Guest Reviews
- Angela (2/5): - VERY NOISY - the property isn't advertised as being across the street and above an outdoor nightclub, but it is. On the first night we returned home exhausted to hear and feel the room vibrate from the club booming away across the street. It continued on throughout the night till 4am and then re-started for the cleaning up at 8am. The place is let by Pelican Residences (who aren't supposed to sub-let through Airbnb, we were asked not to enter through reception to avoid awkward questions). Pelican refused to allow us to cut short our booking without penalty. They offered to refund one of the three day booking if we left the apartment by 11am on the second day which we couldn't afford to do.
Hotels.com promised to get us out of the agreement given the situation, we were on a family vacation and couldn't get any sleep. However, when Pelican refused to agree they simply gave up and offered no further help.
The area is going through a massive regeneration programme so you should also be aware that the lorries rock up at 8am and throughout the day and sit below the apartment with their engines running and you have the workmen and heavy duty tools working on the sites right next to the residence.
The apartment itself is spacious, clean and would have been lovely to stay in if it wasn't for the noise.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The whole check in and check out seemed illegal and very unprofessional
- David (6/5): It has great potential with some TLC - There are units in different buildings as we did not have a rooftop pool as expected, nor a view or sofabed as pictured. It was a futon style.
Check in and check out was easy, but we learned that the toilets were being replaced the next day starting at 8am, not ideal wanting to sleep in on vacation. You are also responsible for personal items like electronics and passports so it caused us great anxiety leaving the unit. This was beyond their control, but we were not given the opportunity to cancel or price reduction.
The unit had holes in the walls behind the bedroom doors, a broken bedside table in one, and one bathroom had grime, a gross showerhead, and dirty curtain.
It is important to note that the bedrooms did not have room darkening blinds. The bedrooms do not get dark due to the pool and pathway lighting on all night and one pool light shines directly on the bed in 1 room making it challenging to sleep. (Photo taken at midnight)
The key/fob did not work well on the elevator and it was difficult to get to the parkade.
There was a guest guidebook in the room but it lacked information on how to use the thermostat or where to find the fitness center or business center. We could not find access to either.
Pelican initiated follow-up with us the 1st day and indicated they would address these things quickly but not before our departure. Hopefully, they will.
A box of laundry soap would be nice, and a security latch on the front door more secure at night.
- CHRISTIAN (8/5): - Bathrooms were dirty. Sink was clogged with hair. I had to clean it myself. Even after telling the person in charge they didn’t sent anybody to clean.
- Arthur (6/5): Hollywood & Subset Furnished Apartments - This is the second time we have used a Pelican Residence. The location was excellent. However, the apartment and the attitude of Pelican Residences leaves a lot to be desired. They spend more time telling guests what they can be fined/evicted for than in caring about their comfort. Every e-mail they send contains warnings about noise, smoking, and losing the keys and what it will cost.
The stove in the apartment looked like it had never been cleaned. There was no toaster, but they eventually provided one. There were no dish towels in the apartment but there was a dishwasher. One of the bedside tables was falling off the wall. The wattage/illumination used in all the lamps was so poor you couldn't read easily. There was no hot water in the morning on one of the days we stayed there.
The worst problem concerns the limitation of one set of keys/garage fobs per apartment. That may be fine if there are only two occupants, but even that causes problems. The lack of extra keys/fobs means that everyone either has to do things together, or some folks simply have to remain in the apartment because once they leave, they can't get back in. That becomes a logistical nightmare for 2 or 3 but just about impossible if 5 or 6 people were staying together.
There only was one T.V. set in the entire apartment. It was located in the living room, there were none in the bedrooms. The Spectrum T.V. service was annoying to use; however, the internet service was fine.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect in every way! Loved how clean it was, how they thought of everything to make our stay more comfortable and we couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice apartment in good location. - Some of the furniture was worn & uncomfortable. The building was nice & conveniently located. Needed more than 1 key.
- Suella (10/5): Girls trip to Hollywood - It was absolutely wonderful. I'm so glad I chose this place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cool Hollywood Location - Location was great and the apartment was very good for my family of five. The two bathrooms and washer/dryer really helped.
- Gina (8/5): Hollywood Trip for My Daughter’s 21st Birthday - This complex is located just a few blocks south of Hollywood Blvd to it is conveniently located near the Walk of Fame. The apartment was clean and the one we were in had a view of the Hollywood sign from the bedrooms and the living room. The pool and gym are located on the roof and provide a very tranquil atmosphere. It was rather cool when we were there so we really didn’t get to use the pool although we would have loved to! It is heated but the air was pretty chilly and breezy! I highly recommend taking advantage of this type of accommodations if traveling with your family as you don’t have the expense of multiple hotel rooms and everyone is together and you feel at home. If you check in “late”...we arrived around 6:00-6:30 I believe, there is a $30.00 cash fee.
- Veronica (10/5): Luxury apt - Excellent location. Can see Hollywood sign from balcony. Luxury apartment. Huge bathrooms & closets. Secure building.
There were only 2 washcloths, none in the master bathroom, but otherwise great. I would stay here again.
- Andrew (10/5): Excellent place close to Hollywood Blvd - We stayed at this place for a portion of trip hoping to be close to lots of attractions, which was very much the case. There were two couples and a small baby and the accommodations were clean, comfortable and more than enough space for all of us. The building was beautiful with excellent amenities (pool, gym, common area with BBQs).
The staff were very gracious and helpful, explaining the building, surroundings, and the process of check in/out very well. We had some difficulty getting a hold of someone on the day of check out to extend it, but there were multiple numbers to call and it was not a big issue.
Overall great place, in a good, safe area and helpful staff. We would definitely consider staying there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A lovely stay. Great price and great accommodation.
- Rick (6/5): Great location and amenities but not clean. - This two bedroom, two bath apartment is furnished but the hideaway bed was broken and the two beds in the bedrooms were the "modern" low types with foam mattresses, making the beds uncomfortable. The hardwood floors were filthy, and the carpets even worse with permanent stains. The location is great with two parking stalls in the basement of the secure basement.
I would return if the beds and cleanliness issues were fixed.
- Theresa (4/5): Keep Looking. - We tried to upgrade from a hotel/motel but we were SO disappointed. We had to wait out on the sidewalk for quite a while before someone came to greet us. Once checked in, the place was dirty all around. The refrigerator was not clean enough to put food into. There was hair on the walls of the shower. Ants were continually on the kitchen counters. The few dishes provided were too dirty to use. The remote for the TV had no batteries. The soap dispenser in one of the bathrooms was empty. You are expected to do the dishes, but there were NO kitchen towels or dish rags. We bought 2 towels and a dish rag and used the paper towels provided. There were 3 of us and we had a total of 3 towels. Being on a busy street, it was very noisy. 1 person slept on the sidewalk and 1 on a bus bench below our balcony each night. The air conditioning fan was EXTREMELY noisy and sent all of the air into one of the bedrooms while the kitchen and livingroom remained sweltering in the 102 degree heat. We pulled the sofa bed out and couldn't retract it because one of the braces was bent. The price per night says $229, but when all was said and done, the price was $296.56/night. When checking out, you have to pull your vehicle out of the garage and find parking on the street, go back to your apartment to leave the remote and keys on the kitchen table. Then you have to walk down the stairs to your car because the key fob is needed to operate the elevator. No place to print airline tickets
- Demour (2/5): Maybe next time - Check should have been at 3:30 it was after 6:00 when they gave us the keys but the place would still not be ready for another 1.5 hours. Place was nice toilets were not clean.
- Nick (8/5): definitely recommend to everyone. - New condo building, rooms are clean, big space, have everything u need, nice bed. Here is some suggestions for the host: the floor mat in the bathroom should be changed(too dirty), as well some cooking pots(burned and scatched), should supply a small bottle of cooking oil and small pack of laundry detergent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location to explore the "Walk of Fame" and see some sights. The pool area was terrific!
- maryann (10/5): fabulous apartment - Great apartment just three blocks from tons of action. Great rooms, great kitchen and outstanding pool area! This is a fabulous place to stay and easy to work with the staff!
- Roderick (10/5): Great apartment in Hollywood. - Very nice new building.
Apartment was very clean and all amenities were well stocked.
