Guest Reviews
- Richard (10/5): Great, unusual hotel - A very quirky, stylish hotel with a fine restaurant and an excellent wine selection. The interiors are unusual and very tasteful.
- Susan (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful, it is more like staying at a friends country house. The staff obviously love their jobs. The restaurant was closed as there was a private party but the owner made us a meal which was delicious. Breakfast was great, home made jams, yogurts, cheese and cold meat platters, free range eggs, cake, freshly squeezed orange juice and artisanal juices.
The gardens are very interesting, and the owner gave us a little tour, a very interesting building.
The bedrooms have interesting furniture and art works and we could have swum in the bath!
We booked to visit again while we were checking out.
- Sabine (10/5): Exceptionnel - Séjour au top. Super ambiance.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Gammelt og sjarmerende, men litt dårlig renhold - Et shabby-chic hotell. Kanskje mer shabby, men absolutt sjarmerende og spesielt.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had a very pleasant stay. This hotel is surrounded by a huge garden of trees, hedges, and shrubs, quite unique in an urban hotel. While not in the center of Montpellier, it is located near the river with its clean and well tended pedestrian boulevard; a very nice 15 minute walk into town.
Very old-world shabby-chic! I recommend this unusual hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exceptional property! Very unique. Had an amazing time.
- Jeff (10/5): Just like home - Really a one of a kind experience. The wonderful staff make you feel right at home immediately. We also had dinner at the restaurant - be sure not to miss it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a lovely property, 5 rooms above an amazing dining room all set in a beautiful garden. Our room was large, airy and had a very comfortable bed. There is amazing contemporary art everywhere. Dinner was spectacular, and wonderful Antoine made sure we had great wine pairings. We loved every minute of our stay.
Séjour parfait rien a dire.
- Thomas (10/5): Wonderful haven of quality and relaxation - We thought we might be in the wrong place as we drove up to Mas de Lafeuillade, but once through the gates, we entered beautifully maintained gardens with a wonderfully French small hotel. Interesting that there is no actual reception, so you need to find people on arrival. They were very welcoming and the room was superb with a lovely big bathroom. Dinner was very enjoyable and obviously this place is well known by locals as the restaurant was full despite the fact that we were the only ones staying in the hotel. Very handy for then driving a couple of miles into Montpellier - a beautiful city.
- James (8/5): Peaceful haven - The room was really large and once they cleaned out the AC filter it worked really well. The breakfast was great. With such a large room it would have been nice to have a small refrigerator and coffee/tee service. The large private garden setting was a wonderful quiet haven from a city which seems to be going through a crazy period of modern housing development. Renting bicycles was a great way to explore.
- Carlos (10/5): - Super nice surprise! This is a bed and breakfast deluxe. The house is in the middle of a large real estate property, with gardens and roads. The staff was like family, the restaurant at night was fabolous, even attracting families from the neighborhood. The room, big and comfy. Only missed an air conditioner. Would come back definitely!
- Eva (8/5): - We loved the property it was a memorable stay, the decor in bedrooms were nice but a needs a little more detail to make it shine more loved it anyway
- Jenny (10/5): A lovely manor B&B with very relaxing atmosphere - A family operated suburban B&B in a magnificent manor. Unique and tasteful. Breakfast in the garden was so serene and pleasurable that held us back on hitting the road. It’s not too far from the town center, and onsite parking was plentiful. They also operate a restaurant, which we were too tired to wait to 8pm for dinner. The setting looked lovely though. A great place for couple or family travel. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful place. - This place is truly astonishing. We arrived early and unannounced because we followed another car through the electric gates. We were welcomed and invited to relax with a meal and some wine while they finished preparing our room. Sitting there in that beautiful setting was like a dream, the people so friendly and the food excellent. When we were shown to our room I was amazed. The decor is wonderful with lovely art work and unique stylish furnishings. The retro 1960's style is what I loved most about this place and the spacious bathroom better than I could ever have expected. I do want to return there again one day and I am telling everyone to go and stay there.
- David (10/5): Oasis - It’s not easy to find the hotel but once you do, you find a beautiful oasis and feel like you are in the countryside. Our only minor criticism is that it seems to be understaffed. The staff is still learning the ropes. They make up for it in their attitude, smiles and effort. The rooms are spacious, modern, and clean. Breakfast and dinner were five stars.
- Tang (4/5): Difficult to find it - There's no sgn at the gate & its no is strange - 281 bis but not 281. It's no. is so small that it's difficult to see from the road & we only saw 281.
There's also a long sandy path about 50m long from the car pack to the door of the house. Hence, it's difficult for us to carry the luggages as there are no carts or any help.
- Susan (10/5): A lovely stay at the Mas - The Mas has wonderful and unusual art all over the hotel so there is a lot to look at. Each room is differently sized and appointed. The gardens are lovely and we enjoyed a glass of wine in them. We watched one of the staff pick strawberries from pots that later appeared on the dinner menu. Dinner (choice of fixed price with or without dessert), was reasonably priced (30 or 35 euro) and very tasty. Breakfast was also good and ample. All of the staff was eager to please us and make sure our stay was memorable. Since we had a car, the location was perfect (free parking is a plus). We had a pleasant walk to the city center, about 25 minutes. I would definitely stay here again.
- Mrs Joanna oliffe (10/5): Beautiful little hotel - Lovely little hotel, really clean, lovely ground, delicious breakfast and really friendly staff, would definitely recommend and stay again.
- Grace (10/5): Chic boutique hotel for great value - Huge room, stylishly decorated, with a luxurious bathroom. Located not far from city centre in a quiet residential neighbourhood. Hotel has the feel of a country residence as it was built in the 18th (?) century. Hotel has its own park grounds which we didn't have time to walk around but would have made for a lovely stroll. Had dinner at the restaurant, which was very good. Note that rates only include breakfast for one person but then most hotels charge for breakfast anyway. Overall, probably one of the best hotels we've stayed at, and great value for money.
- sassy (10/5): Lovely quirky hotel in beautiful grounds. - small intimate hotel just 1 mile from city centre in beautiful grounds. Tram stop 5 min walk away or 7 minute drive to centre. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room large and comfortable. Food delicious too.
- Felicity (10/5): Beautiful Hotel - From the moment we arrived when we entered through the sculpture gardens this hotel was in a category of its own. The staff, food, rooms and architecture are all splendid.
- Heather (10/5): Funky Hotel near the heart of Montpellier - My partner and I spent three wonderful nights here. The hotel is hard to spot from the road, but it is certainly worth the effort!
It is very retro, with lots of interesting objets d'art and eclectic furniture. The food was superb and the staff could not have been more helpful.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates something a bit out of the ordinary. There are only five guest rooms so it's a bit like being at home - only more interesting! Give it a go!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Faultless retreat - A great place tucked away in the middle of a garden with spacious, clean, and cozy rooms, a thoughtful, attentive, and sympathetic host. The breakfasts are delicious and the setting delightfully decorated. Could not recommend it more.
- Brenda (10/5): Relaxing in S. France - We wanted a relaxing place to stay after touring Paris and Barcelona and this establishment delivered in spades!
In the midst of tall apt buildings was an oasis of peacefulness.
Room was so comfortable and luxurious, without being stuffy. We loved the robes and slippers and the heated towel rack!
Staff was very helpful and accommodating.
The grounds were beautiful- we visited in November though too cold to sit outside.
- Mohammed (8/5): - Basically, its a house not a hotel.
- Babara (10/5): Loved it here! - We ended our 2 week stay in Languedoc here and it was a highlight. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing; the stafff so friendly and helpful (perfect English) ; and the place is just gorgeous in a very artistic and eclectic way. The room was huge by euro standards, and immaculate. The bed and linens were high quality.
If you are lucky enough to stay here do try to have dinner- the food and service were just wonderful.
This place is really a delight. It is a convenient 10 minute drive to the airport , but since we didn't head into centre vile this trip I can't say how close it is to the sites of Montpellier
- Verified traveler (10/5): - One night stay . Very clean & comfortable . Interesting house. Ideally situated to visit Montpellier
- Andre (10/5): Excellent - Such a gem!!!. This old house in the middle of a private park is walking distance from downtown.
Room and bathroom are spacious. Decoration is made of collectables. Very quiet setting. No elevators.
Breakfast with homemade jams and fruit juices. Restaurant was closed on Sunday night. Private parking.
Owners are very accommodating.
- erika (10/5): The best! - The best hotel experience of my life. I've been ruined for future hotel stays. The art, the rooms, food, and most of all -the staff were wonderful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent! - Very nice Chambre d'hote!
