• Elaine (10/5): - The views from our room were spectacular. The hosts were very friendly Great coffee to start the day Pre warning of the potential 350 steps up and suggestion of luggage delivery prior to arriving. There are 350 steps to the guesthouse. We took the cable car and walked down to the guesthouse. We left our luggage at the train station so I don't lnow how it would be with luggage on the cable car. Even if we had to do the steps, the view from the top would have made it worth it.

• ROBIN (10/5): - La vue est imprenable sur la ville, il faut se lever tôt aux alentours de 6h piur admirer le lever de soleil depuis la fenêtre. Et il permet de tester de dormir sur un lit de type Futon. Cependant deux épaisseurs sont nécessaire pour les personnes ayant des problèmes de dos, car ce n'est pas très confortable x)

• Sasha (8/5): Great views and a traditional sleeping experience! We would recommend for a short stay like ours! - We stayed for 1 night while cycling part of the Shimanami kaido. The guesthouse had stunning views and felt very traditional. Woken by natural light for a beautiful sunrise. As they warned us - it was a long climb up with heavy suitcases!
• lisa (10/5): Best Guesthouse - Besonders hat uns das Haus an sich begeistert, da es so viel Charm hat. Die Aussicht auf die Stadt Onomichi und dem Wasser vom Zimmer aus ist Atemberaubend. Die Gemeinschaftsduschen sind groß und sauber genau so die Toiletten. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

• Jörgen (10/5): Fantastische herinnering aan een geweldige plek en mensen. - Geweldige plek met een prachtig uitzicht. Het café is een fijne zitplek met goede koffie en ontbijt. Het meeste hebben we nog wel de vriendelijkheid van de medewerkers gewaardeerd. In het bijzonder de goedlachse, artistieke Japanse gastvrouw (Masseo?) en de avontuurlijke werknemer uit Taiwan. Niets, maar ik kan me voorstellen dat je pech kunt hebben met geluiden van buren die niet snappen dat de wandjes dun zijn.

• saskia (10/5): Beste plek van Onomichi. Echt bijzonder om hier een nachtje te slapen - Zeer mooie en schone kamer met fantastisch uitzicht! Gezellige bar waar je ‘s avonds kunt zitten. Goede koffie! Niets. Hou er wel rekening mee dat je behoorlijk wat moet klimmen om er te komen.

• Victoria (6/5): Amazing view, but not worth the noisy setting and quality of facilities. - Spectacular view and friendly host difficult to get there with rolling luggage and extremely thin walls and tiny rooms; the cafe is open until midnight and the rooms are directly above it so it’s very loud. There were mosquitoes inside the room and the only trash can is in a separate building. One WC for 15+ people and two shower stalls.

Onomichi is just OK, and I think that if it wasn't for this hostel, we would have found this 2 nigh-stop a little too long, even with a one-day bike trip on the Islands. But we arrived at the train station, walk 10 minutes, then up the famous stairs and we landed on this magical place! It is located in the temple district, and when you walk off the hostel, you are already in a beautiful location, with an amazing view, and you feel out of time. The room, as advertised, is not soundproof, and indeed you can hear everything in the other rooms, but everyone was respectful and quiet. In the morning, the sun rises, and you can see it from the window or walk to the observatory deck (10 minutes walk) to see it with a 360 view.. From the deck, you can also see the sunset. Well, this hostel ruined all the other hostels forever, nothing will ever compare to that. They served a Gorgonzola CheeseCake, which I thought was a Deepl translation mistake (ricotta/gorgonzola), but no; it was really a sweet cheesecake with a Gorgonzola base. I would not recommend it. Also their offers in the café was a little expensive for what it was. But I would come back anyway.

• simon (10/5): Delightful quirky guest house - This is a quirky characterful old house converted into a delightful guest house. It has fabulous views from it's high position over the town. It's quite a walk up and there's no road access so not recommended if you have heavy bags. There's no ensuite but this of course is reflected in the price. A lovely chilled reception/ coffee area. We absolutely loved it as being so different from many bland hotels in this budget range.

Sunset and sunrise are stunning to watch either from the room or outside. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. I recommend this place 100% for having a peaceful stay in Onomichi.

• Christian (10/5): Eine außergewöhnliche Unterkunft im traditionellen japanischen Stil mit wundervollem Sonnenaufgang - Sehr nettes Personal und eine außergewöhnliche Lage: Direkt unterhalb vom Senkou-Tempel. Wir haben die Unterkunft problemlos gefunden (da wir ohnehin den Tempel besichtigen wollten). Die Aussicht ist phänomenal und wir haben den schönsten Sonnenaufgang (direkt vom Zimmer) erlebt. Die Zimmer sind traditionell japanisch und sehr liebevoll renoviert. Das Café im Erdgeschoss ist toll, um dort abends noch etwas zu trinken und morgens lecker zu frühstücken. Ganz ehrlich: das Musik-Gedudel im Café und dass das Haus baubedingt sehr hellhörig ist. Trotzdem empfehlen wir jedem einen Aufenthalt in dieser außergewöhnlichen Unterkunft.

• Rachel (10/5): Unique traditional guesthouse with comfortable futon mattresses, great shared amenities and cafe, with the most stunning - This place was so unique and beautiful. The traditional tatami mat seaview room was exquisite. The view was incredible, so peaceful watching the sun rise over Onomichi. The stairs are a lot, but we took the cat alley instead which was mostly ramped and found this to be way easier with our suitcases.

The cafe serves easy and delicious breakfast and great drinks. The host was very helpful and friendly. We should’ve done a bit more research about the 300 steps to get there haha nothing to dislike about it just our bad for having such big suitcases!

• wendy (8/5): Une belle vue dans une maison typique - L’emplacement, on surplombe cette jolie ville d’Onomichi. La chambre typique. La jeune fille qui m’a tout expliqué était (elle) très sympa. Devoir louer une serviette de toilette, les douches à l’extérieur, le lavabo qui donne sur la cuisine sans porte pour séparer, le fait que tout donne l’impression qu’on est pas forcément très bienvenu.

• Fabienne (10/5): - The guestroom and the view is absolutely spectacular. As a guest, you are also allowed to stay and relay in the coffee/teahouse - which is also lovely. The location on the hill was for me a perfect break from all the city hustle and bustle. I would stay again anytime!
• Aya (10/5): Great location, gorgeous views, historic ambience, and a comfortable sleep for a great price - Great location, gorgeous views, lovely cafe space, historic ambience with tatami mats, and a comfortable sleep for a great price. Located right at the foot of Senkoji Park, so it's an easy walk to the top of the hill and to the Senkoji Peak observatory. Right by the famous cat alley and within very easy walking distance of tonnes of other attractions. The location of this guest house is honestly a huge part of the reason that I had such a wonderful time in Onomichi, because it enhanced the ease and beauty of my time there. It's made me want to come back, and when I do, I'll definitely be staying here. Highly, highly recommend. Nothing, I loved my stay

• AZUMI (10/5): 景色が良くて、ゆったりできる御宿 - 景色がよく、宿泊者にしか見れない景色もあり、夜はバー兼カフェで置いてある本を読みながらゆっくり楽しませていただきました。 朝ごはんも有料ですが美味しかったです。 お風呂はシャワーしかないので、他の宿泊者の方とタイミングかぶるかもしれないです。冬は少し寒いかなと思います。

• Kawasaki (7/5): - ロケーションも良く想像していたより快適に過ごせました。　尾道全体に言えることですが穏やかで親切な人が多く、オーナーも寡黙な雰囲気ですがとても丁寧に対応していただけました。　古い建物で襖1枚の仕切りなので大声は厳禁ですが小声で喋る分には問題ありません。　飲食禁止（カフェスペース除く）なのでシャワーを浴びて尾道の夜景を眺めながら寝る。　そのための場所だと割り切ってください。　神経質な人も向きません。　千光寺からの小道も楽しいですし商店街や海岸通りも歩けばとにかく楽しい場所です。　静かに雰囲気を楽しめる方には最高な宿です。　 無いです。 下からは確かに370段ほどありますし、湯船もなくトイレも共同です。　テレビも無く酒盛りやお喋りも出来ません。　隣がうるさいかもしれませんし廊下の音は響きます。　でも、それらを上回るロケーションとオーナーの人柄です。

• Corinna (10/5): - We stayed in the large family room upstairs and the view was amazing. This place made us feel like we were really in Japan with tatami floors and shoji screens in a beautifully restored traditional house. The story of the restoration project is interesting too. We walked up to the temple and the observatory at the top of the hill, and explored the surrounding streets before going biking on the islands the next day. Wished we had stayed two nights instead of only one. The futons were comfortable and warm. Other guests were considerate and quiet. Facilities were clean.

• Yamada (8/5): 歴史と伝統と今の融合 - ロケーションと古民家をレトロの中に日本の良さと他国の雰囲気を上手く表現してリメイクされているところがよかった。 清潔感じもよかった。 駐車場が遠いのは仕方ないですが、良い散歩コースと思えばいいですね！
