkrun- a pleasant sub 30min walk to the start and places to eat the night before.
Bonus props for photo opportunities and ‘recovery’ kits for park runners makes for a nice touch!
- U8988SLdeanw (10/5): Well looked after environment lovely staff - Brilliant staff very helpful and kind through out my few weeks of being here . Manager is very helpful polite and wil go above and beyond to please customers exactly the Same for all receptionists and cleaners very nice place to stay!
- adamkG9631TA (10/5): Great location - Stopped here due to the location to the train station. We attended the oasis gig in Manchester. We checked in early and caught the train to Manchester. The staff were excellent and room was spacious and clean. Will do it again!
- silver0123 (4/5): It could be a lot better - The reception should always have someone available, the breakfast box is a snack box and you can get a better breakfast from the Asda which isn't too far. There is no fridge, there is no ironing board, the tv is almost the same size of my sons tablet. Room temperature control is coded and there is no telephone in the room.
I thought the bed was poor (too soft and bouncy), the room had a bad smell which my son kept complaining about. The bath tub was dirty on the bottom.
- lukegI5944CW (10/5): Brilliant - Stayed at the Travelodge for 3 weeks, split across 2 months. Every day I was greeted by Ruby. I would like to commend her excellent customer service, she was very friendly and solved all issues I had. She deserves recognition from Travelodge. (and a new fan that isn't crushed)
- Roam32079291389 (10/5): Business trip to Stafford Central - Staff were all excellent but special praise must go to Ruby who continually went above and beyond to ensure the stay was entertaining. That girl deserves a raise and a chair that doesn't move when she stands up.
- Nas98765 (4/5): Avoid, no value for money - Parking £4.20
WIFI £3.5
Breakfast £5.samll room
toilet stinking with urine
No airconditioning
I have summarised every thing so make an informed decision
- lynnkV6248DH (10/5): My Christmas stay - Best place to stay no grandkids just me so nice
Nice shower bed was cosy and the people there very helpful
Would go there xx
- M868XRchrisd (10/5): Friendly and clean - I have stayed here a few times and the team here never fail to make my weekend a great one, always helpful and friendly. A short walk to town and some shops are even closer. Now there is a Burger king aswell as the KFC and taco bell! Close to Stafford park too which I enjoy strolling through on a sunny afternoon. Hotel is always clean and the price is amazing
- DayTrip65888241845 (10/5): Great little hotel - I stay here regularly and it's always very clean and the staff are very welcoming. It's well situated for the town or food and I always enjoy my stay. I will be returning as have stayed in many places which don't compare to the price and quality here
- tessroebuck3 (8/5): Happy with this stay - I couldn't fault the location or staff.
Lots of choice for food too
The room was clean and tidy, with plenty of space
- Sightsee01062598978 (10/5): One night stay - Traveled from the wirral to have repairs done on my car ..great location..catered for me and my little dog.. she even got a bag of treats on arrival.
Good night's sleep lovely shower in morning..
- MusicianMan2022 (2/5): Vile horrid place !! - The room stunk of urine
Filthy
Sheets stunk
Pillows uncomfortable
Noisy
Banging at 8am onwards of doors
Cleaners in hallway noisy
No phone signal
Had to pay for parking !!
- Davemadge (10/5): Great budget, dog friendly, experience. - Nice budget hotel, close to the town. Duncan, the manager, was very helpful. Hotel is very dog friendly. Room was clean and comfortable but a bit cramped. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay with your dog this hotel is great. Would also recommend the nearby Sun Inn for food.
- isabelledY7477WE (10/5): Amazing service - We stayed over in Stafford for a night for a family event we booked early check in and We were welcomed by the lovely and polite Alison she helped us with signing we needed she told us what was around and the service was amazing definitely recommend
- sophwad (10/5): Top Ten Travelodge - As Travelodges go, this is definitely one of the best. Really helpful staff (especially Alison and her colleague) a very clean room and it felt like they'd spaced the guest out to not intrude on each other and so at bedtime the place was silent.
My room was at the back with an entire view of a Beech bush. Sounds weird, but it was really calm & relaxing! I'll definitely stay again.
- normanjosh19 (10/5): Lovely location - Great location near train station, nice few pubs a short walk away gutted no bar on site, manger was lovely
- tanaye2025 (10/5): Amazing manager - This review is for the fantastic manager
Duncan Keenan
Hotel Manager
After having a park ticket from the parking company. Even tho I paid for parking and calling up about is at the start of 2024 from the old manager telling me it would of been sorted and not to worry as I paid. To then get a solicitor letter for a fine and more payments because the old manager didn't even try to sort it in the first place as you can expect I was not happy at all. So I emailed the new manager about this and thankfully after all his hard work he got this all sorted for me thank you soo much Duncan Keenan the Hotel Manager for sorting this for me.
So for this im giving it 5 stars for the helpful manager
- S1930XRpeterr (10/5): Ideal location for Hospital - We stayed at this Travelodge to attend the County Hospital for planned surgery. It was ideally placed just a few minutes from the hospital and surrounded by shops, so plenty to keep my other half entertained.
- johnhO4887PJ (10/5): Reception made the difference - Our visit was made special by the care and attention taken by Duncan. Very friendly and helpful as well as informative. Wish every hotel we stayed at had a Duncan.
The only downside was the shower did not have an extractor ( or it wasn’t working) but otherwise all good. Great location.
- T9448UPamanda (10/5): Clean room, friendly staff - Clean rooms, friendly and professional staff. Stayed in April and May, can highly recommend and will stay in the future.
- CRMR_12 (10/5): Great value for money comfortable stay - Great location for us visiting the area. Eady parking. Fantastic staff, really friendly and helpful with local recommendations. We had a room in the back of the building, first floor, was quiet and looked out to trees. Couldn't fault it, would stay again.
- Carolinerasell (4/5): Needs updating/renewing - Sadly the mattress was awful, definitely older than 10 years. Not worth the price. Plug sockets could do with bringing up to date, with USB connections. Would I stay again, no!
- geepee7 (6/5): Fine for one night stopover - The hotel was a bit further off the M6 motorway than we had initially wanted - heading south. However, it was fine for one night. Check in was easy and staff pleasant. The room was very basic though and I think not updated as much as the Travelodge we had stayed at on the way up. It was clean though and we slept fine.
- hannahjZ8892LX (8/5): Good service - Good service overall. However, there can be more options for breakfast, with options for non-vegetarian meals. Otherwise excellent hospitality by the staff, particularly Mr Duncan and Team. The room service was prompt on a daily basis with excellent wifi connectivity.
- R8081WXadamk (10/5): Couldn't do enough - A recent unplanned trip to the hotel. I was rushed into hospital and my partner required a place to stop for two nights. She was well looked after and felt completely safe! Staff helped with everything. Excellent value and was ideal location for the hospital.
- 534rebeccad (2/5): Worst hotel stay ever - The sheet in my bed was full of holes and Not clean, when I noticed this at night time there was no staff at the desk to report it to you. I have to sleep on top of The bed with a towel as a cover. The hotel room itself was dirty, There were tea stains down the back of the desk going down the wall and the bathroom was terrible. I have taken photos and will be escalating it further normally I’m pretty easy-going but it was just too much.
- isabelmohan (10/5): A budget hotel with staff who go above and beyond - We stayed here on a Friday night to visit the local parkrun "Isabel Trail" on Saturday morning and, much to our delight, discovered that the manager had recently introduced "parkrun recovery parks" containing some sweets, chocs and mints, which they give out to any parkrun tourists who happen to be staying (they get quite a few due to people trying to visit parkruns for every letter of the alphabet, because there aren't many starting with an "i"!). I posted a pic of my pack on a parkrun tourism Facebook group and my post has over 1200 likes and counting from parkrun fanatics who've never encountered anything so thoughtful and fun and now all want to stay here!
When you book a budget chain hotel, you don't expect this level of service at all, so it was such a delightful surprise and made us leave with the impression that Stafford was a fun, friendly, warm and welcoming place. In fact, this wasn't the only nice touch - the staff in general were really friendly, telling us about nice places to go in the town too, a level of service you would expect at much fancier hotels!
The hotel itself was absolutely fine, just a standard Travelodge, and only about a 15 minute walk from the town centre (as well as a nice warm-up jog from parkrun just over a mile away!). Plus there are lots of amenities nearby as it's on a big retail park.
Thanks so much!
