Guest Reviews
- Tsz Yu (10/5): - Friendly staff , comfort and cozy place to stay here in Niseko . Definitely will be back next time! The view of mount Yotei with Hakkunso was amazing
- Sean (10/5): - Very clean, quiet hotel just a couple minute walk from the gondola. Breakfast has everything you could ask for and the staff is very nice
- Arun (10/5): Fantastic hotel for a Niseko ski trip! - Can't say enough good things about this place!
First, you can't beat the location. About a 5 min walk to the Grand Hirafu ski area (which is also a stop for the Niseko United shuttle to other ski areas), the Hirafu welcome center, Rhythm ski rentals, the village "downtown", etc.
The room was very spacious and very clean. The breakfast spread was amazing, with both western and japanese options. Lots of onsite conveniences like snacks & a coffee machine, a microwave, an onsen, a free laundry, boot drying & ski storage rooms, etc.
The hospitality was excellent, and the couple running the hotel was always willing to help with anything. They will also drop you off at the Grand Hirafu resort or the welcome center (and also pick you up from the welcome center when you first arrive).
Highly recommend this hotel if you're visiting Niseko, especially if you plan to ski Hirafu and/or check out the Hirafu village.
- Dov (10/5): Great ski stay! - Really fantastic stay. The location is great, right down from the main grand hirafu gondola and the hotel offers free drop off in the morning too. We rented from Grand hirafu annex which included storage but the hotel has ski storage too. There’s a separate men’s and women’s hot tub that’s real nice. Oh and a vending machine with beer and cocktails. The staff is super nice and helpful, overall great trip!
- Robert (10/5): - Amazing place to stay. Great facilities has everything you need to ski. 5 minute walk to gondola. breakfast is solid. service is second to none.
- Peter (10/5): - I really loved this hotel and strongly recommend it. The best parts were the hotel indoor onsen and quality of breakfast. I also enjoy the “great room” with amazing view of Mt. Yotai. It’s convenient to the Grand Niseko Gondola with a shuttle every 15 minutes. Skis can be rented across the street at Yama Sport. I slept really well every night.
- Nicole (10/5): - If you’re headed to Niseko to ski, this is absolutely the hotel you want to book. The hotel is so cute, well organized, and the staff are so nice and helpful. The other hotels in the area feel very corporate and sterile, but this hotel is warm, inviting and stood out as a family run place. It’s an easy 5 min walk to Grand Hirafu. The hotel does provide a free shuttle in the morning to Grand Hirafu if you don’t want to walk. The hotel is also an easy 10 min walk to restaurants, bars and the main downtown area of Hirafu. This hotel is also very close to Rhythm, the main ski rental shop. The rooms are large, very clean, comfortable and quiet. The free breakfast was great and the hotel sets out tea cakes/cookies, coffee and tea in the afternoon. Really can’t recommend this hotel enough. I will be staying here again the next time I’m back. Ten outta ten!
- Larry (10/5): - Great place to stay when snowboarding in Niseko. Easy walk to grand Hirafu gondola. Had a view of the volcano.
- Michael (10/5): - Free laundry, nice breakfast and ski room, seperate boot room and even a wax room with free wax! Nice location to the slopes
- Timothy (10/5): - What an awesome find. Great accommodation close to the ski lifts in niseko
- Nebiyou (10/5): - Just Amazing
- Jonathan (10/5): - Excellent location, very friendly and accommodating staff, excellent breakfast. Very good value. Highly recommend
- Alejandro (10/5): - Staff went above and beyond!!
Great space and bonus (small) onsen
Solid breakfast too
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Excellent location, facilities and service. Will be staying here again if I ever come back to Niseko. Was a wonderful hotel, with a beautiful view from my room.
- Matthew (10/5): - The staff was extremely nice, the facilities were very clean, and it was a 5 minute walk from grand Hirafu
- Jenice (10/5): - Friendly staff, impeccable standard of cleanliness.
- Adam (10/5): - Best spot ever!
- John (10/5): - We loved the Japanese hospitality! The folks that work there are awesome! The property was well thought out with ski storage and drying room, even a wax room! The onsen and laundry were nice surprises. Breakfast was delicious with lots of variety each day. We loved the toilet slippers and bidet. The beds and duvet were super comfortable! We felt like rockstars getting a lift to the hill everyday even though Grand Hirafu gondola is only a 5 minute walk. The hotel location is great! Thank you Hakuunso for making our vacation unforgettable! Betty, John, and Jackson
- Jon (10/5): - Highly Recommend Niseko Hakuunso. The staff are wonderful, friendly and really helpful. The property is clean, good sized rooms, has a calm quiet , relaxing atmosphere with awesome views from the dining area. It's perfectly located to the ski condola 250 m away although they provide a great shuttle service to save you walking each morning. 1 mins walk to the hire shops and 5 mins to the main street with restaurants. You couldn't get a more perfect location for such a reasonable price. Breakfast was great too that is provided. We will definitely be back here again
- Conor (10/5): Fantastic place to stay! - The Niseko Hakuunso was a very nice and quiet spot in a fun and lively area. It was a quick walk to everything we needed such as ski rentals, the gondola and food.
We were very happy with our stay and accomodations and would love to come back.
- Curtis (10/5): - Great Authentic Japanese hotel....great rooms with size...facilities spotless..
Staff so friendly and helpful. Masahiro was fantastic!
- Aidan (10/5): This place checks all the boxes! - Excellent trip to Niseko with great snow and a beautiful place to stay! Staff was super friendly (picked us up at the welcome center and let us check in early), breakfast was delicious, and the location was perfect! It was a perfect mix of east meets west — friendly to westerners but more traditional compared to other options in Niseko.
- Chris (10/5): - Unbelievable hotel and staff; amazing stay!!!
- Melanie (10/5): - This is a little undiscovered gem in Hirafu. Family hotel that first opened in 1960 and still run by the family. They were wonderful, so helpful with recommendations for local restaurants and events. Shuttle from hirafu welcome centre and up to the gondola in the morning for skiing. The onsen was beautiful and I was the only one in there on the 2 occasions I went. It’s very central 5/10 mins walk to town and up to the lifts/welcome centre. Thank you to all the staff at Niseko Akuunso!
- Joseph (10/5): - Great ski storage, easy access to the mountain. Helpful staff.
- Craig (10/5): - Fantastic stay at Hakuunso.
Great staff and nice rooms with a great location to the Gondola.
Facilities all top notch, had amazing snow also.
- Gail (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Its location was convenient as we were only a few minutes away from Rhythm, which is where we rented our gear and the lift to access the slopes.
I'd also like to recognize the staff for their assistance. They were very helpful when making accommodations and very kind. We had to leave early in the morning before their breakfast buffet opened and the staff had come in early to pack us breakfast.
I highly recommend this place.
- Ling (10/5): - Clean rooms, great location close to the slopes with on-site onsen.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet, clean and the staffs was most helpful and courteous to me and my guest.
- Frank (10/5): - For the price, relative to other places in Niseko, this Hakuunso is a great value. You can walk to and from the gondola in 5 minutes. It is not a 5-star hotel, so don't expect similar amenities and service, but the on-site small onsen was a pleasant surprise. A centrally located, gas-fireplace would really add to the ambiance.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful family run hotel. Excellent location. Breakfast was great.
- Charlie (10/5): - Great location (super short walk to the hirafu gondola and 10 minute walk to town centre), awesome private onsen, lovely lovely hospitality and a wide variety available for breakfast. Pick up and drop off service also very convenient
- Mark (10/5): - The rooms had modern finishes and were very well kept. The location of the hotel was fantastic. The hotel was a slightly up hill walk to the Grand Hirafu Welcome center and a shuttle was available every morning. The hotel was also a 5-10 min walk from all the restaurants and bars located in the Grand Hirafu area. The staff was extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to help with the Ta-Q-Bin shipping service. I highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.
- Buena (10/5): - We love Hakuunso because it is very clean, very peaceful and simple. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly. All the rooms were just located in the ground floor so it is very accessible. There’s free coffee, tea and water and self-service laundry. The location is close to convenience stores, restaurants and ski shops. We had a very relaxing stay. We will definitely stay here again.
- Patrick (10/5): - Large room, beautiful view of Mount Yotei, very friendly and supportive staff, very convenient shuttle to the slopes - we were very happy with our stay!
- Vaché (10/5): - Loved the location. Their breakfast was a nice surprise. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely consider staying here again
- Peter (10/5): Great location for a Niseko ski trip. - Awesome place for a ski trip to Niseko. The location is excellent, just a few blocks from the Hirafu base and close to the action in Hirafu Center. The hotel is immaculate and the rooms and excellent. Breakfast is wonderful and the staff are amazing. Would stay there again in a minute!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. The property is very pretty and the room is very spacious. Enjoy the breakfast and afternoon snacks. Staff are helpful and friendly. Location is perfect.
- RC (10/5): - This property was very relaxing. Simple rooms but everything you’d need. Amenities charmingly Japanese but they knew their western market well. Breakfast options were plentiful and good; tea was a nice treat. Post dinner dessert was very hard to resist. Staff were just lovely.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. The hotel has a wonderful design and the staff pays attention to all kinds of little details to really make your stay welcoming and special. The breakfast buffet has a great mix of Japanese and Western food and they have snacks and not drinks in the afternoon. Would definitely stay again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): best value for your money - The hotel emailed me and asked whether I will need a ride from the Hirafu Welcome Center to the hotel. Our bus was supposed to arrive at 10 PM and I was happy to have arranged for this ride because I was traveling with a snowboard with very little knowledge of the local area. The bus arrived earlier than expected, at 932 PM. While everyone else on the bus waited for their rides in the freezing weather, our ride was there with the engine running. He welcomed us into a beautiful space with a high ceiling. They had thought of everything, the shoe closets, a "drying room" for our jackets and a board locker with a key. They had offered us slippers and a traditional robe to lounge in. The floor was so clean and gleaming--definitely cleaner than my house. The room had one bed and when I said there was a mistake, the gentlemen immediately went to work and converted the bed to two beds. The toilet was one of those complicated devices that had more buttons than a Texas Instrument. It always offered a warm seat in the middle of the night and squirted warm water after defecation. I had no idea I needed this luxurious toilet in my life until now. The floor was heated and the temperature inside the hotel was always perfect. Its free breakfast...wow. It had grilled fish, two types of soup, pastries, eggs, pork and so many other options, healthy options. Everything tasted fresh and so delicious. I will go back there just to eat the breakfast, with a grand view of Mount Yotei. In the morning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a great hotel. The onsen is near spotles, the rooms are clean, and the breakfast is substantial.
- Carey (10/5): A five star lodge with a 3 star price tag. - A five star lodge with a 3 start price tag.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel is new and clean. Big rooms. 3 mins walk to gondola base. Hotel staffs are polite and nice. They offered to pick up and send you to the welcome centre during check in and out, strongly recommend this hotel!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is excellent, location is good, there are shuttle bus to the gondola. They even help you to return the equipment to the rental store.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really good would use again. Tidy friendly convenient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very thoughtful arrangements around the hotel. Spacious rooms with a great view of Mount Yotei. Loved the breakfast and free snacks prepared for guests. Very clean hotel including the ski equipment storage and dry rooms.
- OJC (10/5): - Excellent hotel in the best location. Walking distance from Hirafu centre bars and restaurants and also walking distance from the main gondala. However, the hotel run a shuttle bus to the gondala each morning saving you the walk!!!
Rooms are spacious and well set out and the Onsen is perfect for post ski relaxation!
Breakfast is fine for western tastes and coffee is very good.
I highly recommend this hotel and if I’m back in town I’d certainly stay again. Thanks for a great holiday x
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location for lift access - The hotel has been renovated to a lovely standard in general. The rooms were a decent size with nice facilities. Personally I found the bed a bit small and uncomfortable and if you are a light sleeper like me the lack of sufficient room noise insulation may be bothersome. Breakfast was a great selection of western and Japanese options. The afternoon snacks were a nice touch.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location by the gondola, fantastic staff, in house onsen.
- PingChing (10/5): - The hotel is comfy and spacious. The staff is friendly n helpful.
- Timothy (10/5): Charming, excellent view. - We checked-in late but the staff were kind enough to provide us service and checked-in as per normal, even though they were sleeping by the time we got there. The common area where we had breakfast was magnificent and the view of Mt. Yotei was spectacular. They had a bathhouse for men and women on each wing and was also a nice Japanese touch. The hotel is not as large as most other chain-type hotels but it was very comfortable and I'd no doubt revisit if I had the chance.
- Anthony (10/5): Excellent - Excellent place to stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only a few minutes walk to everything.
- Nicole (10/5): Stay here! - Stop looking around for a hotel in Niseko and just stay here! The building is beautiful and right next to the gondola, but somehow the price is extremely reasonable. Breakfast is included and is absolutely delicious with a combination of Western and Japanese offerings. The staff is welcoming and attentive and really goes above and beyond. We had to leave at 6:00 am to catch the train and they booked us a taxi, woke up early to see us out, and handed us breakfast to go. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful family-run hotel and if we come back to Niseko we will absolutely come back to Hakuunso.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely hotel, comfortable Onsen, close to Hirafu gondola base (100 meter walk).
- Benedict (10/5): - Great location. Walkable to Gondila Ski, Hirafu-zaka Base and Family Ski and near many eateries and restaurants. The hotel is also easily one of the cleanest and most organise hotel ideal for skiers and snowboarders.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a magical little place! It was so quiet and clean. With tons of amenitities such as laundry, onsen, bath towels, robs, slippers, etc.
Breakfast was great with good variety.
They will drive you to Grand Hirafu gondola or Welcome Center in the morning and you walk home after. It’s a very short walk regardless (5min or less)
The rooms are big for Japan standards and very clean!
Onsen is great for the after skiing sore legs. It’s quiet and very modern.
Very close to walk to all the restaurants and shops of Niseko.
Overall this family run place was amazing and exceeded all my expectations.
THANK YOU!
- Andrew (10/5): Amazing! - 2nd time staying here and again it was amazing!! Definitely going back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great balance between western an eastern amenities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay in niseko!! - Amazing stay at Niseko Hakuunso! It was a quick walk to the gondola and a great location for skiing. The staff were extremely friendly and helped with all of our needs. Would definitely recommend staying here! Rooms are nice and hotel is extremely clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our room was lovely! My mum and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. Breakfast was sumptuous and we were happy with the food. Once you are done with your skiing, you would definitely want to soak in their indoor onsen and watch the snow fall from the inside
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay. Great location minutes walk to the gondola. Friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely highly recommend this hotel.
- Xiaolong (10/5): Highly highly recommended! - Great service and great facility and staffs really care about the guest. One of the best hotel experience I have ever had I shall say. Complementary breakfast is great, not to say 24 hour coffee and free afternoon tea time. It really makes you feel like home. Also super convenient location, 5 minutes walk from Gondola and ten minutes to most of the fancy restaurants in town.
We need to leave early (6am) to catch a train. The staff booked us the taxi and was waiting for us at 5:45am when I got to the front desk. They even prepared us to-go breakfast!
Oh, and it's also more affordable compared to those Niseko named apartment hotels.
- Henry (10/5): - Clean, easy access to the Hirafu ski resort. Very nice service
- Faith (10/5): nice warm and cosy Japanese run hotel - it is a modern decorated yet traditionally run Japanese style hotel. it makes you feel you are back to home everyday when you come back from your activity. they don't provide a lot of choices for breakfast but for me and my son it is good enough to have a good meal every morning. staffs are friendly and polite, the environment is always warm and yet quite. We enjoy the stay and will definitely come back.
- Yuen Yee Joann (8/5): - Clean n neat, bearkfast is good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing place to stay for niseko ski vacation. - Absolutely amazing experience. Impeccable service. We took the bus to the welcome center and the staff promptly picked us up upon our arrival. Great location near niseko ski areas and town. The onsens were kept extremely clean. The beds are slightly firmer than what US travelers are used to but you quickly get used to that. Daily breakfast is included and is a mix of Japanese and more western options and seating has gorgeous views of mount yoeti.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic small hotell - Great hotel, lovely property w nice baths and close to Hirafu gondola. Service was immaculate and very friendly, really recommend staying here for skiing in Niseko!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent - Best place iv ever stayed in my life. Good rooms and close to everything.
- jarryd (10/5): Comfortable warm hospitality - Perfect location only 5 min walk to the Grand Hirafu main gondola, and 5 mins to the main intersection of Niseko. We'll maintained modern facilities, spacious rooms (ask for a view of Mt Yotei), and friendly staff.
All in all I would happily recommend this location to others, and will definitely been staying again on our next trip
- Edwin (10/5): Fantastic Hotel - Hotel staff are fantastic and check in was easy, its an easy walk into town as well as to the Ski slopes
Hotel rooms are comfortable and well maintained, Breakfast each morning was fantastic with many choices. The view out to Mt Yotei through the big open window is incredible
When i come back i will be staying here again
- Lucas (8/5): Overpriced and not very nice - The hotel was very simple - for the price, we were hoping for more luxury and service. The beds were not comfortable and the rooms were small. I recommend looking for more upscale options in the area or looking for better details
- Christine (10/5): Cozy Japanese style hotel - This is a very nice small hotel near to the gondola station. It takes 5 minutes to walk there. The hotel is peaceful and tranquil with around 20 rooms in total. Sure, it will help you to relax.
The common area is warm and comfortable Ruth high ceiling. The decoration is homey but modern.
Breakfast is good with variety of choices.
The people there are really helpful and friendly. They offer free pick up service from Hirafu Welcome Center.
The only downside is no meal service (lunch and dinner) are provided.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy getaway in a snowy town - The moment we walked into Hakuunso, if felt like a warm hug all around. The lobby is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful. True to Japanese custom, you take your shoes off at the entrance and can store them in a shoe-closet that is assigned to your room. The layout of getting in and out with your ski gear is convenient. From the outside, you can walk through a ski storage area, which is directly connected to a dry room you can drop your clothes and boots off in. The room is ventilated and smells very nice! I highly recommend taking a bath in their onsen after a long day of skiing. The temperature of the water was perfect -- not too hot where you burn your skin, but warm enough to get your body back to normal. The breakfast was buffet style with a variety of food, both western and Japanese, which starts at 7:30am. My only complaint is that they didn't start breakfast earlier. The slopes open at 8:30am, and I would have liked a little more time after breakfast to get up and running earlier. The rooms are very nice and has everything you need with plenty of space. We stayed in hallway C which offered a wonderful view of Mount Yotei. Highly recommend staying at Hakuunso!
