All top notch and consistent with the reviews. Clean quiet single room was exactly what I needed to work and rest between seeing the sights. The night staff person was always on the phone screen and didn’t seem very available to connect or provide any info to the guests. Felt more like they were just there in case something was needed vs being of service. The rest of the crew was amazing and super and always looked you in the eyes and said hello and offered great suggestions on what to do and where to go.

- Phoebe (10/5): Perfect hostel - Stayed here multiple times and loved it. Really friendly staff, big comfy beds that feel really private even though they are in a dorm. Love the big bathroom with plenty of showers and toilets. Breakfast included is delicious!! Really handy location, right in the old town. 711, good restaurants and spas right next door. Definitely recommend!!

It's often that men and women sleep in one bed and engage in sexual activity. 1, First, the location is right next to the street, and the noise from motorcycles and other vehicles is extremely loud until midnight, making it impossible to sleep. 2, There's a transsexual man receptionist who is neither male nor female; he smokes cannabis every day in the hostel, and the place reeks of it. His attitude is extremely rude. There's another short-haired man with a small mustache and dark skin who speaks Chinese; I don't know if he's Chinese or Thai, but his attitude is also extremely rude. The hostel feels like a mafia operation. 3, The guests are a mixed bunch. It's common to see men and women sleeping in the same bed and engaging in sexual activity, accompanied by strange moaning and laughter. I felt like I was sleeping in a massive group sex scene in a red-light district. When I complained to the staff, they looked at me with a big fuss expression and said it is a hostel, and men and women could sleep in the same bed—it was allowed. This shocked me. I don't know if this is a characteristic of Chiang Mai hostels or just this particular hostel. If I hadn't already booked several nights' stay, I would have moved to another hostel. 4, Because I didn't sleep well all night because of a man and a woman having sex in the same bed and making noise, I gave a bad review. As a result, I was loudly threatened and verbally abused by the staff, who said their boss didn't welcome me staying there and told me to get out. Yes, especially the transsexual man and the black-skinned, mustachioed receptionist; their attitude was extremely rude. This place didn't feel like a normal hostel; it felt like a shady establishment run by gangsters. 5, On the first night, when I found a man and a woman having sex in the same bed, I asked to cancel my booking and find another place to stay, but they refused. After I had given them a bad review, they maliciously and unilaterally canceled my last night's booking.

It was very hard to sleep in the dorms, the door of the room is right next to the beds and its very noisy, but also the room felt like had no isolation from outside noises, you could hear people on the first floor talking from the third floor. Hard to socialise since there’s no common activity. The drying machine didn’t work, I ended up with all my clothes wet and reception gave no solution or even offered to return me the coins. I think they were already aware of the malfunctioning.

I would have liked to have two key cards to enter the room. Sometimes we want to go out separately, or even going to the bathroom becomes an act of planning haha. The cleaning staff work very hard and the place is generally kept quite clean. 我去过三十多个国家，这可能是我住过体验最差的旅舍之一，所以我真的很难理解它为什么会有这么高的评分。 首先，前台工作人员的态度非常冷漠，几乎没有任何服务意识。办理入住时只是把房卡递给我，没有介绍任何设施或服务。我直到快离开时才知道这里居然有免费的瓶装水和瑜伽课程。如果前台能稍微花一点时间介绍一下，体验会完全不同。 其次，工作人员在前台基本一直在玩手机。办理入住时感觉他们只是想尽快把房卡递给你，好继续做自己的事情。 早餐体验也不太好。我早上九点半去吃早餐时，鸡蛋已经没有了，水果只剩下菠萝，选择非常有限。 另外，这里的整体氛围比较冷淡，公共空间很小，而且插座很少，给电子设备充电非常不方便。 床铺还算舒适，但房间里有明显的脚臭和汗味，空气并不清新。 总体来说，卫生不错，但服务、氛围和设施都远低于我在其他国家住过的同类旅舍。 I have traveled to more than 30 countries, and honestly this is one of the worst hostel experiences I’ve had. I really don’t understand how this place has such a high rating. First, the reception staff were extremely cold and showed almost no sense of hospitality. During check-in they simply handed me the key card without explaining any facilities or services. I only discovered just before leaving that the hostel offers free bottled water and even yoga classes. If the staff had taken a minute to introduce these, the experience could have been very different. Secondly, the reception staff were constantly on their phones. It felt like they just wanted to quickly give you the key card so they could continue using their phones. Breakfast was also disappointing. I went for breakfast at around 9:30 am and the eggs were already gone, and the only fruit left was pineapple. The selection was very limited. The overall atmosphere of the hostel felt quite cold. The common area is very small and there are very few power outlets, which makes charging devices inconvenient. The bed itself was reasonably comfortable, but the room had a strong smell of feet and sweat, and the air didn’t feel fresh. Overall, the cleanliness is good, but the service, atmosphere and facilities are far below the standard of most hostels I’ve stayed in around the world.

- Claudio Luiz (8/5): Boa estadia - Me hospedei por 5 noites e gostei bastante no geral. Localização: 10 - muita coisa próximo: 7-eleven e comida de rua + restaurantes. Limpeza área comum: 10. Wi-Fi: 8. Conforto da cama: 9. O colchão é excelente. Limpeza do lençol: 10. Limpo e cheiroso, inclusive o travesseiro não tinha cheiro algum de óleo de cabelo. Funcionários: 10 - todos os funcionários são educados. Especialmente Nink, que é super dedicado. Continue seu excelente trabalho!!!! Ruído externo: 9 - dá para escutar um pouco de ruído da rua, mas nada que incomode tanto. Check-in/check-out: 10. Outros: 10 - no banheiro tem sabonete e shampoo líquido. Na recepção tem café e água quente para chá disponível 24hr. Tem uma mesa de ping pong para jogar, muito legal para socializar com outros hóspedes. Café da manhã decente é gostoso. Geladeira disponível para os hóspedes usarem.

Le camere e i bagni erano impeccabilmente puliti; il personale delle pulizie era presente durante tutta la giornata e la stanza veniva riordinata quotidianamente. - Dayne (3/5): - ★☆☆☆☆ Disappointing and uncomfortable experience We had a really bad stay at The Common Hostel. While the photos and location seemed promising, the reality was far from relaxing. We were in a shared dorm and literally couldn’t sleep — people were coming in and out at all hours of the night, talking loudly and turning on lights with no regard for others. There was no staff presence to keep things quiet or respectful. Even worse, one of the females in our group witnessed a male guest masturbating in the dorm room. Incredibly inappropriate and disturbing, and there was no clear process or support from staff to deal with this kind of behaviour. For a place that markets itself as clean, safe and welcoming, this was honestly unacceptable. Would not recommend this hostel if you’re looking for a peaceful, safe or respectful environment.
