Guest Reviews
- Geir (3/5): Poor - Did not receive what we booked and were not told about it.
- Donald (9/5): Superb - Excellent location, we were upgraded to Centrum 100.next door. Unfortnately didnt have a kitchen as advertised, only a kettle and coffee machine. Staff very friendly. Hotel is 45 minute walk from the aiport, we walked and saw a couple of whales in the fford. Not the.cleaming room. Bed very soft.
- Laura (7/5): Lovely one night stay - Perfect location right in the centre of town. Easy check-in process at the restaurant next door and great common area with large kitchen. A little noisy in the morning due to location. Room was a little small but was great for what we needed.
- Thomas (10/5): - Great staff!
- Karl (8/5): Very good -
- Mkathleen (8/5): Overall, the experience was a positive one. I would recommend to all, but with the caveat that there is no lift. - Location was good. Facilities were clean. Room was very small and the fact that there was no lift was a problem. We are healthy and fit, however we are all seniors and climbing the stairs with suitcases was difficult.
- INGRID (10/5): - Great location, close to many shopping. Easy to get to. Rooms were nice.
- Uday (5/5): Passable -
- Helga (9/5): Superb -
- Ilana (10/5): Exceptional -
- donna (10/5): Guest House good - A reasonable price for a one night stay in the city. Food was good.
- Wendy (9/5): Comfortable room and nice location. - The room was nice and very clean. The room did not have a hair dryer or tv.
- Hess (7/5): Good -
- Alma (10/5): - I did love this place , quite and very clean.
- Árni (7/5): Good -
- Kajal (10/5): - Wonderful stay in the center of the city! Everything was extremely clean, check-in process was very easy and it was spacious for a city apartment. Shopping and dining was extremely close by.
- Xinjiang (6/5): i would not recommend this guesthouse - before we checked in, we expect some essential things that most Guest house can provide, such as cooking place, microwave, kettle. there were none.
- Harry (8/5): Hótel Apótek, Akureyri - Nice location, handy for everything. Good taxi company a couple of minutes walk for lifts to Forest Lagoon, airport, local attractions and activities. Shops within easy walk in all directions.
Centrum Kitchen and Bar, which runs Hotel Apotek, is right next door, with really nice staff and great breakfasts. Plus, they will store luggage if needed!
Room was clean, and the shower was good. There is a great kitchen/lounge on the top floor for self catering. Only complaint - like every guest house - duvets are way too thick. Great in the winter, I'm sure!
- Shawn (7/5): Good -
- Andrea (8/5): Very good -
- Guðrún (8/5): Very good -
- Marlene (7/5): Clean Hostel and super central! - Super central location, room size was totally fine for a short stay (and perfect after a week in a camper!) the bathroom was clean, although the shower curtains should be renewed ;) nothing.
- Shirley (9/5): Superb - Spacious, clean, well stocked, check in was seamless Unlike what was described in the email, there is no elevator.
- Cagdas (7/5): Good -
- Gelu (9/5): Superb -
- Bronwyn (8/5): Clean & central location - Great location and good amenities Would appreciate a bed lamp so don't have to jump out of bed for the room light
- Bjarni (9/5): Good view from the room. Nice beds, clean room. You get exactly what you need without costing much. -
- Orri (8/5): Very good -
- Russell (6/5): Pleasant -
- Warangkana (8/5): Very good -
- Vivek (9/5): Superb - Kitchen Room size
- John (8/5): Great spot - Great spot but be prepared to walk as the main street in front of the hotel was closed off to traffic. Checkin was easy, Bar staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Great location with an abundance of street food, coffee and dining choices. A kids park just outside the front door, provided endless entertainment to kids and adults.
- Armando (2/5): Very poor -
- Heimir (5/5): Passable -
- Katja (7/5): For Iceland, decent price for a simple overnight stay. - Great central location (although on a weekend night the street below was noisy at first). There was a confusion on arrival about the rooms because the personnel didn’t speak English properly (they said I had booked two singles when they should have said that I had booked two twin rooms). Also, many people might appreciate down duvets and pillows, but my nose gets stuffed…
- Sara (3/5): Horrible bed, dirty rooms - Only thing that was acceptable was the location The bed was horrible, worst I've ever slept in. Would have slept better on the floor The room was dirty, the shower curtains was moldy, shower dirty,
We could hear every word the people in the next room were saying.
Horrible experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very convenient location, great price for a good sized room. Having a sink in the room was very convenient.
- Jóhanna (8/5): Very good -
- Gréta (6/5): Pleasant -
- Denise (6/5): Showers need an upgrade - Central location, reasonable sized rooms and rooms were clean. Only 2 showers per floor for about 10 rooms, not enough. The shower curtain should have been replaced, it was so filthy at the bottom. Very small bathrooms.
There was also a water leak in the wall that dripped all night and stopped when the showers started.
- Nathalia (8/5): Good stay - Good location, friendly staff. The kitchen didn’t have a freezer (I needed it to store my baby’s food).
- Svala (5/5): Passable -
- Robyn (8/5): Very good - Great kitchen. Central location Very noisey at night. Don’t store your food in the fridge - we had ours stolen- lost $100 worth of food. I think because this is a large guesthouse by Iceland standards with no on-site staff member keeping an eye on things and then problems can occur. Only time we had any issues in Iceland.
- Hkarl (7/5): Good -
- Agnes (5/5): If the bed would have been ok I probably would not have bothered making any comments on my stay. - The location is very good. The price was good. The temperature of the room was nice and it was spacious. The bed was broken or crooked, the room smelled a bit like a man. Everything was very dated in the room. The ikea furniture was all starting to flake and so on. The bathrooms where clean but looked very old dorm.
- Jökull (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cindy (1/5): Guesthouse to avoid - Tiny room, not clean under the bed.
No towels (we stayed in 7 different places in Iceland and it was the only one with no towels).
The kitchen was not clean.
We did not try the shower.
We were supposed to stay 3 nights but we left after 1 night.
The property was even not cheap.
- Murdo (8/5): Good stay in great location - Great locatikn n great kitchen n sitting area Room was very small
- Vigri (3/5): Poor -
- Sæbjörn (9/5): Superb -
- Tómasdóttir (6/5): Pleasant -
- Uma (7/5): Basic accommodation in a lovely location - Just a very basic accommodation but in a great location in the fancy town of Akureyi!! Very lovely neighborhood. Has a small play area right opposite to the building. Breakfast was not included in the price of the room but you can pay extra to add it. The blackout curtains worked very well Very basic. Shower space was too small to fit even 1 person. No elevator in the building
- Dagmar (6/5): Pleasant -
- Olinga100 (8/5): Very good - Room without the bathroom, quite big but the owners could refresh those rooms a bit. Its super hot inside. Not really my favourite place . But breakfast and staff super nice and helpful.
- James (10/5): Nice hostel on a fun street - On a very lively street with lots of fun things to see and do. And yet the rooms are separated from the noise, so it was nice and quiet. Check in is at the bar next door. Good kitchen, although I had to clean up after all the other guests who just left their dishes everywhere. Be respectful and wash your own dishes when you're at a hostel!
- Benjamin (9/5): Superb -
- Alexander (6/5): You get what you pay for, 2 star hotel for a reason, good for what it is - Location was good, straight down town next to few restaurants and shops, the restaurant was good and breakfast as well but over all it was okey, good enough for a sleep or 2, not for a long stay Toletseat was awfull, flaking and well worn, almost falling apart, one night the toilet made alot of noise and didn't stop after flushing for long period, small window, really hot inside the room and no view what so ever, barely any sunlight, other houses blocking everything off, pillows way 2 soft and they didn't let us get more then 1 pillow extra even wanting to pay for it, told they can't even tho we were 2,
- Spudiene (10/5): Exceptional - Good location, good internet, good shopping places around
- Ineta (9/5): Superb -
- Breanna (8/5): - The location of the hotel is ideal, it is on the Main Street with all restaurants and bars. Although it is a central location, the street was EXTREMELY loud until about 4am. The room was so hot and we could not leave the window open due to the noise. The bed was very uncomfortable and the shared bathrooms weren’t the cleanest.
- Karin (7/5): Good -
- Quoc (8/5): Very good -
- Mirja (8/5): Very good - Location, breakfast, clean No coffee, dirty stairs.
- Vivian (7/5): Good - The location was good. It's located at the heart of the walking street.
The kitchen is well-equipped. I assume that they turn off the radiators in summer, but it's currently snowing! Everything is so cold!
Worse of all, there's no hair-dryer.
- Eric (2/5): - Not recommended
- Bo (5/5): Fair with room for improvement - Kitchen and living room was fine and fairly well equipped There were no bed side tables or lights - only one loft lamp with a switch by the door. The windows were not noice insulated and there were a lot of noice till early morning
- Hafdís (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martina (9/5): Superb -
- Birgit (8/5): Very good - Very nice housekeeping staff and also next door in the Centrum Kitchen and Bar! Unfortunately noisy at the weekends - and especially when groups stayed in the house. Solo travellers usually are more respectful towards other guests.
- bijendra (10/5): - Liked very much
- Kitchka (10/5): Exceptional -
- jun (8/5): - Inside a shopping area with parking around free from 4pm to 10am
- Flavia (8/5): Very good -
- Linda (7/5): Good - Good location Room was very small.
- Anna (7/5): Good food and comfortable sleep - The room was comfortable and they had a common area/kitchen so you could go shopping and cook your own food instead of eating out every day The stairs were a bit steep and for a person with asthma and back problems it was a bit difficult to get up them and you couldn’t get a less than 1L water bottle in the sink to refill
- Gisli (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pkandkt (8/5): Very good - The location is good for have a good leisure day in Akureyri. near the church and community. unfortunately it was snowing on the day we arrived but we still enjoy the good vibe and facilities ( the kitchen ) of the hotel. The staff is great to provide information about car park and allow us for late check out while we were waiting for the road condition.
- Gabriela (10/5): perfect location and good value for money - good location and value for money
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant - Well located. Very good breakfast. Not very clean, but when you admit a bunch of college kids into the place you can only do so much.
- Bryndís (4/5): Disappointing -
- Gudjon (8/5): Very good -
- Prakhar (8/5): Very good - The facilities were really good and it was very clean as well. In the night there was a lot of noise made by people on the street. So it was very noisy
- Ayesha (10/5): - Clean two star hotel with nice kitchen , spacious rooms and working showers. Excellent value
- Frederik (8/5): Very good - The large common room and kitchen are a real plus.
- Helgi (7/5): Good -
- Ross (8/5): Very good - Great Location. Shared facilities useful for cooking food and saving a bit of cash on meals. It was noisey on Saturday night, inconsiderate guests on the same floor slamming doors and shouting at 1am.
- Karl (8/5): Very good -
- Karl (8/5): Very good -
- Björk (7/5): Good -
- Trausti (7/5): Good - Very noisy drunken people terrorizing the hallways during the night. Doors not soundly insulated
- Xhuljana (8/5): Very good -
- Teresa (10/5): Excellent base for our stay in Akureyri - Located right on the high street so great for walking around. Room was good. There is also a communal kitchen lounge that was well provisioned. A good place to base a few days in Akureyri
- Viðir (1/5): Bad -
- Palmi (5/5): Passable -
- Sigurður (5/5): Passable -
- Vlad (8/5): Very good -
- Mikael (8/5): Very good -
- Joël (8/5): Apótek Guesthouse: A Budget-Friendly Option in Akureyri - This guesthouse is a great choice for budget-conscious travelers seeking a clean, comfortable, and conveniently located place to stay in Akureyri. The guesthouse offers simple but well-maintained rooms, a shared kitchen, and free public parking (until 10am), making it a practical and affordable option as a convenient base for Icelandic adventures exploring the North.
- Elísabet (7/5): Good - Location as very nice In the check in information email it was said there would be an elevator in Centrum kitchen and bar where we would check in but there was not. We had a pram for our baby that we had to carry in up the stairs each time we went to the room.
- Naiara (6/5): Pleasant -
