Guest Reviews
- Shara (10/5): - Dont like being told a restaurant on site that only serves dinner doesnt accept credit cards.
- Thomas (10/5): - Lovely property!
- Nathalie (10/5): Je recommande !
- Ronald (10/5): - First of all I do not like a club med cruise ship on land type of resort I’m going in Moorea French Polynesia to relax and enjoy the ocean and this resort was perfect it was like going back in time and being with the Islanders as friends just great
- Valerie (10/5): - Un rêve éveillé
- Verified traveler (10/5): Moorea da baska yeri dusunmeyin - Muhtesem deneyim - kesin tavsiye edilir. Ozellikle denize yakin bungalolar - beach restoran ...
kano ile 10 dakikada kopekbaliklarini ve stingreyleri gorun
- Mark (8/5): Affordable stay in paradise - It's the beach. Our casita was clean. The furnishings were basic. There's no AC, just the fan and screened windows, so the large bed needed only a top sheet. But it was 30 or so steps from the fabulous, warm, coral and fish filled turquoise water. North American electronics will need a grounded European round adapter (i.e. two male prongs and one female slot on the power side). The hotel has a beach-side restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and a nice dinner venue by the highway. All service was friendly and helpful. Expect a $40 to $50 cab fare for the 30 km ride from the ferry.
- Larry (10/5): - We enjoyed snorkeling on the expansive beach, swimming with Rays and sharks, very friendly staff, central location to the great Moorea restaurants, chilling at the bar with ice cold beer
- Daniela (6/5): Great location, but needs some love - This hotel is situated on an absolutely stunning beach on Moorea...but the hotel itself is lacking. The bungalows could definitely use a bit of a face lift...everything is very outdated and a little worse for wear. For the price, I can overlook that, but the cleanliness was the real issue. I found several loose hairs in the bathroom and the living area and it made me wonder what else wasn't clean that I couldn't see. In the time of Covid-19 I would expect a keener eye on cleanliness. Front desk staff was nice, but restaurant staff were impolite to say the lease...as if we were a nuisance. Bar and restaurant were all closed by 9pm so no after dinner drinks or much going on. With a little work this could be a great place. Location is the best though!
- Timothy (8/5): - The beach is stunningly beautiful! Location of the morning restaurant and bar are set right above the water. Bungalows have European plug ins…bring your converters! Charming but not fancy, bungalows need up grading…. Looks like they are in the process since some are better than others.
Staff was helpful and nice speaking English and French well. I would recommend this resort to my more adventurous traveler friends.
- Lara (10/5): - great location! Perfect for families. The huts are very basic, ours had a mini fridge. There are so many fun things to do on site. Staff is friendly.
Ours could of had a newer mattress.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet place. Beautiful beach. Perfect for relaxation, snorkeling and other water sports.
Good home cooking style restaurant at the beach.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Low key and relaxing corner of Mo'orea - Overall my stay was pleasant. The room had everything I needed (no AC, but I felt fine with a fan) and was clean. The property and beach front are BEAUTIFUL! I was a bit disappointed that the "free" bicycles the hotel offered were actually only able to be used for an hour a day to go the the market and back, not to explore the island.
- Eric (6/5): Joli cadre.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice bungalows close to the beach, they have a kitchen with stove and refrigerator. Charming place good for families with children.
- Susan (10/5): - Les Tipaniers is the perfect place to stay in Moorea. The beach is just gorgeous, and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The beach bar serves great coffee!
- Abhijeet (8/5): - This hotel is in a great location next to a beautiful beach with incredible clear water, coral and fish a few steps away. The rooms are fairly basic and do not have airconditioning, though with an extra fan (that reception provided upon request) the room was quite cool through the night. This is not an international luxury hotel, though, as indicated by the price, and we did wonder occasionally if it would have been better to book the Intercontinental down the street, which was of course much more expensive. Be aware that you may have lizards in your room: on our last night, there were four on the roof beams of our cottage.
The reception is very helpful, they have two good restaurants on site, and they have useful bicycles available free of charge to go to nearby shops. Overall, this is a good option to stay at reasonable cost in Moorea.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Reception staff very friendly and helpful, bungalow with kitchenette nice and spacious (although bathroom is a little depressing). Good location, the beach is great, also good for kayaking. Good value for money. Cons: it's the only hotel in FP where we didn't have free kayaks. They do have free bikes but it was too hot for cycling.
- Viviane (10/5): - Amazing stay with very nice staff
Beautiful beach, maybe the best of Moorea.
- Andrei (10/5): - Best location on the island. Friendly staff. Walkable villages with stores
- Melba (10/5): Overall amazing - It was amazing, the bungalow was great, the restaurant was excellent and the beach was just fabulous.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Ac rooms were hot and took several hours for the room the cool down. Also the key card had to be in the switch in order to get electricity so every time you left the room the Ac would turn off causing the room to get hot again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location with a spacious room. Would have been blown away had the Wifi been better (NO Wifi in the room) and had it not been for the rooster, my unexpected neighbor, who woke me up at 5am every other day (he lived in a tree meters away, and was, unfortunately for me, lucky for him, out of reach).
- Isabella (8/5): Location, Location - Beautiful spot right on the beach. We had one of the second row bungalows, which was fine because we could see the ocean. Any bungalow further back away from the beach would be undesirable for us. Restaurant is very expensive for nothing special, but the omelette with bacon was plenty of food for us at a very reasonable a large carte price of about $6.00. Overall a very good stay and we would come back with the request to rent a bungalow with a kitchenette.
- Nancy (8/5): - We liked the location, the beach, the air conditioning in our cottage, the view and the breakfast. We particularly liked that we could order a la cart from the breakfast buffet. All in all, a very nice visit.
- Iines (8/5): - The beach at Les Tipaniers is excellent. A good place to stay with family. The only negative thing was the construction noise from fixing the bungalow next to us.
- Regis (10/5): Envie d'y revenir !
- Amile (10/5): Fabulous stay! - We really enjoyed our stay at Les Tipaniers. Friendly staff (special mention to Tania at the beach restaurant: Mauru'uru!). Spacious and comfortable garden bungalow and lovely beach area. No need to go on tours, just rent your own boat at the beach shack like we did and explore the area at your own pace (we went straight for the sharks/rays spot!). My Italian husband was happy with the Italian restaurant on the premises (and he's very demanding when it comes to his own food). Breakfast was good and so was everything else we had their restaurants. The only complaint I have would be that we were given local bus schedules by the receptionists and the bus never came (later we learned it was due to holiday week schedule). That caused us to miss our pre-paid ferry, but luckily our taxi driver was able to switch the tickets to another company and we didn't miss our tattoo appointments in Tahiti (and our international flight later that day). Other than that our stay was fabulous and very relaxing and we hope to come back someday. We highly recommend Les Tipaniers!
- MamaBear (8/5): Nice beach front bungalows - Pros:
- Direct access to the beach
- Beautiul ocean view
- Biking distance to stores (free bike rentals)
- Reataurant and bar on site
- Beach rentals on site
- mini fridge in beachside bungalow
- WiFi only works near lobby
Cons:
- Staff weren’t really friendly (one older woman particularly at restaurant had a pissed off look on her face the whole time)
- No AC unit in beachfront bungalow
- Bathroom is outdated and needs attention
- Loud roosters interrupting sleep in the early morning
- Food is ridiculously expensive at the restaurant, quality was just OK. Highly suggest going on Trip Advisor to check out other dining options.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good value nice beach had fun
- Jan (10/5): Fourth time back to paradise in Moorea - My husband and I have stayed at Les Tipaniers four times over the past 30 years, with and without children. The bungalows are clean, simple, well-equipped, affordable and work well for up to 4 people. The food is excellent and reasonably-priced and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. But we really come back for the snorkeling. The water is clean, clear and quite fast-moving (hence full of fish food), the coral is fairly healthy and the variety and numbers of fish are amazing. We usually swim hard upstream against the current for perhaps 45 minutes and then drift back over another 45 minutes. After that we turn to our identification books to identify new fish, invertebrates, or corals. Often while lunching on perfect poisson cru a la Tahitienne at the beach bar. We loved coming to Les Tipaniers when our kids were young. It is almost as much fun now that we are seniors.
- A and J (6/5): Quiet hotel on the beach. - Wrong time of year as it rained every day for our week. Excellent restaurant, friendly staff. Good beach but uncomfortable sun beds to sit on, when the rain did stop! Comfortable room. Notice that water from taps was not drinkable, but no free bottled water supplied. Table and 2 chairs provided outside on porch, but would have been nice with cushions to make them more comfortable. Excellent snorkelling but strong current.
- Irina (10/5): Very comfortable stay on reasonable price - Wonderful facilities, very friendly staff. Bungalows were big and well furnished. It was easy to access and the customer service was outstanding. Very reasonable price .
- Cathy (10/5): One of the best beaches in Mo'orea ! - We booked this hotel because we wanted a typical postcard type of beach, and it did not disappoint !
We had originally booked a bungalow with kitchenette but had to postpone our trip and ended up getting a regular beach-side bungalow. It was simple, with the bear necessities ( mini fridge, towels, 2in1 shampoo & conditioner, little bar of soap ( I recommend bringing your own ).
It was warm and the fan was not powerful enough to really cool down the room, but we still had a good night sleep, slept with all the windows open ( beware of the roosters, like everywhere in Tahiti, they won't let you sleep past 5:30 ).
Back to the beach: absolutely beautiful ! Nice lounge chairs that you can put in the water, lots of tiny fish for snorkeling. We found the best spot to be past the pier, less coral, perfect for kids !
The hotel has bikes and 2 canoes available for free, there's also a Canoe Shack on the beach that offers lots of activities ( whale watch, canoeing, etc ).
Their parking lot gets full real quickly, we parked across the street when it was full.
Little convenience stores nearby were practical to buy stuff like water and breakfast items ( the ones offered at the restaurant on the beach is pricy but coffee and tea is still affordable ), beware, the shops close at 7pm. We had dinner at Creperie Le Motu just minutes away.
Friendly staff, helped me change my reservation and fix issues I had with Expedia.
After the 10am checkout, you are able to stay on the grounds longer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent cheaper option in Moorea. - We had to move the mattress so we could sleep under the fan... it was just too hot on some nights. But once we were there is was fine. The beach is amazing, and not too crowded. The bar is perfectly located and has great food. The restaurant has great food, a little pricey, and most of the staff were pleasant and kind except the one with glasses... who was quite rude and pushy.
- Patrick (10/5): A little taste of paradise ! - Les Tipaniers is definitely one of the best place to stay in Moorea. The location is ideal, with a super beach (one of the best in Moorea) and close access to a lovely Motu where we can swim with rays and sharks. The hotel is very nice with confortable chalets and very good restaurant and snack.
