Everything was covered in snow. Wonderful view, wonderful room, wonderful area. Super friendly staff. Receptionist in the mornining gave us some apples to try from the local orchard.

Everything was spotless, the rooms had a rugged beauty, spacious bathroom, gorgeous panoramic views, and a very friendly and helpful staff. We highly recommend Gamble Sands.

However the manager made it right. We opted out online for the dinner but were told at the property that was our only option.

It is a beautiful area and I spent the evening and then early morning in the 18 hole putting green just in front of the room that overlooks the Columbia river. It is a little bit of a drive but well worth it. The inn staff and the server and bartender at the barn eatery were excellent.

We stay here for special occasions: birthdays, New Years Eve) The rooms are so nice with amazing views! The food and service in the restaurant are wonderful. I only left a star off of facility cleanliness, bc when entering the lobby for check in/ check out it smells heavy like cigarette smoke- the last couple times we stayed here. I think the front desk staff may smoke in there or something. Not sure , but other then that the whole place #1the rooms and restaurant are perfect & smells clean & tobacco free. & that is what matters. It is a fabulous place! Just smoke elsewhere staff & it be a 5 star :)

The big drawback was the check-in staff member (10/18/23) - seemed totally disinterested - hardly a welcome, nor advice regarding breakfast, dinner and ice availability. When asked; "not sure about breakfast availability". :after received call that continental breakfast would be provide in the reception area (none was available the next morning). When arriving for 'breakfast' we found one staff member laying down on her back watching tv with her legs/shoes wrapped over the coach. Great impression! Place has great potential but need better management. (May be also add some clothing hooks in the bathroom and shower area)

Upon check in, the staff person seems very disinterested, did not provide basic information about dining options, breakfast or ice availably. When arriving for breakfast, we found one staff member laying on the couch, watching tv, feet draped over the armrest. No continental breakfast set up as promised. BAD MANAGEMENT AND STAFF TRAINING on a property that has excellent potential to be a real 5 star resort.

Shower: epic Slept: like a rock. The room had a fireplace and we weren’t even anticipating it! Every employee we encountered was out of this world nice. I wish we would’ve taken the time to check out the fire pit because it looked absolutely awesome. We came here on a random, point at a map and go type whim and I cannot be more pleased that this is where we ended up. We will 100% be making the 6 hour drive to come back here when the snow has melted.

The staff have are friendly and unpretentious. - My family lives in town so when I visit them from Phoenix I always try to stay at the Inn at Gamble Sands. The property has a feel and look that’s representative of the areas history; homestead/cabin-like but with modern amenities. All rooms have sweeping views of the Columbia river and surrounding mountains. There is a fun and easily accessible putting course on the property too. The younger staff is motivated and very happy to help. When I stayed here last they were pleasant and good attitude. I Haven’t played the gold course, yet. Everytime I visit the course is either closed for winter or fully booked. Spring and summer is very busy time so finding a room will be difficult.

Danny Boy restaurant had great food and fantastic staff. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful. The hotel even gave out complimentary cherries upon arrival and throughout the stay from the orchard. The putting green right behind the hotel was a lot of fun at night. The sunsets were amazing. We played the quicksands course and my significant other played the full course. Both golf courses were amazing - plus free range balls and free putting green. Only downside was the pool is super tiny and for sitting only (would have liked to swim.) hotel rooms were huge, clean, and comfortable. I highly recommend this place as a romantic or even friends getaway - not a lot to do for children. Will definitely come again.

We love the views from the rooms over the Columbia River and the Cascadia Putting Course in front of the rooms. Wow, what a view. The rooms are very nicely furnished, clean and the service excellent. • Rangers0953 (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place to relax. Winter stay is quiet and affordable. King suite was fantastic as it is about 1000 sq. Ft. Plenty of space as it combines a bedroom and separate living room. Huge shower space. Nice big TV in each room and fireplace in each room too. Views out over Columbia River and Cascade mountains. Would recommend for anyone. Some things that would enhance the stay would be a microwave in the room and an visitor information book or packet of information. The little magazine didn't really help. Friendly staff. Will look to return in the future.
• laurymiller (10/5): Great Place - Beautiful resort with incredible views from our room. The room was very well appointed and met all of our needs. The staff was extremely helpful and made our stay flawless and although many features were not available due to COVID the folks did everything they could to minimize the impact. We visited as our son and his family who live in Bridgeport close by. While we didn't golf we will definitely return during golfing season and for other events. This will be our place to stay whenever we are in the area.
• sakieviet (10/5): First Class Hotel - Rooms are large, nicely decorated. Fireplace is a real nice touch and the huge flat screen TV is great. The walk-in shower was a challenge, but finally figured it out. The balcony (we had upper floor room) was so nice to sit and watch people trying out the 18-hole putting green. The chairs are slanted so fairly comfortable until you try to get out of them....hehe. Having a refrigerator was also an added plus. There are USB charging outlets. Take note: upper floor rooms are actually at the parking lot level. If you want a ground level room you will have to carry your luggage down the stairs (no elevator). No complaints as far as accommodations .

The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and the room was awesome. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with comfortable beds and furniture. A nice deck overlooking the putting course and Columbia river. Well worth the money. The golf is a treat. Well maintained links style course that give the feeling of being in Scotland. Loved it!!!
• DickfromSeattle (10/5): Top Quality - Gamble Sands is like a miniature version of Bandon Dunes; no swimming pool, no tennis courts, no kid's arcade. Nothing but top quality golf. The inn is very classy. I just stayed at the Inn at Spanish Bay (Pebble Beach) and I can say that the quality at the Inn at Gamble Sands is just as good. In fact, I have never slept on such sleek, smooth sheets in my life. It is very cozy, very small and intimate, almost like a B&B with 20 plush rooms.
• G2136DPandrewk (10/5): Fantastic accommodations including splendid sunsets; some inconsiderate guests were the one negative - My honey and I absolutely loved The Inn at Gamble Sands. We are not golfers but chose the inn for the ambience, the setting, and as a jumping off point for some hiking and sightseeing. You can make a day out of doing a loop to see the Grand Coulee Dam, hike up Steamboat Rock, and visit Dry Falls. A lot of other natural beauty in the area. The setting is spectacular. The place is modern and clean. Rooms are spacious, including the bathroom (which features a large walk-in shower). The extremely large putting green (which, by the way, is free) provides guests a great venue for after dinner entertainment as there is not much else in the immediate vicinity to do in this remote location. From the rooms or from the putting green, you have a beautiful view to the west including the Columbia River. Sunsets are spectacular. Services are available about ten miles away in Brewster, WA . . . a handful of restaurants, a small grocery store, a McDonalds that is co-located with a Chevron station. The inn consists of 6 buildings, each of which appears to have 8 rooms (4 on lower level, 4 on upper level). The lower level rooms walk out directly on the putting green, while the upper level rooms are at the same level as the parking. So if you have a lower level room, you'll need to haul your luggage up or down a flight of stairs. No big deal though. A few observations: (+): Large flat screen TV mounted on the wall, with large selection of channels via DirecTV (but no HBO) (+): Beds and bedding were very comfortable (+): Good-sized in-room refrigerator (+): Bathroom has an exhaust fan (wish all hotels had that) (+): All rooms have either a patio (lower floor) or a deck (upper floor). I liked being on the lower floor, being able to walk out directly onto the putting green. A few negatives are worth mentioning, but despite these, I'll stand behind my 5-star rating: (-): We stayed two nights. There was no housekeeping service on the intermediate day. That is OK, we don't really need it, but it is a little surprising given the $290/ night room rate. (-): You cannot blame the hotel for this, but there were some inconsiderate guests who detracted from the experience. There were between 6 and 10 empty beer cans strewn about the putting green and adjacent grass (I'm not a golfer - is that a "golf thing"? finish a can of beer and just toss it on the course?). A couple of guys in the adjacent room were sitting on their back patio having a loud conversation where it seemed every 4th word was the "F" word. Some others were out on the putting green well into the evening, past sunset, talking loud. You'd think a place with a $290 per night room rate would have a way of filtering the crowd a bit, but you'd be wrong. (-) I was disappointed that the room did not have a microwave. (-) In-room wireless Internet (free) is not very good. It's fast enough to support basic web browsing and email and such, but don't count on it for any streaming or for uploading or downloading files to/from the cloud. (-) I was less than impressed by the "Danny Boy" restaurant; I'll review it separately. (-) There is a "fitness center", though it was closed due to COVID-19. I peered in and it looked pretty slight. I might instead recommend jogging on the property's access road; traffic is sufficiently light for it to be pleasant. (-) The patio furniture could be a little more comfortable. Overall, I highly recommend this property. Hopefully the management can address some of the aforementioned negatives to the extent they are within their control.
• johnjU3087RL (10/5): Great Golf Escape!!! - My stay at the Inn at Gamble Sands was great. Stayed two nights with the wife. The rooms are spacious and very well furnished. The views of the river and 100,000 sqft putting course are very nice and relaxing. The putting course is a great time as well. My wife is not into golf at all but she had a good time enjoying a glass of wine and putting with my close to sunset. Given the gradual reopening the state is going through the pol and fitness center were closed. It would have been nice for those to be open for my wife but i totally understand I do not hold that against the Inn in terms of my review. We ate our meals from the Danny Boy Grill at the course. Food was quality and fairly priced. Had a great selection of microbrews and wines. Highly recommend the Inn!!!
• MPowell2222 (10/5): One of a kind experience...a must! - The golf was amazing and the staff (and food) were just as good. It's a must-destination for golfers of any ability. The weather was perfect and there was enough light to play as much golf as you could handle in a day.
• 935kenb (10/5): Excellent Stay! - My wife and I made reservations for a King room and upon check in were upgraded to a King Suite! The suite was a beautiful room with two fireplaces, two bathrooms, two TV's, etc., beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean! The view of the river is stunning and the private location of the Inn makes it very quiet and secure. We enjoyed our dinner at the onsite restaurant and lounge. The staff at check in and check out treated us like old friends and went out of their way to answer our questions about the local attractions. We will definitely stay there again when we visit that area!
• juliehn (10/5): Awesome views, comfort and value - As family members want to golf here next year and we were traveling through the area, we decided to spend the night. It was a fantastic value at $99/night. Beautiful suite with amazing views. I am pretty sure there is nothing similar in the area. Note that on site restaurant is open only 4-10pm, Monday to Saturday.
• walrusiam (10/5): Lovely getaway - Visited here for a birthday weekend to play some golf, eat some good food, and relax. The course is stunning and is kept in impeccable shape. The restaurant was pretty good- definitely still golf course cuisine for breakfast and lunch, but dinner they kick the menu up a notch ;) Awesome server Brian took care of us at dinner both nights. The inn was the best part- the rooms were absolutely gorgeous, super well appointed and luxurious. The views are stunning, and the cleaning crew was absolutely top-notch. The room was so sparkling clean! We were disappointed that the pool was broken (heater wasn't working) and when we went to try the putting course off the inn Sunday morning before we left, maintenance was mowing/spraying it, so those would be my only two recommendations- maybe have the grounds crew wait until Monday to close the course? We were disappointed that we didn't get to play there. Pro-tip: bring glow in the dark golf balls so you can try the course at night! A group had brought their own, and we wished we had thought of that idea. Also, call Ryan for the Stay and Play packages- a good way to stay for a better rate!
• BekenCowes (8/5): Weekend away to somewhere quiet - We are a couple in our late fifties who went there in mid Oct 2019 for a weekend away from chores! We aren't golfers at all! The Good: Rooms are very nice - just as shown in the pictures. The view is awesome, great view of the river, with mountains and a bit of snow in the background. It was fall, so some colorful trees around the water completed the picture. Nice and quiet (suits us). Liked the gas fireplace, great shower and balcony. As non-golfers, we enjoyed the putting green with slight rolling hills. Played it a couple of times and laughed a lot :-) The Niggles Nothing bad - I would definitely recommend staying here. When we went it was mostly out of season. The room had 2 bulbs that weren't working, the bathroom sink plug was broken and the automated blinds at the top of the high windows didn't work. They fixed the bulbs, but they came and looked at the blinds and gave up :-). Got the impression it was a skeleton crew at that time of year (called the front desk a few times and there was no response). Just maintenance stuff - the place itself is great and I wouldn't want to stop you from trying it out.
• ThomK1 (10/5): Fantastic Golf and Resort - We were fortunate to have a group of 12 golfers stay overnight and play the course twice. After you play the first time, you will want to play it again, there are many different ways to approach each hole. The food and beverage offerings are great, the accommodation is spacious and clean, designed for the golfer. There are additional amenities like hot tub, fire pit areas and an 18 hole putting course out by the Inn, great fun. Looking forward to returning as soon as possible.
• Jmdavies001 (10/5): Wonderful service, views and room! - This is the third time we have stayed at the Inn. The views are a real WOW out of the rooms. The rooms are very nicely appointed with good showers. Outside the Inn, there is the Cascade putting green that is a treat in the evening as well as a large hot tub nearby.
