Holly (4/5): Stay - It was okay I feel the website leads you on to think you have a cabin that has a kitchenette. We came in to a cabin that was 2 full beds a 4 cup coffee maker ( there was no coffee) dirty cups, a small microwave and a college frig in which they said in the law book if you didn't clean you got charged and extra $30 dollars. Only a toaster that caused the smoke alarm to go off while toasting a bagel at their high priced grocery store. The shower was good but if you are a lady and need conditioner and body soap and need to dry your hair make sure you bring your own.There are alot of rules in which I understand there is probably a reason. But geez made you feel bad for even staying there. They also advertised there were fresh eggs apparently the chickens were not laying.Then take the sign down. Its a very small town that does NOT make you feel welcome.

She called me as I was going over Wolf Creek Pass and waited until I arrived at 7:45. Then Keith was kind enogh to visit with me for an hour giving me advice regarding four wheeling in the area. I highly recommend the property and well be staying there again!

Friendly staff and layed back quiet atmosphere made it easy to relax in the evenings. Very limited on eating establishments close by. But other than that an overall great experience in South Fork. If you are 6ft tall beware - you’ll have to keep your head down at all times when entering any room, bathroom or even watch out for antler chandelier. Heater in dining area is definitely not safety compliant. If you sit at the dining table and have long hair - you will catch on fire. Heater is gas with an open flame to your back. Fire pits are only in designated area and far away from cabins. If you want to use fire pit, you have to purchase duralog. Only those are allowed. They sell them for $5. Pet fee is now $20 per pet per night!

The owner Keith stopped and talked with us for a while, answered our questions about the area and suggested a great little restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We will be returning, hopefully by the end of the month, to watch the leaves change color.

Cabin had 2 beds, which was fine but the longer bed on the N side needs a new mattress If only 1 person slept in it there would be no problem as they could sleep in the middle but when my husband and myself tried sleeping in it together we both felt like we were about to roll out on each side There was no support around the edges and it was not comfortable The smaller bed was very comfortable and I slept in it and my husband slept in the middle of the longer bed

Amber (2/5): Very poor - The location was great for what we were there for. My experience with Chinook Cabins & RV Park was disappointing. I booked a cabin through booking.com expecting a 2-bedroom setup with a separate living room, including a queen bed in one room, a full bed and futon in another, and two additional pull-out sofas in the living room. However, the cabin only had one bedroom with a queen bed and a living room with a full bed and futon—there was no separate living room or the promised pull-out sofas with beds. When I raised this issue with the owner, she insisted we were charged correctly and blamed booking.com for the misleading description, suggesting we should have booked directly with them. I believe the owner should take responsibility for ensuring accurate descriptions on third-party sites. Following this, booking.com confirmed the owner's information was inaccurate and that the property has full control over its listings. The owner later admitted via email that the description was incorrect, continued to blame booking.com and claimed to have updated the description, contradicting her earlier statement about lacking control over the descriptions. In the email she stated that they checked with us "several times" during our stay over the 4th of July weekend, which consisted of a brief drive-by on a golf cart from who I assumed was housekeeping asking if we needed anything. I did call the office to inquire about the room discrepancy, but it was after hours. I also attempted to connect with them when we checked out around 8am, but again it was not within their office hours. Additionally, despite knowing the cabin only had one bathroom, I was denied use of their nearby park bathrooms for simultaneous guests, which I found inhospitable. Overall, my experience at Chinook Cabins & RV Park left me dissatisfied with both the accommodation and the customer service provided. I would not recommend this establishment.

Edith (8/5): Nice and relaxing cabin - Cabin "Route 66" is well decorated and it was very pleasant to have all we needed to cook. Host was very friendly and helped us to plan our roadtrip around. A quiet place to relax. The bathroom is too small and could be better cleaned but it was ok for us.

Scott (4/5): The hot shower made it slightly better over tent camping if I turned it on correctly. - I liked that I didn’t have the problems of my neighbors and their backed up toilet. Santa’s shack needs a complete remodel to the 21st century. If you can’t use the fireplace anymore take it out. Remove oversized water heater and space heater/s. Patio foundation has settled and needs to be leveled. 40 year old carpet needs to go along with all the out dated decorations. Keep the Santa theme if you want but at least upgrade to stuff that doesn’t have 40 years of dust build up on them. Professional upgrades not half assed diy remodel upgrades either. This is why your place is falling apart around you. You have run everything into the ground 3 times already.

We stayed in the Route 66 cabin and LOVED it! Quaint and cozy. Perfect for what we were looking for. Best prices around too! Easy drive to the ski area. Overall great experience!

Steven (10/5): - Quirky little cabin that felt very comfy on the winter night I stayed there. Somehow I lucked into the Santa (Christmas) cabin and it was delightful. Even though I was very near the main road, the noise was minimal and I slept great.
Cathryn (6/5): - I don't appreciate the use of descriptive words like "rustic" as an excuse for providing old and very worn, insufficient kitchen items (ie 2 spoons, old, dented, hodge-podge pot and pan, etc), no hair dryer, as if that word should somehow be considered "cute". It wasn't.
Susan (2/5): - We decided to drive from chama to go to dinner at PAGOSA springs. Expedia advertised this place as 18 miles from Pagosa springs do we thought that was quite a drive but booked it as the drive up is quite pretty. To our horror it was actually 49 miles way past wolf Creek. We called to discuss the distance and the woman who answered was most unfriendly and argued it wasn’t her fault Expedia says it 18 miles Ok fair enough We mentioned we were bringing our two dogs and although Expedia did not mention a fee just said dog friendly she demanded $15 per dog Fair enough We arrived around 8.30 The cabin was just awful There were signs everywhere about don’t do this or that....one small sign we wished we had seen was the one about low doorway as my husband nearly knocked himself out on the top of it. We were chilly all night as there is just one thin cover and two mean pillows. I know the cabin is old but the kitchen was almost falling soars and the dish washing brush seemed almost as old as the cabin. There were no shampoos conditioner just one tiny tub of combo stuff. I own a lodge in Chama and was appalled at the price charged for such mean offerings. For instance although there a fireplace you must buy wood from them and signs (SO many unfriendly signs!!!) make it clear you cannot bring your own. If I left all these unfriendly signs I would wonder why anyone would want return After we checked out I got a text they added $20 as we didn’t wash two bowls...
Dale (10/5): Comfortable and rustic. - My family and I had been traveling and staying at hotels for most of the trip. Staying here was a great change and my family and I really enjoyed staying here. The cabin was had a Route 66 theme that wasn't over the top and didn't take away from the rustic feel. The owners were very nice made sure we had what we needed and we're comfortable. If we are back in South Fork in the future we will definitely be staying there.

The managers provided us with recommendations on where to eat and even let us leave our little cargo trailer for three days in a back parking area while we went out on a backpacking adventure, free of charge. Verified traveler (4/5): - Overpriced, its a cabin 20 feet from the main highway, this is probably a 1940 cabin, that is cute but very small, not adequate for a average size person. This.would be a nice upgrade from a tent. Coffee cost extra, but it was not available.

The Cabin "moose" that we stayed in was very rustic and an adventure for one night, quarters were cramped for three adult males. The moose had all the amenities for a comfortable stay, shower and toilet are very tight.
Emily (10/5): - Chinook cabins are tucked away off the road so it is quiet and super duper cute! Even though there are multiple cabins on the lot you still have your own space. The owners are so wonderful, welcoming and accommodating!
