• SUNNY54 (9/5): It's nice to stay here. And very value for money. - The staff here are very friendly. They come to the airport to pick us up. That helps a lot. And also room is ready when we arrived, A/C already opened. And the breakfast taste good. Also the location is very convenient. Very close to fish market. You can walk to there. No blanket on bed. Only have thin sheet.

• Eva (7/5): Könnte eine Renovierung vertragen - frühes c/i große Dusche Nähe zum Fischmarkt (ansonsten gibt es in Negombo nicht viel zu sehen) In unserem Zimmer war es die ganze Nacht laut (Verkehr, Hunde). Außerdem fehlten zwei Fensterscheiben, so dass Abgase, Lärm und Mücken ungefiltert reinkamen. Sie haben uns vom sri lankischen Früstück abgeraten, vemutlich weil es mehr Arbeit in der Küche macht. Kaum Restaurants in der Nähe (man muss zur Beach Area fahren) Entgegen der Angabe KEINE Kartenzahlung.
• Susan (8/5): Last night and day in Sri Lanka. - We needed to stay one night closer to the airport so chose Negombo. The hotel was very accommodating and allowed us to keep the room for the day without charge. It was perfectly placed for us - not on the Negombo Beach strip but close to the town centre which was full of life. Room was clean and huge with a good bathroom & a/c. Breakfast was very good - eggs, toast, coffee. Definitely recommend for your last night. Room was on the ground floor so unable to open windows or indeed curtains. We were only there for a few hours so no problem but it did feel a little enclosed. Not a big problem. Felt v safe.
• Paul (10/5): The real Negombo - Wonderfull hosts, very friendly and hospitable. The manager brought us to the airport at 6 am. Nice, characteristic neighbourhood! Don't forget to have lunch or dinner at the nearby Club Ceylon. Netherlands lost the cricket match against India. We watched it in the lobby.
• Martijn (8/5): Prima! - De gratis transfer was top. Het hotel ligt echt op steenworp afstand van de vismarkt, dus dat is ook helemaal prima. Redelijk wat muggen, maar de klamboe deed goed zijn werk, dus eigenlijk geen last van gehad.

• Bocker (6/5): - Hotel provided a free pick up from airport, we arrived in the late evening so this was very helpful. Breakfasts were very good, one day we had a Sri Lankan breakfast, very well fooked and presented and the next day a Europen omelette Aircon was good Close yo gosh markets We seemed to be the only guests, felt a bit odd. Room was dark and windows couldn’t be opened and glass was opaque and dirty so room had a gloomy feel. There was building work going on so no where peaceful to sit. There was a general run down feeling to the building but hopefully they are upgrading. Wifi was variable The area around the hotel is also a bit run fown..however interesting ti be near the fish markets.

• Melissa (8/5): Well located heritage hotel with excellent food and friendly helpful staff. Free late (8pm) checkout - A lovely old building with great character. Room was very large with table and chairs and day bed additional to the large bed. Aircon was great. Meals were delicious, especially the fish dinners. When we enquired about a beer with dinner, staff went and bought some for us! Free late checkout was advertised and our late checkout of 8pm was much appreciated. Staff were very helpful, including driving us to Lellama fish market at 6am, waiting while we had a look at the auctions, and then drove us back for no charge. Location of the hotel is great with walking proximity to old fish market, St Mary’s church, Hamilton canal, Dutch fort area (Sri Lankan mail). Would stay again inward or outward bound. Bathroom was a little tired, but it was functional.
• Shuvam (8/5): Nice property in a converted old colonial house in convenient location - Nice property in a old converted colonial building very close to the beach and fish market. The boat rides for the lagoon also start nearby. Rooms are large with old furnitures. Staff are nice and helpful too. There were some power cuts during the day. Even lights and wifi don't work during the power cuts. Suggest them to install some power backups.

Location is perfect if you want to see the fish market - worth it! I'm still waiting for information on whether they'll pick us up from the airport ;) (the offer promised free transport, but then no contact after reservation...) There are no shops or restaurants open in the evening nearby, so it's better to eat something before you arrive.

• Alan (10/5): In every way, this hotel gave us a delightful welcome to the start of our holiday in Sri Lanka. - The room was attractive, with good quality furnishings and a bathroom with instant hot water, and the bed was particularly comfortable (with good mosquito nets), but, in the final analysis, it is always the staff that make or break the experience. We had a friendly and enthusiastic driver pick us up from the airport, and the proprietor was as helpful as could be in advising us about the best way to approach the public transport options to our next destination, saving us time and money. We sent a couple of queries after booking and they were answered promptly and politely. No complaints…in every way, it was a delightful way to start our holiday in Sri Lanka.

The reception area was musty and neglected. Also there were fixed bars on the bedroom window which I worry about in case of a fire.

The property is very clean and reminds me of the British era railway properties in India. The locality sometime stinks due to the dry fish processing centre and market in the vicinity.

• Lawrence (9/5): Excellent budget accommodation - A good choice for a short stay fairly near to beaches and also the airport. I arrived from the airport much earlier than check in time but was made to feel very welcome by Kumara and Himanchi and my room was ready for me. The guest house is by a road that does get quite busy during the day and so is noisy. The bed was comfortable and had an excellent full mosquito net. Decent aircon. Decent shower. There was a safe for valuables. Fridge in bedroom and free bottles of water. Breakfast was good. No evening meal available there when I was staying but a quiet time of year for them. A short and very cheap tuktuk ride to the beaches or to the town to eat. I don't think there are many restaurants close to the hotel. The fish market is just a few minutes walk away and worth a visit in the morning. Staff at the hotel were excellent, very friendly and helpful. They gave me a free lift to the bus station for my departure to Colombo. Nothing really. A good convenient guest house for its low price.

Sri Lankan omlette, juice, sausage and toast with butter and jam The staff were friendly and when we were running late after going to pick up our tuktuk they were accommodating and didn't charge us for the extra few hours. Friendly, welcoming and the airport pick up was amazing especially landing at 12am. The room is spacious and they were kind enough to carry our luggage to our rooms We only stayed a night and left the next day, so not much to feedback.
• Marek (10/5): Atmospheric, comfortable and close to the airport - An atmospheric old-style house with full comfort - a large comfortable room, impeccable cleanliness, efficient AC. Located just a short drive from the airport, ideal for the first or last night of a trip to Sri Lanka. The owner was so kind to drive us to the airport at 4.30 am to catch an early flight. Some interesting local life nearby - fishermen drying their catch on the beach, colourful boats, some nice colonial time architecture.
• Yonghuan (1/5): Absolutely disgusting! Dont stay here! - Absolutely disgusting! This was the worst night I had during my 14 days stay in Sri Lanka！ There were cockroaches on the bed and pillow, and long worms in the drawer. After showing the cockroaches to the staff, they agreed to change us to another room, but they made us wait in the lobby for more than half an hour before a dusty room was cleaned out for us. While waiting, the staff just place the pillow which with cockroaches on the dining room tables, and the bugs crawled in the drawers came out to the living room. The next morning, I found another very large cockroach again in the toilet, surrounded by countless small cockroach seeds. The breakfast containers was left open in the dining room over the night, you can image countless bugs and cockroaches crawled over it. Very, very dirty accommodation! absolutely disgusting! Too disappointed! (I have uploaded the photos of cockroaches on bed and in room) Don't stay here, it will ruin your holiday.

• David (8/5): As a stopover for a night it was very comfortable. - Room was quiet and cool. I asked for simple breakfast which was good. Owner very friendly and attentive. No view from room, windows frosted, however I realise this is difficult with a one story property. Nowhere to sit outside in the shade. A shame the restaurant is no longer open as I purposely chose this hotel because description of property indicated it had.

Staff so helpful in every way particularly Nimal and Kumara. Room very large with comfortable bed and great air con, strong fridge, and mosquito net. Execellent value and highly recommend !
