Guest (2/5): very disappointed we were not comfortable and could hardly wait to leave we had two nights reserve - location the cabin is very old the blinds were broken there wasn't a blind on one window the heat was an open flame gas heater that made is both sick no one ever answered the phone or texts we have stayed there before cabins were in great shape and the staff and owners were considerate and available. this time no one was. also they charged our credit card after we checked out 62.00 for something don't know what

Guest (8/5): - It was incredibly quiet - which was nice. And the bed was firmer than many of the places we'd stayed in the last few months. We didn't have a full complement of utensils or dinnerware - but we made do.

Phil (5/5): Overnight Sleep - Beautiful area, kind and friendly staff, and comfortable beds. My Son and Husband couldn't shower because the porcelain didnt have any non-slip grips on the surface. I think housekeeping rushed after we arrived early. We only had one coffee cup in our room and then housekeeping missed cleaning the coffee pot from the previous guests. By the time we noticed the single available cup, the office was closed. The ice machine didnt have an ice scoop either.

Melody (8/5): - Beautiful area. Our room are old and worn down. The lamp shade was crushed and chairs are soooo old. The shower curtain is old. The knob on shower fell off. The place is super cute and would be so nice with a little money put into it... updates and nicer furniture/bedding/decor/etc. The staff is very nice and helpful and pleasant. We interacted briefly with 3 different people and all were nice and helpful.
Madrid (2/5): - Pretty surroundings Toilette low . I've got a bad hip . Step up to building needs a handicap updated. Shower curtain smelled like dog pee. Disgusting. Toilette ran. Had to constantly be jiggling the handle. When I first got there , clerk said I had a second story room and couldn't find my reservation . Will find other accommodations next year.

John (7/5): Pleasant Stay in Rustic Cabin - Elkhorn Lodge is a group of rustic cabins set in a wooded area near the Chama River. Some cabins are separate and some are attached. Some have kitchenettes. Our cabin was clean and comfortable enough and the facilities (heat, stove) worked well. There are nearby areas to walk near the river. There is a small cafe serving breakfasts and lunches a few steps away. This accommodation is indeed rustic and not suitable for anyone expecting luxury or upscale hotel facilities. It is about two miles from the small town of Chama and the C&TS Railway. Chama does not have much in the way of restaurant or hotel facilities.
Randy (2/5): - This was the worst place I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t stay there! So they said they would refund me the $441 for the 3 nights I was going to stay and I left! Instead of refunding they charged me another $441! The couch was super old and falling apart. The light fixture for the kitchen was in the floor. The rugs were worn and dirty. The room and bathroom were not clean. The bedding was awful. I’d rather sleep in my truck than in that terrible place which is what I did! Beware

Came back from the days adventure to an untouched room. I would not recommend anything on second floor. I don’t know if I will trust Booking. Com for my future bookings.

Licinda (4/5): - This motel would have been a great place back in the 1960s. Come 2025 a lot of upkeep and updating is needed. Our flooring felt like it was going to fall in, bathrooms needed to be updated. The room had an odor that you could not do away with. No air conditioning although we did have a big fan.. I have a hard time with the 8.4 rating on this property. If it had been refundable we would’ve declined.

The remote control for the TV was taped together and still didn’t work. The floors turned our feet black when we walked on them. The staff immediately fixed our issues as soon as I notified them about it

Jessica (6/5): - Liked the clean room and the balcony. Loved the 3 lock system on the doors. Dislikes: the bed linens were not clean and the comforter was filthy. No AC, the dispensers in the shower did not work. Run down for the price. The part that takes the cake (from a professional electrician), is the power sketchy. Every time you try and use the microwave, the power dips really bad- a potential fire hazard! It was a really quiet place over all, lots of shade and didn't have to deal with barking dogs and loud neighbors.

anna (8/5): - The bed and room were clean and comfortable. I enjoyed sitting on the front deck and by the river. I was alone and felt perfectly safe. Nice food and coffee options were 5 minutes down the road.
Darlene (6/5): - We got key to our room. When we entered, room had not been cleaned! It was filthy. They did give us another room. That room looked like they hadn’t kept up with condition of rooms. Grout missing from tiles in bathroom. No stopper for bath tub to take a bath, floors needed a good scrubbing! How can you give a room to someone not knowing that it hadn’t been cleaned if you were the person in charge. I will definitely not stay there again.

RANDON (10/5): nice mountain stay - nice quiet place to stay near river. appreciated the comfort and cleanliness. it is an older place, but it works well.
William (10/5): - This was my second stay at the Elkhorn. The rooms are good sized, really clean and the beds are super comfortable. Will look forward to staying here again next year.

Michael (4/5): - This lodge is "tired" and needs an update. Thermostat on wall had no cover. Room lighting terrible. Pole lamps at head of each bed and desk lamp bestween beds). The ONLY ice machine was at other end of a block-long row of cabins. You have to dip room's ice bucket into ice reservoir since no scoop is provided (apparently to discourage ice chest filling since bags of ice are sold in office.) Bed mattress was okay, but whole head of bed tilted up when you sat on foot edge. Sheets were thin with some old stains on them even though they were washed. Room's only "sitting" chair was very old and dirty looking. Room has no AC. Not a problem when nights are in 50's but not comfortable during Summer days...plus no method of reducing allergins since no filtered AC. TV options were strange with few popular channels. Sound on TV worse than audio on a cheap bedside radio. Only national news that worked on the "newsmix" channel was CNN. WiFi was totally inoperable. Excuse offered was the provider's link hit by lightning. After I asked, clerk gave us $15 off per day forthe outage. That was appreciated, but we were cut off from email, messaging, etc. nevertheless. We had never been to this area but this lodge appears to be one of the more "worn out" lodges on the strip. I cannot recommend to other travelers. If we return to this area we will NOT pick this lodge. There are other options. Cafe next to lodge is not run by lodge owners and is OK.
Travis (6/5): - Our room was upstairs but there were no lights on the stairs, they were burnt out. We did address the issue with the front desk and she said they would put a bulb in but it never happened and it was pitch black even during the day. Room was "ok", very outdated and a little run down. The flooring was bubbled throughout the room. Also, the lights would flicker constantly.
David (4/5): disappointed - luggage holder had 2 broken straps. bed did not fit the frame. metal pieces extend out several inches and hit ankle on them each time walked by the bed. any movement in the the bed caused the frame to make noise.
