- Jocelyn (9/5): Great family-friendly stay - Loved the onsen and the night vibe at the lobby. Breakfast buffet spread was also grea. Location is just a 5-7 min walk to the ski resort. Great facilities for kids! (Games room and playroom) Nothing!
- Loke (8/5): Find everything you need at good price, though you have to be ok with it being quite old - It has everything you need, from rental and coach, bars, onsen, washing machine, table tennis and games. Have outdoor onsen too. Staff were friendly. Great that they provided us with waterproof boots for us to walk when the floor was flooded from the melted ice. There a lot of food trucks and choices as well though I did not eat those food. Location was decent, but still need to walk a distance to ski lift It is very dated and there was a very strong ‘Chinese oil’ smell when we first entered. The bath and onsen were quite old and you can see the age in the building through the black stains in the bathroom and onsen floors. Washing machine basins were also quite dirty.

- Tericll (7/5): Perfect slope‑side location cozy tatami room, outdoor & indoor onsen, sic mountain vibes! - Loved the location, a short, great warm‑up walk to the ski lift and slopes. The room was simple and spacious, with a traditional Japanese tatami feel that added to the overall cozy atmosphere. (Tatami could be softer as personal preference) Dipping in the outdoor onsen after a long day on the slopes is such a relaxing way to end the day, the hot spring waters were very soothing. Though the hotel was a little dated, the view and location made up for it, especially to see the quiet mountain scenery around Akakura. The staff were also very kind and willing to go the extra mile to help when asked. The bathroom, as the water wouldn’t drain properly and would pool up on the floor. Even after informing the hotel, the issue wasn’t fixed throughout my stay, so I ended up using the onsen bath area daily instead. The Onsen: The wash/bath area of the onsen itself felt unclean: the floor was slimy and covered in dark‑green mold, making it slippery and unpleasant to walk on. The space also had a strong, unpleasant odor, which was disappointing, especially since the bath area is closed for cleaning for certain hours every day. I hope the hotel will thoroughly clean and fix the mold and slime on the onsen wash area floor so that future guests can enjoy the onsen in a hygienic and relaxing environment.

- Laura (10/5): Amazing!! - Close to Akakura ski area (walking distance). Walking distance to restaurants in the area. There is a shuttle bus down the street if you want to visit other ski resorts. Staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. They offer a free shuttle to and from Myokokogen train station. Rooms were extremely clean. The main highlight was the delicious buffet breakfast every morning!

If you are sensitive to mold like us it can be a bit much to deal with. Other than that nothing love it all

The staff at reception were very warm and attentive. The public spaces were chaotic with laminated signs everywhere and poorly presented venues. Some of the seasonal staff in the cafe and ski shop were disinterested in guests and more interested in talking to their friends.

- Maddie (10/5): - Perfect place to stay in Myoko! We had a great experience with Hotel Taiko. Great location! Easily walkable to the main street and to the lifts. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful when required. I asked for privacy in our room one morning and they were very accommodating and respectful. The buffet breakfast was delicious! The friendly staff serving every morning were a highlight, especially the chef making eggs!! The convenience of food trucks right outside and the hotel bar made it easy to relax in the lobby after a big day on the snow. We stayed in 2x traditional Japanese rooms, which were comfortable and relaxing. Large rooms with lots of space. The staff kindly transferred our luggage between rooms while we were out, which we appreciated!! The onsen is clean and a new experience for us Aussies. The amenities were always stocked, and we felt comfortable every single time entering. Will definitely be returning and recommending this to anyone travelling to Myoko!
- Sarika (6/5): Despite the location and the nearby facilities, our stay was unsatisfactory. - The location was ideal for snowboarders with several ski parks within 15 minutes of driving. There are plenty of quality restaurants to choose from. The room was cleaned every day and replenished. The room we were given had only one rather hidden wall socket. The shower was unacceptably weak and we had to visit the onsen place for shower, which cost us an extra 150 yen per day per person. The detergent was not free and cost another 200 yen. Inside the onsen there was no drinking water available and the only water dispenser was sometimes empty. There was a pub with good vibe but we were given a room close to the pub and the music was audible in late evenings. Breakfasts are included and may require long waiting. Tables are poorly organised and you can see one guest occupying an entire table because its not shared.

They arranged a private shuttle to pick us up from Myoko-kogen station with short notice and made check in very easy as most staff could also speak English very well. The outdoor Onsen was fantastic! Nice breakfasts and clean rooms. It's an older style resort vet quite charming and has a warm atmosphere. The owners are doing a great job and the guests all seem to enjoy this hotel like we all did. There is a ski/snowboard rental shop inside, an in house sushi restaurant, kids play area, ski gear drying room, bar and even several stalls at the entrance selling delicious street food. Futons were a bit thin for westerners, I'm sure if requested they could offer extra ones help with this but we didn't see it as this much of an issue.

Location is good, close to the main strip and walking distance to the ski fields. Room was very simple and dated, hot water limited and a bit of a maze to navigate.

Sushi Restaurant on level 2 was amazing Coffee included in breakfast was average. Onsen needs a good clean or refurbishment Cafe Bar in the Loby has potential but slow lazy young staff No focus on good service or cleaning tables

В целом все было комфортно и соответствует фотографиям Это была самая дорогая гостиница за время нашего месячного путешествия по Японии. Возможно это вызвало завышенные ожидания.

Food vans are a nice touch The onsen is amazing but having it open to the public really ruins the experience . Maybe having it open to the public for a limited couple of hours a day would improve your guests have a quieter more relaxing experience

Great Value. - A massive hotel, with all the facilities you need, large hall with buffet breakfast, onsen, onsite parking, friendly staff, ski locker, food trucks and restaurants. Conveniently located in Akakura-onsen Myoko close to the ski lifts. Recommend a car to visit dining options out of town. Very good value for money. Would stay again. Our room decor felt a little bit dated. It was clean and well appointed though.

- Victoria (8/5): - We loved our stay at hotel Taiko. The staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming and they organised our luggage delivery for us upon departure. Our room was a traditional Japanese room, it was a good size and very comfortable. The other hotel amenities were great. The onsen was awesome, breakfast each day was delicious and Sessions bar in the foyer is a great place to have a beer after a day on the mountain. The sushi restaurant on L2 is a must!! The water pressure in the room was quite weak. Its not a big deal if you are using the onsen but dont expect the shower in your room to be very hot or strong.
