Guest Reviews
- Diane (6/5): - The room smelled like cat urine.
- Tim (6/5): - The check-in was outdated and archaic. From start to finish, check-in took about 30 minutes because (1) NO ONE WAS AVAILABLE AT THE FRONT DESK and the office was locked, and (2) the man who did the actual check-in "forgot his glasses" and he took forever to complete everything.
- Heidi (10/5): - The cleanliness was excellent here.Perfect for what we were looking for.
Will be back for sure.
- Andrew (6/5): - The property was alright but nothing to write home about.
- Rosalinda (6/5): Liked! - Clean, small. Only complaint- its rather dark.
- Ronnalee (8/5): - Nothing fancy but it was clean and did the trick for our one night stay
- Terre (8/5): - Nice, clean and quiet.
- CLIFFORD (8/5): HARBOR SPRINGS - It was clean, neat for an upnorth older motel. Location for hARBOR SPRINGS was very good.
- Justine (10/5): - Very dog friendly with lots of green grass to walk your dog. Close to the beach, set off the road. Nice and peaceful at night.
- Bruce (10/5): - A small, clean quiet place very convenient to the lake.
- Julie (10/5): Perfection - We were so pleasantly surprised with our stay. To be honest, our expectation was very low. This was a last minute over night trip and the only place with an available room. The hotel was very simple but clean, clean, clean. The tub, shower was bright clean white. The floors were spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels that were not as comfortable as the bed we slept in. No musty smell at all. We’ll definitely stay again.
- Megan (8/5): - This motel is suitable for a brief stay if you require a place to rest. However, I would not suggest it for an extended period. The motel is somewhat aged and could benefit from updating. The only waste receptacle was located in the bathroom, and it utilized a Dollar Tree shopping bag instead of a proper garbage bag. Upon arrival, we also noticed toilet paper beneath the toilet and hair in the shower. Although we only stayed for one night, another guest inquired about the frequency of linen changes, fresh towels, and garbage bag replacements, which raises concerns about the suitability of staying longer.
Despite these shortcomings, the motel served its purpose and provided convenient proximity to my grandparents' residence for the Fourth of July celebrations.
Conveniently located, the motel is situated near a restaurant, with a Dollar General store adjacent to it. A gas station is just down the road, and a car wash is across the street. Given that Harbor Beach is a small town, a pleasant walk of approximately a mile will lead you to the town's center, and a further mile or so will take you to the beach.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A little roadside motel like you would find on route 66 back in the 50s and 60s. A nice little room with a shower and a bed.
- Nathan (8/5): - Motel was clean and tidy. Close to “downtown” area for food, drinks, beach.
- Sandra (8/5): - Clean room. Easy checkin. Pet friendly.
- Tim (6/5): - No great expectations.
- Robert (6/5): - Couldn't get the TV to come on and need better lighting inside.
- James (10/5): - We would definitely stay at the Harbor Beach Inn again.Rooms were clean and comfy. I highly recommend this place.Within minutes of the beach.
- Patricia A (10/5): - Beds were really comfortable, rooms were very clean, and the staff was accommodating. We were very pleased!
- Denis (8/5): Only book in a emergency - For the cost we have stayed in bigger rooms.
The rooms were very small the double queen beds weren't even matched matresses
- Dorothy (10/5): - Perfect spot for our stay in Harbor Beach at half the price and much closer than big chain hotels in Bad Axe. Place was nicely updated since the last time we were here. Beds were comfortable, room was clean amd cozy, restaurant next door was convenoent for meals. Perfect!
- Lisa (10/5): - It was the cutest friendliest little town ever!
- Celeste (8/5): - Safe and convenient store and diner next to property
- Shirley (10/5): - We were impressed with the comfortable beds and the cleanliness. Although it is an older property and smaller room than we are accustomed to, it has all the conveniences of the franchise facilities, wifi, refrigerator, microwave, in room coffee. We plan to go back there again when in Harbor Beach.
- John (10/5): - Nice people and good service, thanks!
- carol (10/5): MT - Nice place.
- Tammy (6/5): - The bed was comfortable.
- travis (8/5): - Nice place to settle for the day
- David (8/5): Good stay - It was a decent stay. Nice two star place. Nice owners. Too expensive for what you get.
- Sally (2/5): - What you see on their website is not accurate. They have spitball that greets you showing his teeth and growling as you enter. One of the staff had to corral it into another room. The rooms carpeting was dirty. The tile entry way dirty the AC was working barely. The Bathroom was clean. My sister and I never brought any of our luggage into room and asked for our money back and did tell us of nicer rooms and hotels in Port Austin but said they couldn’t refund my money.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - we didnt even stay the night
- Mark (10/5): - I stayed here for four nights and would recommend. Room was very clean and staff was polite. Zero issues.
- Amy (8/5): - Very clean and well maintained. Room and bathroom were small.
- Amanda (8/5): - My only concern was that the door inly has a lock on the door knob. No dead bolt. Otherwise very clean and nice updates!
- Harold (8/5): - simple, adequate,
- Anthony (10/5): - The staff were very helpful and friendly.
- Evelyn (10/5): - This is are 3rd year stay. It's clean, close to restaurants and the beach.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cleanest motel ever! - Honestly, this was the cleanest motel I've ever stayed at. Super quaint and cute, and no trouble with our dogs staying with us for a not-so-unreasonable charge. The owners were very friendly and check in was easy. As others have mentioned, the walls are a bit thin, but at least there aren't people stomping around upstairs like at the last Marriott I stayed at (because there is no upstairs). Definitely give it a try!
- Joseph (4/5): - The owners were very nice, but this is an older smaller property. Very unique but unless you want your room to be the experience of your visit it isn't great. Not a lot of options in Harbor Beach though, that is something the city should be looking at fixing. We left Harbor Beach three days earlier than intended because the room was tiny and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Drove to Imlay City, paid $2 more a night for a suite that was 3-4 times larger, had two queen beds, a jacuzzi tub and continental breakfast.
- Tyna (10/5): - I really liked the way I was welcomed. Her husband helped
me get the key out of my rental car. My room was clean &
I felt safe. In the room, they had papers to differnt restaurants & phone numbers to differant places. If I'm
every in Harbor Beach again I will stay there.
- Bette (10/5): friendly place to stay - The hotel is a small personally run hotel. The owner is very friendly. The hotel has some age to it but it has been well maintained.
- Laurrie (8/5): - Pros: There was enough coffee in the room for two people to have at least 3 cups of coffee each!! So many other hotels just don't give you enough coffee to get going in the morning. This hotel is not fancy but was very clean.
Cons: We booked a queen bed, but it was only a full size. The walls are very thin. You can hear your neighbors talking. The staff was very friendly but they were outside smoking when we arrived. It just looks unprofessional. Over all not too bad.
- Bruce (8/5): - Staff was friendly. Met the owner, very pleasant fellow.
- Anthony (10/5): - It is very easy to walk to the down town area and the beach.
- Margaret (4/5): - very run down
- Richard (10/5): - Motel was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.
- Michael (8/5): - Simple and clean
- Patrick (2/5): - Not one thing is likable it is not a real hotel open for business. I better get my money back from the 100 year old behind the desk.
- Paul (6/5): - The price was higher than I booked. Owner hard to deal with. They could not understand the problem. I overpaid by $30. Not happy. I will complain with Expedia. Did I say I was not happy? Motel ok but the people running it no so good.
- amber (10/5): - Cleanest and safest property I've stayed on for quite a while. Super friendly staff, very welcoming especially to my dog. It's difficult to find a place to stay when traveling with animals. Not many amenities for the price, but that's my only complaint. And even at that I'll definitely be booking with them again next time thru. Thank you for the hospitality.
- Nancy (8/5): - Next to dollar store and close to lake huron
- Suzanne (8/5): - Property is older but clean.
- Krisine (8/5): - We were in town for a funeral the next day. We needed a clean facility and a comfy bed. That is exactly what we got. This is a small old style “motel”, which is what we expected and met our needs well.
- Daryl (10/5): - The room was very nice and clean.
They should have a drop box for the key when checking out.
- michelle (6/5): - Typical ole' roadside Motel f you get what you pay for. It appears that they are working on updating things, the room was clean some stains on floor ,no biggie, the hot water trickled when turned on in bathroom sink, the beds were uncomfortable.
There is a dollar general conveniently located in front of motel you can walk to for last minute needs.
- Kelly (8/5): - The room was clean, beds comfortable, however for some reason the room itself was extremely humid, even with the window a/c on as well as the ceiling fan. The rate to rent this average motel room was extremely high and likely due to the surrounding area, which seems to be more upscale. However, just because you can charge that outrageous amount, doesn't mean you should. Overall happy, with the exception of the rate.
- Kay (10/5): - We had a great stay. Carl was very hospitable. Clean rooms, pleasant people.
- Chuck (8/5): - property needs a little TENDER LOVING CARE
- virgil (10/5): - Cool and quaint old school motel. Super comfortable beds. Bathroom was immaculate. Microwave, fridge, etc.
- Sarah (10/5): - It’s a 1950’s era motel, but our room had been renovated and was very nice. It had everything we needed and was sparkling clean.
- Mary (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful. Area very nice and peaceful. We will definitely stay there again.
- bryan (8/5): - Old motel that has been updated. Room was small but clean. It was pricey on Expedia to start with, and we had to add another $20.00 for our dog. Staff was very friendly.
- Troy (8/5): - The room could have been a little cheaper for the spring. Not much to do in the area.
- Karen (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and nice also.
- Bret (10/5): - Our stay was good, everything was clean and nice.
Early in the evening there was an issue with plumbing and toilets flushing, the staff informed us of issue, and took actions to have it promptly fixed.
I was pleased and impressed with their fast actions.
We've stayed there many times in the past, I have always been happy with everything.
- Andrew (2/5): - The room smelled moldy and horrible. There was hair in the tub. It was so disgusting that we left after 5 minutes of being there with no refund. Don’t go to this hotel, it stinks
- Dawn (2/5): - The rooms are aged and the carpets need to be cleaned. There were damp towels behind our bathroom door and the floor is bad so the toilet was crooked. There is a smell that can’t be identified. Customer service was sub-par. Despite all of that, the worst was the unexpected fees we were charged upon check in. There was an extra $10 fee for a third person (we included the number of people in our party when we booked the room), there was an extra $15 fee for booking the room during a weekend, what??? And then other random fees. All together we were charged almost $30 more than we agreed to and would have stayed elsewhere for that price. I will be contacting Expedia tomorrow.
- Henry (8/5): - The quiet and clean room, floor, bathroom, NO musty smell, plus a comfortable bed made the HBI a worthwhile.place to stay. The room a/c unit in the wall was powerful and kept the humid August summer air under dehumidified and well cooled.
- susan (6/5): - The property old needs to be spruced up
- Marlene (8/5): - it was a 12 room place, clean and suited on needs for a night , reunion was great
- Carol (8/5): - Close to a wonderful beach and lighthouse. Great Smalles restaurant in town.
Carol Alt
- Chester (10/5): - This is a very nice place to stay... very clean and a great location right by downtown Harbor Beach. Many places to eat within walking distance.
- Jerry (10/5): - Convenient location and comfortable stay for our travel.
- thomas (10/5): - Clean, close to town & my property
- Peter (10/5): Hidden Gem - Thisis an older property, but it is in excellent condition. The room is clean. The area is quiet. The bed is comfortable. The wifi worked well. We will stay here again, next time we pass through 😃
- Tanya (10/5): Great service - The rooms were very updated and clean for the price .
- Lundon (2/5): - This place was Dirty , mattress was brown from age and smoke. Empty liquor bottles were stored under a table outside the office. This place should be closed. DO NOT STAY HERE
- THOMAS OR KAREN (10/5): - Good location near my family members, clean & accommodating & friendly staff!
- Robert (10/5): - Everything was very nice. There's nothing that I disliked
- Lisa M (10/5): - Very clean. Bathrooms looked newly renovated. But water pressure was low and not hot enough for a good soak in the tub. Also no ice machine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean, refrigerator, microwave.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The small town feel.Plus table and chairs.Right outside your room.To enjoy the weather .nothing fancy just homey.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean and comfortable place to stay. We didn’t use, however there is a grill available for make a great grilled meal (provide your own charcoal and lighter). Not large enough for three ladies getting ready in morning and lightning is poor, although we managed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to everything, very friendly staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet area in a quiet town. Comfortable room with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, good TV.
I enjoyed my stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - If you are looking for a quiet, clean place to lay your head while you explore the area, this is the place. Its not fancy, but its comfortable. The rooms have a fridge and microwave. I will definitely go back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to the events we were attending. Stayed 2 nights. Slight problem with air conditioner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convenient location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely little motel, not fancy but sparkling clean, and comfortable. As a solo traveler, I felt safe.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is a small town and this motel is geared toward temporary travelers and not business or large families. No food service, even the town has limited resources. Does have microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker (four cup pot). No hair dryer provided. Small table primarily for eating, not working. Kind of reminds me of places I stayed growing up when we were coast fishing...all you needed was a bed and a shower. Does have good TV channel selection.
- Dave (2/5): - No cell.or WiFi. Huge disappointment as it was my birthday and I was supposed to FaceTime with my daughter and our grandchildren which I never got to do. We told them we were leaving they said that wasn’t a problem they would reimburse us. And then at checkout they charge me an additional $25 for cleaning the room early which is ridiculous. I will never stay there again and I don’t recommend that place to anyone. I plan to dispute the additional $25 charge with my credit card company. Very disappointed. They had empty liquor bottles and trash outside one of the rooms that was cleaned right away. It was there the day we arrived and on the morning we left. Since we plan to return to that area because we are considering buying property there we know we won’t be staying there and found a lovely new place right on Lake Huron at the same cost. This place gives you a bad name
- Tiffany (10/5): Very Accommodating - We were in town for a funeral for a close friend and the staff was incredibly accommodating. We had basically taken over all of the rooms and were able to hang around a fire and have a great time. Highly recommend for a place to stay for the night.
