Guest Reviews
- David (10/5): Excellent - Well presented and plenty of choice. Everything was fine.
- William (8/5): All very good -
- Renata (10/5): -
- Karen (9/5): A surprisingly comfortable stay with great breakfast. - Clean and Comfortable basic room with twin beds and a great shower.
Beds surprisingly comfortable .
Breakfast outstanding. Situated on golf course next to the club house and above the pro shop.
20 mins walk into Mumbles town.
- Nigel (6/5): - great breakfast
- Peter (8/5): We enjoyed the service, views and pleasant staff. - Friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfasts. Good location near Singleton Hospital for us. Enjoyed the views and peace and quiet. Cleanliness: some stains on walls, arm chair and bathroom cabinet.
Need of some refurbishment: The toilet is set low and very difficult for elderly people to use.
Some repointing needed in shower setting as it is collecting stains. Several towels very clean and usable but pretty worn out.
- Kim (8/5): Lovely. Would use it again if in the area. - Basic, clean and tidy - does what it says on the tin. Small but has all the essentials for an overnight stay!
- Claire (10/5): - This is our 2nd visit and it was just as good, friendly staff, clean room. Lovely relaxing views. Everyone is just so friendly, the golfers are so chatty :)
Love the male chef always so accommodating. Only thing would be lovely if staying more than 1 night to have replacement biscuits 😀 xx
- Deepak (10/5): -
- Tony (9/5): Great value, very friendly staff, excellent meals provided in Clubhouse - Location was great overlooking Golf Course or out the back Mumbles Bay. Room was clean. Perfect base for walking the Gower Peninsula Rooms were not made up during our 5 night stay - But this didn't particularly bother us.
- Sebastian (7/5): -
- Segun (10/5): -
- MechieM (9/5): Great Venue - Comfortable and clean room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Check in instructions could be clearer or signposted at the rooms.
- Keith (8/5): One night stay to visit local family - Apart 1 had 2 steps down into bathroom. Lack of a short handrail means that this is potentially unsafe access at night. Early waking as slat type blinds. Otherwise the room and facilities were excellent.
Small point, being cold, it would have been useful to have turned on the heating in the room in advance.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Giovanni (8/5): -
- Chris Kent Kk (7/5): A 4day stay.. - Location
Wild ponies and sheep roaming free
Breakfast good choice Room cold(radiator didn't work)
Room wasn't cleaned in 4days
Only one small supply of toiletries
Didn't receive tea/coffee/milk daily.
Portable heater in room broke.
I don't rate the accommodation 4 star.
- Michael (8/5): -
- Simon (9/5): -
- Ian (8/5): - Clean and comfortable, quiet location, ease of access. Friendly, helpful staff. It wasn't obvious where the reception was, I had to search and ask.
- Terry (10/5): Lovely people lovely place, thank you - The lady on the desk was so friendly and all the staff looked after us exceptionally well.
A big thank you to all. Nothing the property is absolutely brilliant
- Gwynneth (9/5): Ideal stopover - Staff great, breakfast - lots of choice and a wonderful view from the restaurant, comfy beds and very clean room. Nothing - it was excellent value for money.
- dave (10/5): Clean efficient and friendly - The breakfast was great the chef very friendly and helpful and produced a lovely breakfast
Booking was great too Can think of anything
- Helen (8/5): Nice location and friendly staff - Good location, clean and tidy.
Staff provided us with a lunch when we couldn’t make breakfast which was very kind and it was excellent
Staff very friendly No window (which we weren’t told about) in our room but we did have a skylight.
- Annegret (10/5): Würde sofort wiederkommen - Das gute Frühstück und die Lage Nichts
- Tom (9/5): Clean, comfortable, accommodation with a great breakfast. - Great breakfast, one of us is an omnivore, the other is a vegan. Both were delighted with their respective repasts. I was happy with everything but you will need to be prepared to use stairs. It is also quite a way from the town centre and beach.
- andrew (8/5): Great robust stay on beautiful golf course - The sheep
- Clare (10/5): Stayed for four nights and appreciated the courteous and friendly staff and enjoyed watching the wild horses, ponies and - The location was excellent as its situation and allowed us to access the whole of the peninsula without any difficulty and it had a good car park. As it was attached to the golf clubhouse we were able to buy evening meals and use the bar facilities which were at a very reasonable price. This made it a real holiday. Thought the pictures on the website didn’t do justice to the rooms. They made them look plain whereas in fact the fittings and furnishings were of a very high standard. It suited us just fine.
- Debbie (10/5): - Breakfast was beyond expectations and staff lovely
- Angela (2/5): - Location Room not sutable for sitting around in as too small - didn't end up staying.
- ireneusz (10/5): - Surrounded area
Friendly staff

- David (10/5): Exceptional as usual - The variety of choices was amazing.Friendly and efficient staff. Nothing
- Wendy (9/5): - Location, comfortable beds, clean, large shower.
Lovely breakfast. Room was not warmed before my arrival. Very cold but we turned up the radiator and towel rail. Warmed up the room after a couple of hours. In need of minor repairs, light bulb, cracks in grouting, broken door in entrance, window in bathroom would not close.
- Remco (4/5): Never again - Clean and hot shower Other rooms were booked to a drunk group of lads. Causing major disruption in the night. Didn’t sleep at all.
- Joe (10/5): -
- steven (10/5): - Nice room, nice breakfast, large car park.
- Neil (8/5): - Friendly staff
- ian (7/5): Great value but a little tired. - Location and staff excellent.
Views across golf course super. Room was a little pokey with little room to spread. No easy way to do hair and makeup in front of a mirror.
- Claire (10/5): We had a comfortable stay with a lovely breakfast Thsnk you - It was a beautiful rural location close to the sea
- Miho (6/5): - Room was spacious, beautiful bathroom. Cooked Breakfast was perfect potion and good quality.
- Peter (3/5): Potentially with location a very nice place, but zero response to the problems we had - Breakfast was excellent and views from restaurant were also excellent Room like a sauna due to faulty radiator which was reported several times but no one got back to us.
Therefore very little sleep
- Dave (8/5): Great value. Recommended - Great location, brilliant value for money, excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Would recommend. Only thing would be to fix the window in the communal hallway, lots of wind blowing through the gap creating a bit of noise.
- Mark (8/5): - Good location for walks and near Mumbles & Swansea.
- pehr (1/5): - Svarade inte på mail eller telefon
när vi var försenade 2 timmar.
Kom fram ingen där inget meddelande. Fick panikboka nytt boende på natten för 5000 kr.
Uselt.
- Christopher (6/5): - Room was alright as was breakfast Not clear accommodation is on a golf course and key pick up is in clubhouse, not clear some rooms right at top of house, 2 flights of stairs up, on a wild night very noisy, and more stairs to go up to lounge in clubhouse for breakfast. Not good for those with mobility issues, as we found! Club members friendly, though, even on a foul morning.
- Alison (10/5): We’ve been before and we will come again! - Friendly staff, lovely and clean. Fabulous breakfast. Great location.
- Stuart (6/5): Not somewhere I’d go back to - We didn’t stay. Room was on third floor no lift ,narrow stairs we are in our 70 s bags 25 kg each
- Heather (10/5): - Somerfield Lodge is a very comfortable and clean .The bar staff and chef were very friendly and plesent, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent and the evening meals were too. This was our second time we have stayed at Somerfield Lodge and would definitely recommend this a lovely place to stay.
- Susan (8/5): Comfy, great location and price included breakfast - Lovely quiet location, comfy well appointed room good breakfast- lovely walk around the golf course in the morning with great views of the Mumbles - plenty of parking. Not much ! light over mirror didn't work and ceilings a bit low as we were on the top floor under the roof.
- Dylan (10/5): Brilliant cant wait to go back - Everything brilliant place and staff amazing and helpful Beautiful place quiet relaxing could not find a better place stayed everywhere in Swansea, ill be booking this place again and again
- Peter (9/5): -
- Ashley (9/5): A great option for a short stay. Will use it again - Convenient and well priced Nothing
- Maurizio (9/5): -
- Probert (9/5): Good as ever - We've been many times and knew what we were getting. So happy with you once more. On Sunday morning, just as it's getting light, my friend in room 4 could hear one of the green staff complaining loudly about having to work every weekend.
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Craig (8/5): - The rooms where comfortable and clean breakfast was good also
- Alan (9/5): -
- Margaret (9/5): A great overnight stoo after visiting the Gower. - Good location with plenty of parking spaces. Signage to the property could be better. Just two symbols on a post at the foot of the drive.
- Christopher (7/5): Nice little lodge with hot breakfast - Nice breakfast that was cooked to order! Room was clean and quiet, and staff were friendly. Check-in and check-out were slightly unclear. Check-in is with the bar staff on the upper floor of the golf clubhouse. For check-out we left the keys with the chef.
- Robert (10/5): - The very friendly staff, the great freshly cooked food at breakfast and in the evening. Comfortable rooms, and easy parking. The location was a bonus even though we were not golfers, and enjoying watching the sheep and ponies on the golf course mixing with the golfers. Nothing to dislike.
- Sarah (8/5): A pleasant place to relax - Pleasant location, despite being in a golf course.
Good breakfast. Not well signposted.
The reception area was a bit confusing to find. You have to go up to the golf club pub to check in.
- Darren (9/5): Lovely place.would definitely stay again but next time weqould play at the golf course(Clyne GC) - Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The rooms were basic but comfy and clean.
Breakfast was absolutely top drawer and the chef was great.
- David (8/5): I would stay again because overall it was very pleasant - Location great - lovely views
Breakfast fine but unimaginative The room wasn’t ready when I arrived despite being given the key. This was sorted out very quickly and apologetically .
The toilet flushed haphazardly - hard to discover what made it work
- Andre (8/5): -
- ireneusz (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (6/5): Convenient for Clyne Golf Club, otherwise rather basic room but large bathroom - Location good for golf
Breakfast good Room rather cramped and old fashioned
Rather noisy - generator starting and stopping all day and could easily be heard in room.
Room not 4*, more like 3*
- Imhof (6/5): -
- Mike (9/5): -
- Benjamin (9/5): I would recommend to anyone - Friendly staff who could not be more accomodating. A really lovely (albeit brief) stay.
- DERYL (10/5): - The area and the place was lovely.
- Aurelia Jane (9/5): -
- Andreas (6/5): -
- Pioppi (10/5): - Struttura in mezzo al verde tra cavalli e campi da golf, tipica del Galles.
Buona colazione, pulito, consigliato.
- Claire (8/5): Perfect relaxing stay - The staff were so friendly, such a lovely little place with beautiful views. The room was clean, and the bed was so comfortable I had the best night's sleep I've had in a long time!
The food was lovely, homemade lasagne was delicious, and the homemade chips were perfect, took me back to being a kid. The chef was friendly and so accommodating. Breakfast was lovely and relaxing with beautiful views of the golf course.
We cannot wait to return :) There was nothing we didn't like.
The only thing, if anything, it would be nice if the tea, milk, and biscuits were topped up if staying more than one night. Tho, I know if we had asked, they would have been more than happy to accommodate.
- Ben (10/5): One Night Stay - The location was quiet, the staff were brilliant and the breakfast was top notch👍 Nothing
- HP (9/5): - Bel emplacement devant un immense golf.
Calme.
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Frances (9/5): - Breakfast and lunch was very good. Room was clean. Staff were helpful.
It was fine for a one night stay.
- Sean (7/5): Great for one night - The room was clean and basic . it was small but more than comfortable and adequate for one night .. The breakfast was excellent Room too small
- Cindy (8/5): Comfy room with lovely outlook, free parking, great breakfast and lovely staff! - Comfortable small room, nice outlook (over the golf course), free parking, good breakfast included and nice meals at the Golf Club. Stairs 🥴
- Christine (1/5): We won’t be staying there again. - The beds were comfortable The room was to small , no coffee only tea and creamer.light over mirror not working in bath room, wind from bedroom door horrendous all night only member of staff was a young boy behind the bar in the golf club, breakfast was very nice, There was no sign for somnerfield lodge only cline golf club.
- claire (8/5): - Excellent breakfast. Convenient parking Quite noisy … air conditioning, grass mowing, people banging doors etc
- Harrison (8/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): Great location, facilities and staff. - I visited Somerfield Lodge with my daughter to view the University, which is conveniently very nearby. We found the accommodation very comfortable and the staff friendly. At a great price which included breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again. I honestly couldn't fault my experience as a guest here.
- Agnes (9/5): -
- Antony (8/5): -
- Carolina (9/5): - Nice and comfortable room. Good cooked breakfast. A bit out of town. You definitely need a car to go and get dinner. The stairs are very steep.
- Brian (8/5): Good place to stay for golf or visiting Swansea/Mumbles. - The accomodation is on a golf course near Swansea, the rooms are next to the clubhouse where food and drink is served in the evening and where the breakfast is also served, There is plenty of parking.
On the night we were there the clubhouse was not busy and we had a very nice meal It had a good view over the golf course as well.
Breakfast was excellent and the accommadation is clean and functional with twin beds. Check in was at the bar in the clubhouse but the signage was not clear as the sign appears to point to the side of the clubhouse.
- Amreen (2/5): - The breakfast was good Had to swap rooms due to toilet not flushing and was dirty when we arrived. No phone to contact recpetion so we had to keep walking over to the other building/climbing stairs. No water was provided for the kettle! Overall not satisfied
- Sharon (9/5): -
- Robertson (9/5): -
- Shengqian (Neo) (10/5): -
- Helen (10/5): - Friendly helpful staff and relaxing ambience. Nothing
- Emily (9/5): Just acreally nice spot - We loved the chef! He cooked us the most delicious breakfasts and came out to chat with us. He recommended we go to Rhossili Bay Beach what a beautiful spot. We had a great day there. I wish we had gotten his name.
The view of the golf course at dusk was beautiful
- Eugenia (8/5): - Excellent views from the breakfast room. Rooms a bit small and no much sound proof.
- David (10/5): Pleasant and memorable. - Cleanliness, Friendliness of staff. Quality and quality of breakfast. Entirely satisfied.
