Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely view of the river from our room. Evening meal good.
- phil (10/5): - me and my partner had a 2 night stay .the weather was good staff very helpful .good food friendly barstaff. decent breakfast.all adds to a lovely weekend.would stay again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the hotel and staff, just felt the room could do with some decorating as wallpaper all scratched and pulled above bed. Also walls thin so you get noise from next room and people in the corridor which unfortunately meant I had a very disturbed night.
- Victoria (8/5): Would definitely stay again - We arrived late as were out for a family meal in Llangollen. Everything was lovely except I think our room must have been above the bar area as we were kept awake by a lot of swirling girls (maybe a hen party?) anyway that’s not the hotels fault.
Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that.
The only thing I’d say was a slight problem was I’d try to call the reception throughout the day to advise we’d be checking in after dinner and within a 5 hour period there was no answer. So I emailed and still had no reply. Eventually I messaged their Facebook page and some replied from there.
I think they could have lost many potential bookings by having no one manage the phone or the emails. But then it’s not my business!!
A nice hotel and would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We love staying here, the staff are all warm and friendly, will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. The food is delicious we stayed in hotel for food both night as its that tasty. The log fires burning in this old manor house makes it feel so cosy. The room could do with a little upgrading but they were still nice.
- James (10/5): Weekend in Wales. - Great service. Lovely food and service.
- Barry (10/5): - Excellent wedding anniversary away days
- Tony (10/5): - Excellent.for the price.and upgraded to a very good full English breakfast.
- MARGARET (10/5): Warm friendly hotel - Very friendly hotel. The rooms very warm and a comfy bed. We enjoyed our lunch and evening meal. We would go back there again. The only thing to note is the spa pool is a hydro pool and is large but only about 2 feet deep so you cannot swim and the facilities need work
- Ryan (8/5): Great value for money - I decided to stay at White Waters Hotel as I failed to stay there in March. The venue was quaint and kept clean.i had a great service e from very friendly staff and had a lovely view of the Dee Valley from my bedroom.
- Dee (8/5): - Lovely hotel with excellent staff. The room we stayed in needed updating.
- S (10/5): - Lovely cosy hotel with great views of river and friendly helpful staff.
- Steve (8/5): - An older facility that has been nicely maintained. Initially assigned a noisy room near some kind of HVAC system, but the staff graciously responded to our concern by moving us to a different room. The food in the bar for dinner and the breakfast were terrific! Just what you'd hope for from an old English inn!
- IG (8/5): Pleasant, if slightly faded hotel, lovely staff. - The staff could not have been more helpful, & the hotel is a pleasant, if slightly faded, establishment, set in a lovely location. Nice restaurant, great staff, with probably the best cheese omelette we've even eaten. Reasonably priced & good quality house Prosecco. Breakfast was chaotic first thing (items were missing), & the citrus bowl offering was dubious (on the edge of fermentation), but for a vegetarian their choice of yoghurt was excellent - no gelatine! A few niggles detracted: Our bedroom was nice enough, but too hot. There was a ceiling fan (which needed a good dusting), & a pedestal fan was provided, so the temperature was just about bearable. Leaving a window open, when we left the room, was not necessarily an option, as the bedrooms on the bar side let out onto an open roof so security was a concern. Noise, from the bar terrace, was a bit of an issue on Saturday night - especially as we had to keep the windows open to cool the room. The bathroom was carpeted, not something we'd seen since the 70s, & there was nowhere to put toiletries, except on a tiny three tier glass corner unit - used to store the towels. There was a bath (hurrah!), but the very small bathroom was cramped & oddly set out, making it a one person at a time affair. A real annoyance was the bedroom door closing mechanisms. It was not possible to shut your door quietly!
Nice room, the bed was very comfortable & linen was fine.
Overall, value for money, very pleasant location & worth a visit!
- Verified traveler (6/5): lovely location - enjoyed the spa and the hotel was nice and clean. food was good. pleasant walk into Llangollen. not much happening on the evening except eating. could do with some entertainment being on in the area but had plenty of chill out time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): White waters county hotel - We enjoyed are stay but the room didnt have a view, the view we had was a tool shed with diggers in and the main road, other than that it was a good hotel I would stay again.
- J.R (8/5): All round good value - Friendly welcome clean room and good value tasty food
- Ngaire (8/5): Cute old hotel in a quiet location - The bed was lovely and firm! The continental breakfast was really good. Staff were all pleasant. Lots of convenient parking.
- Troy (4/5): First impression didn’t last - The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Unfortunately there were issues. On arrival my 1st floor room window was open and it was hot. That night I couldn’t sleep as the room was so hot, why I do not know. I had to keep getting water from the bathroom (no fridge with water), window open and fan on.
The continental breakfast left little to be desired and needs more selection to make it truly continental. Hotel needs some Redecorating and TLC to lift the appearance.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The location was great. The room was very hot. Clumps of dust fell off onto the bed when the ceiling fan was turned on. Bathroom floor tiles had broken/missing grout. WIFI was poor. The front desk explained it was because of "the hills", however we got plenty of signal from next door.
Included breakfast was toast and canned fruit.
- Rebecca (8/5): Lovely setting - Staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and a reasonable size. The setting of the hotel itself is really nice but I wouldn't say it's really walkable from town so we drove in. Food at the hotel in the evening was nice too.
- Sunshine (6/5): Central location to the area. - When we arrived to check in, the hotel had not put our booking onto their booking system. the hotel was eligible full. The member of staff on duty went out of their way to contact other hotels locally. All were full. Later we were told a room had been found. We assume this was an out of service room we were allocated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Just what I needed! - Peaceful setting, quiet hotel. Comfortable, spacious room.
- Denyse (8/5): Riverside location ; friendly staff ; good value - The rooms were lovely overlooking the river. Good choice for breakfast and bar / restaurant food was good quality, well presented and excellent value. The staff were friendly and welcoming and could not have been more helpful.
- Wendy (10/5): Customer service with a smile - Staff at white waters were excellent. They were always pleasant and couldn't do enough for you. The day we arrived our room was too hot so they moved us. The bed whilst beautiful was a little too soft for us so they moved Us again - perfect
Restaurant had decent choice and good food as shown by its popularity
Would happily return here. Thank you for a lovely stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel on a bus route - One again we had an excellent stay. Food good and very reasonably priced.
- billy (10/5): great hotel - staff very good loc/ good food great we will be going back
- Verified traveler (6/5): Dissapointing breakfast but great location & spa - This was a clean hotel, although a little dated and expensive for the price. We were dissapointed that at breakfast we were told that it would cost an additional £5.95 per person to upgrade from a continental breakfast to a cooked breakfast (although upon booking we were told that breakfast was included). It would have been nice to have additional pillows in the room. Best features of the hotel were the spa and location!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good room overlooking the river. Basic menu.
- Julie (10/5): Breathtaking Views, Superb Hotel & Staff - The weather fortunately was in our favour and exploring the local area was superb. The walk to
Horseshoe Falls was beautiful. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The food in the restaurant was exceptional, my compliments to the Chef. Prices in the Hotel for Food and Drink were also very reasonable. The view from the outdoor decking breath-taking. Thank You All for a wonderful stay, we will come back soon. If I did have to criticise anything it would be having to pay extra for the Full English breakfast.
- bob (10/5): - Excellent hotel, handy for all local events, good location very easy to find with good road access
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel out of the town - Hotel was very tired looking and needs rejuvenating to bring it up to 4 star standard
We booked a last minute standard room and that is what we got a very basic room
The hotel is out of the town centre and is a good 10 minutes walk on a major road although you do pass through the park next to the river Not one of the best hotels we've stayed in
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The staff were rude and rather unhelpful. It says free breakfast however you have to pay extra for a cooked breakfast which is not stated. The light in bathroom did not work and again the staff were extremely unhelpful. Dissapointed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Stay was OK - I was unable to stay in the end, but my boss did and said that his stay was OK!
- KEVIN (4/5): Very run down hotel - When we booked said breakfast was included,,,,not true to upgrade & pay for our breakfast,,,,hotel really needs to be updated (falling apart)
- Tracey (10/5): Birthday night away - Fantastic amazing service from a hotel that wants to ensure your stay was fabulous
Only didsaponted with hotel.com but this hotel understood and went up and above my expectation to look after there customers
Will go again it's a beautiful village which i have been a few times
People say it's the service that counts and i agree it was amazing and the upgrade was unexpected but appreciated
The young lady who waited on around 17/18 yrs was a class
Was so lovely i would recommend this to all
Warm cosy and so welcoming
- P (10/5): Pleasant enough food was good few cobwebs and ther - Don't need the car once your in which is nice had a view over the river plenty of nice easy walks from the hotel + lots of places a short car drive away
- steve (8/5): Nice hotel and spa - Nice friendly staff, good rooms and we had a view of the river, the spa was nice, and the continental breakfast was more than sufficient . Only minus was its about a 15 min walk into town
- Yvonne (10/5): Anniversary celebrations - Really enjoyed our weekend here to celebrate our anniversary staff really FRIENDLY nothing to much trouble very homely feel to the place lovely views of the river from our room spa is amazing would deffo cone again
- natalie (10/5): - Lovely relaxing break, beautiful location. Enjoyed the spa and choice of food in the hotel waa excellent.
- Chris (8/5): Great staff and location - Staff were very helpful
- C (8/5): Nice hotel with lots of character - We stayed for one night on our way to Snowdonia for the weekend and was charmed by this gem of a hotel
- lee (10/5): Lovely hotel and staff. - We booked this hotel to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. Everything was perfect from check-in to check-out. hope to visit again in near future.
- John (10/5): Nice 1 night stay in attractive area - Hotel in ideal location, near to town and overlooking the river. Room, staff and food was excellent.
- paul (10/5): Clean and friendly staff - Staff bent over backwards to help lovely and clean
- Tony (10/5): beautiful views and terraces overlooking the river - Weekend break to attend a classic car run on Sunday, his meant we didn't have to drive to join the event and could relax locally thereafter. Enjoyed a steam train ride and visiting station shops and shopping in Llangollen. Good menu at hotel for evening meals on site.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not happy - Stayed here for 1 night for a wedding....it was like Fawlty Towers (a very expensive one!). Shabby, dusty, cobwebs above the bed, lighting in room touch and go as bulbs kept blowing - basically charge a small fortune but so everything on the cheap.
- Alison (6/5): Evans and Hewitt Trip - Hotel is looking tired. Not enough staff on to serve in the restaurant.
- Wendy (8/5): Nice country hotel - The staff were all very friendly and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Lovely position overlooking
the River Dee. Plenty of space on the car park.
- n (8/5): Nice spot - Back in the day I can assume this place was stunning
It's a lovely spot , right on the river , needs a bit of updating, but a nice stay , would recommend
only 1 bad point for me , carpets in bathrooms , always make wary of hygiene & spillages
