- Tim (10/5): - Ehat an amazing find... right in the heart of Patan literally next to historic Durbar Square ! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the room was the best sanctuary for me.
I cannot rate Temple house more highly.
Footnote : I stayed at the Kathmandu Guest House as I stayed there 43 years ago, but it was a real disappointment after Temple House ... surly staff, overpriced and thenroom was pokey ...

Tout était parfait. Rien

- Judith (6/5): Authentic property - Authentic experience in Newari house. Very steep stairs. Very dark room. Noisy early morning.
- Veronika (9/5): Great location friendly staff would visit again thank you - Location ,friendliness of staff good breakfast great coffee Really liked the hotel however…
Steep stairs to the room, no room service the second day we needed to ask for fresh towels did the bed on my own and bin was full that could be improved also no more water bottle was supplied on second day no tea and coffee bags.
There was also no space to put anything down in the bathroom like a cosmetic bag.
- Bence (8/5): -
- ABILASH (8/5): - Traditional rooms and location Breakfast needs improvement
- Berenike (7/5): - Truly an exceptional experience. It's a beautiful building with super cozy, historical rooms! The breakfast is standard Nepalese. The location is awesome! Very comfy bed. The shower didn't really work, it was just a dribble of boiling hot water. During the winter time in Kathmandu, that was not so comfortable. The historical wooden windows don't have any additional class windows, so until the road quiets down at ~ 21:30, it's very noisy. And from 6.00 there is a bell, that sometimes gets rung. I would totally stay here again during the summer, but not during the winter again, I was wearing my winter coat the entire time I was staying in the room.

- SHAHNAZ (10/5): Hidden Gem at Patan Durbar Square - Location, facilities and staff. Hot water took a while coming. Steep steps so not suitable for the elderly of families with young children.
- Prinjo (7/5): - Breakfast continental type : toasted bread with butter/jam, egg dishes, fruit cut pcs
Coffee with milk great
In total, break fast was excellent
Location: Very close to Patan Darbar Museum, Temple and market area, so small roads which not convenient during busy day time traffic Very old type traditional building
Wooden roof type on each floor very low, so good height and weight persons will struggle to climb on wooden stairs considering head to touch on roof, even in side the rooms, wash room have same situation.
As if some one likes to live very traditional and historic place, this is one of the best ! as well !
- Jim (8/5): Very enjoyable stay. Traditional style in heart of Patan, great hosts, good breakfast, good vibe and much charm. - Traditional style in heart of Patan, great hosts, good breakfast, good vibe. Much charm. Good view from roof. Room decor etc a bit faded and perhaps dusty which detracted from the charm a little - could easily be updated and refreshed to make it much smarter.

- James (9/5): Lovely stay in a historic property - This is a charming property, an old historic building that has been lovingly restored keeping all the historic details. The bed was comfortable. The room was spacious. It is right in the heart of Lalitpur (Patan). You ca walk to everything. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. The water pressure was a bit weak in the shower.
- Heather (10/5): - Temple House is a family run business in a traditional Newari house. The location is fantastic - just on the edge of Patan Durbar Square. Staff are friendly and very helpful, and knowledgeable about the local area. It's also excellent value for money.
- Bnie89 (9/5): - Very nice style of the place. The room was also decently "sized" compared to other options in Katmandu. Most of all, the staff is very welcoming, kind and helpful to support any information or request
- Juergen (9/5): - The hotel ist located in the heart of Patan, just a few meters away from Patan Durbar Square in a narrow street. It is located in a traditional Newari house. Stairs could be a bit steep for elderly and ceilings are a but low for very tall.people. But this is the price for staying inbsuch lovely hotel.
- Sam (9/5): - Staff were fabulous 👌
- Ketan (10/5): Excellent service, kind people and brilliant location - Excellent staff The plug sockets were tricky to hold in plugs
- Mary (9/5): -
- Claude (10/5): - L'endroit où aller
Emplacement numéro 1 a côté durbar square
Gentillesse, personnel serviable
Belle maison traditionnelle newar Rien
- Kiran (10/5): Great Location, Great Staff - Just a few steps away from The world Heritage site Patan Durbar Square. An authentic Newari home stay experience. The staff were very hospitable and went out of their way to assist. Missing a few modern features, such as TV, Hairdryer.
Good to note for older or less mobile guests, there are a lot of authentic traditional stairs.
- Roberto (10/5): - Beautiful place and perfect locartion Stairs arent so friendly for big luggage
- Shahina (7/5): - The building was very beautiful, the interior of the room was lovely too. The staff were super nice. I had the best cup of milk tea of my life here, was really good It was a little bit noisy at all hours of the day. Close to a lot of restaurants so a lot of music playing throughout the day.
I didn't like that there were no pillow cases on the pillows. It felt a little bit unsanitary

- Silvia (9/5): All in all your perfect home in Patan, we recommend!!! - It's a familial hotel, very close (30m) to Patan Durbar Square (impossible to find a better location in this historical area). The hotel is a traditional building, well preserved, the staff very helpful, thanks to Satish and all of them!
The tenant has also a lovely restaurant on the square, where you may enjoy very good food and a fantastic view.
If you are interested in a true Nepali experience in Kathmandu, we recommend this hotel!!! If you don't know Nepali, be sure that your special request is well understood.
- Sharif (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Reoch (10/5): Historical, beautiful, comfortable, convenient and friendly! - Everything!! The character and architecture of the building, the spacious rooms (although it has low ceilings, as is part of the history of the place), the water, tea and coffee facilities, a big, comfortable bed, and such kind and lovely staff. Nothing was too much bother. And as others have mentioned, you're not going to find a better location! It's right by Patan's Durbar Square, with cafes on your doorstep, and yet, because of how the street's located, it doesn't have much through-traffic, aka not so many noisy motorbikes as in other places. It was hands down my favourite hotel in Nepal. Patan is such a great part of the Kathmandu valley. I'm so glad we stayed 2 nights, as there is so much to see!
- Laura (9/5): Great location in beautiful traditional house - Excellent location, just steps from Patan Durbar Square and in a cute alley with lots of restaurants and bars. Fun to walk around the area and soak in the local atmosphere. Beautiful traditional house with kind and very helpful staff. It was hot when we were there but there was a powerful pedestal fan and windows on both sides of the room so we cooled down wonderfully. Staff spoke great English and were very helpful in organising taxis, and making sure our car on arrival went to the right location. Steep stairs up to the top levels but the staff helped carry bags.
- Lavinia (10/5): Exceptional - Simply wonderful
- Gisela (9/5): Good experience - It is very good value for money , the service is good , very friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed my stay.

- Alexis (6/5): Mixture of Pluses and Minuses - Location is perfect. Guys at reception are interesting and up for a chat. Nice old original rooms with timber shuttered (no glass) windows, nice timber floors, timber columns and low ceilings. Street out front (hard up against the building) is too narrow for cars (so no car traffic). Only 4 guest rooms (one on each floor). Price is fair IMO. Breakfast very basic but OK from my perspective. I really liked the place and would go back; but my wife thought there were too many negatives to return. Bed linen was pretty old and thin. Room cleanliness was below par. Timber shuttered windows let street noise through (including from motorbikes/scooters using the narrow street immediately below). On the first night, we were under the flight path of departing jets and their noise made it difficult to sleep. On the second night, the jets were using a different flight path (maybe a wind change meant they took off in the opposite direction or banked differently) and the jet noise wasn’t a significant issue. Definitely want to have your favourite set of earplugs with you. Bathroom on ground floor is heavily used by everyone and is pretty rough/old - use the bathroom in your room if this is going to worry you.

- John (9/5): Fabulous location - Set in a great location just off Patan Durbar square on a quiet lane. Large comfortable rooms and helpful staff. Steep stairs and small bathroom
- Salima (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! Beautiful rooms in an old Nepalese house. Fabulous attention to detail in the traditional style decor, scrupulously clean, all amenities provided, wonderful location just a few metres from Durbar Square, welcoming and friendly staff Nothing! Experience living in a traditional style Nepali house. If you want a conventional western style hotel this may not be for you. I didn't find the stairs a problem at all, unlike some reviewers.
- Bob (10/5): Clean, comfortable, great staff very near Patan Durbar Square. - Very clean and comfortable and a good location very near Patan Durbar Square. The staff was excellent, very helpful with any questions we had and very helpful with arranging taxis for us. Breakfast was good. The rooms were a bit dark, but if the shutters were open it was plenty of light.
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place at best location, beautifully decorated and very cosy rooms in traditional nepalese style and such helpful and pleasant staff, a very nice and pleasant experience.
- Facundo (7/5): Good -
- Bruno (9/5): Superb stay enhanced by the excellent staff - Location is superb...2 mins from Durbar square. Staff are excellent. Satish(owner) was very helpful in arranging excursions. Room A3 was spacious and comfortable. Nothing of any significance

- Kelly (9/5): Great breakfast, so close to the main square. It is about 25 minutes from Thamel… open the wooden shutters and watch the - The character. A beautiful old Nepalese home turned into a hotel in the heart of historic Patan. My 6’3” husband had to bend down a lot! You need to specify clearly if you have children and need an extra bed.
