Guest Reviews
- Anderson (2/5): Never Again!!! - Horrible ..fighting/ room next door ..5 police officers showed up / shouting ..items thrown against the wall next to me ...did not sleep a wink ..no apologies / not even a compted stay or price reduction for my inconvenience never again..
- Keith (4/5): - The property is seriously in need of some renovation. It felt like I had traveled back in time to the 70s. My expectations were low because of the ratings they had. After my visit, I get it. I would never attempt to have my wife stay there. But in all fairness, the staff was polite, my room was clean and my linens were fresh.
- Marc (6/5): - .
- Deborah (4/5): Bates motel - Wow. The 70’s are here. Alive and kicking. The ambiance of the hotel is from the movie Bates motel. Without seeing it, you won’t believe it. Real metal key for the door even.
$72 travel on… keep going unless you’re just looking for the adventure to say you stayed at the crazy old hotel.
- Robert (8/5): - Clean low cost nice hotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not worth the cost. - Not worth $125 a night. No breakfast, no coffee, no tea. Don't expect a good night's sleep, there are parking lot "activities" all night long. Will not book again.
- Thomas (2/5): - Two pillows were nice. That’s it for the positive. Negatives: Room was dingy. Bathroom sink had no cold water. Small stream for shower. Was unable to connect to the internet, even after bringing it to the workers attention. No coffee or coffee maker in room. Major overhaul is needs for the property. I thought $59 was a good deal but way high for what you get!
- Dawn (10/5): Bed very comfortable - The good- for an older place, the room was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Everything worked well. The area was good.
The not so great but tolerable- if you are taller than 5 ft 5in, you should be prepared to squat to take a shower. The shower head was very low.
The weird- they ask that you put your own garbage in the dumpster.
The bad- nothing in my opinion.
- Rodney (8/5): Good place to rest and get ready for the next day - I was satisfied, the room was clean and had everything I needed
- Jeff (6/5): - I couldn't get the wifi to work in my room. The staff finally gave me an upstairs room and then it worked fine.
- Roger (8/5): - Could use some general maintenance paint etc. Bed was comfortable room was quiet next door to Burger King for late night snack early morning breakfast
- ira (6/5): - No reason to come to this city.
- Kathryn (6/5): Not the best, but it worked - It worked for our needs, but it was not the best. Be warned that parking is assigned - if you park in the wrong space the car will be towed.
- Norma (2/5): - Room was very dirty everywhere
There were old food left in the microwave
Mattress ripped
Not great experience
- Brenda (10/5): - Friendly at tge front desk. Price a little high for the older hotel but rooms are clean.
- Saranne (6/5): - This is a very basic motel that has clearly seen better days. Our room was clean (no sign of bedbugs), the air conditioner worked well, there was a good sized fridge & microwave. This property reminded me of places my husband and I or my parents would stay in the 80's & 90's when we were trying to save money and just needed a bed. This appears to be a "residence" motel, but it was quiet and felt reasonably safe. It's very rough around the edges and could stand a complete rehab, but our room had newer carpet. Bring your own hygiene supplies & hair dryer. I've stayed in more disappointing hotels for more money. If you have a sense of adventure and aren't too much of a cream puff, then this motel will serve you fine. If you need Hilton level amenities, then stay at the Hilton.
- Henriette Iwema (4/5): - Poorly kept property in unattractive location
Staff low energy with limited enthusiasm
Rooms was clean
- Lisa (6/5): - The toilet seat was loose and pinch the person that was staying with me. And the shower handle fell off after turning off the water.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It did not smell good, the shower was not working, the water came out brown... the stay was very expensive and the service was lousy...
- ROBERT (4/5): - the pic is from 20 years ago the outside is totally run down
- Verified traveler (8/5): No Frills for sure - It was obvious that it needed a major makeover. But, my friends and i only needed a place to sleep for the night.it is located near fast food places and shopping outlet. And close to lake Michigan on the Indiana side. They advertised as a no frills hotel and thats what you get.
- Oliver (10/5): - Great motel, exactly what you'd expect.
- Marlo (6/5): - Terribly remodeled, freezing broken bathroom and in general unclean.
- Sandra (2/5): - We chose this motel for the high rating. Not sure how they got that as the place was a dump, Happy we only has to spend one night there
- Verified traveler (2/5): DIRTY AND UNSAFE. Needs to be shut down!!! 0 stars - LITERALLY THE WORST PLACE IVE EVER SEEN!!!! Do not ever stay here. Service was awful & very rude. Old school metal key for the private entry to hotel room that barely worked in the door (had to pull it towards you then jiggle key then twist knob then pull harder then push open). VERY NOISY. Loud music outside from other visitors in their cars until 5am on a saturday night. Room was FILTHY. Mold EVERYWHERE, all over the shower curtain, inside the shower, on the bathroom mirror, on the ceiling tiles (which were collapsing). Shower did not have hot water. Bathroom sink faucets didn't work. Mini fridge was on styrofoam and did not fully close. Tv antenna was old, out of date, and worked intermittently. The towels in the bathroom were stained and filthy and falling apart. Overall a VERY BAD experience. Only reason my fiance and I stayed was cause there were no other hotels available in town. It was a very filthy and unsafe place.
- Karen (6/5): Would not recommend but was not the worst place - Came late so office was closed. Door to space for after hours use did not stay closed. Phone answered by spouse of manager who did not speak much English. When I finally got to room, could not get door of room open and had to call for assistance. Manager used passkey and had to fight with door. Room needed more outlets and renovation but was clean and tidy. Heat worked. Did not use tv. Supposedly $5 key deposit was to be returned at checkout. It was not but I needed to be gone.
- Ken (6/5): - No Microwave, refrig, tired decor and linens, old single pane windows, no screens!
- robert (8/5): - price
- Michael (10/5): - Clean room, friendly front desk, they let me use iron. Bad very comfortable, priced very well.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There was nothing to like about this place. Veey dirty and nasty. Watched the owner just remake a bed without putting on clean sheets. Moldy ceiling tile and the room smelled disgusting. Should be putvout of business
- Lauren (6/5): - Staff was nice but hotel is old.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - El Bracero authentic Mexican Restaurant and Sophia's Pancakes are very good.
- DOUG (6/5): Somewhere I will never stay again for sure... - Very very run down hotel inside and out and looked to be more of a low rent apartment building or halfway house. Towels in bathroom were threadbare and super small. Water was hot in the evening but cold in the early morning like the water heater was on a timer. Beds were miserable to sleep on. If I had known what I was getting I would have just slept in my car.
- Marla (4/5): Not worth the savings - Having read some recent reviews that seemed fairly positive, I decided to risk it and stay here. It was decidedly not a place I would revisit.
The best I can say is that it is shabby. The paint job (both inside the room and outside on the building) left much to be desired. The room seemed clean but poorly appointed. The sheets were of poor quality. There are only two dim lights for the whole room. It looks like it was likely built in the 1950s and has not been fixed or updated since then. I could only find one electrical outlet located near the television. There is a refrigerator in the room, but it did not work. The showerhead is incredibly low. I'm only 5'5" and it was still low even for me.
Service was also lackluster. The front desk was slow getting people checked in. Then, they forgot to give me the wifi password. When they did give it to me, it was incorrect. The room was musty and hot when I first arrived as they had not turned the air on prior to my visit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Better than we expected.
- Jaime (4/5): - It was run down and the AC did not work!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Okay for a night stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The place is older, which I expected from reading previous reviews but it was clean, quiet and a great value. It was close to the highways and the lake. I would recommend if you dont expect anything fancy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff
- Ramon (2/5): - Terribke
- Verified traveler (8/5): I give it about a 3 out of 5 stars - Our stay was great, except no pool or bathtub. The motel did NOT have a ice machine or breakfast as it stated it would. Its a friendly mom and pop motel. Great if you stay overnight for a couple days if your vacationing or just passing through.
- Alia (10/5): Value stay feels safe and comfortable - The owners are doing an excellent job making an old motel clean and comfortable. This motel is a value that my family takes advantage of whenever we stay in Michigan City.
- Karen (8/5): A pleasant surprise! - I had low expectations, and the hotel is quite inexpensive compared to others in the area. We were very pleasantly surpised at the room - very clean and comfortable ,ad the bathroom was very clean; the shower seemed relatively new. Very happy with the place!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Worse Motel ever. Do not go there.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. It was fine for a low budget motel.
- Daniel (8/5): OK Business Stop - Old Travelodge - mom & pop business - satisfactory for a 1-night business stop - far from a luxury hotel, but half the price of anything else in the area (other than the totally creepy dump next door)
- Emille (6/5): Simple Accommodation for a night - This place is basic accommodation for a night, perhaps two. Unfancy but clean and relatively safe, it is a mom and pop that serves a weary traveler. Get your room, get some rest and get cleaned up. It is old but serviceable and relatively clean. I was happy with the price and would stay again if I needed another night's rest while I travel through.
- Brandwelynn (2/5): Bad service horrible dirty building - owner rude and VERY unprofessional do not stay here not worth a penny!
- Brandwelynn (2/5): HORRIBLE service don’t stay here - owner & staff are very rude unprofessional & facility is a WRECK bugs and all not worth one penny!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice staff
- Carmen (4/5): - I’ve stayed here before and it was ok, but this time I was very disappointed. The room had a very bad smell as soon as you open the door. It had not been cleaned up after the last person stayed there because there were clothes left behind in the drawers. I don’t think I’ll be back. Even for the price it could’ve been better.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No refrigerator or microwave and don't noisy heat or a/c
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very helpful of getting around and finding out where everything was
- Quinadri (10/5): - I loved how it was no deposit , room was perfect and loved the staff
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Outdated rooms with no tub and less secure locks than anywhere I've ever seen. Checked in late so asked for a late chexk out in am and was deckined
- open (2/5): Nastys place - Its smelled like dog in the roo. Plus a real bad odor and the bed was dirty i though inseen bed bugs in the sheets they had no coffee pop no microwave in there the barhroom was so little u could barely still in there so we dont not stay got out money back and went down the road
- Deborah (6/5): Dated but clean - Not the safest feeling area but not bad. Dated but clean. Beds were comfortable, shower had good pressure.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It’s okay no problems looks decent a lot stores business around there
- John (2/5): Don't expect much if you stay here. - Door key was very difficult to unlock door. A/C was off when we arrived at 90 degrees F. Door sticks.Overpriced for the quality and age of motel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not even a cup of coffee. - The refrigerator was dusty on top. The sheets didn’t fit the bed. The air wasn’t on when we got their so the room was 98 degrees. We received an actual key so we couldn’t lock the deadbolt when we left the room. This hotel needs major updates. Spend the extra $30 bucks and stay down the road at HamptonInn.
- BBkay (4/5): - If you just have to stay somewhere other than outdoors, this is the place. Too tired to drive home from a local fundraiser and money low so I took a chance. The owners were very nice and the flat screen TV was plus but the room was a dump! I was too scared to sleep I layered the bed with picnic blankets I had. Put the chair against the door prayed and dosed off to sleep. I had my own towels to scared to use theirs .
- BLM3189 (2/5): - This property woman and man owners gave me and my kids a room with (BEDBUGS) they called the police on me because I wanted my money back. Police officer woman and two men had the audiacity to tell me take it to court, huh???? St 3-4am in the morning and we've been getting ate on all night and at risk for bedbugs in my car, my house, are you kidding me. Location needs to be heat treated or owners need to be sued for knowingly selling lemons. NOT FAIR!!!!!
- Tom (4/5): - The Motel is in pretty poor shape, I stayed two nights and no one came to make the bed or bring clean towels
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty! Roaches in the room - They have roaches in the room!!
- DUFFY (6/5): - The property's location was located in an area of good restaurants.
The building, inside and out was run down. There were old Travel Lodge stickers in my room with hanging wires on the walls. The room appeared to simply be worn out. However, the king bed was comfortable and clean sheets were on the bed. Additionally, there was excellent cable and TV service.
Overall, the price was very competitive. If you want a decent place to stay on a budget, I would suggest to stay at this property.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Toilet rocked loose carpet was so filthy it made the bottom of my foot black
- Rachel (10/5): - Convenient access to Indiana Dunes,Washington Park and other attractions
- kim (6/5): - the stuff were nice, rooms were old, old little fridge and small microwave were brought to us after we asked for it, cheaper than other motels but you get what you paid for.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place to stay if looking for a last minute solution. Room was clean, and so was the bathroom. Other amenities were also good. Room did look “old” but, other than the styling choice, it was great.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The black mold in the shower was disgusting, peeling paint, gross wall colors, door hadn’t been cleaned for some time. Only good thing was a very comfortable bed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I opened the refrigerator had roaches coming out i left
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was nice and clean, excellent location... there was a coffee pot in office but no coffee....... would like coffee...
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Had an odor in room, stayed 2 days and nobody cleaned our room or did our bed or supplied us with any clean towels, tried calling office no answer
- Marcus (6/5): Not fancy at all....but doable - I have been coming to this hotel for years. Perfect location for my visits to the beach, the casino and for shopping. This is a no-frills hotel, comfortable bed, fridge and microwave. I always bring my own towels, soap and toilet tissue. Sometimes, I’ll bring my own comforter. The staff is friendly....but honestly I never really have had to deal with them for any crisis. I go to the beach, go to the casino, do a little shopping and come back to the hotel to crash. Never had an issue staying here. Not fancy at all...just a place to lay your head.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The man at the desk was very nice. The room was very outdated. No BLOWdryer and bath towels were the size of hand towels. The man said there would be coffee n the office in the morning although the office was locked with no one around. Very disappointed....
