Guest Reviews
- Melina (8/5): -
- Yuhua (3/5): It’s not good for guests who want a quiet place to take a rest. - The staff Natasha is very kind and friendly. It’s very noisy, even until 12 midnight. Most guests still talk loudly in public area.
The room is not soundproof enough.
The kitchen and bathroom are not clean.
- Oscar (10/5): - Sundancers is fantastic hostel, everything you need to live comfortably while working around Perth. Attracts a good chilled crowd that’s a lot of fun. Would recommend to anyone in the area. Staff are wonderful. Don’t let Oli scare you, he’s a big softy really. Big love xox
- Giada Michelle (10/5): - I really liked it because it's very clean and well-organized. The common areas are spacious and there are areas for relaxing, socializing, and playing games, depending on your needs. The rooms have everything I needed, and I could request clean sheets whenever I needed them.
- Mio (8/5): great vibes with great people - everything was neat and tidy desks and chairs can be sticky and saw many cockroaches
- Jennifer (5/5): Uncomfortable - The guy who checked me in (sorry I didn’t catch his name) was very helpful and helped with my bags. I liked that you get your own back of plates and cutlery - but they weren’t clean The room was tiny with hardly any room to move around. - very dingy. I found everyone staying there knew each other and weren’t welcoming/friendly. The kitchen doesn’t close so people were there late into the night shouting really loud. I had to stand for over 20 minutes at the desk before someone came to check me out.

- Julie (9/5): - I enjoyed my stay here
Well maintained European style building with high ceiling and colorful stained windows. Thoughtful decoration arrangement consist of art works, craftwork, plants, Souvenir and many more. A few cats live here FOR FREE!!!(Just kidding, I am not jealous at all)
Good vibes, spacious public area, beautiful backyard with many plants, chill staff and many indoor activities to do with fellow travelers.
- PEI CHEN (7/5): 地點方便,公共空間很不錯 - 地點方便、服務人員友善 樓下交誼空間沒有有效控管時間與音量,半夜還有大聲交談、唱歌與彈鋼琴,影響睡眠。

- Alessandro (10/5): - Honestly loved my stay here. The hostel has a really relaxed vibe, and there’s always somewhere nice to sit and chat or just chill on your own. The pool area is perfect on sunny days, and inside there’s plenty to do if the weather isn’t great. Everything was clean, and I mean clean especially compared to most hostels I’ve stayed at in Australia. The kitchen was pretty big and well organised, and my room was super comfy. The staff are friendly and easy to talk to, and they helped me out with tips for Fremantle and Perth. The location couldn’t be better, close to the beach, shops, and the train station. Met some great people here, would 100% come back
- SHIN-CHEN (10/5): -
- Emma (1/5): The property had a hole above the reception with wires falling through the roof. The top bunks don’t have side rails. A - The location was great, in walking distance to the beach and the train station. The property had a hole above the reception with wires falling through the roof. The top bunks don’t have side rails. A unknown $50 cash bond was required when checking in. The room smelt really strongly of noodles and the toilet facilities were also unclean. I don’t recommend staying here. Not worth the money, I ended up checking out and staying elsewhere.
- Tarek (7/5): Really nice facilities and common areas, but showers are not warm in winter time :( - Pretty good location and facilities The showers can be much much warmer, now that we are in winter time, the showers were not warm at all and that a really bad point. Mattress could be a bit better
- Charlie (8/5): Unreal meeting with people, memorie for life - Vibes there is sick, everyone friendly! A little cold by moment in winter time
- Travis (5/5): Passable - Nice building and central location. Lots of potential. Cool fish tank and cats a nice touch. Not clean and often reeked of drugs. No plugs near top bunks. Limited shelving in rooms and weirdly only take cash on arrival so good luck if you arrive after a long day of travel without cash. Very rowdy until late especially on the weekends. Shower slimy. Also good luck if you need something from reception, you'll be standing a good while waiting until someone happens to come past.
- Amazir (10/5): Exceptional - Still the best hostel vibes in town, 100% worth it
- Grayt1 (8/5): Very good -
- Harry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annabelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Don (8/5): Very good -
- Clement (10/5): Great place in the centre of Fremany - Great staff, great place, very well-located and clean. There is also a swimming-pool !
- Chloé (4/5): Could be better - Location is ideal to visit. I know that the prices are quite low but still, some basic stuff could be improved. Access to electrical sockets from the bed would be great (only one power board was hanging along the cupboard to share with the lower bed), no curtains around the bed and the mattress was so flat. Not really comfortable.
Then, the bathrooms were outdated and were not particularly clean.
It doesn’t feel right to give a deposit in cash at arrival when it wasn’t mentioned when booking online.
Overall, the place has a great potential but it feels no one wants to make an effort to keep the place in good condition. That’s a shame because the building is rather beautiful.
- Mario (9/5): Superb -
- Olivan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kieran (10/5): Exceptional - There wasn't a breakfast provided however the kitchen and equipment proved was perfect for being able to cook my own meals in the morning.
- Molly (10/5): Exceptional - Super big, friendly hostel with a nice chilled vibe. Clean bathrooms and kitchen, great place to stay and meet amazing people.
- Maphosa (5/5): Good - Good Restaurant
- Guinevere (7/5): Good -
- Kate (10/5): I’ve had the best 9 months staying here and really would recommend to anyone. Super friendly people. - Socialable with really great energy and accommodating staff. Nothing
- Louise (2/5): Everything looks dodgy in this hostel, bathrooms are DISGUSTING. - Staff is nice and very friendly.
- Megan (10/5): A backpackers dream - Lovely staff, (especially Ollie who's a legend) they are always around to help and look after you. The place feels like home, very social and the rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. There's a real community here. The kitchen is clean and spacious too. Also the location is perfect with a walk to the beach, so glad I ended up at Sundancer 🌞
- Stefan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful
- Pinja (6/5): Not great - Good location, big common areas, wifi worked well. The room was quite crammed, no air con, other guests often left the door wide open! The kitchen was really dirty most of the time (tbh there was no cloths etc to even clean up after yourself?!). Bathrooms could've been cleaner too. Noisy at night as it's right by a busy street.
- Louise (10/5): Was a really pleasant stay with a lovely staff, the place is beautiful and well organised, nod to the kittiesss - Clean, organised, really nice staff and beautiful common spaces nothing, everything was good!
- Lea (9/5): i really enjoyed staying here! its a nice athmosphere in the backpacker and its in the middle of fremantle! -
- Cindy (6/5): Good set up for those travelling the backpacker lifestyle. If you’re afraid of heat like me I’d skip it! - Great location, friendly atmosphere & well set up for backpackers No aircon or fans. Temp for the day was 30 the room was a hot box. The bathrooms were as clean as they should be for hostel.
- Melanie (10/5): Best hostel in Freo - I had an amazing week stay at this hostel in the heart of Fremantle! Everything was spotless, the staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help, and the location couldn’t be more perfect for exploring Freo.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it easy to feel at home. The facilities are modern and impeccably maintained, with a standout feature being the pool—a true lifesaver for relaxing in the heat. Multiple TVs and communal spaces also added to the comfort and entertainment options.
I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a clean, well-equipped, and centrally located place to stay in Fremantle. Can’t wait to come back! Nothing !
- Luigi (8/5): Very good -
- Lena (6/5): Decent - Very social hostel! Overpriced for 1 bed in a 10 person dorm! Booking didn't indicate that the dorm I booked was a 10 person dorm, so that was a surprise when I entered the room.
- Tilman (10/5): Good vibes, nice people - Perfect location - pretty much right in the middle of Fremantle, 5min walk to next grocery store, surrounded by tons of bars
Very friendly staff - helped me out to stay long term, always down for a chat and even give u advice if you’re looking for a job
Other guests are legends, good mix between newbies and long term people
They even have a small gym which u can use for feee
But what’s outstanding for me is the backyard area which is super comfy, with heaps of plants, sofas and a pool Kitchen got sometimes a bit too busy to cook but I guess that’s part of staying in a hostel
- Katharina (7/5): Good - Good hostel in the middle of everything, very friendly staff, large communal areas. Kitchen was messy and dirty at all times.
- Anfriel (7/5): Good - The location was great - near to the shops and train station. I like how we are given lockers and our own cutleries. The room I stayed in was parallel to the street and a pub, which made it closer to the noise outside. And the upper bunk bed lacked side railings, posing a safety concern.
- Megan (8/5): Very good - Lots of amenities and many large social areas
- Servane (6/5): Nice but not for everyone - Beautiful place with a very good location and lots of different area (pool, video games, big tv, lots of place to sit, outside area). The staff at the reception is really nice Way too many people. I came back from a 3 months journey in a small town in the outback and it was so overwhelming. Lots of people living there so they already know each other and it’s difficult to make friends. If you’re new in Australia I suggest to go to a smaller hostel. The bathrooms are a little dirty. You have to make your own bed (so careful if you arrive late at night). But the worst part was the cleaning in the breakfast area… first day I couldn’t get in the kitchen at 8am because of cleaning, the next day, at 6.30am I got kicked out during my breakfast because of the cleaning and same at 7am the third day.. I understand they have to clean but the logistic is not good, lots of people wants to eat something at that time and it was really annoying.
- Iris (10/5): Amazing - Very nice hostel, really big but well organized, they really thought of everything. Great atmosphere, nice staff. Very social and easy to meet others.
- India (4/5): Unfriendly long-term hostel - Building itself is cool and a lot of space in the common areas. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Cats. Rooms were small and full of long-termers whose stuff was everywhere. They were also pretty unfriendly/unwilling to make conversation and kinda rude. The beds were squeaky and uncomfortable and it was freezing cold in the rooms.
- Hanna (10/5): It’s a nice and busy hostel. Big area to hang around or play pool/table tennis/dart etc. I really enjoyed my sta - It’s really socialising and a lot of opportunities to keep yourself busy or just to hang out.
- Wilhelm (10/5): Most iconic Hostel in Freo - The best hostel in Freo to arrive in and stay while in Australia. I was surprised by how friendly and trustworthy the people here are, especially since I had just arrived in Australia and wasn't sure what to expect from the locals. Absolutely recommendable! Ididn't like that the hostel is mercilessly fully booked, but there are very good reasons for that.
- Unai (10/5): Exceptional - One of the best hostels I've been to. Great facilities and common area with pool, table tenis, ps5, swimming pool, bbq...
Very social but not a party hostel, you can rest at night.
Would recommend.
- Pei (7/5): Good - i can play table tennis here wait for too long for breakfast because of cleaning
- Erin (9/5): Great location - Very good location, staff helpful and friendly, well organised with everything you need Facilities basic but not bad at all
- Jessica (8/5): Very good -
- Greta (5/5): Passable - Very good location They have the weirdest and most complicated check-in and check-out procedures. Instead of a kitchen where everything is just there, you get a bag with a plate, fork, knife, etc that you have to keep in your room, so you have to carry it around when you want to eat. The bathrooms are very small, not clean, and several toilets were broken.
- George (10/5): Staff and cats are awesome - Really good social experience, very local and 3 minute walk from beach Only good things to say
- Misaki (8/5): Great backpackers hostel - Atmosphere is really great. Staffs and people who stay there are friendly. It is cleaned in the every morning. All stuffs are organized. Cats make me relaxed. I would like to stay there again. It was a little noisy outside at night, I guess depends on the room; My room was faced on the front road. The room was a little cold for me.
- Francis (9/5): Awesome - What a great hostel.
Probably one of the best around Perth. Everything is well thought out to make your life easier. Whether it's the organization of the lockers, the well-equipped kitchen, or the common areas! everything is great and the atmosphere is nice.
We feel like we're in a good share house.
- Bruno (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bruno (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amazir (10/5): Exceptional - Huge sharing space
Big kitchen
Really nice decorations Mattress can be better
- Victor (8/5): Very good - Everything but the fact that I never received the my $50 bond back. The fact that I never received the my $50 bond back.
- An (10/5): Exceptional - The atmosphere are great here! Feeling chill and relax here, like home😁 The location is great, every destination is within walking distance!
- Bruno (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bruno (10/5): Exceptional - All the hostel is nice and really good vibes, coming back soon!
- Paul (8/5): I'm coming back within a week! - There is a big kitchen, the share areas are huge too and to chill you got a free pool table, ping pong table, footsball table and a swimming pool. Amazing! The mattress are not comfy at all.
- Jette (6/5): Pleasant -
- Zara (10/5): Best hostel in Perth / Freo! - The location and vibe is great! Everyone here is friendly and there are three lovely resident cats! The facilities are clean, kitchen is always open and there is a wonderful large common area downstairs. I love that they also light incense in the morning 😊
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional - Everyone at the hostel is very welcoming and friendly, the communal areas are fantastic with lots to do and plenty of kitchen facilities.
- Janina (10/5): Exceptional - I loved my time at the Sundancer. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location and atmosphere is great, I had a lot of fun!
- Rebecca (7/5): Really enjoyed the vibe here - Great mix of people. Lots to do.
- Sam (4/5): Really wanted to like this place. But if you're not long term and looking for friends, I wouldn't - Spacious, lots of cool spots to hang out and plenty of entertainment. Really good location in the centre of town. But Freo backpackers has the same and a better vibe imo 👀 The atmosphere was weird, still social but kinda cliquey. Because the majority of people are long-term workers, everyone already has their groups of friends. People weren't really up for a chat in the common spaces or the rooms, which I've never experienced in a hostel before. It's also just a bit rough around the edges in terms of cleanliness and comfort, but that's to be expected for price
- Léa (9/5): Superb -
- Alessandro (3/5): Poor -
- Fernandez (10/5): Exceptional - Very good common areas and showers. Nice vibe and very social. Perfect to meet new people.
- Quentin (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Maria (1/5): Bad -
- Chloe (5/5): Great bit no regulating non hostel guests in the rooms/ bathrooms/ facilities. - Large building in a good location to get around Fremantle. Lots of space and facilities to use so you will never be waiting to do/ use anything. We had a two long term residents in our room and they would bring their partners in the room who didn’t stay in the hostel to stay with them for our 5/7 nights! Which was frustrating they just let them in and there’s no real way of the hostel knowing. So instead of a 8 bed room we had a 10 people for our stay with full access to our belongings and we would close the door for it to be opened back up again! Frustrating!!
- Raúl (9/5): Superb -
- Sofia (9/5): Great hostel - The kitchen is big and well organised.
The bedrooms are comfortable and the location is great!
The staff was awesome, they helped me with everything I needed!

- Monica (7/5): Good for the money, very nice vibe - The hostel is super cool, a big post colonialism building with plenty of space and even a pool area outside. It’s located very central and the staff was super nice. There is no air conditioning so it was super hot at night and the bathrooms weren’t very clean either.
- Marius (10/5): Great! - A very good hostel! Super friendly people there. I will definitely travel there again. Nothing
