Guest Reviews
- Donny (2/5): - By far the worst experience ever. Very deceiving and so not worth a cent.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Booked thru Expedia and at arrival no one in sight, so came back and found out that our room was taken for the another night by previous renters. We were left on the streets with bags and no where to go. No help from Expedia to book another hotel. Very bad experience
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No staff at the site (even to guide). No proper parking place. Staff wont even pick the call. Had very bad experience.
- Jay (2/5): Nightmare in La - Location was the best part about this property. the bathroom was like a gas station I couldn't use It, I used the one at la fitness, it was pet hair every where and I would assume it was a cat because I'm allergic and my throat was itching throughout my stay. But it could also been the molded bacon they had in the unplugged freezer. which had the apartment stinking, air fresher and candles didn't help. I contacted the property manager immediately and she told me she would switch me to a better room however this never happened she didn't respond until later the next day. On top of that the parking spot she told me to park in I received a ticket. She was supposed to let me into the parking garage but I guess she didn't because she would then have to move my room. I would not stay here again. Ever, I also sent the property a private email after my stay and they were surprise and said they would take care of the problems but I wouldn't believe them just like they said they would give me a better room but it never happened!
- Tracy (6/5): - The pics are deceiving it fails to show the way it is old and rundown it is in a scary area the people that run it are very nice and try to be helpful. For the money it is a ok deal but you have no place to park and you have to be concerned about your car especially if it is a nice car if not it will be ok. The ac is an old fan on a chair and a portable unit with a big hose sticking through the window. The window has bee bee gun holes in it and cracks and it sounds like a bar is next door somewhere as there were several people smoking in front of the building and loud music. Not a place I felt safe about leaving my older kids so we left right after arriving. The biggest concern was the kids and the car. The pullout couch had broke but no one told us until we were almost there made it near impossible to find new accommodations at the last minute. It has a full kitchen and there was left over food in the freezer that was open. If your just looking for any place to crash for the money and the amenities it is not a bad price I just could not because I wanted to get some time with my boyfriend out and did not feel comfortable with the kids and the car. If I had an old car and no kids I probably would have stayed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We showed up and never received the information on how to access the apartment. No one answer the phone no one called us back we were left hanging. We had to go rent a hotel rooms just we had a place to stay. Very disappointed with that apartment. My advice is do do whatever you can to get access as fast as you can once you book the room or you're going to get screwed
- Abel (2/5): Beware , choose elsewhere - Poor , toilet paper 1/2 used ,light switches in the hallway outside of our room , noisy business underneath.restless night of sleep @ best . I will not ever stay here again
- JoJo (10/5): Nice place - Nice place and great experience for us. Was a little worried about their not being a a help desk that would provide assistance but all in all great apartment. PS : if you're a light sleeper wouldn't recommend since we did hear the comedy club but it didn't it bother us very much.
- Bob (4/5): - Lack of utilities (towels, washing up equipment, bedding) makes this property unsuitable for people travelling long distances.
- Matt (2/5): - Nobody there to provide info. Had to call manager upon arival. They upgraded my room bc they had rented the original room. The new room allowed smoking... internet didnr work, manager did nothing about it. I eventually got a refund and upon leaving was accused of vandalism for which they attempted to charge me for. All of this 20 mnutes after i left...terrible experience. Stay away
- Steven (8/5): - The apartment was alright. But says there's a coffee/ tea pot, well there wasn't and I love my coffee in the morning. Also was left with about less than a quarter roll of toilet paper and a plate in the sink. The bed was really nice. I would recommend checking supplies and making sure that your listing has proper amenities that it indicates it has! And get rid of the boxes that are in the closet
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice apartment. - Great price for the place. More spacious than expected.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not a hotel !!! - This was an apartment directly over a night club/ comedy club. Very loud noise until til 1:30 AM. There were no towels( only one small washcloth) The bottom line was we paid $148 for a place that we could neither sleep at or bathe. Our requests for a refund have been fruitless so far. I am leery to book with Expedia ever again and will never eeturn to this apartment. So annoying and sad. Also steep stairs and no elevator made hauling our luggage quite difficult.
- roderick P (8/5): - No hangers & no control for the heater.
- Danny (10/5): - It was a really good experience would 100%come back
- Leon (10/5): Cool Hotel - I really like staying here it was clean the people are nice and Roscoe's chicken and waffles is across the street.
- Susan (2/5): Awful: noisy, uncomfortable, creepy - One of the worst "hotel" experiences we have ever had. The renovations on this old building apparently included no sound insulation from a very noisy street-corner venue that is on the lower floor of the building. Sound blasting until midnight, too loud even for earplugs to overcome. It's a very sketchy place. You are greeted on arrival by a street-side front door with rusty, old, locked security gate, no signage, nothing. Press the "call hotel" button on Expedia for instructions. The staff person answered promptly and tried her best to be helpful with electronic locks and doors that were sticky. Bathroom lights in the dumpy studio unit did not work. She switched us to a nicer unit but there was no hope for the blasting noise. Bedroom tv didn't work. Living room TV only offers some sort of weird internet tv -- you can't even get regular broadcast news let alone CNN; no instructions. Only 1 towel. No extra pillows or blankets. Coffee maker but no coffee. The heat consists of a couple of space heaters. No drapes in the bedroom, just cheesy blinds that let in much of the bright morning light, just when you thought you might get some sleep after the downstairs partying until midnight. The parking is sketchy too. She called an attendant who arrived promptly and opened the security gate to a poorly maintained alley, where at least there was a parking space. In the morning, you have to walk around the block through an exit gate to get to your car.
- michelle (8/5): Pretty good for the price - Had an overall good experience. The bed was very comfortable, the rooms were clean, and it is close to Roscoes Chicken and Waffles. Parking can be a bit tricky but the property manager helped open up a spot for us.
- Jimmy (2/5): Stay somewhere else. Service is horrible. - The area and the room were decent. The experience overall was not good, and I would recommend to avoid this place. The first night, we got to the room, and the room was still a mess, someone else was staying in our room. We reserved a room with two beds. So for the first night they gave us another room, but it only had one bed, and there was four of us. The lady said we would be all set for the second night. The second night we got the room we originally planned for. It had one bed and a pullout couch. I could deal with that, but then there was no hot water and they only gave us one towel. The lady I spoke with said she was sorry for the inconvenience, and would give me the second night free. Myself and the people I was with wanted to shower, so after she said she would reimburse us for the second night, we left to another place, expecting I would get my money back. I never got the money refunded. The lady stopped responding to me messages.
- Deborah (10/5): The Real Deal - First, I'd like to compliment the team of people who look after these apartments. Mid-stay we ran into an unfortunate personal problem and the apartment manager went out of her way to accommodate us and I'll never forget it!
We also were shown exactly where the FREE parking space is the moment we arrived. We mostly chose to park on the street in front of the building in both metered and unmetered parking (our choice).
Let's address words like "probably dangerous" and "gangs" in a previous review...The property manager is far too nice to address this head-on but I think we can read between the lines of that kind of talk. This is a great area close to everything in the city and is literally across the street from Roscoe's and close walk to some of the best soul food restaurants in CA (try My 2Cents and Simply D'licious). This area of the city is diverse and includes people from all ethnicities and a range of income levels. I mean buying a duplex 3 doors down would be $1million+. I walked my dog in the neighborhood at all times of the day to include 3am and never once felt unsafe.
The place isn't luxurious but it's comfortable, safe, and a great base from which to visit lots of SoCal destinations. Let's not forget that the price is a bargain. I've paid 4x as much for 1/2 as much space especially in Los Angeles and I do not regret booking this place.
- Alex (2/5): Hotel in a lower poverty area. - Place was filthy, couch, towel, blanket stains, dishes, stove, restroom and floor were all dirty. Pictures were not all that true to what we slept in. Place was overall disgusting and unhappy with stay.
- AJ (2/5): Not what i expected - Never got to stay. I booked short notice (should have looked at ALL the pictures 1st) when i arrived it looked at little sketchy. went inside no one around apart from some party going on upstairs. called the hotel, nice lady answered...waited 20mins for them to arrive. was told that our room was double booked but could have the studio....took a quick look and realised that this was not for us. seemed like a party place. wasted my time. had to book elsewhere. probably worked out for the best. they didnt mind at all and refunded my $. if it was late at night i could have been stuck though.
- Michael (2/5): Horrible place - Arrived late to find no hot water, TV did not work, place was not keep up and I saw a roach. I just packed up and left.
- Leann (6/5): Not wonderful - Location was not great. No parking. Bed was uncomfortable. It was just okay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): I really wanted to like it - The apartment is very cute, but when we got there the bathroom was not cleaned, there were no sheets on the pullout bed, and there was broken glass scattered all over the floor. Amina (sp?) was very nice and seemed genuinely surprised at these things and had someone bring sheets over right away, but really? Glass all over the floor?? The second night there was construction going on from about 1-3am (which is illegal) and floor was shaking and rattling. Also ridiculous. The fine print mentioned construction, but in the middle of the night??? The owner of the apartment has yet to get back to us on that. The apartment is cute, location is great, whoever is in charge is not doing a good job.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Awesome - Manager and housekeeper were super accommodating. Everything was very simple and very spacious. Will use again!
- Juliane (4/5): Apartment in Mid City - I stayed in the apartment with my friend for five days. It was big had a sofa which was cozy. Two TVs, one in the living room and one in the bed room. We didn't really used them and I think you could only use them for Netflix and Amazon. The bed was a Queen size one, but on the normal mattress was another which made the bed way to high and uncomfortable. You couldn't really store your clothes since the wardrobe was dirty. There was a air conditioner and a fan, but both were really loud so that sleeping was hard. The windows you couldn't open as well, since LA traffic is even louder. The kitchen had everything you need, sadly there were no pots and pans for cooking and no soap to wash the dishes. Also no chairs to sit on the table in the kitchen. So we just could store our stuff in the big fridge or use a microwave. The bathroom had a big shower wich was really nice. Sadly the shower curtain was not really useful, since it was way to far from the shower and the floor got all wet. The toilet was broken. It didn't flush at all and don't even think about flushing toilet paper. No way. The woman from the apartment send someone really quick to fix it. But sadly it was still not usable like a normal toilet. So we couldn't use it at all. Also the overall cleanness was in a bad condition and needed some good cleaning. I wouldn't recommend this apartment. The price was okay, but I wouldn't book it again.
- Josie (6/5): Great location for public transport to all tourist - Took awhile to get someone to get us into the property but after that the owner made himself available through sharing his mobile phone .
- Christina (8/5): - It was a very clean and nice apartment that is only one bedroom. It was hot but there are fans and air conditioning in the room. They didn't have enough blankets so if your going with more than two people bring your own blankets
- Veronica (8/5): Great place!! - The location is perfect near stores and other attractions. The apartment itself was great, it was clean and comfortable and I felt completely safe. The customer service was very helpful. Overall well worth the money.
- Patti (8/5): Nice in the Inside - The decorations inside are nice, towels and linens as well. They've done a good job renovating this building. I assume they will continue to make it better as they need to get another trash can. But the staff was accommodating especially since we arrived pretty late. I would suggest they get a sign to put by the door up to the apartments so it's more clear you are in the right place, but like I said I arrived after dark. I would definitely stay here again.
- London (10/5): - Couldn't get any better
Great and respectful owners
- mr. Wood (4/5): Dirty Dive! - No water out of the facet. They had fans no A/C remotes didn't work for the tv. Walked barefoot sat on the coach and the bottom of my feet were jet black! Wads of hair in the bathroom.
- Tom (6/5): - No a/c was tough
- Ido (2/5): - Didn't stay there cuz they kept pushing the checking in in hours and I got tierd of it
- Tasha (6/5): Hmmm - No parking no lights to even see apartment addresses or anything
- Auly (10/5): Cute home feeling - I loved it. It was close to restaurants, shopping centers and the freeway..the apartment was clean, cute and comfortable...the staff was highly helpful. I would definitely recommend this without any hesitation.
- Sydney (8/5): - I really enjoyed my stay. I was close to everything like right in the middle. It is a urban area but I liked it. Felt like I had privacy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Surprisingly nice place - Unexpected super nice place! We had a few questions and had to keep contacting the owner/manager who quickly and graciously addressed them. Ample street parking. Walking distance to Roscoe's-an LA institution. Kitchen was not fully stocked but we made do with what we had brought with us.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Shocking - We arrived, not a nice area, gangs and filth all over the streets. Did not stay, too frightened as we had a young child with us and we would not be able to go out after dark. There was also someone in one of the rooms, did not go in but could hear the tv channels changing
- Peter (10/5): A home away from home - The reason why I liked my stay here was because it felt so nice having a living room, kitchen, and bedroom for my friends to stay for a couple of nights. We had a lot of fun just hanging out or doing some of our work when needed without the disturbances of people in motel rooms peering through their windows and staring or weird activities happening everywhere. It was just calm and we can decompress while inside. To top it off, the staff was very friendly and helped us along the way with any extras we needed. I can't wait to come back and feel at home again.
- t (6/5): Quite. More like an apartment you hated in college - Sparsely furnished. Had to ask to get 4 hangers iron blanket and trash cans . Barred windows with no views . A single electric heater
- Leonardo (8/5): Very nice experience - We had a great experience. We didn't have bed clothing for the sofa bed and they were very nice and brought us some.
They also brought us a heater. Very nice touch.
Everything worked very well. We were really happy with the location. It was close by everything we wanted to do.
The property manager was really easy to contact and very nice.
I would book with them again
- Mario (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed my stay! - This was a nice home away from home feel. Nice stainless steel appliances and plenty of large fully functional windows to open on nice sunny days. I also liked the combinations for the doors instead having to keep up with a room key.
- James (2/5): Avoid at all costs!! - A terrible place to pass by, let alone live in! 2-3 upstairs 'flats' you have to carry your luggage two flights of stairs. The place has no reception, and located in a probably dangerous area. You have to ring a number to speak to someone who'll text you access numbers. The 'flats' are on the main road, incredibly noisy. No heating/A/C, not even enough blankets to cover with on cold night. Nothing works there. even the curtains fall apart the minute you touch them. We couldn't wait for the the first morning light to run away from this hell hole. We were extremely disappointed with Expedia for allowing such people to list this terrible place on their website. Never been to a worse place in my entire life! For what you're going to spend this place is a total rip off!!!
- Gabriel K. (2/5): - Wrote a whole thing then my review somehow didn't go through.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend.
They asked for a $50 cleaning fee once I was already in my room. If i was gonna pay $200 for one night then I would have stayed at a Hilton or something similar.
