• Gerbrand (5/5): Didn’t fit my (low) standards - Original design Sometimes you just stay in a place you don’t like. Wasn’t clean, felt like people were living in the hostel for a while, toilet didn’t flush, lockers were broken or full of stuff left by others.
• Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Perfectly positioned for our day trips we visted from Australia. There is an Oxxo convenience store on the next block that we used for coffee and snacks. Well decorated hostel, artisan staircase we stayed in our own room with a large bed. They even provided drinking water refills on each level. No hot shower so be brave, not as bad because it's warm in the region.

• Brigita (5/5): Not recommended - Price, location and the restaurant. This is one of those, you get what you paid for. I had trouble during check-in. For some reason my name was booked for a few days after. When given my confirmation number, they found me but there is no name for it. After that, they didn't know how much to charge me so I had to show them what the price on my email. Then they were going to charge me about 1000mxn pesos more. So I again I had to tell them how much it should be. There is no explanation during check in whatsoever. They took the payment, brought you to your room and that's it. When I asked, do we get a key, he said nope. No keys at all. Wifi sucks. Property showing elevator available but when asked at front desk, they said no elevator. Pool looks unusable. No lock at the door so I don't feel secured at all. I always book female dorm when staying at a hostel for security reason so this contradicts it. Washroom seems it hasn't been cleaned for a while. Half of the lights weren't working. My pillow smells. I had to change it with the one from an empty bed. This is the only hostel style bed where there weren't any curtain or cover around your bed so if ur stranger roommate is sleeping next to you naked, you can literally see everything, no privacy. Front door is locked after a certain time at night so you would have to knock and wait for someone to open the door for you. Construction is currently on across the street so if you wish to sleep in, good luck. I don't recommend staying here if u care about safety, privacy and cleanliness.

• Ashlynn (4/5): Disappointing - I really enjoyed the green kitchen and, the cat Oreo plus the way they tried to make things right. I enjoyed the food and smoothies it was absolutely amazing and the kindness of everyone. I appreciate that my requests were taken into consideration and they changed the sheets and brought me what I requested and tried to fix the tv. I didn't like the fact that it seemed like the room was not used in a very long time so no attention was giving to it. I did get the king suite and, the first thing that struck me was the smell of mustiness. As it seemed like it wasn't aired out in a VERY VERY long time. The bed was very damp and musty, on top of that after examining the sheets they were dirty and it was brown stuff on the back of the pillow cases. I was grateful when they changed them. I also had to request a towel, toilet tissues, and paper towels. In addition to that, the television did not work at all, everything looked like it was not wiped down in a very long time, and construction was super loud right outside of the window. I just believe the amount of what I paid was way too much for the quality of the room.

• Annalyce (8/5): - I stayed at the lodge for 4 nights and had a great experience overall. The staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere was really welcoming. As a solo traveler, I felt totally safe here. The location is perfect—close enough to 5th Ave. to be convenient but far enough away that you don’t have to deal with loud music all night. The Wi-Fi worked well, which was a must since I was working here. A few things to note: There’s construction across the street that’s pretty loud during the day, and the showers only have cold water. The place could definitely use some updates—like fixing the broken door knob and adding another curtain to fully cover the windows. Even with these small issues, I still felt safe thanks to the staff. The price is a little high for what it is, especially since it could use a bit of a refresh. But the great staff, safe location, and a solid Wi-Fi connection made it worth it for me.
• Martin (6/5): Pleasant - Good location, near to main street, town centre and facilities, but in a quiet side street, 15-20 minutes easy walk from ADO bus station. Large spacious room. Attractive and characterful furnishings, much of which carved from trees. Something of an “alternative lifestyle” space. Vegetarian café, which I did not use as not open at the right times. Despite the attractiveness, there were practical drawbacks. Limited comfy seating in the room. Large balcony but nowhere to sit other than part of a tree trunk. Just a trickle of water from the wash basin (but shower fine). Kitchen for residents use and terrace, both on rooftop, were poor for facilities and cleanliness, this resembled more a basic hostel and not the boutique hotel it is portraying itself as. The “private pool” is a tiny plunge pool actually in the café. Expensive for the overall standard, 2,171 MXN (£84) per night, room only, (but cheaper options available).

Receptionists are volunteers, are super nice, and they will do whatever they can to help. The volunteers clean the rooms daily with care and attention. The owner is kind and helpful when it comes to recommending tours. The food at the restaurant is really good, and the cooks are kind. The prices at the restaurant are very good too. There’s air conditioning in the rooms and a mini fridge in the rooms. The girls dorm has its own bathroom, which is cleaned daily. Extra blankets are offered upon request. The atmosphere and layout is laid back, warm, and welcoming. The doors of the rooms don’t close / lock. There are so many mosquitoes inside the hostel and can get into the rooms. The beds are hard and the pillows too. The kitchen is on the rooftop, outside and unsure if it’s cleaned regularly. There’s no place to dry wet clothes on the rooftop, but you can hang your things where you find space. There are no activities organized by the hostel, example for NYE.

• Stoffelen (10/5): Hidden gem in Playa - It is a hostel where people respect others. It has a more relaxed vibe than some other hostels in town. I stayed elsewhere first and moved here to hopefully find a better connection with other travellers - and I did. The building is absolutely beautiful. The staircase as well as the beds are made from wood, as if you are in the tree itself - made by a local artist. Beds are comfortable. It is clean. Towels are provided. The people working there are like a big family and are more focused on the local way of life in Playa del Carmen.

• Andrew (8/5): Friendly welcoming stay in a hostel style hotel - The staff are great, the king room was comfortable and spacious. The roof was cool with yoga twice daily, and the restaurant area is a great place to chill. And the location is excellent. The kitchen on the roof is open air but has no fan so it gets really hot. I couldn’t cook for more than a few minutes before sweating a lot! And there are ants. These weren’t major but it wasn’t comfortable to cook. And someone stole my beers in the fridge which wasn’t cool!

Was nice to have the opportunity to use the shared kitchen and there is free water in every floor. Good location. + The hotel cat is cute! Unfortunately the noise reduction in the room is very poor. You can hear the music and people talking in the downstair reataurant 100% to the room. Also the front door doorbell rings during the night and woke us up many times. The shower pressure is so low that you can get more wet by walking in the rain outside. All in all I don’t think this is worth the price we paid for the stay.

Kitchen area on the roof top with shared fridge. Not being in the party centre is a good thing if you want to be able to sleep. We had booked the room for 4 people, but the futon left for one of our kids was small. Parking on the street, with parking fee.

Very close to 5th ave (where all the vendors were) but still a safe walk to more residential/local spots near like 20th ave and 25th. Room was clean, staff was friendly, yoga on Thursday at 6 was awesome The room and bathroom are modern (love the bathroom!) Its a bit of a confusing place....this place says its a boutique hotel, but its a hostel.. the sign/name of the hostel is in English but no one working there spoke English.the staff is (seemingly) quite young and there are lots of little things that I noticed that perhaps a more mature staff would notice and care for. For example: There are hangers in the room but no place to hang thing (no closet or bar etc). The safe in my room was broken and unusable. I was charged like $10 USD more than was quoted bc I paid w a credit card. There were stains on my sheets and hair on the bed when I checked in, I told then and they changed the sheets immediately. The stairs, while cool conceptually....these are definitely for young people. Only 1 person can go up and down at the same time. The doors are difficult to unlock/lock The curtains didn't cover my window the entire way There was only a sheet provided and it wasn't on the bed the right way. I stayed at a condo w 2 friends and paid $100 usd total per night and they had at least a Mexican blanket on the bed. The ac worked well (I kept it at like 22C/warm mode and I slept comfortably with the sheet. One outlet by the bed wouldn't hold any power cords and didn't charge by USB either. There was a TV in the room that I didn't use... and maybe instead of tvs in the room, an extra blanket could be used. Its a little weird to have a wastebasket for the toilet paper have the kind of of lid you have to push open I could go on but i ran out of space. Overall, I'd say I felt safe and the location was worth it but it doesn't have this vibe the other reviewers say could be because I am about 15 years older than the staff and don't speak Spanish very well. If you're a solo traveling and looking to meet people, its probably best if you're in your early-mid 20s and fluent in spanish.

• Jakob (7/5): Good if you’re on party vacation - Great location, easy check-in. Works for a short stay. No curtains at the beds, therefore no privacy feeling at all. Unfortunately sleeping was hard as the hostel bar was super noisy until 3 am. if you’re going to Del Carmen for party vacation, I can recommend the hostel. As I only had a one day Cancun airport stopover and needed some sleep, staying there was a mistake. If you intend to get some rest, search for another place.

• Sina (6/5): If you're into 420, you'd possibly like it - if not, not so much - There is a kitchen on the roof, which is a bit run down but otherwise nice to cook in. Yoga and meditation classes take place up there, so you might have to keep quiet. Wifi was OK to work in the downstairs restaurant It felt liked everyone was into 420 and that was a key bonding theme. It's not my world so I felt uncomfortable. Bathroom was mouldy. I really wanted to leave. Reception gave me 0 introduction to the place, they just showed me my bed and left. No explanation that there is a kitchen/where, where the bathroom is, whether I can take place in the classes that take place..

• Amanda (7/5): Overall nice short stay. Hostel is small, quiet and nice ambiance and decor - Great location, far enough away from the noise of the avenue but perfect location! Took about 20 mins to check in even though I arrived at 1am and was checking out in the morning. Top bunk you can roll straight off onto the floor

• Max (6/5): - We didn't spend any time using their facility, but I can see how it would appeal to some people with its relaxing lobby feel, available board games, yoga classes, and bar/kitchen. Decent location but not for light sleepers. Vehicle noise or loud people on the street seems to easily penetrate the thin windows. Maybe it didn't help that my room window had an old crack (very large spider shape). The TV didn't have local programming, only Netflix was available but very slow. Nice that beach towels were made available, but bring your own shampoo and hair blow drier.
• Tom (4/5): Way to expensive to sleep in a dirty dorm! - This place looks very nice when you enter the lobby and the common area. They keep it clean and the WiFi works well here. The location is good: close to the bus station, the main tourist area and the beach. The room on the other hand was very dirty during our whole stay. It seemed like they never cleaned it, so the floor was full of sand and the bathroom (especially the shower) was kind of disgusting. There were literally balls of hair in there and they were still there when we left the place after 3 days. Also, the WiFi doesn't work in the room. It looks like the place is run by volunteers, but they don't provide you with any service. When you check in, they will just give you clean sheets and you have to do the rest by yourselves. On our last day we found out that there's a kitchen on the rooftop, but nobody ever told us.
• Samantha (5/5): good but wouldn’t go back - the staff are pretty nice. I think Marco and Nico were really sweet and welcoming. the rooms aren’t very clean. they clean the dorm rooms maybe twice a week and the bathroom would always run out of toilet paper.

• Mischa (10/5): Perfect hostel to recharge - I wasnt sure what to expect and then within hours of my arrival participated in a chess tournament, made like 10 new friends and got a little tipsy. It's never clear in this place who is staff or guest which make it really great. The place has an amazing vibe which is very inclusive. Otherwise everything is great as well, descent dorms, good shower and well located etc. If any of the staff read this, thank you so much, you really made my stay and Ill definitely be back. Special shout out to the hilarious and kind manager, very friendly bartender, the girl who organises all the activities, and an Israeli guy "chai(?)" who kept beating me with chess. No complaints at all.
• Marcos (10/5): - This place and the people here are the absolute best. It was my second time staying here, the vibe is truly incredible. It’s a home away from home … more than a community, it’s a second family.
• Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing hostel with a chilled out vibe. Great classes available, very clean. Now has lockers so ignore any comments saying they don’t. Highly recommend! Slightly pricier than other hostels in the area, but worth it.

• Ruths9 (10/5): Nicest stuff!! - The stuff was the nicest I've met in this trip. They also accepted me to check in on 23:30 after moving from another awful hostel.
• Veronique (5/5): This was a hostel not a hotel - Good location, quite but very close to 5th Ave and the beach. The staff is very friendly. This was an emergency accommodation for us, I would consider this the property more of a hostel than a hotel. For that reason, the communal kitchen was a little grungy and the pool looked a bit cloudy not very inviting. The Bathroom looked great but not good water pressure in the shower and toilet have to flush multiple times. For people looking for a hostel this could be a great one, but for 1,112 pesos the night there’s many better 3* hotel options. However, the staff was friendly and seem to have fun with guest in the main areas drinking and playing guitar.
• Trisha (10/5): - Stayed in the shared dorm room. Very clean and the hotel staff were super friendly. Could have used some lockers for valuables.. but overall felt super safe anyway!

• miss nicola (8/5): great place - lovely place bathroom brilliant with high powered shower Close to 5th Ave but quite a great sanctuary.No lockers in the dorms but I believe you can leave your valuables at reception.Lovely roof kitchen space and clothes drying area could have done with more seating up there guys.Fabian was great for any info needed and really friendly and helpful

Inside pool that was not filled. IDK what all that was about. This is a place you stay for good location & easy access to the shops, mall, food places, bars, etc. Again this is a place you sleep, shower & explore the city
• Rafael (10/5): September-October Vacations - Really nice, clean, and quiet hotel; loved how the rooms were set, friendly staff, and at a short distance from the center of town. Definitely returning back to spend more days.
