They try to do everything for their guests. Lots of outdoor space to enjoy. There are two large buildings being built very close to the property so there was a lot of construction noise. It is such a shame as the hotel itself is so lovely

Shower was too cold. For the price shampoo, conditioner, kleenex, etc. should be provided. Our door did not close easily.

We were upgraded from a Studio to a full on apartment. Large fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher etc. 2 full bathrooms. Washer/dryer - unfortunately the washer wasn't working. Steps away from the pool - hardly any people using it and you have access to the 2 other pools in the other buildings My wife was disappointed the washer didn't work, but we hand washed some items and dried them in the dryer.

Housekeeping staff did an excellent job. The only minor issues were a couple of wooden doors, one in the bathroom that kept swinging in the way and the other the door into the studio that didn’t seem to close securely. Checking in was a little confusing as there are three different buildings, but staff were helpful in guiding us down the street to our entrance.

- jasonhC1421GT (10/5): Amazing people, amazing property - My family had an unexpected lengthy stay at Refugio Del Mar when my father had to have and then recover from a surprise surgery at the nearby hospital while on vacation. It was a very stressful time for our family, and the people at Refugio Del Mar were a true godsend. The property itself was beautiful, serene, and very comfortable—it made for an ideal place to relax and recover. The accommodations were excellent—rooms are clean and well-appointed, and our unit included a washer/dryer which was very helpful given the length of our stay. And the location is fantastic—walking distance to many great restaurants and the water (including an excellent cafe right across the street!) But the best part was the people. The entire staff was fantastic—they were very understanding and worked with us on our uncertain and shifting dates, and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable the whole time. And they were great with providing local recommendations for food, shops, etc. The whole team really made us feel at home, and we can’t thank them enough. We highly recommend!

- TheCaDean (10/5): The real gem in the golden zone of Northern Puerto Vallarta , Bahia Banderas bay - New built four-star boutique resort in the center of the Golden zone Dorado Nuevo nayurite, Southern Bucerias. Only one block off the beach on the designer street featuring the best little dress stores markets and all of the finer restaurants in the area. Everything is within walking distance. There are actually four structures each with their own unique swimming pools and amenities but allow sharing for all residents. Most people are here for weeks and months but daily rentals also occur. Be sure to try the Bucerias Cafe along with El negro and dozens of other fine eateries.

As soon as you enter through the private gate you see the courtyard/pool- so quaint! The beds are comfy, A/C works great and the pool area is adorable. We will be visiting again next year.

The staff were super friendly and the pool and gardens were immaculate. I would recommend staying on the second floor if possible as the lower units can be a little dark and do absorb a bit of noise from the above units. The location is 2 blocks from the beach and the property includes free beach chairs and umbrellas. They also provide free top of the line bikes. It wasn’t very busy when we were there so everything was readily available. Jorge, the owner is attentive and super helpful. We had an amazing stay.

- sara83 (10/5): Friendly and comfy home away from home - My husband and I stayed at Refugio del Mar this past week for a couple of nights while we were visiting friends who live in the area. We have been big travelers over the past 20 years, staying in many hotels and VRBOs and B&Bs. This little boutique refuge is up there with the best for overall comfort, amenities and enjoyment. Check in was quick and easy, Jorge made us feel right at home and oriented us to the local shops that he recommended we visit for items we might need. Our one bedroom suite would have been suitable for a lengthy stay, and had a full kitchen and laundry. Clean in all areas of the suite, comfy but firm bed, and standard of finish in the suite felt very appropriate for what we paid. Pictures online are accurate. The local area felt safe and locals are friendly. Bucerias is a perfect little town for anyone wanting to escape the bustle of PV. Short walk to one of the most beautiful beaches we've walked along.

- k77107 (10/5): Magnificent Refugio del Mar - We loved our 8 day stay at the beautiful Refugio del Mar in Bucerias! We stayed in Big John, which is one of the larger units that features 2 bedrooms with king sized (very comfy) beds, 2 bathrooms (both with fabulous spacious showers), living room (with a pull-out bed), kitchen, washer/dryer, private balcony overlooking the street and a huge shared patio overlooking the gorgeous and immaculate courtyard and pool. The property is gated, and you can only enter after being buzzed in. The beach is just a couple blocks down the street, as well as the town taxi service. Jorge, the manager, is a wealth of information and is always ready to provide assistance or recommendations. The owner, Carlos, dropped everything he was doing one day to drive my mom and me in his truck to a nearby bank. The only thing he would consider taking as a "thank you" was a shot of tequila, lol. I highly recommend the small restaurant directly across the street, Los Tejabanes, for breakfast and lunch. Eddie and his family provided fabulous, authentic Mexican meals that we enjoyed multiple times during our stay.
- AnneB328 (10/5): Great Location, comfortable, and beautiful Hotel. - We were two couples, and stayed for 7 weeks in the penthouse suite, in Building One. The suite is spacious and comfortable with large kitchen, in which we did a lot of our own cooking. It was great to have a good fridge with ice maker, and excellent blender, so we enjoyed many margaritas by the pool! The beds are comfortable, lots of closet space, and each bedroom has its own bathroom. There is one safe in one of the bedrooms. Air conditioning was good, with four units within the suite. The rooftop pool was right outside our door, as well as the hot tub, and can see the ocean and sunset from there! We also had use of the other pools, which was great. We found the pool in building two really nice on a hot day as there is lots of shade. The staff is excellent, and Jorge is a very accommodating host. He’s very helpful with information, getting transportation, special requests, and even helped get us a dentist appointment! We took advantage of the beach chairs and umbrellas, although unfortunately there were no golf carts available during our stay (new electric ones should be arriving soon!) Drinking water is available upon request, just let them know and they’ll bring you a 5 gal jug. (Tip them well, they work hard!) Wifi was decent, though slow at times. All in all, we had a great time, and would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend!

The staff , especially the site manager, Jorge were vry helpful in assisting and directing us when asked. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a wonderful vacation.

The condo was clean and well-appointed and the pool area was lovely. The location is perfect - close to the beach, and they provide chairs and umbrellas for client use - within walking distance of lots of wonderful restaurants. Many thanks to Jorge and his team for a great six weeks, especially to Ofília and Abraham. And thanks to Refugio for allowing the Spanish classes to take place in Building 3. Much appreciated!!! - Sightsee54709894765 (6/5): Poor communication - Excellent stay. Since leaving I have emailed them 6 times, called 8 times, chatted 3 x, fb messaged 3 times. Not a single response. Super disappointed as we wanted to book 4 rooms in the future and spoke to Jorge who said he would email us. Again not a single response after multiple attempts, and a variety of ways. Communication extremely poor. Our stay was nice though.

- michaelhbacon2 (10/5): Wonderful Boutique Hotel - Great location in the heart of Bucerias! Only 2 blocks to the beach and and great restaurants right across the street including great breakfasts, amazing sushi, fish tacos and ice cream. Pools are located in very relaxing areas of the property.
- RZRChief (10/5): Relaxing bliss - This was our third year of staying at Refugio del Mar and our longest stay. The staff is so kind, helpful and friendly. Facilities are clean and well maintained. It fits our needs well do to the location and proximity to shops, beach, and restaurants. My wife and I have already made reservation for 2025. it is such a good place to unwind and relax with no worries.
- Julie (7/5): Good - Quaint property, some odd things but this is Mexico. The town is not really a resort town - pretty gritty with cobbled roads and uneven walking. We felt safe here as there are many tourists. Excellent food and reasonable prices. We visited to attend the Banderas Bay Music Festival at Los Arroyos Verde. Confusing upon arrival as we couldn't find the office. We happened upon a man who led us to our room. The property consists of three different buildings within 1.5 blocks of each other. In the room there was no information about the hotel or area. We could only get U Tube on the tv. Very minimal kitchen, we had to ask for dish soap an towels. The bath towels were stained and very worn. The only contact we had was with the housekeepers. There was a night club within earshot that was really loud well past midnight.
