Guest Reviews
- Elijah (5/5): Not peaceful, but otherwise comfortable - AC unit was extremely loud and would repeatedly turn on and off. Bed was very squeaky. Other guests were hanging around right outside my room door playing music until very late into the night.
- Marlon (10/5): - The staff very friendly, kind. Went and even got a bucket full of ice for us and made sure everything was ok.Room was very Nice and Clean. Quite stay will stay again. Thanks for everything. Marlon & Rosa Smith Like everything.

- Mary (10/5): Nice night sleep! - Location, restaurant next door was good! Service was nice! Early checkin, clean room, slept well!
- Shannon (9/5): The rooms are clean and the staff is great! - The staff is so friendly and helpful. Too many men hanging around drinking and one came into my room but I quickly made him leave and he left without an issue but left his personal items in my room. It was a weird situation but the staff handled it.
- Jan (7/5): I was pleased with the cleanliness and functionality of things in the room. - Clean room and bathroom. TV and plumbing worked well. No bad smell in room. Was able to use Wi-Fi easily. I wear contacts and need to use a stopper in the sink. It went down but the sink had no way to get the stopper up. Also the TV remote was dirty and needs to be cleaned.
- Patrick (10/5): -
- Britta (10/5): - Warm shower and comfortable bed Horrible parking lot

- Acosta (8/5): Great value - Great staff and the lady was awesome to chat with. Attentive to clients. Well maintained outside. Nice tile work on the shower. Good lighting in the room. Room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Restaurant next door was convenient and delicious to eat at with locals. The shower rod needs to be straight to not allow water out of the shower area. The shower rod in the room was curved outward and all of the water from the shower goes out in to the entire rest room floor area. The baseboard trim needs to be repainted. Neither of these cost much money and will make a huge difference in comfort and appearance of the room.
- Christian (8/5): - I was just driving around the area and needed a place to say, and this was perfect. Obviously, it’s not a luxury day. But it’s what it needs to be.
Room was quiet, owner was super friendly, and I enjoyed my stay. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.
- Peggy J. (10/5): - Staff is very nice and helpful.
Room is fine if you just need a place to sleep. Bedding clean and fresh.
Price is right for a place to sleep.

- Luke (8/5): - Close to a restaurant Gravel parking lot
- Shannon (10/5): Nice hotel - The rooms are newly remodeled so they are nice. The beds are new and comfortable. The service is excellent. I would recommend this hotel when traveling through the area.
- Frances (10/5): Well run locally owned motel. - Small locally owned motel. Clean rooms, welcoming staff. Would stay here again!
- Ron (5/5): Passable -
- Regina (8/5): - Managers are very kind; provided me with a huge bag of ice because the machine was broken.
Door was hard to open & close and it was difficult with a long-bed truck to get backed out the next morning due to the parking situation.
- PAMELA (10/5): - Older motel. Very clean.
- James (10/5): - My sister and I had a wonderful stay here. The room was clean and beds comfortable. Love the wood floors. Don't like carpet in hotel rooms. They did an excellent job with the renovations. Staff absolutely fantastic! Had a problem opening the door. Someone came right over to open it. Couldn't open from the inside. Again someone was right there to correct the problem. If we were in the area again we would definitely stay here.
- Oquinn (9/5): Superb - Staff was really nice. She let me check in early and everything. Super quiet.
- Grindstaff (10/5): Exceptional -
- Monica (10/5): - Recently remodeled property.
Vinyl flooring. Fridge & microwave in each room.

- Shannon (8/5): - The rooms looked newly remodeled and the bed was very comfortable.
- William (7/5): Great value and location - Location and value need to update install smoke detector
- Steven (5/5): Not many options in this town , so it was decent for the cost. - Convenient, priced well. No electric outlets to charge my phone or anything else. Tub didn’t drain well.
- Lacee (8/5): All we needed was somewhere to shower and sleep. It was perfect for that. - The rooms were clean and the staff were extremely nice. The only thing wrong was they didn’t have the hot water turned on to our room but they fixed it!
- Darla (2/5): - Would never stay again. Very run down. Very
Old carpet with dog urine very strong.
- Smith (5/5): Definitely a 1-star hotel - The room was very clean. There was an ice machine. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The A/C was very noisy and cycled on and off constantly. The walls are thin, and just before midnight the folks living in the complex started talking very loudly and slamming doors. There was a lot of 'stuff' stored outside between the office and the guest rooms. Although the check-in staff apologized for the stuff, it still looked very junky.
- Earl (9/5): Superb - Quickness of response from the staff
- Julie (10/5): Friendly, warm staff and clean, comfortable room. Will come back! - The staff is so warm and welcoming. The rooms were clean and smelled great. I loved the town, and the motel restaurant was excellent.
- Madison (10/5): Good - It was a good stay , quit. It was really good stay Especially for it being in the middle of know where
- Micky (10/5): - Aspermont is not a big place. The room is clean! The bed comfortable!
The reason for 2 stars on facility is because the sink was held together with duct tape - literally. The counter and basin were cracked into multiple pieces and taped together. Even with all the duct tape, the sink was extremely clean! The staff is very welcoming and helpful. It is an older building but they are renovating/ungrading. Reasonably priced and quiet.
- Sue (2/5): We won’t be back! - The bed was comfortable In order to sign in, the lobby isn’t open. You have to ring a bell and they open a small window a few inches. You cannot see the person because of a glare and it is hard to hear because you are standing on the main street. This was at 4:00 in the afternoon in 98 degree heat. When asked about this , the attendants reply was”I only work here”. We are an older couple 75 and 71.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Jimmy (5/5): Passable - Bad smell when we first walked into room. Fortunately we had some powerful room spray with us. Otherwise it was ok.
- John (8/5): Fast, efficient service and a good location as well as price. - Location and price Cleanliness
- Janice (6/5): The room was fine but would not pick again - The room was comfortable clean and neat The office was closed. The inside of the office was in total disarray with a mattress on the floor. There was a buzzer on a window . The office person opened the window wide enough to slide my ID and papers back and forth. There were boxes of supplies directly outside of our room stacked to the ceiling. I think they were in the process of remodeling but it looked very junky. Our room had no interior lock.
- Jessica (8/5): Very good -
- Ray (7/5): Good -
- Cris (8/5): Very good -
- Ellen (9/5): Superb -
- Brian (8/5): - I’m a pretty easy going person so this was good enough for me but it wouldn’t have worked for us if my wife was with me. A little more attention to cleaning detail would go a long way. For example, the little ledge at the top of the shower hasn’t been cleaned in a long time - layer of dust/dirt build up. For the price I paid which included breakfast, it was decent.
- Steven (2/5): - People were barbecuing and drinking in the parking lot until well after 11 o’clock. There is garbage piled everywhere. At least the sheets were clean.
- Brandi (10/5): - It’s in the middle of nowhere and is peaceful.
- Ellen (8/5): Very good -
- Nick (10/5): - Clean, cold air, comfy beds
- colene (8/5): - Nice people.. Motel is being remodeled
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pleasant stay - Bed was very comfortable. Renovation still being done, painting, etc. was a little distraction. Water was not very hot in the morning, and the ice machine did not work. Recommend putting TV instructions in the room.
- Sharma (10/5): - They are currently remodeling.
- Kerry Tracy (10/5): - This was a clean room, clean bathroom, clean bed. Bed was very comfortable. . Owners were very nice and accommodating.
- 507bobe (8/5): Good Stay - Outside appearance is a typical old outdated roadside motel. 24-hour operations is managed by nice family that lives in the motel. Registration is provided outside through a walk-up window. Outside area is well lit at night for security. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and recently remodeled. All new bathroom appliances, tile floor, and tiles on the shower wall. Fresh paint and modest furniture. Window air conditioning units. New flat screen TV with programs provided by Direct TV. Hickman's Diner provides good menu sit-down dining within walking distance from 6 am to 10 pm.
- ceciliom971 (10/5): warm welcome on one of the coldest nights i have lived. - we live in the hill country in Texas, my father had broken down visiting family in Kansas so he had to go fetch him and get him back. we got to him at 4:00am and we stopd here at exactly 5:30 on a very cold and very very windy night. we thought to our selves well it my look bad but at least there will be a bed and some covers. after going to work at 6am friday and and driving 6hrs to get my dad we needed an ok place to stay.
Well it was more that just a warm place to stay the older gentlemen woke up quickly and was very kind, we paid the good sir filled out a small info card and we got the key to the room. i first open the room thinking i hope its at least clean. and it was relay nice and clean, no smells no dirt, yes its old but it felt like your grandparents house, old but clean kinda had wifi but it did have a coffee machine and a tv with HBO, beds are comfy and warm pillows are nice and big and the room has a ac unit but on a cold day its was just right on the warmth. i would stay here again if i every have the need to go out that way. no breakfast but to me it was 100% worth it.
- T2541ZAtome (2/5): Beware Bed Bugs!!! - Had reservation for 2 nights, but only stayed 1 night after being attacked by bed bugs. Also saw a number of silverfish bugs crawling in room. Two of the pillow cases looked as if they had not been washed. When everything brought to attention of motel owner, only received a shoulder shrug. Will never stay again.
- amber379 (6/5): Nice staff, but rooms had bugs - Stayed here after a friend's wedding. It was a cute little place, the staff were nice, and the rooms were decent for what we paid. The shelf in the corner of our room was quite dusty, and there were lots of bugs in the bathroom. Luckily they were mostly pretty small bugs, but it was still not great!
The bathtub looked stained, but the rest of the bathroom was very clean. Overall the experience was good, not ideal, but not terrible!
- _ranza34 (10/5): warm welcome - very nice staff clean and updated rooms dont look much from out side but i liked this hotel. no breakfast served but for economy price charged so i can have my own choice wher i want.important part is clean rooms and great service i liked that.
- apphappy (8/5): Quiet, clean, and great value - We were very tired and just took a chance stopping at this motel on our way to New Mexico. We were so impressed we stopped a second time on our way home. Would not hesitate to stop again or recommend to other travelers.
- joker098 (10/5): Wonderful - Clean rooms really liked it. Staff very friendly . Recently updated bathroom . We chek inn late at nite needed late check out upon request they say no charge for that also. Very fast Internet define try stay here next time.
- bewer (10/5): what a great hotel - i see other people review and stop here. updated rooms, nice big screen tv, helpful staff and very important part for me is, clean bathroom . i realy liked it . next door restaurant open 5 in morning for breakfast. lovely realy liked it
- weery (10/5): Rough on the outside, lovely on the inside! - At first glance the Hickman looked a little scary, but after 13 hours of driving, we needed to stop. When the lady at the desk told us it would be $45.00 for a room I asked to see it first. She gave us a " Key" to the room and upon entering we were amazed! Very nice and the bed so comfy. The diner next door was excellent. We both had the special for the evening which consisted of Bacon wrapped sirloin burgers with sauteed onions, mashed taters and gravy, green beans + salad bar and garlic bread! All this for $7.50!!!! It was definitely a great experience :)
- Lostonroad (10/5): Best at price - I was driving all day and realy tired found this motel on highway decide to stop. This place is realy clean and updated. Flat screen tv and coffee maker in room . Im realy happy with that i decide to stop here then big town and its lot cheaper then any brand hotels.
- Racqueldawn (6/5): Clean rooms next to a great restaurant! - We drove through here coming from New Mexico to Fort Worth. This is a great little place to rest after a long drive and the food at the restaurant was the best home cooking we've had in awhile. Home made delicious biscuits, cream gravy and pan chicken fried steak. Service at the motel and restaurant was friendly.
- DancingBear53 (6/5): Best motel in Aspermont - I've stayed at both the Budget Motel and Hickman Motel in Aspermont. Neither can compete with chains like Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn, but they're a good bit better than most independent motels in small towns of similar population.
You can get a night's rest at either, but between the two, the Hickman Motel has bigger rooms, nicer showers, and bigger beds. My wife and I got a king bed for $40 a night. Hard to beat that.
The proprietor was friendly, and one of the best chicken-fried steaks anywhere can be found at Hickman's Restaurant, just right next door.
- oobleckclyde (6/5): Clean, decent mom n pop place in tiny town - We stayed in Aspermont on the way to Caprock Canyons state park. Hickmans is a great value ($40) for a clean room. You can tell the hotel is old (esp bathroom) but the owners are making an effort to spruce it up with fresh paint and flat screen tvs. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel that has great homemade bread.
